  1. I''m split on Ekoku pure;y because he scored our first ever Euro goal with that awesome volley vs Vitesse.

Mark Robins needs to go in. He only had one good season, but that season consisted of scoring a hatful on our way to the highest ever finish in history and most of that squad are already in HOF. Likewise David Phillips.

  2. I think someone posted that we should find out tomorrow re: Stoke tickets. Hope they''re on general sale as I forgot to put my bloody application in. It''s such a bloody irritating system for us exiles. No chance of nipping down to Carra last minute, and no way of emailing the app. Fax is so outdated.

  3. I have been a bit disappointed with him this season. He seems to lack a bit of confidence, and despite providing some wonderful assists, has a tendency to be a bit anonymous.

Today he was a totally different player! Absolutely superb, looked full of confidence (which is the only thing missing from him being a very, very good player imo), was disciplined, but gave us a real threat down the right with a few surging runs. If he played like that more consistently then he''d be one of the first names on the team sheet. It''s also good for us to know he can do a job there when called upon, I remember a CW interview where he said he will play wherever the gaffer tells him, he doesnt care where it is... he showed that in spades today and was only just pipped to MOTM by Jacko for me.

  4. I think Jackson actually allows the mid to play more, especially with fox in the team. Jacko''s pace means teams can''t afford to defend high up the pitch and press as much, because he is capable of nipping in behind. This in turn, creates space for us in midfield as the opposition defence are forced to sit deeper, and the midfield follow suit, leaving Fox and Hooly a bit more time on the ball to pick their passes. He also runs the channels well and his movement means their defence are constantly being mixed around.

In my book he is in the starting 11 at the moment.

Also, those who are saying Holt looked out of sorts, I thought he was a little quiet but put in a decent shift, and was unlucky not to score a couple of times.

  5. I slagged Wes earlier in this thread and I make no apologies, he was terrible on Weds and he has been found out several times this year. Today he was absolutely brilliant, actually lived up to what he is capable of, which unfortunately is a bit rare.

If he could reproduce today''s performance week in, week out, then he would be a really top quality player and would not only be in the international set up, he would the cornerstone of Trappatoni''s team! No-one questions his ability, just his consistency!

  6. Those of you saying he is off next season should think again. Even with Vaughan coming back we have to keep him.

He''s been getting better and better since the Wolves game and his goal there and is now starting to look every inch the Premiership striker.

Absolutely superb today, his best performance this season and MOTM in my book.

We could probably add one more to Moro, Holt, Vaughan, Jacko to replace Wilbraham (although he has been performing well when called upon, he''s the weakest link in the forward line).

  7. I''ve left the troll alone thus far, but he doesn''t seem too unreasonable so Im going to throw in my 2 cents.

For starters - yes we only took 810 away last night, and you may well average quadruple that away from home - so do we, but for a 510 mile round journey on a Weds night for a Sky game I think that''s ok - some people do work you know! I doubt you even brought that many to Carrow Road for the reverse weeknight televised game, although I can''t find the official figure.

You''re not a big club, whatever you may think, neither are we, despite some of our more delusional fans (and yes there is an element who thinks we are bigger than we are). We are both medium sized clubs, as pointed out by others, we would match your attendance if we had the capacity, but we don''t.

You were far superior in every respect last night, much like we tore you apart at Carrow Road. On the basis of the first game I could easily have said that none of the Sunderland team would make our squad, but I''m a little more intelligent than that, and realise that after watching one game all season, it''s hardly a sound basis for judgment. I would say probably 3 or 4 of our team would comfortably get in your squad and a few more borderline.

After an unbeaten January, holding Chelsea to a draw and decent away form, it was hardly "arrogant" of us to think we could get something from the game. Some fans were arrogant and assumed we would get soemthing, but don''t tar us all with the same brush, most of us were realistic and thought that a point would be a great result with the form your boys are in. It is arrogant of you to think you would turn us over, yes you did, but you have no right to expect to considering our achievements under Lambert.

I have nothing against Sunderland, and I''ve always had a soft spot for O''Neill but I think that you have ideals about your club which simply don''t ring true, you are not a big club with an illustrious history, you won everything in prehistoric times in footballing history and you are a medium club forever in the shadow of your Tyneside neighbours.

  8. ask Mcnally whether it''s worth keeping an eye on the deadline deals. I know he isn''t going to tell us explicitly if there will be a signing, or who we''re in for (if anyone) but it would be nice to know if there are irons in the fire or I can turn SSN off! I''d do it myself, but I don''t use Twitter, don''t see the point of it.
