They'll put the kids in the shop window by highlighting how fantastic they all were (Godfrey had Joelinton in his pocket and Todd/Max/Jamal had a great game) and say gracious things about Pukki (there will a Gary Lineker smug joke about the Golden Boot) and then go on and on about how a massive club like Newcastle deserves better blahdy blahdy blah...

Just about spot on, except they will highlight the turmoil within Newcastle and have that as a main reason they lost today. However, it is early days and we will produce a number of these displays, as we saw last season.

They will take notice soon, that's for sure.

Wasn’t it Joelinton that fouled Aarons? Disgraceful tackle that could’ve been so much worse for Max. Hopefully there’s been no issue since the match, looked a nasty one.

It certainly did. I wouldn't say it was a dirty match but they were targeting a couple of our more influential players, that's for sure.

  3. Watched the game live in a foreign field. 4 of us in city colors with a smattering of pool fans, of which virtually all were plastics. One behind us had only ever been to a reserve game but dissected it like a surgeon (boring git) then proceeded to comment on the whole game calling each player by a made up nick name.

he was very quiet second half.

It was purely first night nerves and two very unlucky first goals against us.

As a couple of the plastics said to us ‘play like that and you’ll have no trouble!’

They and I were pleasently surprised.

Based on how sales went for the first two home games I would say the chances are low. It will be interesting to see how sales go as the season progresses.

Quick bit of maths - Capacity 27,200 minus 21,500 season tickets sold = 5700 seats available minus away tickets sold (if you say the away team brings at least 1000 fans) the most you are looking at is 4700 seats being available, plus a few via the buyback scheme. Given that there are at least 6000 Premier Members who get the first chance to buy tickets and I assume there is no limit on how many they can buy you can see that it is very unlikely that Standard Members or Season Ticket holders will get a look in........

Not trying to sound too pedantic but I believe Lewisky116's chance are less than this Faded.

Capacity is 27,200 but roughly 100 are left for the separation between away and home support.

We have 22,000 season ticket holders capped at that level, with an away capacity of roughly 2400 maximum I believe for the largest support, if they take them (Newcastle returned a few).

That leaves approximately 2600 available tickets per match. Then there are the tickets for staff and players guests, corporate and promotional tickets and probably a few thrown in various competitions.

All in all, it leaves very little for the casual supporter or various class of membership.

I would suggest there is absolutely no chance unless you are a priority member of getting a ticket through the office the usual way. However, a few spankings along the way may temper the spirit in some to come to Carrow Rd.

What a time to be alive!

  5. I think a lot of people, especially the hordes of neutrals out there are going to hugely enjoy watching Norwich City FC this season.

If last season is anything to go by, and looking at the friendlies we haven't changed our style, we gained a lot of praise because of it. This season will cement, in the minds of the watching public, the superb style of football we play here.

Prepare yourselves for VAR controversy, excuses will be made and don’t worry “it’s only Norwich”

    I can see it now.

The referee will turn down an obvious penalty to Norwich in the 89th minute, VAR will overturn that poor decision and we win the game 0-1.

This is of course not in the planning around the Premiership curtain raiser and as a result, with immense outrage and pressure from the supporters of Liverpool, VAR will be cancelled for the rest of the season pending a review held by giants of the game such as Alan Hansen and Mark Lawrence.

  7. My boy and I liked the new score board / digital strips along the Barclay and River ends and thought they improved the overall vista.

What I was not particularly impressed with is the new design on the top of the city stand with the bright Red Dafabet frontage on it. Although I have looked at that stand every season since it was built, it looks very small now with the striking Red of the new sponsor highlighting the size of it.

Pitch looks in superb state as usual.

Seriously though I don't think Puuki is playing with 100% commitment in these friendlies. I reckon he's got a gear or two to go yet.

I suspect DF instructed a few of our players to be careful out there yesterday, and good advice too. Watching the game, there is no doubt Pukki was not at it 100%, but he still anticipates the final pass with lightening speed over the first few yards. Cleaver player.

  9. City played well throughout this game against a skilful Toulouse who liked to keep possession. Had this been a league game we would have won by a few more such was our balance and general progressive play. Toulouse did not just turn up, they wanted this have no doubt.

Pukki's chance first half was at my end and he was closed down quick. I suspect if this was not a friendly he may have got a goal as he pulled out of a few challenges.

Stand out performer was Todd Cantwell, he looked superb the whole game, trying various tricks to move the ball forward and then winning possession when needed. If he keeps his place for Liverpool I would not be surprised. Just need the halfwits to keep off his back (which will not happen) this season and we may have an excellent player on our hands. Hanley should have had a couple and is back to his best. However, we will need out back 4/5 to be at their best this season.

Our front 4 look really effective and I say wait till MOTD starts to notice and comments on them. Hernandez (one of my favourite players) came on and won everything.

We have a good set of 14/5 players but unfortunately our weakness is our centre back positions, especially with the injuries.

Only Hanley and Godfrey played the whole game!

  10. If they play like they did at the leeds away game then with the assistance of VAR (who will be a friend to us this season overall), I believe we could scrape a draw, or provide a scintillating display and great result.

If more like Forest at home after the lights came back on then just run for cover...…….

They have the ability to deliver to us our first serious spanking. Something hoped by MOTD and other biased based reporters out there. However, despite the fixture list which threw up this 'random' match as the first of the season for the European champions to mount their challenge against a much weaker team, it may just go our way.

To make up for losses the first thing Evan's will surely hope to do is sell off the training ground, which he now owns, for housing development which means that the club will virtually be reduced to non-league status and be training on the local park.

It would not surprise me if after two years in that league the plans to sell off part of that training ground for housing will be revealed.

  12. If attempting to ridicule one of our current stripes is the height of their temerity, then they really have sunk to a new low. The amount of sour grapes and bitterness swilling around Portaloo road has obviously reach bursting point.

It must stick in their throats to see our current level compared to theirs and over the last 15-20 years, and it has hardly changed. Think about that for a moment, over the near last two decades your nearest rivals are constantly coming up smelling of roses , but you (ipswich for the dim witted folk from there looking at this) just bob along with a wiff of sh1te about you in everything you do or undertake. Must be difficult to watch for them.

However, the Op is correct they are literally now irrelevant in the footballing world and I suspect quite a few of them realise this. It could get worse for them yet, I have absolutely  no idea about their squad or who's in it, but I suspect 'Marcus the saviour' is not the generous type he once was.

I bet they think they are going to storm the league. Bless...

  13. I can see them surviving (with us). I liked what I saw of them last season and they were, in my opinion, probably the best team to come to Carrow Road. They have a noisy passionate crowd behind them and have recently popped up from L1 which will provide incentive.

They had few players on loan and similar to us a number keen to show the footballing world what they can achieve. Wilder, whether you like him or not is clearly a motivator and with a good wind behind them they could push on. A proper team.

However, I am really looking forward to seeing how our season unravels and secretly expect us to finish comfortably in mid table with some really eye catching displays. I honestly can not wait.

Our style of football (which has been the hall mark of NCFC for years) will be lauded. Mark my words.
