TBF I think that was youthful exuberance. His style is settling down well now (under Pete's guidance?) and is less verbose and more importantly starting to convey more sense!

I can't take any credit - I haven't worked on the sports desk for nearly 10 years plus Connor is an exceptionally bright lad and a talent who will go far.

I have taught them in the ways of subtle moderation though so hopefully you won't see any huge changes - plus they're all far too busy to provide any sort of heavy-handed moderation.

Good luck in wherever you’re heading Pete and all the best. Will it still be in journalism or has the Archant experience been more than enough ?

Thanks for helping me out so many times when my stupid computer wouldn’t co-operate and best warn your successor I’ll be giving him or similar hassle as soon as I track down their email address 😉

Definitely staying within journalism but after 20 years it's time for a change.

All the very best, Pete – onwards and upwards for you, I hope. You were always a friendly face around Prospect House when I was working there, and I'm sure your talents will be greatly appreciated by whomever you work for next. I echo what others have said in that I really appreciate you having moderated the board with such a light touch.

If you don't want to answer this publicly then fair enough, but how confident are you in the assurances you've been given that the board will continue? I know a couple of years ago a group of us talked seriously about the possibility of 'buying' and/or taking over the database – I hope that in the eventuality that NewsQuest no longer wanted the responsibility of the board, there would at least be a channel for us as fans to have the opportunity to club together to migrate the site to a new host. In the parlance of closing pubs, it is an asset of community value for sure!

100% confident. More than 1 million page views a month with zero resource/effort required on the editorial side.

  4. I have decided to head off to pastures new and next Friday will be my last day at the publisher formerly known as Archant.

I have been assured that this messageboard will still exist when the sites migrate over to NewsQuest. I just need to decide which fortunate soul on the sports desk will be responsible for moderating the forum.

I'll pop my head on here every now and then as a fan under this profile:

    All the best and OTBC!

Having watched the replay the Coventry guy was offside when the initial cross came in and never regained onside before the ball hit the net. In fact it looks like he was behind Krul and ducked out of the way of the shot.

    Clearly offside.

    That was my understanding also.

I wonder whether Pete Raven or somebody else from Archant could actually search their archives (assuming digitalised) to answer this question and determine whether its a myth or fact.

I’ll have a look. I remember being told similar when growing up.

On the lastest Along come Norwich pod one of the guests said she knew in advance what the shirts would be due to connections and she's been told what the 3rd shirt is, didn't reveal anything other than "its out there" so if she if she is right id guess a wonderfully wacky monstrosity

Clare also used the word "psychedelic".
