I'm sure that McCallum will get a new contract if we fail to go up because he's cheaper than keeping Giannoulis, who will clearly be for the chopping block to cut the wage bill unless we sneak up through the play offs.

But people are getting way too excited about Sorenson looking good against the team in 24th who have 19 fewer points than the team in 23rd, who have just lost their 9th game in a row and haven't won a game since 26th December.

Yes Sorenson looks good against opposition who are firmly League One quality. Looks like a complete passenger in many games against Championship quality opposition, and that's when he's fit which is not very often. For me he's one we say goodbye too, these flashes of quality are all too fleeting, been here 4 years and not done much at all. He's the defensive midfield version of Placheta, an eternal prospect based on some fleeting moments of quality and a few attributes which tell us that he should on paper be good, but for whatever reason just isn't.

New contract if he's cheap as a squad filler, on the basis of him being able to cover a few positions in a squad that will inevitably be thin due to budget constraints if we don't go up perhaps, but we'll be in serious trouble if he's one of our best XI players next season. He'd be a good first team player for Rotherham though, I'll give you that.

Based on what ??. He has played.a handful of games at DM in his time here .That is his position. Instead he is asked to fill in at LB, CD and RB. He is then deemed as a passenger. Yesterday was the chance to play him in his correct position and move McLean to the back but they didn’t do it. A new contract for him will be down to his injury record which has been very poor. I would like him to have a run of games between now and end of season in his preferred position.to see whether he gets a contract.

  2. Utterly ridiculous. People judge him on a handful of games in his usual position and say he is not good enough. Even on Weds he was moved to centre back after 20 mins again. Yet the hapless McLean has had about 300 games to prove himself. When he has played at DM- it’s usually alongside McLean.  McLean has done great at CB and I would keep him in the team at this position. He played well with Sara as DM and should get another chance . If after a run of games he does badly then get rid . His woeful injury record is a reason not to renew his contract but his form is not. Even the great Farke only started performing when he brought Tettey back in the mix. Instead I suspect it will be McLean and Sara in midfield again which is a poor mix as both are better forward. Sort the midfield out and the club may yet have a chance this season.

  3. Mine would be

                             Gunn

    Stacey. Duffy McLean. Gianoullis

                   Sorensen       Sara

       Rowe.         Nunez.      Sainz

                          Sergeant

I am no great McLean fan but the goals against column has improved since he went to that position and he has done well

Sorensen is a CDM and I believe is fit again. He must play until someone better is bought- he played well there with Sara (till he got injured again).

Believe Dimi offers more than McCallum going forward although it’s a tight decision.

The front 4 pick themselves. I see no room for Barnes in this system and like many do not see what he offers the team apart from hard work and experience

  4. While Kenny is not “the problem”, he does not contribute anything tangible. He doesn’t score goals , he creates very few assists, he doesn’t create killer passes, he is not a dead ball specialist, he is not a defensive midfielder and tackling is not the best part of his game . So what does he do??? He runs a lot , he tries hard, he is the captain, he talks a good game, he is consistent but what does he actually produce?. Yes- managers keep picking him but I just can’t see why. There’s only room for him or Sara. Sara scores goals and Kenny does not - he should therefore be a bench-warmer.

  5. Slightly different for me-

                          Long

    Stacey  Warner Baath Gianoullis

                  Forshaw Sorensen

        Nunez.     Sara.         Sainz

                         Rowe

Double DM- no room for Idah, Gibson or McLean ( who competes with Sara for the advanced role)

Did you watch tonights game? It's shocking that these players call themselves professionals. It's worse than Dean Smith football.

Totally agree with last 2 posts. Play Sorensen and Forshaw together with Sara further forward. Reduce the marauding from the fullbacks. Every game we are conceding more shots on goal than the opposition . The defence needs to tighten up- I still worry at the other end with no Sergeant. Play Rowe up front as our leading scorer with Sainz on wing replacing him . Baath needs a game . For me Gibson and McLean to take a break. It can’t get any worse.

  7. McLean should be the most worried as he is effectively filling the DM position that we don’t have. Sorensen doesn’t get a run and he is so injury prone and Lima is still acclimatising ?.  This has gone on for too long - even Man City have a defensive midfielder ( he did get sent off though yesterday !).  The defence is poor but without the shield in front of it, the team is so exposed.  Lima and Sara together is a mouth - watering prospect .

  8. Big Fish- got to say I disagree. Every successful team in history has had a good CDM. Usually the unheralded player who holds everything together. Caicedo, Kovacic, Vieira, Busquets, Desailly, Kante to name just a few. Teams that don’t have one do not do well. It’s not a Kenny bashing- it’s to say that someone needs to do that role and he is not suited to it as are none of the others.

  9. McLean is better in an advanced role. The team needs a proper DM- this will help the defence and I am convinced will stop the mass concession of goals. In this system you either sacrifice a winger or it’s a straight choice between McLean and Sara. I wonder which of those gets in?. McLean is versatile but does not provide goals , assists, penalties or free kicks. He also does not give the defensive cover required. There is a place for him but I don’t think it should be first XI. I would have been keen to try Sorensen at DM for an extended.run to see what happens but his abysmal injury record means the club must buy someone with the Aarons money. Get the right player and Norwich will be in the promotion mix this season.

  10. Sorensen and Sara partnership worked really well . Sorensen had great games in the Millwall and Blackburn games . He then got moved due to an injury in the defence . He played a couple of good games in the Prem before being injured . He has played CDM probably less than 10 times in his Norwich career so far. While the club still needs to buy a big string CDM, I also think Sorensen deserves  a chance . Can’t see how he can judged for his competence as CDM when he has not played enough games there. He also needs the right combo- Sorensen next to McLean did not work well generally

  11. It’s pretty simple .

DO NOT play Lungi at CB

DO NOT play Pukki and Sergeant.

DO play Lungi as DM along Sara

    DO push Gibbs further forward.

Put Byram or Warner at CB.

We will win if we do this but I suspect we will keep the same line up which would be a disaster !
