  1. I am not sure whether Maddison is being advised by an agent or just his family, but hopefully he goes to a club where he stands a good chance of playing on a regular basis. He comes across as a level headed person who appreciates the chance given to him by Norwich. I really hope he does go on to have a full international career.
  2. I have to agree with you hairy as I always thought Pinto was a liability at RB and very poor in the air. I assume you saw a lot of Reed last season yellowrider, but I seem to remember he won quite a few of his aerial duels against taller players by getting his timing right when jumping for the ball. Based on what I saw last season I would play Reed before Pinto at RB. The first time I watched Godfrey he was playing RB so he could be another option for Farke.
  3. You do tend to contradict yourself in saying that he did a decent enough job, but is not a right back. You don''t necessarily have to be tall to be a right back. There are numerous players who end up playing in a different position to where they started. Luke Young at Man Utd was an out and out winger and is now first choice left back. Dublin was a centre forward and then a centre half.
  4. How can you assume that Godfrey and Thompson have zero chance just because we might go for Reed. I would bring Reed back because he proved his versatility by playing both at RB for Pinto and in midfield, but more importantly, he had a full season in the championship; which neither Godfrey or Thompson did. If neither of them are loaned out then I can see both of them getting a chance next season.
  5. I am not disappointed because we have made good money on the sale, in my opinion, of an average player. Good luck to both the Murphy brothers for being signed by premiership clubs, and only time will tell if either of them move to a bigger club. In Buendia, Hernandez and the returning Wildshutt and Cantwell we have four options for wide players. More importantly however Webber will have a reasonable budget to spend on at least two strikers, assuming both Oliveira and Watkins move on. I am feeling optimistic for the new season.
  6. We also need to find clubs willing to take Naismith, Wildshut, and Martin off our hands.
  7. Maddison will almost certainly be sold as we need the money to cover the loss of parachute payments. If Josh gets a chance to play at a higher level, and we get a good offer, it makes good business sense to let him go. I am not as worried as you Clint as I believe Webber has already acquired ready made replacements with Buendia and McLean.
  8. How many more seasons do we have to wait for him to come good? Personally I would sell now if we can get a reasonable fee. Yes he was second behind Maddison for goals and assists, but this could have been much better had he passed to a player in a better position, rather than always go for the spectacular goal . For those worried about decent attacking options we do have Hernandez, Buendia and Cantwell who can all play on the wing.
  9. I know there isn''t much football news regarding Norwich at the moment, but do we really care that Ipswich have appointed Paul Hurst as manager. Not only is there a large article on him in todays headlines, but they have also included a poll on whether he is a good appointment. Personally I prefer to read about Norwich City as opposed to a poorly supported team in Suffolk.
  10. I seem to remember he spent a lot of the game having a go at the youngsters/less experienced players. I would struggle to remember any game where he made a significant contribution. He is back in Scotland playing at a level which suits him so hopefully Hearts and Norwich can come up with a compromise.
  11. He wasn''t even on the bench today, so unless he was injured, I expect we will get him back.
  12. Watching his Stoke side reminds me of how good he was at motivating our players. Fingers crossed he can keep them up.
  13. His new appointment is head of recruitment, so presumably more responsibility and more pay. He could also be moving for family reasons.
  14. I would feel more optimistic if we could get Naismith, Martin, Olivera, Watkins and Wildschut off our wage bill; with the majority of that money being spent on attacking players. I also hope Farke plays a more attacking style next season, especially at home. How often have we seen every player in the box for corners and free kicks yet the opposition still score. Apart from players getting in each others way, we have no outlet and the ball comes straight back in again. When we do break out quickly there is never enough players in support. The more defensive approach away from home clearly works, and this has been reflected in the amount of away points we have gained.
  15. I have never been a fan of Naismith since day one and would struggle to name a Norwich game where he made a significant contribution. On that basis alone, I cannot see many clubs being prepared to pay his high wages for a player who basically talks a good game. It is clear that Hearts cannot get anywhere near to matching his current wages, and he probably doesn''t want to cancel his contract with the club because of what he will lose. Personally I think we have given this player enough money and if he genuinely wants to play for Hearts next season then his agent needs to come up with a deal that suits both him and Norwich City.
  16. He will not have increased his value after his performance at Sunderland last night. His agent will definitely earn his money if he can find a club willing to pay over 5m for him.
  17. Leicester will have mega money when they sell Mahrez this summer so they could easily afford to pay 15m for Murphy.
  18. Webber said at the outset it will take several transfer windows to bring in the right players to allow Farke time to build a team capable of competing for promotion. I agree that made sense, especially as Farke had never coached at this level before. Farke often says after the game that they were well aware of the threat posed by the opposition, and had talked about it during training. In particular he talks about preventing the ball coming into our box and winning second balls. Today was another example of not closing players down, allowing the ball to come into our box too easily, and not winning any second balls; not to mention the ball watching by most of our players. The style we play at the moment with plenty of passing and slow build up is predictable and makes it easy for the opposition. Farke cannot seem to make his mind up about playing 3 or 4 at the back. Our forwards don''t appear to have any confidence in front of goal. The head coach seems reluctant to make any early substitutions to try and change the game. With nothing to play for today he could have started with Raggett and Edwards, but he didn''t. Injuries to promising players like Trybul, Leitner, Hernandez and Stiepermann have not helped his cause. Patience is a virtue, but it is difficult to keep the faith when you cannot see much evidence of any real progress, or that the coach is not learning from his mistakes. This summer we will offload further players to lower the wage bill. Farke will have loan players returning and hopefully some new players. He will have had a season in the Championship, he will have his own squad and the ball will firmly be in his court. I would expect to see a real improvement on the performances this season.
  19. According to "laidback" Naismith he is finding it frustrating that Norwich City have left him in the dark over his future at Carrow Road as he is very keen to stay at Hearts. He needs to understand that sorting out his future is probably not top of Webber''s list of priorities; although it would be nice to get him off the wages bill. I personally have no sympathy for this player as we are probably still paying a considerable amount of his very good wages, but getting nothing in return.
  20. If this is Farke looking for a response from his players after the loss on Saturday then he needs to start worrying. This must be the easiest home game Barnsley have had all season. Hopefully we can perform better in the second half or it will be a second away defeat to a side struggling to stay up.
  21. Maddison, Leitner and Vrancic all have good vision and are capable of playing a quick ball to split packed defences, but unfortunately Murphy and Oliveira in particular, appear to just stand still most of the time. There were times on Sun when Maddison had three Ipswich players around him, but still couldn''t find a player to pass to in space. Farke has mentioned he will make some changes for Wolves as we have 3 games in 6 days. Assuming he believes Murphy and Oliveira are his best striking options, and will need them for Bolton at home, perhaps he could start with Srbeny and Hernandez on Wed.
  22. The reality for Ipswich is that the revenue they get from gates of 14,000, and the money they receive from selling their top players (?), means they are unlikely to have even 2m to spend next season. They would be better off letting the council have their ground back and share with Colchester.
  23. My biggest issue has always been the 10 men in the box. Leave 2 quick men up front and they would probably leave 3 back. Not only would this give us an outlet, but with less players in the box it has to be easier for defenders to mark players or pick up runners. It will be interesting to see if either Hernandez or Srbeny get a start on Wed against Wolves as they both look quite quick. I didn''t think Murphy and Oliveira offered a great deal today.
  24. I thought we played well today and deserved to get at least a point in a typical derby game, however, there are three issues that worry me about Farke and his tactics. Firstly, we still persist with passing the ball around at the back and were lucky not to be punished today. This is fine if the opposition don''t close you down, but Ipswich did. Secondly, we still have 10 men back in our box for most corners, including the one they scored from. Why can''t we at least leave one man up front. Thirdly, we left the substitutions until too late in the game for them to have any impact. I know our players still looked fresh, but I would have liked to have seen the introduction of Srbeny, Hernandez, and Vrancic with at least 15 mins left. I still think Farke is doing a good job but changing any of the three issues I have raised might just turn draws into wins.
  25. I would keep him in and hopefully he will have an outstanding game and score. My one fear is that Ipswich will wind him up and he gets sent off.
