  1. I know two of the women team and I've not directly asked but they don't get paid much as one is in college and the other works at a supermarket. What surprised me the most was seeing one of them at a festival in summer and I asked if they're left with diet plans or training schedule they have to adhere to, and they're just left to do as they please. It's completely different to the mens game, you only have to go up to training to see it's more like a youth club and less regimented. The girls I know treat it more as a hobby that they're hopeful can be something bigger, the one currently at college has a serious decision in regards to whether she goes to Uni or not. Professionally it's a no brainer to go to Uni, but everyone is saying she will go on to play for her country. Very tough decision.
  2. Looking at the fixtures, Saints play 3 games (4 if including tonight) before Scum even kick off again, how mad is that(?!).
  3. Aerial win would be when two go up for a header wouldn't it? I was thinking more along the lines that being the size he is, you'd expect he has the ability to hold the ball up should we need it. Whether that was to feet, chest or head. I remember he done well for a goal that Fasi scored. About one of the few things we've seen from him though.
  4. Need to see more of SvH. But so far would have him over Hwang purely on the basis of the dodgy stuff circling Hwang and SvH offers us a plan B presuming he can play as target man.
  5. I've had a soft spot for Man Utd since the days of Beckham/Scholes/Ronaldo/Giggs and through watching Keane and Viera battling it out on the pitch, it's hard to watch those matches without some kind of bias forming and I think it's just stuck with me. Fergie just delivered on entertainment and success. The way you know if there's a team you like is if you'll always seek to watch or listen on the radio when they're playing, and United are like that for me. But that's as far as it goes really. That said, i've watched Ipswich a lot this season, so maybe my logic is flawed! 😳
  6. Wonder if that means that Chris Goreham can add Sky commentator to his CV then? 🙂
  7. People forgetting that recent Asprilla goal? (Watford) Many stood applauding that.
  8. I'd love to see MWJ squeezed into a kit, sat in the dugout with his white knees hanging out either side of the seat in front.
  9. DW would've given more indications if he wasn't happy with Idah's loan. But he said himself that he supported it, when Idah requested to go out on loan, primarily as he only wants players committed to the cause. SvH not featured because he lacks mobility, is my best guess.
  10. It's really not, and please don't force me into making a GIF.... Just take my word for it. 🙂
  11. I'd prefer to see a few rare glaring errors like this than VAR being so invasive and active in affecting the rules of the game to suit it. I read that it hit the player on the face when it happened, at least it was his hand based on this replay. Shocking positioning to think it was in the box though.
  12. Would've been funny if that went in at the end.
  13. In terms of obligation maybe, but Wagner said himself that he only wants players committed to the cause, and Idah made it clear he wanted out. Perhaps the way Idah, or his agent, approached the subject with Wagner broke his trust?
  14. Like you, I just presumed he was a risk due to injury, whereas I was thinking (while watching) that if we swapped SvH for Barnes would've give us some height in the box and kept us with an outlet up the field in open play. I mean, he can't be absolutely useless, surely?!
  15. What match were you watching? Gibbs came on, went off Injured and Fassnacht replaced him. If we did bring Hooijdonk on, Ok, so he's not so mobile, but he's a lump and may have been helpful when they were dominating the box for those corners. But we didn't even give him a second.
  16. It's a certainty that one of Leeds, Saints, Leicester or Ipswich are still in the league next season, though. WBA could increase that to two if they made promotion. A mix of Leeds, Southampton and Burnley in this league next season would make it incredibly hard due to their ability to dominate games. Not to mention the risk that Everton or Forest could be falling down if it's not Luton. What's puzzling is not knowing Knapper's preferred system and profile of player, I presume it's based on the Arsenal way and thus would seek to bring in more technically gifted players. Question is, where's he going to get them from, and who will he task with coaching them?
  17. That thinking should apply whether he was here this season or not, surely? You don't **** about experimenting when you're sat in the top six, unless you have confidence in those players to affect the game. He wasn't backed as we are skint, and it appeared that a number of moves we were attempting all broke down based on reports. I'm quite sure that SvH isn't a Knapper type player and he's certainly not a DW player as he has no mobility. I don't see any longterm thinking with him, that suggests it goes against DW being more short term either. The club operate as a team, not individuals. SvH seemed to be the only move available that we could get over the line, matched with his desire to play over here, so we took the option. Last night happened as we didn't take our chances, I don't know if Aboh, SvH or Idah would be considered any better than Barnes, Sara, Sainz and Nunez who all missed great opportunities earlier. Our away form seems more of a mentality issue than a player issue, our backline goes to **** and we give away possession once conceding - that's what needs addressing.
  18. It'd just put him further in the shop window, too. And he's not even our product to sell is the worse aspect.
  19. Never noticed it, so not bothered me. Be interesting if I pick up on it now though! 🙂
