He made available to cash to buy three players for £40,000 each - Wagstaff, who was a striker, a midfielder called Ken Houghton (no, that isn''t a misspelling...) and a rangy left-winger whose name escapes me for the moment. With the aim of getting to the First Division for the first time. And Chilton, arguably the best of the lot, came out of the youth team to play centre-forward. As I said at the beginning of this saga, the owners neither desire nor need to sell Brady and Bruce will most certainly not let him go unless the fee stated is met. The situation the meeting is to discuss relates to the fact the 3 top earners have not moved on as they had stated a desire to do. In view of that the owners will discuss with Bruce what his budget will be, his comments in the local media (not the World as somebody laughingly claimed) was merely posturing prior to that meeting. Nothing coming out of that meeting will have the slightest effect on your situation regarding Robbie Brady. Despite all the rumour and ITK guff, the situation will remain unchanged: we want him to stay , if you want him you will have to meet our valuation. Please sign Alonso and let this go.

You do know there is a MASSIVE TV deal coming in next year. Not sure how you come to the conclusion Robbie Brady hasn''t lived upto expectations. If you mean United''s expectations then you are right, but then neither Norwich City nor Hull City are swimming in that pond! As I''ve said if you, and more importantly your club''s management, think Brady is not worth more than £3m then I for one will be delighted because we won''t even talk things over with him until you start getting close to the quoted £9m. That price is there because we don''t want to sell him, not because we think we can get that much.

You''re half right there. Snoddy was a loss, but not as big a loss as Diame, Chester and Jelavic. We were missing the core of our side for much of last season. As for players leaving when relegated, well the truth is some do and some don''t. It will depend on how much he thinks you want him, which by what you are offering is not very much, and how confident he is we will get back to the top flight. But as I said before, as Nigel Pearson found to his cost, our owners are prepared under the correct circumstances, to be very stubborn in order to make a point. (Pssssssssssssssst!!! I probably shouldn''t say this, but Robbie isn''t even the best Left Wing back at the Club........but don''t tell anyone!!)

Afternoon Gents, Just thought I''d pop in with a view from the other side of the fence regarding Robbie Brady. I think the place to start is with the lad himself. His junior career at United was as a winger. We had him for for two loan spells for a season and a half before buying him for a report £2.75m, by which time he had developed into a very good player and had proven that not only was he good going forward but he was also more than capable as a wing-back. It''s important to remember the lad grew up with us and with a raft of other Irish and United youngsters that we took on board. Lets make no mistake, he is a very good player; he is a full international with over 13 caps and was probably our best player in the second half of last season. I''m sure, like all our players, he was gutted to be relegated last season, and whilst I am certain he, like the rest of the squad, he is desperate to get back there, I promise you he will be loathed to leave HCFC. As for his price, well that is like saying how long is a piece of string. But the bottom line is wedon''t want to lose him and we most certainly do not need to sell him for financial reasons. With that in mind a price of £9m might on the face of it seem ridiculous, but when you understand the background it makes perfect sense; we simply do not want to sell. That being said every player has his price and if, as with Mings at Bournemouth, somebody offers daft money then we would have to look at it seriously. But it would be done with the consultation of the player and what he wants to do. You valuations, which started at less than what we paid for him are absurd, and if you were in our shoes you would surely think the same. The player has developed under us and the market has also moved on, as proven by Derby buying a player from us, who couldn''t hack it in the Premier League, for £5.75m. As there are talks ongoing with him about a new contract, we all hope something can be sorted out and he resigns, but you never know in football. But one thing is for certain, Steve Bruce has the full support of the owners and they let him get on with running the club root and branch, so what he says in direct quotes is what will be. Best of luck to you in the Premier League, you''re going to need it!! That''s no disrespect to you, it''s the same situation for any newly promoted Club.
