A player who sticks in my memory for some reason - must have done well against us in the late sixties and early seventies.......
Indeed a true legend of ours. For me, however, Chris Chilton was always to of the pile. :-)
Strange I remember one but the other name is totally unknown to me.....well, I was only aound ten years old at the time.....Good luck next season btw, with or without Brady......preferably without. ;-)
There were four of them, as I remember. Hull got a new owner who was, by the standards of those days, very rich. Possibly a Needler? He made available to cash to buy three players for £40,000 each - Wagstaff, who was a striker, a midfielder called Ken Houghton (no, that isn''t a misspelling...) and a rangy left-winger whose name escapes me for the moment. With the aim of getting to the First Division for the first time. And Chilton, arguably the best of the lot, came out of the youth team to play centre-forward. But it didn''t work.
Ian Butler was the other.

 4.
You really are a bit of a plank, MancTiger, if you think a meeting about budgets for the forthcoming year will not have the ''slightest effect'' on the situation, if as you say the biggest earners at the club haven''t moved on as promised. A firm offer of £x million for a player could become rather important. The idea that Hull - a relegated side with a player who has just a year left on his contract and apparently wants out - hold all the aces is just daft. Most of our supporters couldn''t give a stuff either way about Brady, but you don''t want to overplay things.
Well plank or not I was the one who told you two weeks ago that the fee stated was the fee that would have to be paid, whilst numerous non-planks on this message board stated that the deal was done, as witnessed by the title of this thread. If you want to put greater value on statements about HCAFC from those who have no knowledge of the club or how it works, then feel free. I am a Hull City fan of many years it doesn''t bother me in the slightest if a Norwich fan believes what I say.
 5.
So if Bruce is responsible for everything, and the three highest wage earners haven''t shifted on, and Bruce hasn''t got much of a budget, where does that leave Bruce.............?
It leaves Steve Bruce due to talk with owner when he return from his family holiday on Thursday about what his budget is when N''Doye, Hernandez and Jelavic are still on the books. Judging from his comments this week SB hopes Jelavic will decide to stay, which would be fantastic news for us.
 6.
How did I hear about it then? I wasn''t at the local media meeting, and do not know anyone who is................
Steve Bruce did a radio interview with David Burns of BBC Radio Humberside at the North Ferriby United friendly. During that interview he stated that if the owners didn''t match his ambition to get the club back to the Premier League at the first attempt, then he would have to consider his position. That is the only time he has said that and every other report of that fact is a re-quote of what he said on radio Humberside.
 7.

There will be news on Brady tomorrow, or maybe early Friday. Hull are having their financial board meeting, and I expect Mr Potato head will be told to wind his fat neck in, and take the money on offer.
I doubt we are dealing with Bruce or that he will have any say in what price Hull finally accept for Brady .
Steve Bruce manages the Football Operations of HCAFC root and branch, there is no Director of Football and the only person he reports to is the owner..........and they both have use of mobile phones!!
 8.
There will be news on Brady tomorrow, or maybe early Friday. Hull are having their financial board meeting, and I expect Mr Potato head will be told to wind his fat neck in, and take the money on offer.
I''m sorry, but you haven''t a clue what you are talking about. As I said at the beginning of this saga, the owners neither desire nor need to sell Brady and Bruce will most certainly not let him go unless the fee stated is met. The situation the meeting is to discuss relates to the fact the 3 top earners have not moved on as they had stated a desire to do. In view of that the owners will discuss with Bruce what his budget will be, his comments in the local media (not the World as somebody laughingly claimed) was merely posturing prior to that meeting. Nothing coming out of that meeting will have the slightest effect on your situation regarding Robbie Brady. Despite all the rumour and ITK guff, the situation will remain unchanged: we want him to stay , if you want him you will have to meet our valuation. Please sign Alonso and let this go.
 9.

I think Hull want £7m? (at least thats what most reports say) so I doubt they''ll accept anything less.
A silly price.Walk away.
Actually it''s £9m, but I agree you should walk away!
 10.
I agree, said earlier in the thread to just pay the asking price if he''s that much of a target for us. To me it still appears that we are trying to offload players as part of a deal, wasn''t Laffs also mentioned early as part of a deal? It''s starting to look a tad embarrassing, but it''s not Norwich taking this to the press but Bruce.
How do you know who''s taking it to the press?
 11.
Someone said its 3 million, with an additional 1 million if we stay up and E Bennett. Not sure if true but pretty sure it will be undisclosed if we do eventually get Brady.
That''s rubbish. If Bruce states £3m is "embarrassing" wonder what he''d say about £3m plus add-ons??? Bet it ends in ....Off!! :-)
 12. Some reports coming out you''ve offered £6m and have been knocked back again.
 13. Apparently another bid has gone in, this time it''s £3, 250,000 and a crate of Adnan''s Southwold Bitter!!! :-)
 14.
If I was Steve Bruce, I''d be more concerned as to why the powers that be above his head at Hull allowed one of what will likely be one one the Championship''s key players in Tom Ince to move to a direct promotion rival?
That''s easy to answer. When we loaned Tom Ince to Derby last season, we didn''t think we would be relegated. Ince was not considered to be good enough for the Prem so in order to make the loan attractive for Derby we put in a £5.75m buy out clause and it was that that Derby chose to pick up. Personally I''m not disappointed to see Ince go, he''s a bit of a mercenary and not in the same league as Brady and that''s the honest truth. Bruce is upset now because we are in the Championship and that is Ince''s level.
 15.
A good player, but still too much of a rough diamond to be worth anywhere near £7m. If anyone thinks Norwich should pay that kind of fee then they need their head tested. We shouldn''t be looking to pay a penny more than £3m, so McNally ought to walk away after a bid of that figure has been rejected.£3m is about right in the current market for someone who hasn''t really lived up to expectations.
I don''t think you fully appreciate how the market has moved on. You do know there is a MASSIVE TV deal coming in next year. Not sure how you come to the conclusion Robbie Brady hasn''t lived upto expectations. I''m willing to bet you''ve never seen him play more than a couple of times and I''m not sure whose expectations you are talking about. If you mean United''s expectations then you are right, but then neither Norwich City nor Hull City are swimming in that pond! As I''ve said if you, and more importantly your club''s management, think Brady is not worth more than £3m then I for one will be delighted because we won''t even talk things over with him until you start getting close to the quoted £9m. That price is there because we don''t want to sell him, not because we think we can get that much.
 16. You''re half right there. Snoddy was a loss, but not as big a loss as Diame, Chester and Jelavic. We were missing the core of our side for much of last season. As for players leaving when relegated, well the truth is some do and some don''t. It will depend on how much he thinks you want him, which by what you are offering is not very much, and how confident he is we will get back to the top flight. But as I said before, as Nigel Pearson found to his cost, our owners are prepared under the correct circumstances, to be very stubborn in order to make a point. (Pssssssssssssssst!!! I probably shouldn''t say this, but Robbie isn''t even the best Left Wing back at the Club........but don''t tell anyone!!)
 17.

he is desperate to get back there, I promise you he will be loathed to leave HCFC.
There you have it....."he is desperate to get back there".....which he can do NOW.Once Snoddy has a word in his ear, expect a transfer request. [;)] [:D]
Was that the same Snoddy that jumped ship from you in an attempt to stay in the Premier League, and then ended up back in the Championship???? Yes, I''m sure he''ll listen to his counsel !!!
 18. Afternoon Gents, Just thought I''d pop in with a view from the other side of the fence regarding Robbie Brady. I think the place to start is with the lad himself. His junior career at United was as a winger. We had him for for two loan spells for a season and a half before buying him for a report £2.75m, by which time he had developed into a very good player and had proven that not only was he good going forward but he was also more than capable as a wing-back. It''s important to remember the lad grew up with us and with a raft of other Irish and United youngsters that we took on board. Lets make no mistake, he is a very good player; he is a full international with over 13 caps and was probably our best player in the second half of last season. I''m sure, like all our players, he was gutted to be relegated last season, and whilst I am certain he, like the rest of the squad, he is desperate to get back there, I promise you he will be loathed to leave HCFC. As for his price, well that is like saying how long is a piece of string. But the bottom line is wedon''t want to lose him and we most certainly do not need to sell him for financial reasons. With that in mind a price of £9m might on the face of it seem ridiculous, but when you understand the background it makes perfect sense; we simply do not want to sell. That being said every player has his price and if, as with Mings at Bournemouth, somebody offers daft money then we would have to look at it seriously. But it would be done with the consultation of the player and what he wants to do. You valuations, which started at less than what we paid for him are absurd, and if you were in our shoes you would surely think the same. The player has developed under us and the market has also moved on, as proven by Derby buying a player from us, who couldn''t hack it in the Premier League, for £5.75m. As there are talks ongoing with him about a new contract, we all hope something can be sorted out and he resigns, but you never know in football. But one thing is for certain, Steve Bruce has the full support of the owners and they let him get on with running the club root and branch, so what he says in direct quotes is what will be. Best of luck to you in the Premier League, you''re going to need it!! That''s no disrespect to you, it''s the same situation for any newly promoted Club. The deck is well and truly stacked against you, Watford and Bournemouth. CTID
