  1. Stoke have already signed 2/3 CB in the past 12-18 months so that would be a tough sell for him. Villa would be tougher competition as their wages would be higher and it is closer to his current home but that doesn''t mean it is impossible. It is up to McNally and Neil to sell the place if they want him.
  2. BBC gossip today, I have heard the rumours before from a classic mate of a mate scenario so absolutely no idea on validity but just thought it sounded a good fit if true.
  3. I''m not sure if he has been mentioned here before but apparently WBA are looking to move on Lescott. He has plenty of experience and is relatively mobile, I think he would be a good option who wouldn''t cost the earth although his wages may be a touch prohibitive. He also knows Dorrans and Mulumbu so we would have some good salesmen for him...
  4. Inspired by nothing other than a browse of BBC transfer gossip I came across Davide Santon who (apparently) is interesting Watford. What do people feel about this as a signing for us? He offers versatility having played at both LB and RB, is a good passer although not the quickest and has good experience both in the PL and abroad for someone relatively young. I don''t imagine he would cost a fortune, potentially may even be a loan to buy situation.
  5. Given the type of players he wants us to sign (largely past their prime, high wages) and the games he picks as top class (0-0 to Walsall) I''m beginning to wonder if he isn''t a troll, he might actually be Glenn Roeder...
  6. I think Ryan Bennett has all the capabilities to be a top class cb but he has had such disrupted play I would like him to be loaned out for 6 months. That gives us (hopefully) time to properly assess his performances at the top of the championship. I think that turner will not play for us again and whilst I would love us to go for Dawson / kaboul I don''t know if we have the wage structure in place. I''m not saying that Shackell is the perfect solution but he may be a good one.
  7. I obviously didn''t see him play last year but Burnley fans I know said he was a good leader. I''m not saying he is the solution but I think he would be an excellent squad player with playing experience in the top division, good leadership qualities and history to the club Who shouldn''t cost a fortune. Thoughts?
  8. Webbo, I''m not saying that we mustn''t spend on a full back but I don''t think that it is an area we need to upgrade. Assuming we have circa 20m to spend then 6-8m on a left back is not, imho a good use of that. I would rather we spent the money bringing in a first choice cb and trusted toffollo as our reserve choice lb. I would rather we spent 12m and tried to get Pritchard and kaboul from Spurs. Not sure they would be keen to sell Pritchard but would rather we took a punt there.
  9. A lovely idea but not where I think we need to prioritise our spending. He played plenty of games as part of the squad last year and Swansea would probably be first in line for a return if he wanted out. Added to that Man City have been linked with Rose so they are unlikely to sell him early in the window. I don''t think, therefore, that he would fit what we need right now, although he is a classy player.
