1. Surely the fact that clubs are not exactly beating a path to our door to sign him should tell you something about what he adds to a side
2. Best post i''ve read on this board for a while. Totally agree with everything it. What this club desperately needs is some managerial stability and a sustained period of team rebuilding. This was never going to happen under Roeder due to his inabilty to see potential in anyone who hadn''t played for a premiership team or Gunn who was simply out of his depth. At last in Lambert we have someone with the necessary skills to dig us out of this mess IF he is given time. Unless major investment is forthcoming then I think it will take us 3 seasons to get out of this division. Lambert is doing exactly the right thing by getting rid of  the underachieving, high-wage earners and replacing them with younger, hungrier players. I just hope that people don''t get on his back if we are still hovering around mid-table come Christmas time.  Unfortunately their is no quick fix to the dire situation the board has got us into unless you have a spare £50m to invest
3. Whaley has been by far and away the biggest disappointment of the season.  He has made little or no impact on any of the games I have seen this season.  As for whether he has genuine pace or not, I couldn''t say because I have yet to see him even try to take a defender on- a skill which I would have thought is essential for an out and out winger. As for Lambert''s comments, I personally don''t have a problem with them and think he is spot on. You don''t need world beaters at this level and a committed team will go a long way against the quality of opposition in this league. Where we really lack pace is up front. Teams know that we don''t have the strikers to get in behind them so as a result can push their defensive line further up the pitch. This was most evident aganst Walsall who simply gave our skillful (but lightweight) players no time and space on the ball. That''s why I would always play Cody up front, especially away from home, because although his first touch isn''t up to much he does have the pace to worry defenders
4. I struggle to see us getting anything tonight 2-1 MK Dons with Hughes scoring our goal
5. Spot on with your report. Just as against Brentford we got sucked in to the long ball game and made it too easy for their (excellent) centre halfs. 100% agree with your views regarding Nelson. He doesn''t impress me at all. Also thought Holt was poor today. Yes he was tightly marked but his control let him down on numerous occasions and why he didn''t put his foot through the ball when he had his second half chance i don''t know Overall, not a game that will linger long in the memory
6. I tend to agree with those who say you can''t drop a player who has contributed to 3 clean sheets in a row. However I too thought that Nelson was dreadful today. He looked slow and was far from comanding in the air. To me he did nothing that Doherty would be unable to do. Yes he is more of a threat in the opposition box but this is balanced out by his woeful inability on the ball. Neither are any great shakes but if i had to choose i would pick the Doc every time
7. Will be more difficult than many people seem to think especially given our tendency to balls things up. Having said that I think we''ll sneak home 1-0 and I fancy McVeigh to score
8.
A bit OT but make sure you see ''Looking for Eric'' it really is a fantastic film.
Agree with this. Watched it on the plane back from Japan. Brilliant movie
9. I try not to post rubbish rumours on here. So I''m pleased my reputation is still intact :)
10. Never thought I would do this but I have been told by what i consider to be someone reliable that Doherty has been dropped and won''t travel tomorrow Nelson is expected to start and David Stephens is to be included on the bench I guess this is going to please an awful lot of people
11. I  have to say that watching the game live last night i was as peeed off with the Doc as most people on here appear to be but having sat and watched the replay on sky I''ve kind of changed my mind. Yes he messed uo for the first goal but apart from one truely dreadful pass he didn''t really do an awful lot else wrong. He was certainly no worse than the other members of our so called defence
12. Tudur Jones reminds me a lot of Dickson Etuhu i.e soemone with all the attributes to be a really effective player but lacks the drive and desire to make the kind of impact he should
13. Some people really need to lighten up. I don''t think i''ve ever enjoyed a 4-1 defeat more. On the whole it was a good, attractive game of football and i think we more than held our own against a good quality premiership side. With a little better finishing and a lot better defending it could have been interesting And the standing ovation for Cody was just superb
14. Never fear, our time will come again Personally I had a great time at tonights game, especially the last 10 minutes. And i think there were lots of positives to take from tonight. Finally there are signs that we might just be moving in the right direction
15. Eventually yes (if and when we drag ourselves back to the top end of the Championship) but at the moment it would be completely unnecessary
16. Difficult one to answer. On paper he is the most talented guy in the squad and a great option to have. The flip side is that it is difficult to know where to play him and he is VERY lightweight in this division. Personally i would like to keep him but I''m 99% certain that he wants out and that Lambert would be prepared to sell I would be very surprised if he is still with us in September
17. And kids these days eh... Schools too good for them, send them back down the mines i say
18. 943- After leading Norwich to two successive promotions he is poached by Celtic to help regain the SPL from Rangers
19. It does make me chuckle as to how short some peoples memories are on here. I seem to remember Russell being slagged off left, right and centre at the end of last season. Now suddenly, because we are struggling, he is the answer to all our problems. No I wouldn''t bring him back because we have better options in the middle. And as for Jamie, well he should have been shipped out in the summer. I just don''t think he can cut it any more (Cue 2-1 City on Saturday with Russell and Cureton as goalscorers)
20. Personally i''m hoping that if i drink enough I might be able to wipe the previous two weeks form my memory and pretend that the season is about to start on Saturday
21. Pretty much agree with everything you have said, especially the bit about the wingers. We have no width at all and are crying out for an out and out winger who can actually cross the ball. Hoolahan and (the massively disappointing) Whaley are too fond of coming inside all the time and as our full backs are next to useless as an attacking threat. Therefore it is far too easy for sides to shut us down
22. Nice to talk about something other than Gunny The Gowser certainly has the talent but he''s too lightweight and prone to being pushed off the ball. He also suffers from the problem of not really fitting into any position. Not big enough to be a striker, not fast enough to be a winger and not defensive minded enough to play midfield. Sort out a position where he''s comfortable and you have a pretty decent player IMO
23. Sitting here in amazement at what is going on at Carrow Road , but my bet (if its not too late) is Man Utd to beat Birmingham
24. Robins would be great but the timing of this whole thing is just insane
25. I''m amazed by this. They must have somebody else lined up surely
