There’s lots to be said about shape, missing chances. But in isolation for the 2 goals last night I think Gunn was weak, the second one in particular. They have been headed in from 2-3 yards out and he’s stuck to his line on the first and misjudged the cross/corner for the second. He’s had a great season but it’s a flaw to his game and we have got away with a few before last night. I just think anything in the 6 yard box and especially more under the crossbar like last night he needs to be getting something on the ball in. He’s a big keeper and when he does come for crosses he does well so he has the ability. Appreciate this might not be popular but goalkeepers rooted to their line has always been an irritation to me

Something else Onel can’t finish (that’s probably a bit harsh) -
Overrated - Gunn Definitely improved decent shot stopper and generally safe hands but he is a good rather than great keeper for me. But his good run of form has seen him overhyped not least by his TNC mates. I still think he could come for more crosses and he parries when he could catch (although this is modern keeper coaching) which he has got away with a bit. As a general point he doesn’t seem that commanding or organising - there was some stick for Hanley on this recently but it needs to come from the keeper too. Glad we have him and a good keeper but that doesn’t mean he is not overrated IMO Underrated - Kenny For some still a begrudging acceptance he is playing well. Going further back I have banged the drum on this before but felt David Fox was very underrated and his intelligence and positioning meant he did well as the defensive midfielder whilst Howson was overrated and didn’t dominate games for all his ability with BJ Tettey and Wes more important to us. Great finisher tho and some highlights reel goals

Unlikely centrebacks who did surprisingly well..

Sammy Clingan (it could have been you) filled in there under Roeder as did the previously mentioned omozusi. Injuries to stefanovic and Kennedy left us very short. Under Peter Grant we had utility man Ian Murray filling in there too - never a centre half -

Just a thought but given there is a thread on Westy’s brilliant efforts today, maybe criticising these guys on how they look or sound isn’t the best look? Also the twin still on the market has been helping out with On The Stall City so fair play to him. -
Have just come here via the EDP article. 1:46 is a brilliant bit of running for a debut half and sounds like not the flattest of courses either. Also pretty warm out there today. Hope it gets even more sponsorship and fantastic all round from Westy. Sounds like he’s running Bungay half next year so will definitely re-enter in 2024

Yobocop’s Big Question of the week: Loan Stars and Flops

Good : Few of the obvious ones been selected so will go for Leroy Lita. Bad: Simon Tracey - awful choice for experienced assistance to Marshall when Bryan Gunn got that injury. Also Gilmour -

I thought Robert chase would attract more comment! I completely forgot the managerial stint but it did bring in Grant Holt and some permanent players over the loan mercenaries from the previous season. Also had the guts to step up and ultimately it led to Paul Lambert. As a young keeper who enjoyed the glory years of the late 80s and early 90s growing up he was always my hero as a player and the performances he put in whilst his his daughter was ill and ultimately passed away elevate him for me. -

Hero: Bryan Gunn Villain: Robert Chase -
If looking at defensive midfielders, Marvellous Nakamba has been very good on loan for Luton since joining from Villa in Jan. Doubts from Villa fans as to whether he is premiership quality but we can cross that bridge when we come to it. Possibly one they are looking to offload in the summer and presuming they haven’t been promoted we could outbid Luton? Great name too

The surface car park was previously only intended to be temporary, and the intention was for residential development and a replacement multi storey car park on that land behind the Jarrold. The masterplan and planning permissions were a number of years ago so who knows now but the surface car park is likely to be subject to rolling temporary permissions. -

Miraculously managed to not disturb the deep-sleeping couple in the room. Could have been very dodgy in hindsight -

There are 2 Ibis hotels reasonably central to Bristol - lost my room key on a stag do and whilst I had the right room number when I persuaded night staff to let me into the room, it was the wrong hotel…. -
