I am in total agreement with you about Askou and I saw enough last night to reinforce my opinion that he is not good enough for this division.[/quote]
With respect I think you have to consider their role in the side and how much energy they have to expend. But different opinions is what makes this board busy. If it wasn''t tiredness what did you put it down to?

Crofts game is based around energy and he was still putting himself about as much as he has any game this season and for me no footballer should be tired so early in the season unless there is some kind of fitness issue we don''t know about. -

Apart from the shot he had cleared off the line and the deflected cross for the goal I can barely remember him getting anything right, he gave the ball away on countless occasions and somehow managed to end up in a heap on the floor just after we scored which would have led to a Palace equaliser were it not for a brilliant last ditch tackle. Crofts was the only one to come out of the game with any credit and the rest of them rated somewhere between average and awfull imo. -
Crofts was our MOM for me, think I only remember him giving the ball away once all night which was more than could be said for Lappin who I thought was woeful. -
Thought we were ok in the first half but absolutely dreadful in the second half, Palace didn''t have to do much to win that game we practically gave it away. Crofts was the only one to come out with any credit imo, Lappin may have contributed to the goal but he was careless in possesion on far to many occasions and were it not for a brilliant last ditch tackle Palace would have equalised just after we scored after Lappin gave the ball away.Thought Ruddy could have saved the second goal and wasn''t at all impressed with Smith who was skinned several times by their right winger. Most disappointing thing for me was that we never really gave it a go in the second half and you could see we wouldn''t score if we played all night. Hugely disappointing . -
I would imagine we''d get him for around 300k as he''s out of contract at the end of the season or maybe we could extend his loan until the end of the seaon and buy him in the summer. -
If there''s any chance of a play off place or better in January we can''t afford not to sign Barnett and I''m sure Mcnally will see it the same way, in fact I''m sure there will have been some money set aside to spend in January if Lambert needed it. The only way we''ll ever get this club back on an even keel is either getting promoted or a new owner coming in, the former takes money to push you over the line and the latter sadly looks a forlorn hope at the moment. -

We are in pretty good shape at the moment and should at the very least give you a decent game and are more than capable of turning you over if we play as we can, of course it''s also possible that however we play you will simply be to good for us and we get beat. Should be a good game with a cracking atmosphere whatever the result. -

We''ll break that record several times this season, wouldn''t be surprised if the Palace game is over 26k if they bring a reasonable amount which they generally do. If not I''d imagine Leeds and Ipswich will both be in the region of 26500 next month and there''ll be many others as the season progresses especially if we keep doing well.. -
We''ve won 3 games at home but I see where you''re coming from, to have won 3 games away by this stage of the season is excellent. I think the formation we play and the players we have are suited to playing on the counter and it''s no coincidence that the only time we abandoned the diamond we came unstuck at Doncaster. -
Definitely not, Barnett and Ward are far better players than Doherty. -

Very enjoyable game which we deserved to win but made it far harder for ourselves than it should have been, some of our attacking play was very good in the second half and we should really have scored more than the four goals we did. I thought Barnett was immense as were Wes and Crofts but the rest of our defence were very shaky at times. I thought Leicester looked the most dangerous team to come here so far and with a manager who knows what he''s doing they are more than good enough to climb the table. -

At 1pm I had a count up and there was only around 300 seats still avaliable on the online ticket site, add to that the 3- 400 empty seats in the Hull section and that is only around 700 seats that were not taken. Take away the 500 season ticket holders who don''t normally turn up and you should have been looking at a crowd of around 25800 which is what I''d have guessed at before they announced the attendance. -
I personally think we are missing a Darren Huckerby type player who has the ability to make things happen. I thought we defended very well for the most part yesterday with one of their goals being scored via a lucky deflection and the other from an unstoppable free kick, if Hucks was in this team I think we''d get promoted just like we did six years ago. -
I couldn''t believe it when I read the stats to see they had 57% of the posession, although they did seem to come into it more after they brought their subs on it certainly didn''t seem like they had that much of the ball. The shots didn''t surprise me because as a previous poster said we seem reluctant to shoot until we get close to goal and that is something that needs working on. We had plenty of chances to shoot around the box and chose to pass, in general it was a good performance but for the amount of good play we had we didn''t test the keeper enough. -
On reflection I think you''ve got it spot on, in this league you will get punished if you don''t take your chances. I thought we looked far better today than we have in any home games so far, think we may regret not getting a big striker to compete with Holt.

The same personnel worked extremely hard and got an excellent point at QPR 4 days previously. The level of performance was there again for the first 45 minutes last night. The second half performance I put down to tiredness. The slightest drop in energy can make a huge difference in todays game. Physical tiredness and mental tiredness. This doesn''t mean a player isn''t fit. I would think Lappin is as physically fit as he can be.
But if it wasn''t tiredness what was it that affected Lappin''s performance last night. If he isn''t good enough then he wasn''t good enough at QPR. We all know that if Surman was fit lappin probably wouldn''t be playing. But with Surman being injured who would you have played in his place?
[/quote]In reality we don''t really have many other options at the moment and you rightly say that Lappin would be on the bench if Surman was fit. Lappin is ok on his day but imo he isn''t consistently good enough for this league, he can do a job but his delivery is not as good as Surmans. It didn''t seem to affect the Palace players who had an equally tough game against Millwall on Saturday, to be fair he wasn''t the only one but his sloppiness in possesion stood out to me more than anyone last night.
