  1. I personally wouldn''t particularly want to watch a game from a corporate hospitality box. I don''t know about you GJP but I think I''d much prefer to watch from a normal seat and feel klose to the action.
  2. In fact they, Newcastle, have 4 games between the end of our early KO game with Sunderland and the 5:30pm KO of our next game with Arsenal. After the Sunderland game, we''ll have played 2 games more yet at 5pm on sat. 30th we''ll have played 2 less. Albeit 2 of those games are played later / earlier on the same days, 16th and 30th. Sunderland will also have played another 2 games before we ko against Arsenal.
  3. I know I am probably just being overly neurotic and nervous about these things, but surely there are other games a Newcastle fan and former youth acadamy player could have been given.
  4. Lappinitup - You forgot to mention amongst all the details, whether you will be announcing the starting 11 a day earlier, like last week, or will it be announced at the more conventional time around 2pm on the day?
  5. It''s too early to be writing off so many. Let''s at least see how they fare in the first half of the championship campaign next season ( for those that stay) smile
  6. Man City home - 1 WBA away - 3 Newcastle home - 1 Crystal Palace away - 3 Sunderland home - 1 Watford home - 3 Arsenal away - 0 ManUtd home - 3 * Everton away - 3 * That''s a whopping 18 points, 6* of which are based on the empirically proven "universal laws of cause and effect, Kharma, opposition already on the beach" effect. Anyone remember in 2005, how many points did we pick up from this point onwards? I know it all ended calamitously in the final game. another crumb of comfort from 2 years back -We beat Sunderland in March and they looked no hopers for survival. Hope Brady isn''t out for too long. **terms and conditions apply. Under no circumstances if I am proven to be incorrect will I come on here and admit I got it wrong. But if by any chance we do stay up and I get some of the predictions right, then I will Certainly come back with a "I told you so" post at the end of season.
  7. I will assume Brady is one of those laid low by the bug
  8. City Angel, you have missed a 3rd keeper, which I would imagine will sill be Jake Kean, whether he remains out on loan or not. If there are no further incomings / outgoings, the final spot could be taken by either Lafferty or Andreu, However, there does seem to still be some room for manoeuvre tomorrow in terms of a coming and going or 2
  9. I mean, I wonder if Andreu is being considered for a place in the squad after Jan. or is he likely to be going elsewhere?
  10. I wonder what''s next for Andreu. We rejected Rotherham''s request to extend his loan after impressive displays recently. However, he hasn''t featured in any of the 3 squads in the 2 weeks he''s been back. Could he still come into the 25 for the 2nd half of the season, or will he go elsewhere?
  11. Would they want to loan him out to a relegation rival, though? They are still only 2 points ahead of us.
  12. Clearly Paul has been thumbing through his old address books. B .... "Ah Elliot Bennett let''s give Benno a call" ... J "ah ...Simeon Jackson I wonder what he''s up to these days?" ... M Cody Mac - number unobtainable ... W ... Elliot Ward
  13. "here''s an idea........how about actually SIGNING him tomorrow so he can play for us on Wednesday........or is that an all too outlandish suggestion? " LOL So he doesn''t want to move to Norfolk because his wife is pregnant, so he''s going to sign for Swansea, staying at our hotel in Stoke to watch our game on Wednesday ... It''s all falling into place ... He''ll sign for Stoke! (.. and Johnny Walters will hastily pack a few bags and come back on the coach with us Wednesday night on loan. )
  14. Jake kean, as things stand, is out on loan for just 28 days, while the window is open. This has no effect on spaces in the 25 because basically while the window is open anyone can play, including Andreu. Of course, if Kean remained out on loan after the window closes we''d either still have him in the 25 with a call back clause , or would have bought in another gk in the squad. So purple''s point is right, it has no bearing at the moment on the 25 man squad. The number of Places in the squad is really dependent on who from the first 25 man squad (well 24 in our case)we know won''t be here after the window. At the moment that is just EB. In kean''s case unless someone has inside knowledge, we don''t know.
  15. The rumour I heard was that it was Russ back hehe. Chinese whispers and it becomes Rudd.
  16. Rudd Whittaker Wisdom Bennett Olsson Redmond Odjidge-Ofoe Mulumbu O''Neil Brady Grabban Subs: Ruddy, Hoolahan, Martin, Lafferty, Jerome (Mbokani), Dorrans, Jarvis Possibly Jarvis / Brady swap. Mbokani on the bench if he''s over his bug. Mulumbu in a more defensive role in front of back 4 for his 1st game back. Think there''s some pace in that line-up, protection for defence.
  17. Voo has played the entirety of the 3 games he''s been available for Rotherham. Yesterday being his first home game. Making quite an impression. It''s going to be interesting to see what happens from October onwards, when this initial loan has ended. Positive comments about Andreu too. http://boards.footymad.net/rotherhamunited-mad/2109793261/
  18. Re my previous post. Seems like I have forgotten everything I learnt at school about paragraphs. Sorry to anyone who had the patience to trawl through it. Starc was having a shy at the stumps, not the batsman. In fact, if Stokes had been run out, it would have been deemed a great piece of instinctive fielding. Agree with everything The Ghost has just written. The best thing for England to do is move on. Think the appeal from Starc was fair enough.
  19. The more I have analysed the incident, the more, reluctantly as an England fan, I have to admit that although Stokes could have been given the benefit of doubt, the correct decision was probably made. Starc gets a perfect bounce as he collects the stokes drive; the momentum of Stokes''s follow through takes him quite a bit out of his crease. Starc instinctively seizes the opportunity to shy at the stumps, not deliberately at the batsman. If Stokes was thinking of purely taking evasive action from the ball thrown from 15 yards, he would have moved all of his body toward his (left hander''s) off-side (slightly away from the stumps) leaving his stumps exposed. Instead, His left hand moves toward the path of the ball, and to me it looks as if he could have even caught the ball, but he lets it out of his grasp to make it seem unintentional. Batsmen know they only have one chance and hate the disappointment of getting out. Even in split second decisions to take evasive action, they can also make more deliberate decisions (a survival instinct to avoid being out). This can happen in real-life as well as on the cricket field. What I think could have been an even more controversial incident would have been if Stokes had taken purely evasive action, and the ball had hit the stumps and he was run out. I wanted them to show ball tracking for the path of the throw (hahaha). I think it was just going over off stump. I think ex-umpire David Lloyd''s comments about looking at it in real-time were a bit of a red herring. I think even at normal speed the Stokes''s left hand moves in a direction that arouses suspicion; hence the appeal from Starc. The 3rd ump took the movement of Stokes''s left hand to indicate willful intent. Probably fair enough.
  20. Hey Harrington, if you feel so strongly about this, why don''t you at least, try to follow your own advice first. Yesterday, you started yet another Walters thread ( under the disguise of the title "I really hope ...") just to make the comment that you wouldn''t mind signing him, even though you had made the very same comment in at least one of the other existing threads. Like ctid, I am also a bit envious of the ibarbo signing, amongst one or two others made by other clubs similar to us.
  21. http://www.skyscanner.co.in/news/top-10-pubs-watch-football-season google "bars showing EPL football in Delhi" should come up with a host of places for her to choose from depending on her location in Delhi. Alternatively, how about suggesting to her to ring around some of the hotels beforehand, especially places like Hyatt, to see if they''ll be screening the football in their bars. The match timing (6pm ish) probably coincides with "happy hour" in many hotels. I''ve been to Delhi, but it was over 15 years ago, and although during the football season, I just can''t remember what coverage there was then in bars. I am pretty certain she''ll see plenty of places showing football in the days leading up to the game - she should be able to catch the game somewhere, especially as it is the only PL game on at that time slot.
  22. Well I for one am grateful to the OP for drawing attention to the excellent piece by Mark Halsey, which may have been ''lost'' within an existing thread. I probably wouldn''t have returned to the Simon Hooper thread having read it a couple of times already. It''s a football fans'' forum, and I think the OP is entitled to his little rant too. In fact, I love the bit "...I had to think of wembley ..." lol - exactly what I did and probably 1000s of others to ease Saturday''s frustrations. And as a more general comment, more power to the people who start so called ''duplicate'' threads. What is the big deal? My only gripe about this forum is having to read the banal comments like the two in response to the OP.
  23. Redmond doesn''t count to the 25 man senior squad. He had his 21st on the 6th March. I know this not because I had an invite to his party, but because I just googled for the info. So on the 1st Jan this year (the date that age criteria is determined), he was still only 20. Always handy to have any under-21s as almost nailed on starters for a lot of games, as it frees up space in the 25, if a team wants to fill the whole quota. Liverpool might be feeling like that too, of course! I know I am a bit sentimental, but I do hope, on the assumption that RVW, Lafferty, and Turner won''t be in the 25, and the likes of Thompson, Murphys etc still under-age, there is still plenty of room for the likes of O''Neil. Andreu, and EB. We have room for 6 or 7 signings, without losing the identity of the team that achieved promotion. There''s always someone, though, that we are sad to see go, and we''ve had to get used to that over the last 5 years, with so many promotions. It always seems a little unfair that no sooner a team enjoys the euphoria of getting promoted, quite a few players end up going back to where they have just come from. Sure, not too much sympathy as they get well remunerated these days through their contracts, but on a professional level, you feel like they deserve a chance in the PL. Just a bit of tinkering to the squad is what I am hoping for - very much on the lines of the OP, with maybe an addition in CM / Tettey role
  24. Anyway, how about midfielder Louis Thompson? Has anyone seen him play or did anyone see his 30 minute appearance last Sunday after injury? only 20 at the beginning of the year, so no concerns as to taking a place in the 25 man squad. Interesting and very positive comments from Swindon fans worth a read on the first page of a current thread. Totally uninformed, but would guess he''s most likely to spend time on loan in the champs next season. When he was originally signed, the first question that leaped into my head, was, along with MaGrandles, how would things unfold longer term if we went straight back up. http://thetownend.com/index.php?topic=55823.0
