1.

Lets just wait and see what happens. Lambert may have a player lined up who is better than doherty and therefore making all these comments look stupid. Lets just wait and see what happens and keep all this disgrace nonsense under wraps until we know what the full outcome will be.
Well lets hope he has more than ''a'' player lined up to play in defence as I''m not sure either Nelson or Askou will cut it at Championship level and Whitbread is constantly injured and when he isn''t, he hasn''t looked that great! The Doc was our most consistent talented central defender this season. Nelson was great in the air but is slow and his distribution is woeful just as Askou''s is.
Spot on but it was at a level he is good enough to play at, the Championship is a different kettle of fish.
 2.
surely that suggests his wage wasn''t thathighthen? If we could afford his wages at the end of last season then surely we could afford them now...
My point exactly, we will be much better off financially and able to settle his demands than we were last season. I would imagine this is purely a footballing decision.
 3. Some people are going way over the top over the release of Doherty, he''s been here 6 years now and in truth he''s had one very good season at a lower level and 5 average to poor ones as part of a defence that''s conceded far to many goals at a higher level. There''s no room for sentiment in football and if we want to push towards the top end of the championship we will need better defenders than Gary Doherty. Right decision by Lambert imo, Doc has had his time here and we should wish him good luck and move on.
 4.
Still think we are likely to add to the Centre Backs. The only decent one thats free i can think of is Steven Caldwell.Unless of course Lambert already has a replacement lined up.
I would have thought we''ll have some money to spend on transfer fees and won''t be relying entirely on free transfers.
 5. Some people seem to think that Doc being released could be because he''s on big wages but surely if that was the case he''d have been allowed to go last year for a nominal fee. Of course it could also be that we have some money to spend and can afford better.
 6.
His large wages was probably one of the main reasons behind it too.
If his wages were any thing to do with it he''d have been gone a year ago, we are a lot better off now than 12 months ago.Wouldn''t be surprised if we signed another centre back to partner Whitbread with Askou and Nelson as back up.
 7. I don''t see how anyone can be shocked that doc is leaving, done very well for us this year in League 1 but has been part of a defence that was woeful for the previous 3 years in the championship. Good luck doc and well done Paul Lambert.
 8. Got to admire him for the loyalty he has shown and I wish him well, Lambert obviously doesn''t think he''s good enough for the championship.
 9. Wouldn''t be surprised if this were true tbh, Doc has been good in League 1 but Lambert will probaly be mindful of the fact that he was part of a dodgy defence when we were in the championship before.

Just waiting for another "we''ve got investment lined up" type of speech she came out with at the Norfolk Show Ground. I fully expect her to go missing again if we struggle next year. Congrats to Lambert & his team but can''t celebrate the people that got us to the third tier of football for the first time in my lifetime.
Well said Mike.
Brilliant. Remind me again, which one of you is on the left ?
12. Refuse to get excited about rumours anymore but hope it''s true.
 13.
Why on earth let Kermorgant take a peno when King and Wellenshad not taken one? Surely they would have been much beter peno takers?
I think it''s more down to who has the bottle to volunteer to take them rather than the manager telling the players they have to take one.
 14.
They paid over a mil, they will want their mil back, we haven''t got anywhere near a mil, wont happen![/quote/]I don''t think he''d come here anyway but I''d be most surprised and disappointed if we didn''t have a million quid to spend on a player or players after what our chairman has said about having a budget to challenge the top six.
 15. It was 4.8 million, did I also read somewhere that West Brom and Newcastles 2nd year parachute payments are shared out?
 16. I wouldn''t want any of the ex players back, very rarely is it that a player returns to a club and are as good as they were in their first spell. Plus we have a different manager now and I''m sure he has his own ideas on players he''d like to bring in.
 17.

This reminds of when we played Sheffield Wednesday in 06/07. They overtook our average attendance for the season because we brought about 5,000 away fans for the last game of the season. Its a real shame about our ground capacity as there are potentially about 4,000 extra supporters who could be accomodated if the team was doing well in the championship.  I don''t blame the club for building the hotel because financially it probably made a lot more sense than an infill. You would have obviously lost a fair bit of the infill to segregation and would have required extra police for that side of the ground. The only logical solution as we have said many times before appears to be that something has to be done with the City Stand. However we simply don''t have the money to do that, plus I don''t think we''d be guranteed the gates of 30,000 plus to justify it.
The 39,000 sell out wasn''t a reason? I do wonder how big a crowd we could get in stadiums like Elland Road or Hillsborough week in week out or particularly for the big games, i''ve heard in the past demand for games against Ipswich is over 40,000.
The last Ipswich game was sold out a month before the game took place so it''s entirely possible that is the case although I''d say nearer 35k in the Championship and 40k is definitely a possibility in the prem
 18. That contradicts what Bowkett said in his programme notes about us having a budget to compete with the top 6, I''d be very surprised if any less than 5 new players come in.
 19.

I was in the Jarrold stand and it came over loud and clear that Smith and Jones were doing the draw, the announcer asked for a round of applause for our majority shareholders and there was a few who applauded them in the flask and blanket stand but nobody anywhere else. I''d say that at least 70% of the crowd were still in the ground so there were plenty left to applaud them but the majority obviously decided not to.
I''m pretty sure they didn''t ask for a round of applause, it was just announced that they were coming on the pitch to do the draw. Going back to the OP I don''t think their is to much to read into the crowds reaction.
I think their actual words were "could you please welcome our majority shareholders", don''t see why it''s so hard for some to believe that not all of us feel like we actually want to applaud them after how poor our team has been for the last few years.

 21.
...to your goalkeeper that night at Elland Road. We went crazy then but never knew how vital those 2 extra points would be. Player of the season?
Thanks for reminding us of that, still at least we gained our revenge with that 89th minute winner at Carrow Road a few weeks ago.
 22.
yeah fair enough but still our budget was a lot bigger than nearly all of the teams that season, my point was its not how much its how well you spend.
I think it''s a comination of both tbh, if you have a good manager with money to spend you would almost definitely be in the shake up for promotion. If you have a good manager with very little money you will overachieve and may possibly make the play offs as Blackpool have done this year.Generally the teams with the most money will finish top as Newcastle and West Brom proved and although there will always be exceptions that''s the way it works most of the time, don''t particularly like it but that''s the way it is and unless we have found a bit of money from somewhere I think the most we can reasonably expect is to do a Blackpool next year which I''d be more than happy with.
 23.
its good news, but even when we got relegated im sure i read that our playing budget was similar of wolves who went up.
I think our wages budget may have been the same but the difference was that they also had an additional amount that was avaliable to spend on transfer fees, they spent a couple of million quid on Ewbanks Blake from Plymouth which equated to far more for one player than we spent in total.
 24. I know we are in debt but so are most clubs and some are in a far worse position than us, difference is we probably have a higher turnover than most of the clubs we will be competing against next season so I would be disappointed if we couldn''t compete with the top six in terms of budget. Problem is that many of our fans seem to take for granted and accept that we don''t have any money when in reality we should expect to be able to compete with most clubs in the championship and regularly challenge the top six. I know the championship is tougher than league 1 but as long as you have a group of committed players with 3 or 4 of them that posess a bit of quality you have a realistic chance of making the play offs or better.
 25.
Not being funny Arther but I thought the Fan of the Season award was presented before the match not at Half Time?
Smith and Jones were on the pitch at half time to do the ambassadors draw
