1. I fully support a head coach giving players a chance, especially strikers who often go on a long run without scoring; but is it time to give Srbeny a chance? Oliveira has improved and seemed more interested in the last two matches, but personally I would like to see Srbeny given a start against Derby. He has trained with the squad, his confidence will be high after scoring well for his previous club, but more importantly, Derby will know very little about him.
2. That probably explains why certain players are on the bench just to make up the home grown numbers. We have enough non home grown players to put out a reasonable side such as: McGovern Pinto, Zimmermann, Klose, Stiepermann Trybul, Tettey Hernandez, Vrancic, Hoolahan Oliveira
3. I believe Wolves were looking to bring Afobe back on loan. As much as I would like to see Oliveira go I cannot see any club being interested based on his performances this season.
4. I would love to see all the new players start but I cannot see Farke doing this so my starting 11 would be: Gunn Hanley Zimmermann Klose Reed Tettey Lewis Murphy Maddison Hernandez Oliveira Subs: McGovern, Raggett, Trybul, Leitner, Hoolahan, Srbeny, Watkins
5. If you have a good defence then you have something to build on, and I believe Farke has achieved this. He knows we are not good enough offensively and that is still work in progress. Players like Maddison, Vrancic, Hoolahan and Leitner will always create good openings, but how often do we see our attacking players standing still. More movement by the front men and quicker passing will help to break down any defence.
6. I don''t think the new lad can do any worse. Yes Oliveira was more committed yesterday, but he should show that same commitment every game and for 90 minutes, he is after all fairly well paid. I personally would not lose any sleep if he was sold in this transfer window.
7. A massive turnover of players, new style of play, poor defending and lack of goals have all contributed to our current position. If the new players adapt to playing in the Championship in the way that Zimmermann, Trybull and Stiepermann have then yes I do feel we have a chance of promotion next season. In my opinion Farke is putting together a younger and much stronger squad of players who all appear to want to wear the Norwich shirt. Our recent cup performances against Arsenal and Chelsea have shown that with the right attitude and determination from the players we can compete with those clubs and should make any supporter feel optimistic.
8. I hear what you are saying Hercules but those players I mentioned have all been picked for their countries and a move to a higher profile club may enhance their chances of getting picked again; Oliveira (Portugal) and Klose (Switzerland) in particular have the world cup coming up. I am sure the agents for all three players will be working hard to get themselves a nice bonus before the window closes.
9. Webber has done really well to offload some of the higher earners, but is it possible Oliveira, Watkins and maybe Klose could leave in this window? I can now see this squad beginning to take shape to mount a challenge for promotion next season. If the recent signings from Germany do as well as Zimmermann, Trybull and Stiepermann have, plus if you add Godfrey, Thompson and a couple of U-23 plyers to the equation, it has to look promising.
10. Murphy can play central allowing Cantwell to play out wide. I just think a combination of Maddison, Murphy and Cantwell will cause defences problems.
11. I am not convinced that Oliveira wants to stay at Norwich, and Cantwell has been playing very well for the U-23. I know that many will argue he has no experience at Championship level but his energy, enthusiasm, and good finishing will in my opinion offer more than we are getting from Oliveira.
12. We paid a large transfer fee and high wages for him, with high expectations. In reality he had a good debut against Liverpool, but I would struggle to remember any other significant performances. I don''t feel sorry for him at all as he is getting very well paid by us and Hearts.
13. Agree with you Webbo, also every opposition manager knows that is how we play at home so they are not worried about playing two up front and allowing their defenders to push up. It is pointless Pinto or Lewis charging down the wing as they invariably have to stop and play the ball backwards as there is nobody in the box; even our lone striker Oliveira spends most of his time on the wing. I despair when Farke talks about bringing in replacements to improve the forward play, he might need to consider changing his style of play and get more players to push up into the opposition box.
14. I am not a football manager, but I cannot see the sense in bringing all our players back for an opposition corner. How many times have we seen us clear the ball only for it to come straight back in again. If we just left one quick player on the halfway line at least there would be an outlet.
15. Irrespective of whether he played well or not last night I think we are stuck with him, as I cannot see any club willing to pay a high fee for his services. If we don''t bring a striker in I would love Farke to give Cantwell. Abrahams or Fonkeu a run in the team. I saw more commitment from Cantwell in the short time he was on the pitch than Oliveira for the full 120 mins.
16. I am pleased that Farke has put out a very strong team against Chelsea. With exception of Tettey on bench and Trybul out through injury this is probably our strongest team. If Oliveira is hoping for a move this is his chance to show what he is capable of doing against Premiership opponents.
17. Most talented footballers will want to play at the highest level and I am sure Maddison falls into that category. At present he seems happy being a key player for Norwich and you cannot deny his commitment to the club. He will be in the shop window on Wed when he plays at Chelsea in the televised game, and his talents will be seen by millions of viewers. I would love him to stay and further improve as a player at Norwich, but if a big club comes in for him we should not hold him back.
18. His defence is looking strong, he has good options in midfield, but he needs to sign at least two good strikers, and then we might just have an outside chance of making the play offs.
19. You can add Ben Godfrey to the list of saleable assets after his recent televised game. I know Webber said we don''t have to sell our best players, but Delia and Michael will almost certainly have the final say. I believe it has cost them a lot of money in the past to pay off directors, managers, and players so where else are they going to get the money from unless they sell their best players.
20. Like many others I have had a season ticket for a long time and have had no hesitation in renewing in the past. There have been many highs and a few lows over the years, but generally I have been proud to be a season ticket holder and support my home club. This year I have found it difficult to motivate myself to do the 360 mile round trip for home games. I currently enjoy playing golf with good friends and yearly membership of my local golf club is equivalent to the cost of a season ticket plus travelling expenses; and for me that option seems more appealing.
21. Sky sports are now saying we are in discussion with him.
22. Oliveira looks like a player who knows his agent has a move already lined up for him. I would bring Jerome on as he at least wants to play for this club.
23. Top half of the Championship and looking good for the play offs.
24.
Yes, I can live with that. Sell them both and get two new strikers who are better suited to the way we now play. Get shot of Naismith, Watkins and Wildschut as well and I will be a happy bunny.
I agree completely although I cannot see anyone coming in for Watkins or Wildschut. Oliveira clearly think he is better than he actually is and Jerome just needs too many chances to score. I would not be upset if we gave the u-23 strikers a chance.
25. I think more experienced managers would have played Murphy, Maddison and Pritchard from the start to try and get a couple of early goals, then take them off after an hour. All three players had a good game against Birmingham plus Burton have conceded more goals at home than any other side in the league. The decision to rest them was IMO a poor one, as none of the replacements even threatened the Burton goal. Confidence is important in football and I think our head coach missed an opportunity to build on that confidence after a good away win. It is now putting more pressure on the players to do well at home against Millwall.
