  1. AJ (et al). I will not be harsh. See Susie Bs response for one answer to your question. Maybe you should also: (a) develop a sense of gentle ironic humour (b) learn to think outside of the box (c) learn to spell (d) relax (nearly 500 posts since 14 Dec 2003 !!) (e) understand that a little variety is the spice of life. One love. OTBC
  2. I see that City (13th) are above Manchester United (17th)!!! It reads even better if the table is read based on points - City (5th=) whilst United are way down at 17th= !!!!!!!!! Statistically Saturday should be a doddle! OTBC
  3. I wonder if there is competition for a starting place between Huckerby and Bentley.........and someone is getting the grumps!!!!!!!!! OTBC
  4. Masked Poster - I can only asume that you must be Chase in disguise. OTBC
  5. But I hear that Overmars shops at Tesco. OTBC - never mind the danger.
  6. Pennant a ''massive star'', you must be joking. I''ll start with Martin Peters and Martin O''Neill. I repeat. Have confidence.
  7. Poster on Dodgy Rumours claims that his dad works at Norwich Airport and saw Mark Overmars being met on arrival today by a NCFC representative. OTBC.
  8. Agreed kdncfc. Too much inferiotity complexes around. Some people seem too young perhaps to remember that we have spent 21 of the past 33 years in the top league (= premiership). 4 of the remaining 12 were promotion to the top league years. Have some confidence! We''ve been there before or very near - year in, year out - with Ron Saunders, John Bond, Dave Stringer, and Mike Walker. And I believe that Worthy is (and will remain) another good''un. On top of that Delia is a worthy (!) successor to those fine Chairmen George Watling and Arthur South. We''ve been there, done that before. And here it all is again. Have confidence in City''s top league. I''d better stop now. But have confidence. OTBC.
  9. There seems something odd about the path that this deal is taking. How come City seem so sure that both Primus the player, and separately Portsmouth the club, can be tempted. Why would Portsmouth let him go rather than offer him a deservedly improved contract (given the way they currently operate) - or is it just Harry wheeling & dealing and Mandaric playing hardball? Don''t get me wrong, I saw three/four of pompey''s games live on TV & in full late last season. Their crowd was terrific and Linvoy was terrific (both never give up) - and the dominant crowd chant was "Linvoy for England". I really do wish Worthy good luck on this one as I predict that, if recruited, Primus will soon become a real crowd favourite and part of the heart and soul of City. OTBC.
  10. I thought that it was the middle third of the old south stand that was covered first. Or maybe my memory is playing tricks? OTBC
  11. Brings back some memories. Has there ever been a faster City player than the crewcut Canadian Errol Crossan? As I remember his technique was to push the ball 15 yards ahead down the right touchline -giving the opposing left back up to a 5 yard start - and simply hare past him 9 times out of 10. A dangerous low cross or a fizzing shot would follow. To great effect too. Look at his record of 32 goals in 116 games as a winger.
  12. I see that Dodgy Rumours suggests that City will be signing Milan Baros on a one year loan basis. No harm in wishful thinking, but......coiuld he be a possibility for the vacant no. 9 shirt given all the circumstances???!!! The ability to score sufficient goals will be absolutely critical to a mid-table finish. OTBC
  13. Interesting discussion, but ........ Let''s remember that the premiership transfer window closes on 31 August! One effect here is that the closer to the deadline, the more the selling club can ''hold the buyer to ransom'' Mr Muzinic cost 300,000 pounds in 1973. Monkeys do not always cost peanuts! OTBC
  14. Has to be Drazen Muzinic in terms of value for money. 300,000 pounds over 30 years ago - Wow! OTBC
  15. If City try and play like Greece (or England!!!!!!!!!!!) and defend too deep against most premiership teams, the season will be a disaster. Without goalpower and the mindset to take the game to the opposition sufficiently, the season will be one long struggle - and boring for neutrals just like all Greece''s games in Euro 2004. Greece resemble a serial passing moderate South American team imbued with German discipline. It was one of those days that make football so fascinating - when the poorer team on the day wins against the odds. 9 times out of 10 the Czechs would beat them. Lets hope that all have learnt the lesson of the latter part of last season. Superior fitness and organisation , disciplined aggression; and above all the will to take the game to the opposition allied to goalpower - this will be the formula for success next season. City have done it before under Saunders and Bond and Brown and Stringer and Walker (and yes, Macauley), and if they will believe in themselves they can do it again - but not by 1-9-1 or defending on the edge of the penalty area for 85 minutes. OTBC
  16. Only those who never saw him in action are likely to vote for other than Kevin Keelan - he was so consistently amazing over many years. Woods, Gunn, Green, Kennon - all excellent keepers, but still a level or two below Keelan. OTBC
  17. The Pink''un headline of 10 January 1959 when City as a Third Division (South) side played Manchester United (Bobby Charlton and all) off the park at Carrow Road by 3-0 in the 3rd round of the FA Cup read "Bly, Bly, Babes". Terry Bly scored 2 goals that famous day when we outfootballed the Busby Babes in a phenomenal display. I can still clearly recall looking on from the River End how that team 0f 1958-60 used to short pass the ball out of defence as cool as cucumber - especially on the left - Barry Butler, Ron Ashman, Matt Crowe, Bobby Brennan, Jimmy Hill et al with cool 5-10 yard passes Brazilian style!! That was the start of the modern era for City and was a wonderful, wonderful time just like now. OTBC
  18. That he prefers to play for West Brom just shows we are really better off without him. Lucky miss! OTBC
  19. Sorry, but in my view the good news will be when City deny interest. Apart from having heavy feet and being clumsy, he also seems to have an attitude problem. Ask Alan Shearer. It looks like he can physically dominate ''lesser'' players, but that ''better'' players frustrate him into dangerous rashness. Not at all in the City tradition of hard but fair. OTBC
  20. I think that as a rule City should steer clear of over-30''s in seeking to strengthen the squad. Unless, and only unless, we have the good fortune to attract a player of the HIGHEST class, who is also a consumate professional, of good character, fit, not injury-prone and in love with the game. Previous successful City managers have signed such Canary icons with tremendous benefits in terms of leadership, example, invaluable experience and insight - and simply raising the performance bar for the whole squad. Examples who come to mind are Bobby Brennan (in his place and time), Martin Peters, Martin O''Neil and Mick Channon. Please no ageing crocks, no fading prima donnas, no expensive gambles in this age-group. Is there a future City icon out there?? Any suggestions? OTBC
  21. Must be Dragen Muzinic. Cost 300,000 pounds in around 1972-74. I wonder what 300k is worth today?
  22. Over the past 46 years it has to be the one and only KEVIN KEELAN. Hands down. Argument done. My wife agrees - so that''s 3 votes! He also had a good right hook as far as I recall!! OTBC.
  23. Wimbledon 0 City 12 Nethercott Kennon Thurlow Ashman McCrohan Butler Crowe Crossan Allcock Bly Hill Brennan None better, yet
