Any tips on which NFL games to catch this weekend? Im a Redskins fan but we''re on bye week so I dunno who to watch - was thinking maybe the Lions after their impressive start but haven''t thought about any others too much? -
Not sure on the British team bit though - I have a feeling some Scottish club did it a few yrs back -
Chelmsford - yes we still hold the only English team record -
I''m going out after so not wearing colours but let''s get the friary as designated city pub for tonight. Only £1.25 a pint tonight too. Winner. -
I watched the whole game, it was a great atmosphere - awful game though! -
Hi Darren,Looking forward to reading this - particularly as my Grandfather (Keith Elliott) has been involved with Clifton All-whites for more than 50 years (He''s now treasurer and honorary lifetime president) and remembers your time there with particular fondness. I hope the club are included in some small part, but regardless, I''m excited to read it!All the best,Tom -
I have to say I would be worried if I were a QPR fan.Big name signings but the club has no substance behind it. No fans, tinpot ground - the "stars" will want out the minute QPR look like struggling.SWP is not very good imo. He hasn''t been since he went to Chelsea, there''s a reason a Villa or a Fulham hasn''t taken a chance on him.Barton arriving at Norwich would actually provoke me to boycott the club until he was out. The bloke is a thug, anyone who can stub a lit cigarette/cigar out in a young bloke''s eye should be banned from football. As well as being a thug, he is also an arrogant cock and will surely p*ss off some of the other egos sitting in your dressing room. I think that the trouble he brings with him far outweighs the quality of his ability and I genuinely wouldn''t want him near Carrow Road.Anton ferdinand is really not a very good player and imo only has a career because of his surname.I do rate Luke Young, however he is 32... getting on a bit.DJ Campbell will be fantastic if on form and sh*t if not, same as the rest of his career.I''m glad we haven''t made any fanfare signings, we have no pressure, no one expects us to survive and teams like Chelsea and Stoke didn''t give us the respect we deserve and we were so close to making them pay the price for it. If it weren''t for some very questionable refereeing decisions we would have 5 or 6 points on the board already. We will finish above you this season, no doubt in my mind about it.And your ludicrous point saying we play similar football to you?! Ermmmmmm - NO!!! We play similar flowing, attacking football to Swansea imo - not one dimensional give it to Taraabt and watch him run s**t!!! We are a far better side than you at playing attractive football, we had 4 points off you last season and would have been 6 if not for Hoolahan screwing up the penalty. -
Ah good plan cookie. Il forget my 20+ years supporting Norwich and just start supporting derby cuz I live here. Maybe I should move to Manchester so I can support a decent team! I wish I could be that fickle but my love for Norwich is far too deep for that! -
Well some of us live too far away to have a season ticket. Hardly a "glory supporter" when I''m making a 3 hour each way journey to bolton 2days after I get bk. Id rather be watching it at fcr too but as well as living in derby (and being on hol), I''m a student and wouldn''t be able to afford a st anyway. I now remember why I stopped bothering with this forum. -
I go to fuerteventura on weds for a week so I have a feeling watching it in 28c sunshine on a terrace Il probably enjoy it more than most and then after I get bk I''m off up to bolton with a trip to see my favourite comedian (chris ramsey) the night before. Good few weeks I reckon! -
FYI Yellow Rages - The Brummie guy was Dean Sturridge. -
Hi Kidderminster - Just up the road here in Worcester (Actually on the Kiddy side in Martley to be precise!!).I stayed at the Landsdowne when I went up for the promotion parade - it''s basic but pleasant enough - Landlady was very friendly, room clean and I would happily stay there again. -
Any exiles who can''t stream the Wigan game for whatever reason can listen to full commentary on Absolute Radio extra - they switched their commentary game from the postponed Spurs match to ours today. -
By the way, if anyone has read Blood River by Tim Butcher, I have managed to get in touch with him and get an interview for my dissertation! That book inspired my topic so I''m ecstatic with that! If you haven''t read it then I can''t recommend it highly enough. -
Thanks, this is brilliant guys.I actually have the footsteps of Mr Kurtz waiting for me when I get home from the summer school Im working at. Along with Heart of D''kness which although fiction, is based on Conrad''s travels in the Congo so should be an interesting piece of background reading. The state of Africa is a book I''ve been meaning to get around to for a while, and white gold sounds like an interesting read too.Purple: Thanks for the tip on Sven Lindqvist, the theory sounds quite interesting and I can already see a way to link that in with the apathy of Western media to the plight of the DRC today and the complete lack of media coverage on the horrors of the conflict there. -
Hi guys,Thanks for the responses!Congo: Thanks for the offer, I''ll definitely take you up on that if you don''t mind! What exactly is it you do in the Rep Congo?Legend: That would be great - I''m actually directing my study towards the modern day situation and linking the current instability to the power vacuum left by the Belgians and their authoritarian rule. What did you study by the way?Cheers -
Hi,I''m doing my dissertation on the DRC and the legacy of colonialism.I''m obviously researching this at the moment, and wondered if maybe you would help me out a bit? Please email me at tomblazak@hotmail.co.ukCheers,Tom -
I only get the first 20mins of second half on repeat? -
For Southend. He''s on trial there and looking to negotiate a contract over next few days....So much for his big hurrah in the Prem, but seems like a nice bloke so I for one will wish him all the best with the rest of his career. -
Don''t like the song, the flag/banner idea is genius. Two thumbs up for st pauls cathedral plan. -
Sorry Joanna, just re-read my post and it came across quite patronising! I didn''t mean to sound condescending so sorry for that, thanks SDP for clearing it up. -
It is a pain but Google chrome is far superior to Firefox and IE. It simply isn''t worth using another browser just for the forum - of course if this website weren''t so dated then it might actually work regardless of which browser you use!I acccidentally started up IE the other day, and was shocked to find it takes about 20mins to open a single page (Exaggeration, but it''s a bloody long time when compared to Chrome!) -
Why would AO be expecting a tap on the shoulder? They just sign the tickets and register, they don''t then have to track them, and I''m pretty sure they didn''t initial them and then put them on Ebay themselves, that would be incredibly stupid! -
I''m moving over to Norwich in about a year, once I have graduated from uni. I''ve grown up as an exile, but I love the people in Norfolk more than anything, for the most part they are a different class to anywhere else, much more friendly and laid back... My girlfriend said as much when I took her over for the promotion parade!
