  1. This is the Wembley no-park zone http://brent.gov.uk/media/1973329/Event%20day%20parking%20zone%20map.pdf My local station is Northwick Park has no residents restrictions and there''s a big pub two minutes walk away. Never had a problem there, so far. It''s two stops to Wembley Park.
  2. For those driving then tubing it from Norwich using A505/A1 Stanmore car park is quite large, is around £5.00 for the day, but likely to fill up as Boro fans who are driving would more than likely be using the A1(M). Would probably need to arrive early-ish. There’s street parking at Canons Park (next stop down the Jubilee line) but restrictions which may or may not apply on a Bank Holiday, not really sure. The restriction zone ends around half mile from CP station. No idea re parking Queensbury + Kingsbury. My local station Northwick Park is the first station on the Met Line outside the event parking zone (link below) and there’s no restriction but it does get crowded around the station. There’s also a big pub, the Travellers Rest, only a couple of minutes walk from Northwick Park station. It’s a Premier Inn pub, will no doubt be less crowded than pubs around Wembley. http://brent.gov.uk/media/1973329/Event%20day%20parking%20zone%20map.pdf The event parking zone is around 30 minutes walk from Wembley. A one off tube paper ticket is expensive might be up to £4 so if you don’t have an Oyster Card it won’t be cheap.
  3. Wonder how the 1p5shit ticket office will “police” that Given how the whitewash BBC report on the trouble before + after the 1-5 game gave the first recommendation to not sell tickets to away fans in home areas. Little mention of the shambles of a police operation that evening.
  4. Agreed, the Old Red Lion is the place. Owner is a City fan. Always very busy when we are on TV
  5. I won''t be at the Old Red Lion for the Boro match, but have been several times for City matches, good atmosphere and full of City fans. Well worth a visit to watch the game there.
  6. A guy who I used to work with many years ago was(is) still a big Leeds fan, attended the Leeds vs Coventry semi-final in 1987 – two years earlier. This was also played at Hillsborough and Leeds were allocated the Leppings Lane End of the ground. Remember chatting with him about in the days after the 1989 semi-final as at the time I didn’t know he was at the 1987 game. How he described his experience there is very much the same as the words in the link below. http://thehillsboroughdisasterdocumentary.com/2011/11/18/hillsborough-leeds-v-coventry-1987-semi-final/
  7. http://www.out-law.com/en/articles/2014/august/is-posting-football-vines-copyright-infringement/   “Broadcast footage is protected by copyright, but a new exception to copyright due to come into force in October will introduce a general qualified right to quote copyrighted works. It may be possible for individuals and organisations, such as betting companies for example, to rely on this new exception to justify the posting of Premier League clips online provided there is sufficient acknowledgment. Ultimately only a court could make it clear exactly what the new law allows”   I think the above applies to Vines filed from the TV, as they are already publicly broadcast.  So I think this is illegal, pending a test case for commercial use.   Sports rights holders need to be aware that there is a difference in the law which governs fans posting clips of TV footage to that which governs fans posting clips of live action from the sidelines of the match itself.   “The Premier League and member clubs need to work with social media platforms to help them identify and remove copyright infringing clips. Ultimately they may need to go to court to establish a precedent on what types of clips from games infringe copyright and where the news reporting or quotation ''fair dealing'' exceptions cannot be relied on by either media companies, other organisations or the general public”   I think this refers to vines filmed inside the ground; So I think this is still legal, pending a test case.   Interestingly a few  of years ago (11/12 season) I posted a youtube clip of a free kick City too at Stoke on Saturday night and Sunday morning received a very terse standard Youtube notification that my clip had been removed and don’t do it again. I was then that I was told that this was ok but Youtube just took them down anyway. (I didn’t either check what I was told nor challenge this)   Lots more words posted in the article above (it italics) I’ve just pasted a couple of paras.
  8. Disagree with OP. Provided Bassong stays fit, I think City will go up automatically regardless of the result on Sunday.
  9. I’ve met a few of the players over the years. The ones I have met I’ve always found them approachable and decent to chat to. Highlights were being on the Scrimmage with Dean Ashton who seemed quite shy to me. When Darren Huckerby came down to London to promote his book I hosted the Q&A which was great fun. Although he had to get back he kept on asking for more questions and didn’t’ mind staying on late for us. On another occasion, also after a Radio Norfolk show Hucks gave me and a pal a lift back to Norwich station from near the Forum. When we arrived back to his car he found a parking ticket on his window and was not happy!
  10. (I also coincidentally just posted same on WotB) I met Peter Cullum, had a chat about his dalliance with NCFC all those years ago. It was on the train back from Man City after we’d lost 1-5, late 2011. He was spotted by a pal who thought it was him. So I sat down near, checked and saw it was PC. He was quite happy to chat with us, told me quite a bit more than I thought he would. He’d been a guest of the Board (my assumption here ) as he said he’d watched the game from the directors box.
  11. Jerome Clingan?? It was decent game and a very beery day out from London. We saw Alan Lee’s debut and Gunny decided to play Alan Gow (The Emo) on the wing in a 4-5-1 formation after he had actually played decently as a second striker in the previous two games. Thought City played quite well in the first half which ended up 0-1 and we could have lost it at the end after surviving quite a bit of Brum pressure. St Andrews reminded me of Portaloo Road due to the swathes of empty blue seats as the ground was barely half full. Definitely one of the better away days in a dreadful season.
  12. Am I alone in thinking that Hughton might be the sort of manager Fulham need at the moment? After the last eighteen months they need some stability and organisation and he will give certainly give them that. Granted, it might not be very exciting football, but the objective this year must be to stay in the championship and they won’t do that if they continue to concede nearly three goals per game.
  13. And just seen on twitter: - Audience for England''s soggy display against Norway? 4.5m. The Great British Bake Off was watched by 8.3m.
  14. Another couple of observations about the lack of interest in yesterday evening’s game My wife works in an area where there are event parking notices if there’s something going at Wembley. They were not in operation yesterday. I needed to drive past the end of the road where the Torch pub is (left out of Wembley Park station) as I picked my daughter up from playing golf. There was no little or no traffic and only saw a handful of supporters walking to the ground. This was around 6.30pm. My twitter timeline, normally full of comments whilst England are playing was very much quieter than usual. As for me, I watched 30 minutes of the first half then switched it off.
  15. From a check of the www today it looked to me as if the City team may or may not have been known to a number of people outside NCFC perhaps a day before kick off. Tim
  16. A couple of the City social media team left a year or so ago, to Cardiff + Leicester and it went downhill very rapidly after that. (I’m assuming it was these two that did this). I just do twitter and not Facebook so cannot comment on that.   Nowadays I follow the club twitter just to see how bad it has become, constant re-posts of the same stories, banal re-tweets of rubbish, the low point of which was a picture of a girl with two M+M’s on her tongue, one yellow and one green.   The link from the pic that the NCFC official feed tweeted is here   https://twitter.com/jessicatopson/status/391204449903198210/photo/1   There were a few inaccurate comments with pictures posted as well. The recent Chelsea tactical analysis was just painful to read.   It’s only really worth following between 3pm/5pm Saturday afternoon if I’m out and about; that aside it’s just bad.   Yes as the OP has mentioned, it’s tough when we are having a bad time of it on the pitch but surely they can do better?   Tim
  17. There should have been a competition each week run by Norwich City FC to select a couple of random fans to do the substitutions and change the on-field formation or tactics during the game. Throughout the season it’s unlikely they would have done a worse job that Hughton and his assistants.
  18. Wealdstone, of the Ryman Premier League. And as regards Luton, who have been mentioned a few times on this thread, they are my Mum’s all time least favourite club. She has a long memory!
  19. Good luck to Will, always found him a decent guy to chat to. A bit unnerved when I first met him a few years ago, I introduced myself and he said "Ah you''re Tim Allman are you?" (or something like that.) For all you conspiracy theorists that post on here, Will’s LinkedIn profile says “Exploring new opportunities at UK”.
  20. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but unless I’m mistaken ALL the reports of transfer speculation on the PinkUn or EDP are second hand. Can anyone think of a recent exception to this? So no scaremongering, just recycling of other papers or websites reports which are all in the public domain.
  21. They are all league cup semi-final opponents for City over the years.
  22. Supporting the youth team at Vicarage Road vs Watford, 1pm kick off.
  23. The delightful Paul Ince, Manager of the MK Thugs when City were in League 1. Crocked two of our players in the away game when City unluckily lost 1-2. I read his team had 128 yellow cards** in that season, 3 per game average, including nearly double figures in the 1-1 draw at Carrow Road. I think they had around 40 more than the second worst team in League that season. **Can be checked on Soccerbase but it will take time
  24. When I used to organise the Capital Canaries home travel and I couldn’t get to the game I used to pop round to Maurice’s flat and drop off the train tickets to him so we could take them up to Kings Cross or Liverpool Street. (I only live 15 minutes away from where he lives). An obvious choice as he was nearly always the first one at the station on Saturday morning, the most organised and was 100% reliable as he didn’t go out to the pub Friday night and turn up late! Not that any of the Capital Canaries ever do this of course.
  25. Enjoyed watching that, especially as City won. It was good to see Capital Canaries Legend Maurice Sills get on the pitch again; 98 years young and still travelling up from London for games. He’s still keeping up with the youngsters thanks to his energy and enthusiasm for the game.
