So he got driven to Liverpool in a nice big coach, taken home again, became a Dad and then got a flight to Liverpool, at the clubs expense or do you think because he is such a top bloke he coughed up himself? It''s not a tough life being an extremely well paid footballer, so why so much credit ? He loves the club, he claps the fans, what do you expect your captain to do? Not sure I have heard too many players slagging of their own club. The issue is he is not good enough at centre back, the fact you started this post shows there is an issue with him. The odd goal does not mean we can keep allowing below par performances at the back. No one here hates the bloke they just want a better replacement, and yes there are a number of players who are not really stepping up to the mark, Redmond for one. Ray pls enlighten us all to your inside knowledge, RM turned down prem clubs, name them, they didnt follow up for a reason and if you think he stayed because he loves Norwich you are deluded, maybe he did not want to be a bench warmer in the prem, which is what he should be at best. Martin or as I like to call him '' The parallel Man '' is more often than not found wanting, he is easily beaten by decent strikers and wingers to boot, he very rarely puts a tackle in and I sit in a position that I get to see close up, strikers from the past will always comment on the great defenders during their time and they will say '' he always put a tackle in early on to tell you he is there '' why is it Martin NEVER does this, why did he get an ironic cheer from fans around me against Arsenal when he slid on the ground to kick a ball out for a throw in? I will tell, BECAUSE HE GOT HIS KNEES DIRTY, not bad considering it was the LAST game of the season. He gets beaten and instead of tracking back he points randomly at something or someone, Whittaker gave him a gob full against Shef Wed because once again he was out of position and he had the gall to point at Whits and complain. He speaks to the ref in a half hearted manner 5 minutes after the event, and in my opinion lacks the quality to make himself known on a football pitch. Lets be honest with the oppostion we have faced this season an average defender will look ok in our team, it''s no surprise we got better when Seb came back is it? In a nut shell Martin is not the worse defender we have ever had, but surely we need better, he has shown us over the last few seasons he is a half decent Championship defender, nothing more.
