A sell on clause gives a club a certain percentage of the profit a club makes when they sell him on. York inserted a 10% sell on clause when we signed Ben Godfrey, and so when we sold him to Everton we had to give York about £2.5m

I don’t remember us putting a sell on clause in Maddison when we sold him but from what everyone’s saying it sounds like we must have. Sell on clauses tend to be in the range of 10 - 20%

    It’s 15% of any profit.

What exactly has he done or not done to make you arrive at this decision?

Since he’s been here I still can’t see what he’s trying to achieve. I don’t see any improvement from any player and I’d argue  a lot have gone backwards. The lack of creativity and style of play in his formations is a huge concern. Lastly (and this might because we got accustomed to this under Farke) there seems to be a lack of movement from players when in possession. The players seem rigid and don’t seem to have many options and resort to a lot of direct balls. There’s a distinct lack of flow to our game and find it quite an old fashioned approach.

Idah could be high up, Cantwell's the ultra-obvious one if his head is screwed back on again during pre-season, but I'll pick another name.

    Kieran Dowell.

He's always found himself a bit twixt and between. He's not really physical enough to hold a wing - he's not got Sargent's workrate, size, and general awkwardness, and he's definitely not got the pace of the likes of Hernandez, Placheta, Rashica etc. Yet there were spells in the Premier League last year where he seemed to be getting used to Pukki's runs and was good at sending balls in. He'll have to focus his mind on that as Sinani sounds like he's on a charge and it could push Dowell onto better things. Not to mention he's probably our best set-piece taker nowadays.

I wouldn't rule Hugill out either if we play with more traditional wingers, but if we play with mainly attacking midfielders he's never going to look great and is really just going to be nuisance value, not to mention an excuse to give Pukki a breather.

Dowell in the championship can do I decent job but I wish he’d play attacking central midfield instead of wide right. Just doesn’t work for me.

Didn’t realise they signed Adam Phillips. We released him a few years back.

  5. I think pressing is a mixture of mindset and attributes. Someone like Rashica has the attributes to press effectively but didn’t do it for whatever reason. On the other hand you have McLean who often tries to press but his lack of speed/mobility makes it quite ineffective. Can you be taught to press more efficiently if your body doesn’t allow it? I’m not so sure.
One of the biggest reasons why we don’t compete at premier league level, I believe, is because we lack the players needed to do this effectively.

  6. Promoting mental health by fooling people with a kit launch really leaves a sour taste for me. It’s an incredibly important subject on a personal level for me as I’ve had two friends commit suicide in the last three years. There is a huge problem with a lack of funding into mental health and I feel the club would be better off helping that aspect. Whilst the clubs intentions were good I feel a bit uneasy with the way they’ve handled this.
