  1. Of course, Bushiri was at Hibs on loan with an agreement to buy based on appearances, at the end of the season Hibs sent him back, then later discovered they had to u-turn and sign him permanently as the clause had been triggered. Just to provide a recent example of how firm these contractual agreements are.
  2. I can't see how the blame is on Nike as everyone is implying, they're making the kit based on the requirements and subsequent sign-off from the FA surely? I'm quite patriotic but it doesn't bother me a great deal, but I get the argument that if it was done to certain other countries there would be outrage and the more I hear people pushing that I can feel me start to feel that anger. However, as a design I quite like it. It's not supposed to be a flag but a homage to it, isn't it? i.e. when have we ever had a flag on the kit to start with? The identification has always been the four lions from what I can remember. Edit: Just had a look online at old kits and this come up from 2010, why was there no outrage then? Is it because we hadn't all turned into arseholes trotting around americanisms like 'snowflake', 'woke', and 'butthurt', perhaps?
  3. Haven't the mirror been after him before? I remember reading a headline about Barnes's goal being the most ugliest goal ever when he slid that opener against 'boro.
  4. I'd love it, but there's not a hope in hell that Duss won't pay up - they're onto a winner here. It'd be interesting to know if he's the sort of player that would fit Knapper's profile, though.
  5. I'd much prefer that approach, but there would probably be some legal action should anyone be genuinely injured? It's back to that same judgement call on whether they're faking it or not isn't it. That's the sticking point. The only saving grace is that you do become used to it, and it's only when you watch older matches that you realise how different the game is. But also, on the flipside of that the level of athleticism and skill amongst players is of a much higher average nowadays.
  6. The trouble is we got to this point through extreme levels of play acting where officials had no option but to stop play, and now it's stuck. By that I mean players feigning head/leg injuries screaming in pain, falling down while 'accidentally' falling on top of the ball etc. This will exist whether you allow more or less physical contact. The only way is to address it, and if that has to be retrospectively as refs are unable to make the call mid-game, and VAR don't want to touch it. Then so be it.
  7. That's a problem in itself as you're eradicating two compelling elements of the game because of the level of cheating/play acting that's been allowed to become the norm. And it's not just offensively, look how Hanley cheats attackers by falling over at the slightest of touch in defensive positions. I personally find it awful to see grown men playing in this way.
  8. I may be going against the grain here, but I feel that we got good value from Aarons. Success through holding on to players can yield prem league money. Of which we received two handfuls of. As I see it, Every players value increases when the team is performing well. IMO, We are more likely to devalue players worth by allowing the average level to drop.
  9. What do you think of the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre? I'll be honest, I'm dead against it.
  10. Trouble is it's become normal for an attacking player to hook their leg into the defending player and it's accepted as being a skill, even when laying on the floor for minutes afterwards. As a result the game is becoming more similar to first downs as you'd get in the NFL. For me, it's this level of 'cheating' that needs to be eradicated, but first it needs to be called out for what it is. But perhaps i'm in the minority? The harder judgement calls will always exist. It's these lower hanging fruits which we should be picking off though.
  11. I think something like this would be best done using a voting system whereby each judge votes in isolation at the end of each match week where the ref has flagged the need for a review. Only where all judges are in agreement would action be taken. It would become a proactive measure, just as putting CCTV up is in a shop. If people know they're being watched and retrospectively dealt with it lessens the number who would otherwise attempt to steal.
  12. Would you prefer a happy Springett or PP to a Mumba, though? I think we're all a bit soft when it comes to Onel being happy. 🙂 I think it's asking that if level of happiness directly relates chances of first team football, then should we not be putting our better players in the 'happy' zones?
  13. And you still didn't answer, really. 🙂 I'm only talking hypothetically as to what you would do, not a biggy.
  14. We are bringing on Welch and Aboh in matches today who have less experience and equally as small. Also it's worth noting that Plymouth have modified their gameplan vs last season where Mumba had more success. If we flip this and say that someone was waving a mil for Onel or PP and no offers for Mumba, who do you think would still be on the books here?
  15. Well it's hypothetical, so like-for-like let's say Reyes comes back from loan and wants assurances that he's part of matchday squad else there's other clubs that want him as a starter. Do you prioritise Long on the basis that he's 'fighting' for his place and take the money offered for Reyes?
  16. Are we ignoring the 6-2 drubbing they gave us then? What he does at Plymouth does not echo what he could've done with us, you may disagree, but it's certainly my feelings.
  17. So because he was more hungry than Onel and PP, he's no longer here? Not sure that sounds too good from a management perspective. For me it's entirely about money and Bali having a cash-in value on his head. Otherwise, (IMO) Onel/PP should've been moved on and Mumba dangled a carrot, those are the types of assurances that can be granted. Put it this way, if Reyes wanted assurances on his future here would you keep Long ahead of him? It's a similar concept.
  18. That's not the point I was making, though. It was rather that part of the justification to sell him was undermined when we sought to repurpose PP. Therefore the reason PP was here was because no-one wanted to buy him, unlike Bali, who's more natural position it was. That's not even to mention the potential that Bali has, and the interview Webber done last season implying that PP could not operate to instructions.
  19. I was sad that he was leaving but that was more on the basis that previous season was torrid, whereas he'd had a great one, albeit at L1. The idea of bringing fresh/confident 'in form' players was attractive for me. But based on the reasoning from Wagner I was ok with it at the time, and could justify that he wanted game-time and Plymouth wanting him. However, when we were then repurposing PP to play as a fullback a few months later, at that point I felt that we had made a serious mistake. For me this is similar to the Tzolis situation where we've kept lower quality players as no-one was willing to pay money for them, and why the depth of quality in this squad drops off beyond the starting 11.
  20. As I see it, the seat for life offer was related to the payment, not the ownership of existing shares? So on that basis, true, there would be no offer there. To put more simply it's like your wife going to the supermarket and receiving free spa weekends for herself for spending £50 on food. Then, you returning in asking where your spa weekend is, as the food is now yours. I'm in no way informed on the subject though, and only go off what i've read on here and that IFO document. What I struggle most with is understanding that when you ask such questions, Who are you asking and what is it that you seek from posting it here? We're just not equipped to help in any manner, but maybe what you post isn't for someone like me to respond to, and i'm accidentally being hooked along in the conversation?
  21. I love my boxing and there's a lot of promotion on DAZN for the Saudi league between and during build up for fights. So I presume they do. Not sure how major there are in the grand scheme of things though, big player in boxing, but they lack the EPL to really be prominent over here. I believe they're big elsewhere around the world though.
  22. We made him unhappy, simple. Mis-managed and cashed in, that's the truth.
  23. I'd be happy for him, but gutted for us. It just flabbergasts me that we'd pick Springett, Onel & PP to go into a season ahead of him, and said it all throughout pre-season and beyond. He's such a natural on the ball and as he matures his stocky build will make him a tough opponent.
  24. The seat for life for your friends daughter, you mean? I think there's the morality aspect, and the business aspect to consider here. Even if the club wanted to do certain favours beyond what is legally agreed, over-stepping the line is simply is a no-no in modern day. The only way to over-turn it is to change legislation, or agreements in place across the board. This reminds me of managing staff, and back to a time where people would come to me, ask for a few hours off to take their dad to the hospital, whatever, and they'd make it up the following day. As a manager this was a really important part of building trust with people as you could do something personal for them to demonstrate some compassion. And then HR came in and it was no longer allowed due to the effect it would have on other people. So what we have today is a workforce that will simply down tools, and clock-out on the dot when it's end of day or lunch/break and they're so engrained into this 'one rule for all' system. You just can't go do anyone a favour, and it's frustrating being the one spreading that policy, as it is to be told it. I don't know really know what you're asking for (i.e. a change in policy for all, or just in your friends case), but please be careful that it isn't through bereavement that you're left feeling it's your duty to stand up on this point. I'm sure you friend would prefer if you weren't stressing and making enemies, but instead enjoying the club, having that seat and remaining an AD. I'd love to be in that position in the future.
  25. As an absolute, 55% in-play minutes does not support that the game is focused on kicking a ball around, that's almost 7 hours across each prem league matchweek where the ball is not in play, and we know the causes. Sounds like an interesting video compilation, though, if someone had the time to assemble it all.
