1. We are in a very good position in that we don''t have another pro football team for 40 miles which gives us a very large catchment area. I never have really felt we were a small club in terms of potential of support but to a degree the powers that be have over the years been happy to be thought of as little old Norwich. We are never going to be a Manure but there is no reason why we shouldn''t be able to compete with the Middlesboroughs of this world.
2. Hucks will definitely not be going anywhere as he''s already said that we are the last club he would play for in this country, plus he''s already been at some of the big clubs and realises that they''re not all they''re cracked up to be. Francis maybe at the end of the season if we go down and someone offers silly money. As for Greeno I think he will be here for 1 more year if we stay up but will go at the end of the season should the worst happen.
3. Another thing that is bugging me is what is going to happen to the 6 million land deal money. Originally that money was earmarked to pay for the new stand but now they''re paying for that over 15 years. Have to say that I to am not 100% convinced that our board are as honest as many seem to believe, 10 years ago fans were up in arms because of a lack of investment in the playing staff and I''m amazed at how tolerant people are at the moment. But if we do go down that tolerance will disappear and will be reflected in season ticket sales and overall attendances.
4. I''m with u on this wiz, we owe nothing to players who return with their old clubs and I do begrudge players who move on thinking the grass is greener. My interest is NCFC and if good players leave to sign for other clubs I will hold it against them and Greeno will be included in that. I want us to be a success and I don''t give a monkeys backside about other clubs or individuals.
5. Imo I don''t think it would be right to sack Worthy cos as previous posters have said , who would u replace him with ? I never thought it would be easy this season but I did at least expect us to win some games. We had a hard start but there has now been a few games we could reasonably expect to win and still no win. It is a false economy to not invest enough in the team in the hope that we''ll bounce back if we go down but what happens if we don''t come back quickly? Answer - we''ll be in bigger trouble than we''ve ever been. The argument that the money isn''t there cuts no ice as far as I''m concerned as theres the small matter of 35 million we will end up getting for our one season in the prem. Definitely too much prudence and too little ambition imo.
6. Just because people come on here and critisicise it doesn''t mean that they will not give the team support when they''re at a game. I have not missed a single home game for 32 years and when I''m at the games I support the team as passionately as anyone in the ground. We have done well in many of the games we have played but the fact is we still haven''t won a game. We have 25 games left and will probably need to win 9 and draw 3 or 4 to survive, the odds do not look very favourable when u consider that we haven''t won any in 13 so far. Imo relegation would be an absolute disaster as theres no guarantee we''ll bounce straight back. The confidence of the whole club and fans will be affected big time if we carry on in the current vein, look how it has knocked Wolves back after the torrid season they endured in the prem.
7. If we had a team to compete and actually win some games(not just one) this league would be far more enjoyable than the chumpionship. If we go down with barely a whimper many fans will become disillusioned with the clubs policies and season tickets will certainly not be in such demand. Imo the club have underestimated how difficult it is to get results in the prem and the transfer window will be to late to rectify the situation. Even in the unlikely event they make some real money avaliable who in their right mind will come to a club destined for the drop other than some has been like Dion Dublin who I saw driving his jaguar in Thorpe a couple of weeks ago, sadly there may be some truth in the rumours that he is arriving in January. To much prudence and not enough ambition has been shown and the board had us relegated before we even kicked a ball.
8. The fact of the matter is that we do not posess the players to win games in this division. In plain english we are just not good enough. Mulryne may be able to pass the ball on a good day but is not good enough to do it consistently. Fleming is overated in my opinion, maybe good enough for the chumpionship but no good in this league so lets give Shackle a game. The players Worthy bought in with the exception of Charlton were no better than we had but I think it was a case of getting players to fit the budget he was given which imo was nowhere near enough to give him a chance of getting the required players in. I wouldn''t be surprised to see Worthy resign in the near future if things don''t improve.
9. We sell out every home game and cannot fit anyone else in the ground, my point is that if we had a big enough stadium we have the capability to attract crowds of more than 30,000 and the Arsenal game we could have sold out twice over according to the club. That hardly sounds like a very small club to me.
10. How do u know she has written of the money she''s put in at last?  Even though we all have cause to be grateful to Delia personally I think the board have shown far to much prudence and to little ambition and as the season progresses the fans will become more disgruntled if we fail to get results. In football u are rated on your current performance not what u achieved in years gone by.
11. I agree on most things except the 25''000 following bit which should read 30''000+ on a good day. And we are not a very small club and should be able to compete with the Middlesboroughs, Charltons and Southamptons of this world. This is the kind of mentality we need to avoid which sadly is typical of some Norfolk people happy to accept their lot in life with barely a whimper. Aim for the stars and u may well reach them, aim low and get what u deserve.
12. I agree on most things except the 25''000 following bit which should read 30''000+ on a good day.
13. Worthy could only work with the amount of money he was given, he obviously felt he needed to bring eight bodies into the club. He had three million pounds to play with and it is very difficult to get that number of quality players in for such a small sum. While I acknowledge that only a couple of the signings(Charlton and Jonson who is improving) look any good it still doesn''t alter the fact that if he had 10 million to spend he would have set his sights a bit higher. Therefore the board must take some of the blame.
14. Agree on most things but instead of bringing Donkerty in I''d give Shackle a run in the team.
15. I wish I had your faith NC, that league is getting harder every year to get out of and much will depend on us holding on to our better players like Francis who will have been noticed more in the prem and also the boards willingness or lack of to spend some money. I wouldn''t be as confident as u seem to be about us bouncing straight back.
16. Greeno going in January may well be our only hope of staying up as long as the funds are spent on players. We need 3 players to give us any hope and the only way of raising the money needed is to sell Greeno. I''m still not convinced that Arsenal want him anyway so it''s a case of whether or not anyone else is interested. I think theres as much chance of someone coming in for Francis as he''s been by far our best player.
17.
A little late for your lot to be spending money you aint got. You can''t even summon up 30,000 fans to a premiership game so no chance. To stay up you need premiership quality palyers, have you got any...
We can''t summon up 30''000 fans cos our ground only holds 24.400 and every game is sold out. You are right about the lack of quality but wrong about Hucks. Now go away and leave us to grieve in peace.
18. Blackburn have some very good players and it''s not a foregone conclusion that we''ll win. We are certainly well capable of winning if we play for 90 minutes and not 45. This is a must win at all costs game and should we lose this it will be a massive blow to our chances of staying up.
19. Blackburn have some very good players and it''s not a foregone conclusion that we''ll win. We are certainly well capable of winning if we play for 90 minutes and not 45. This is a must win at all costs game and should we lose this it will be a massive blow to our chances of staying up.
20. In answer to question 1, no worthy doesn''t want this to be a one season wonder but his hands are tied because the board are leaning far to much towards being prudent. Question 2, yes Delia does want to stay up but she has it in her head that hard work and team spirit alone are enough to achieve that goal. Then theres always the old we''ll do a Charlton bounce straight back and stay there, sorry but in reality that may well not happen. My question is, what will happen if we go down and don''t come back for another 10 years?
21. I also feel as though the whole club have gone into the prem with the thought that if we go down we will do a Charlton and bounce straight back and live happily ever after. Wonderful if it works out that way but the reality is that it very rarely does, look at Leeds, Wolves and Leicester all struggling. We all know that the club has a large Debt but Delia has already said that none of the prem money would be used to clear the debt so thats not a factor in the miserly budget worthy got. I am a season ticket holder and will continue to be whatever division we are in  but I can''t help but feel disappointed at the lack of funds put into the team this season. This prudence with ambition attitude is sensible but we seem to have plenty of prudence and very little ambition. The most annoying thing is that we are only 3 players away from being a mid table team and because of our nervousness about spending money it''s likely we will go down and lose our better players. When Mr Chase was in charge he had no end of stick for not signing players when we needed them and while I know we are in debt the income nowadays is far greater than it was then. As the season wears on if things don''t improve the dissentors will increase as people grow tired of the poverty stories we are fed and if we go down the club will find it far more difficult to sell tickets as people begin to lose faith in their policies.
22. Listen up bananarama(or whatever your name is) it is unrealistic to be relegated and expect to bounce straight back with several clubs in the chumpionship in with a shout of promotion. That damn league is getting harder to escape from every year. We are already in the prem and we might as well give it a damn good go in a bid to survive, and that involves spending a bit more than we have. If we were to say spend 3 million on a striker and we did go down then that player would have a resale value, so in effect it''s not really a gamble at all as long as we don''t pay over the odds. The team have done exceptionally well so far this season and we are not far away from being a mid table team. No one in their right mind would want to see the club put at risk but the feeling is that the club have been to cautious in their approach, that is my opinion and having not missed a home game for 32 years and attending several away games in that time I think it is my right to express my views.
23. Well said KOL, it''s about time we stopped playing the small time country bumpkin club. A few years ago the papers were full of people telling Chase to spend money on a new striker, he failed to do so and the rest is history. At the time people didn''t realise how much in debt we were. But being in the top league nowadays is worth mega bucks compared to then and if we go down and fail to return within a couple of years we will again be faced with having to sell our best players just to survive.
24. The fact is we spent a mere 2 million on players in the summer, nowhere near enough to give us a better than average chance of survival. Almost half of that was wasted on Doherty who I think was a panic buy on Worthys part but was still another body in the squad. I think most people are of the opinion that they don''t want the future of the club put at risk in a bid to survive. But the question in my mind is have they been overcautious in their spending and whatever way I look at it my feeling is that they truly have been to miserly with their budget. None of us know the true figure that promotion to the prem is worth but I remember an article by Rick Waghorn regarding this and in it he pointed out that Sunderland recieved around 15 million the year they were relegated, since then there is even more money for overseas rights and also more live games. On that basis I would be surprised if we recieved anything below 18 million, add to that 7.5 million for 2 years in parachute payments if we go down and the figure is around 33 million. The club have already said that they would not use any of the money to pay off the debt as it is scheduled over a long period to enable us to afford the payments even if we go down. We know that the infill, promotion bonuses and the pitch have been paid out of the money and also increased wages etc. But try as I might there is no way that I can imagine that figure being any more than say 10 million. Another thing that has baffled me in recent times is the announcement that the Jarrold stand is also being paid over a long period when initially it was said that the 6 million land deal money would be used for that purpose. So what will happen to the 6 million from the land deal? When the share announcement was made a few weeks back it was said that Worthy had spent all his transfer budget for this season, where was the money coming from for the new striker we were supposedly trying to get on deadline day? I do agree with the point that there seem to be to many people looking through yellow and green coloured glasses and often wonder whether they will still think the same way if we go down and take another ten years to return. Personally I''m of the opinion that another 4 or 5 million could and should have been avaliable for new players and even though I will have a season ticket whatever happens I would hate to go down with a feeling that we were there for the ride.
25. The club have already said that they would not be using any of the prem money to pay the debt cos they''re on an affordable monthly payment which we can afford to pay. Personally I would have liked them to have spent more than they have, to me they have been to cautious. If we go down we get 7.5 million for 2 years which means even 1 season in the prem will bring in a grand total of 35-40 million. We may go down and take another 10 years or more to return. If that happened it would take us years to recover.
