Not really kdncfc. I thought he was knackered by half-time. But I think Wes and Korey were too. Crofts was superb again and managed to keep going. But as a unit our midfield didn''t function after half-time. Lambert made changes but that meant a change in system and we totally lost the initiative. By the end we just had a collection of players on the pitch and no team whatsoever.

I thought Askou was pretty awful mind. But I often did when he played before.

If last night proved anything perhaps it was that we need a workable plan B for when we need to rotate players and freshen up a tired team.
I think if a young footballer is knackered by half time serious questions need to be asked about their fitness, Palace had a tough game on Saturday and apart from 36 year old Davids they had far more of a spring in their step all night. I am in total agreement with you about Askou and I saw enough last night to reinforce my opinion that he is not good enough for this division.
With respect I think you have to consider their role in the side and how much energy they have to expend. But different opinions is what makes this board busy. If it wasn''t tiredness what did you put it down to?
Lappin is another who isn''t good enough imo. he may deliver a few decent balls into the box but far to often he doesn''t clear the first man and he simply doesn''t deliver often enough for me. Crofts game is based around energy and he was still putting himself about as much as he has any game this season and for me no footballer should be tired so early in the season unless there is some kind of fitness issue we don''t know about.
The same personnel worked extremely hard and got an excellent point at QPR 4 days previously. The level of performance was there again for the first 45 minutes last night. The second half performance I put down to tiredness. The slightest drop in energy can make a huge difference in todays game. Physical tiredness and mental tiredness. This doesn''t mean a player isn''t fit. I would think Lappin is as physically fit as he can be.

But if it wasn''t tiredness what was it that affected Lappin''s performance last night. If he isn''t good enough then he wasn''t good enough at QPR. We all know that if Surman was fit lappin probably wouldn''t be playing. But with Surman being injured who would you have played in his place?
In reality we don''t really have many other options at the moment and you rightly say that Lappin would be on the bench if Surman was fit. Lappin is ok on his day but imo he isn''t consistently good enough for this league,  he can do a job but his delivery is not as good as Surmans. It didn''t seem to affect the Palace players who had an equally tough game against Millwall on Saturday, to be fair he wasn''t the only one but his sloppiness in possesion stood out to me more than anyone last night.

I thought several of the players were awfull last night and I can''t see how you can blame tiredness Nutty. They are professional footballers, they only train for a few hours each day and playing for 90 mins twice in a week should be well within their means.

We lost because Wardy and Drury''s experience was missed, several players were below par and we didn''t have 2 men on the posts for the corners. Also thought us fans were very quiet for some reason and that probably didn''t help either.
Agree about the fans CA, I thought the lack of noise was embarrassing and even at the start there seemed to be very little enthusiasm from the terraces.

I didn''t think anybody was awful last night. Maybe Askou at times but I think he was shown up rather than awful. Were they complacent? I guess it could be viewed that way or it could be viewed that they couldn''t be bothered. But we know these players and we know those two descriptions would hardly be fair. But were they knackered? Had they not recovered from such a hard game on Saturday? The diamond saps the energy of a lot of players and surprise surprise those players looked a little off the pace last night.
Don''t you think Lappin was awful last night Nutty? Apart from the shot he had cleared off the line and the deflected cross for the goal I can barely remember him getting anything right, he gave the ball away on countless occasions and somehow managed to end up in a heap on the floor just after we scored which would have led to a Palace equaliser were it not for a brilliant last ditch tackle. Crofts was the only one to come out of the game with any credit and the rest of them rated somewhere between average and awfull imo.

  6. Thought we were ok in the first half but absolutely dreadful in the second half, Palace didn''t have to do much to win that game we practically gave it away. Crofts was the only one to come out with any credit imo, Lappin may have contributed to the goal but he was careless in possesion on far to many occasions and were it not for a brilliant last ditch tackle Palace would have equalised just after we scored after Lappin gave the ball away.Thought Ruddy could have saved the second goal and wasn''t at all impressed with Smith who was skinned several times by their right winger. Most disappointing thing for me was that we never really gave it a go in the second half and you could see we wouldn''t score if we played all night. Hugely disappointing .

  7. If there''s any chance of a play off place or better in January we can''t afford not to sign Barnett and I''m sure Mcnally will see it the same way, in fact I''m sure there will have been some money set aside to spend in January if Lambert needed it. The only way we''ll ever get this club back on an even keel is either getting promoted or a new owner coming in, the former takes money to push you over the line and the latter sadly looks a forlorn hope at the moment.

If you had had a Mk 2 Cortina you could have done it on the front seat.

Ipswich said QPR were nothing special. Got beat 3-0 at their place.

Leicester said QPR were nothing special. Got beat 2-0 at their place.

Palace said QPR were nothing special. Got beat 2-1 at their place.

Norwich are now saying QPR are nothing special.................
Out of the four teams you mention only the scum had been in decent form until they came up against your lot, Boro,Sheff Utd and Palarse haven''t found any form to speak of so far this season. We are in pretty good shape at the moment and should at the very least give you a decent game and are more than capable of turning you over if we play as we can, of course it''s also possible that however we play you will simply be to good for us and we get beat. Should be a good game with a cracking atmosphere whatever the result.

  11.
The Canaries will take one hell of a beating !

Seriously, think we will win comfortably, but all the best for the season
Let''s just hope your players take us as lightly as you seem to be doing, we have won 3 and lost only 1 of our 5 away games so far and only a fool would consider a comfortable home win to be a forgone conclusion. You are obviously favourites because of the way you have started but you will concede and lose at home at least once this season and there is no reason it shouldn''t be next week, we haven''t failed to score away from home in over a year and hopefully that record will continue next week.

  12. Very enjoyable game which we deserved to win but made it far harder for ourselves than it should have been, some of our attacking play was very good in the second half and we should really have scored more than the four goals we did. I thought Barnett was immense as were Wes and Crofts but the rest of our defence were very shaky at times. I thought Leicester looked the most dangerous team to come here so far and with a manager who knows what he''s doing they are more than good enough to climb the table.

  13.
I was thinking of exactly that bradford game when i put this post up Shuck! Eventhough you rightly point out numerous other examples since then. I think Bradford were bottom at the time or hadn''t won away in years or something. There was some sort of additional factor to it, i remember it well and it was sooooo typical that we lost it! Pretty sure it was our promo season. I remember Simon Francis doing a job on Huckerby that game. He''s always looked decent when we''ve faced him. Quite surprised PL didn''t look at him as competition for RMart since he was available from Southend at the end of last season. Think he has ended up at Charlton.
I think that game was the season we reached the play offs, we lost 4-1 and Robbie Blake scored a pen just after half time and took the pee out of the Barclay as part of his celebration. Watched the dvd only a couple of months ago and remember seeing it on there.

  14.
The players hate Sousa, we''ve had about 5 transfer requests and he''s trying to offload our best defender because he disagrees with Sousa''s dreadful zonal marking, as well as refusing to play Fryatt.

Rumours are gathering that the new Thai owners will sack him soon when Milan leaves the club, who for some reason thought it was a great idea to get rid of Nigel Pearson.

Can''t see anything but a Norwich win, and I wouldn''t be too upset with that if it meant we lost Sousa, who is very quickly destroying Nigel''s solid foundations.
I think you are trying to lull us into a false sense of security Dangles, you have some decent players and I''m pretty sure their pride will have been hurt and they''ll be trying to right a few wrongs.  Sousa will probably get sacked as soon as the new owners come in anyway.

  15. At 1pm I had a count up and there was only around 300 seats still avaliable on the online ticket site, add to that the 3- 400 empty seats in the Hull section and that is only around 700 seats that were not taken. Take away the 500 season ticket holders who don''t normally turn up and you should have been looking at a crowd of around 25800 which is what I''d have guessed at before they announced the attendance.

  16. I personally think we are missing a Darren Huckerby type player who has the ability to make things happen. I thought we defended very well for the most part yesterday with one of their goals being scored via a lucky deflection and the other from an unstoppable free kick, if Hucks was in this team I think we''d get promoted just like we did six years ago.

  17. I couldn''t believe it when I read the stats to see they had 57% of the posession, although they did seem to come into it more after they brought their subs on it certainly didn''t seem like they had that much of the ball. The shots didn''t surprise me because as a previous poster said we seem reluctant to shoot until we get close to goal and that is something that needs working on. We had plenty of chances to shoot around the box and chose to pass, in general it was a good performance but for the amount of good play we had we didn''t test the keeper enough.
