1.

40 odd minutes on the tube is a bit of a sh*tter, especially straight after the city to Liverpool Street journey, but hey! We love our club [Y]
But there is no tube station around Palace its tube to London bridge and over ground to Norwood Junction Like you say thats after changes at Ely and Cambridge Seriously thinking about driving....o bviously down side is no beer !
Taxi by Uber from Liverpool Street to Palace - 18 minutes and twenty quid - sorted [Y]
 2. I dwell on the bogey sides like Fulham and Palace, we''ve never had much joy in the capital and a point garnered would suffice nicely thanks. One day/game at a time sweet Jesus...

 4.

Paul Merson saw the handball in real time and mentioned it straight away after the goal. Is he an owl?
He was watching a replay.
[:D] [Y]
 5.
Julian, a Kestrel would be best placed to have seen it due to it''s capacity for hovering...you would have to have relied upon a diurnal owl to see it at that time of day (rather than a nocturnal or crepuscular species) and even then it would have had a fleeting glance, while the Peregrine would probably have been sitting on the Cathedral tower at the time as they are currently incubating their eggs. Apples
[:D] [Y]
 6.
Their other home game is against Chelsea which is another tough one. I''m beginning to think that 36 points would be enough for us provided we beat Sunderland when amassing those 5 points.
I think 38pts will guarantee survival and we will get that.
 7.
Julian - I had seen and heard rumblings about doubting Naismith (which I completely disagree with btw) and his effort, and I felt those pictures would help to refute those doubters.
Fair play [Y]
 8.

Difficult to say, I''ve seen it from several angles now and each one I think the opposite each time I look at it.I will consider us lucky that ref didn''t give it regardless of right or wrong but frankly a bit of luck that is long overdue for us!
A referee''s decisions, good or bad, have nothing to do with luck. Luck, or to be lucky, is when a sudden gust of wind takes the ball into the net when it would have other wise gone wide of the post.
I think we were lucky that the ref did not see the handball for whatever reason, if the goal was against us I think many would be lamenting our bad luck.
The only element of luck here is that the officials weren''t peregrine falcons. Now let that be the end of it.
 9.
Hang on a minute, you just said that it was obvious in your previous post?
I said it was obvious in the replay. Only a member of the owl family would''ve seen the handball immediately.
 10.
Howson''s handball was pretty obvious to me. Do I care? Well we dominated the match and deserved the win, so not at all.
No, really it wasn''t. What are you, a f*cking kestrel?
 11.
Howson hasn''t been great when played out wide - in the same way most players wouldn''t be at their best in a position that doesn''t suit them. But that''s on the manager, not on him. Played centrally there should be no doubt that he''s well worth his place.
How many times has Howson been fielded wide this season?
 12.
If Howson''s hand ball had been so obvious I would have expected to see a lot more protests from the Newcastle players, particularly as we went on to score, but there wasn''t any really.
I haven''t read all through the thread, but I don''t think anybody has said the handball was obvious. That''s because it wasn''t obvious until the replay. Which the officials and players alike don''t have immediate access to.
 13.
Looking through the images, one thing that really stuck out for me, was Naismith''s reaction at the goals/final whistle. He cares, 100%
Good Lordy, why wouldn''t Naismith care? I don''t he and the rest of the team have anything to gain via relegation [:P]
 14.
Howson has improved greatly in the last few matches. His defensive play was always a weakness and it now seems to be improving, he is now seeing the threats and beginning to deal with them. Perhaps that''s the benefit of O''Neil''s experience rubbing off on to him. His recent form has been good.
So you agree Howson''s form was middling for most of the season. There you go, Ian.

 16.
when played centrally.
Hammer, nail hit firmly on the head. He is a central midfielder after all.
 17.
From the angle facing the goal it looks like Howson''s was a definite hand ball - however, look at it from the reverse angle and it appears to hit stomach and then knee. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDLh0-8l7Y8
No, it was definitely handball. Just pleased the ref''s decision went with us for a change.
 18.
At the risk of being a bit obsessive about penalties, I will point out we have not had one in 45 Premier league matches (Hooper vWest Ham) or 105 away Premier League games. Ipswich 1994.
That''s an incredible statistic actually.
 19.

Both Mbokani & Olsson deserve to make team of the week, but it really was a great team effort against the toon. Even Howson put in a good performance.
Howson has been outstanding for the last few weeks - playing in the centre really suits his style of play
Well, I wouldn''t say outstanding, but he''s definitely improved over the last few games and by God he needed to. I, like many other fans, had been getting extremely frustrated with AN''s insistence on Howsons inclusion in the team for the majority of the season. Really pleased he''s come good.
 20.
This is well worth a look.http://www.focus-images.co.uk/#!/index/G0000HSPw1D7Apuw/I00008SqOTYhPGno
Good link, thanks. It looked as though it would''ve gone in off the post, so great save.

 22. That was the best game I haven''t been to all season.
