1. Why worry, just enjoy it and hope for a few more signings before the window closes.
2. According to ssn Crewe expect the deal to be completed within 24 hours.
3. He must be from the C list, can''t believe Worthy would stoop that low for players. From what he has said I''m sure he would not spend on such a player.
4. Heard Worthy on the radio today and he said that him and the board were still trying to get someone from the A list and that he they were exploring every angle to try and achieve this. So maybe we can''t totally rule ot Ashton- heres hoping.
5. No thanks, too old and expensive wages and no longer good enough.
6. If we can sign a decent striker and get a midfielder on loan then yes, but it doesn''t look promising that the board will release the necessary funds- so sadly I say no.
7. No thanks, he''s past his sell by date and his wages would probably be 50k a week.
8. Imo Mullers is not good enough for the prem, he would be tailor made for a team like Crewe who are one of the best footballing teams in the fizzy league. Mullers and Macca must be worth a million quid between them, give them a million plus them two and 500k if we stay up and possibly a sell on clause and maybe a deal is not as impossible as some think.
9. I would part with Mulryne and Mcveigh if it meant getting Ashton. Incidentally was watching sky sports news earlier and apparently Gradi said today that a good club had expressed an interest and Ashton knew about it, note they said good rather than big so maybe just maybe it could be us.
10. I''m not exactly impressed by the clubs attitude either, I have supported this club through thick and thin for more than 30 years and in all that time have had to listen to them pleading poverty on several occasions. If u asked any genuine fan if they wanted to put the club at risk to try and stay up the answer would be no every time. But there is a difference in not putting the club at risk and being totally paranoid about spending money which I feel this club has now become. Ipswich only got into difficulty because they not only spent mega bucks on the stadium but also on players and probably blew between 20 and 25 million in a short space of time. The tv money has also increased since then and remember we also have 6 million from the land deal to come, in fact it''s fair to say that we will probably have an income of 10 million pounds more than they had from their stint in the prem. All in all we have probably spent in the region of 10 million max if u include the infill and pitch. There is something very wrong with the clubs policies if they can''t find another 3 or 4 million to add to the budget, we now have a couple of saleable assets in Green and Francis who will probably be sold if we go down raising yet more money. Before anyone says that the club have paid some of the debt off they have already said that NONE of the money was used to clear the debt as it is structured over a long term with affordable monthly repayments whatever division we are in.
11. Sell greeno and bring in Ameobi at 1.5 million, Pennant for free and Gabbidon at around 3 million as to do nothing will surely lead to relegation.
12. At this moment in time we seem to be in a similar situation to last year but this time premiership survival is at stake rather than promotion. We were haggling over the Hucks deal and thankfully all came good with that brilliant news on boxing day ending up with promotion in May. For some strange reason I feel that there will be a bit more than 1.2 million made avaliable in January but cards are being played very close to the chest to try and avoid price increases. Does anyone know when the next batch of sky games are announced? That could well have a bearing on how much we spend in January. With games to come against Manure, Chelski and Newcastle we must stand a chance of being on at least once.
13. I expected us to at least muster 1 shot on target.
14. Never expected us to get anything from the game but the thing I find most worrying is that we didn''t have a single shot on target and a mere 1 off target. Surely these teams haven''t become so invincible that we can''t even register a shot on target against them. Even though I don''t think Svensson nis good enough his absence has given us a very lightweight look upfront over the festive period. If Worthy is serious about getting a striker I hope a deal is sorted pre christmas so he can play after 1st january.
15. We will never be as big as Manure or arse but we should certainly be able to attain the levels of Middlesborough in a few years time. Remember 10 years ago where Middlesborough were at, crowds of around 15''000 and playing in a delapidated ground in a lower league. Although Gibson has pumped millions into them I still don''t see them as potentially any bigger than us and they won their first major trophy last year, we have certainly won more than one trophy in our history.
16.
Knowhatimean: "When I say determined effort, I mean an injection of funds". I think when people talk about ''ambition'' they really mean ''debt''. If there are no piles of tenners stuffed under a stand ...
Spending more money would not mean going into more debt than we have already, have u forgot the 18 million or so sky tv money or the 4.5 million land money still outstanding? I find it hard to believe how some of our supporters seem to be so paranoid about spending money nowadays. At the end of the day a football club is only successful if they have good enough players to compete at the level they play and at this moment in time we do not have players capable of performing consistently at this level. We have but 2 choices, don''t bother spending money and undoubtebly go down in the probably vain hope that we''ll bounce straight back. Alternatively we could spend a few quid and at least try and hang on to our hard won status. The question is how much should we spend, imo we should certainly be able to give Worthy an additional 4 million without putting the club at risk. 5 million quid would be enough to strengthen the team significantly if spent wisely. My guess would be that we will probably have around 2 million to spend which may just stretch to a half decent striker, just hope Worthy has someone in mind.
17. I hope we don''t sign Crouch cos imo he is not a premiership striker. His general play was good when he was here but 4 goals in 16 appearances was not exactly prolific and that was in the fizzy league. Considering his height he certainly doesn''t dominate like he should in the air. Rather have Harewood if we could get him, pace power and strength and good in the air. He certainly has all the attributes to score goals at this level.
18. No genuine city fan would want to see the club put at risk but I and some others feel as though we have been to cautious in our approach. Personally I''d rather the attitude had been that we were 19 million in tv revenue better off than last season, even if we spend 8 million we will still be 11 million better off than had we not got promoted minus the money for corner infill , pitch and other bits and pieces. If we did go down then the parachute payments would soften the blow and at least we would be much stronger due to the money invested in the team. The most important thing in my view is that any players signed were on divisional pay to avoid the problems that them lot down the road have encountered. Personally I think relegation would be a bad thing  even though I cant say I''m enjoying this season much because we haven''t got a team good enough to compete at this level, but if we could somehow survive and get some quality players in and win a few more games it would be far more enjoyable than the fizzy league.
19. We may have options the trouble is none of them are good enough at this level.
20. Thank god for that, I was beginning to think I was the only one who had noticed that they had indeed gone back on their word. Would like to believe that they will make additional money avaliable but sadly I think they aren''t to bothered if we go down, after all it is easy getting promoted and only took us 9 years last time.
21. Can''t see many points forthcoming from the next 4 games and worryingly it is now looking like we will be bottom at christmas and we all know what happens then. If Worthy does only have 1.2 million to spend then we''re doomed and I have to say that the prospect of being relegated and getting stuck in the fizzy league for several years is more worrying to me than if they gambled another 3 or 4 million to try and survive. Imo we have gone into the prem with totally the wrong attitude and even though we all knew it would be hard we have certainly made it harder than it should have been.
22. We actually started quite well today and Fulham scored in their first attack. As the game progressed we looked less likely to score and in the end it was to comfortable for them. No one except Leon came out of the game with much credit today and I thought we were poor. We never really looked like turning the game round and  the fans were resigned to another defeat long before the end. Svensson was very poor making his plea to Worthy not to bring in another striker look laughable. Van der saar hardly had a save to make and probably had his easiest game of the season. Still Fulham were on a run of four defeats and teams always seem to be able to halt such runs against us. We may well survive by the skin of our teeth this season but more due to others failings than our brilliance. Another depressing Saturday for me but facts have to be faced and the fact is we haven''t got enough good players to win regularly in this league.
23. We would not have to pay high wages cos the players are on divisional pay and will all take a pay cut to a level consistent with being in the first division. Why should the parachute payments not be taken into account when allowing for a transfer budget?  If we spent a few bob on players and the worst did happen then that is guaranteed income so imo it should be taken into account.
24. Has anyone else noticed how the 15 million parachute payments don''t seem to be mentioned in the clubs report. Now I have seen the figures I am even more convinced that an additional 3 or 4 million should have been made avaliable in January. Imo it would be better to have a bigger budget and settle for a lower profit margin in May 2005 and give us a better chance of staying up. And just to think all this without a penny of parachute payments being taken into account should the worst happen.
