  1. quote ="FenwayFrank" Someone close to the directors box want to keep an eye out for him today ? - quote Not on such a cold day FF, no chance!
  2. We''ll be back - I don''t know how old you are mate, but the mental age of the rest of us, on this thread, has dipped all the way through this. Perhaps you might want to read through the whole post again !
  3. I''m sure the Coaching/Fitness staff are well aware of how long our season is, and the dates of the games! Also, I think it was Kenedy of Chelsea, was the first player to go down with cramp?
  4. Don''t know anything about him, but if Wolves and Huddersfield have watched him also, then that is another positive for me.
  5. I might as well stick a pin in a League table, if my form is anything to go by, but there is always time for a change! So, Juve to win at home please, and a gritty 2-1 win for City please. Good luck to the money makers
  6. Not utopia Ray, just a raising of the levels please! I was thinking more Gladiator to Gladiator, no animals! Also, should we just shrug our shoulders, and not question things, because that is just a slippery slope, if not.
  7. Ray, I get it. I am worldly wise, and know there are murderers/rapists/terrorists yada yada yada, out there, but I am just talking about sport, and the purity of competition etc. Wouldn''t it be great, if the whole (Sporting, at least?) World could have a certain level of morals, that they would all adhere to, without resorting to, for example, diving? How many footballers dived, even 25 years ago, compared with these days? We all know that certain sportspeople take drugs for instance, which , in my eyes, would always make any victories hollow and invalid. In their head, it''s what they believe is required to ''win'' at their sport, but the vast majority of people know that is a line that must never be crossed. The essence of all sport, probably goes back to the gladitorial age, purity of competition, if you like. What Willian did last night was nothing like that, but is related to what goes on, in all sports, one way or another, these days. I will never accept that, and it is a crying shame that plenty of pundits etc, try and justify it as sport. Nah
  8. It''s morally wrong. Not, to me in my naive way, how true sport should be played. That then leaks into society, but that is a WHOLE new debate!
  9. You could mention the value of the respective squads,......................
  10. Like I have said, those people have been indoctrinated, with what the ''modern'' game is about. It''s just wrong................
  11. Actually Ray, if you break down Klose''s piece, he said that , at the time, he wasn''t sure. He knew he had made contact with Willian. Afterwards, he concedes that it was ''quite close'', and ''I guess you can give it''. That, to me, is indicative of the game today, and that any contact, must mean a foul, and we have seen plenty of those type of incidents given, BUT, it doesn''t mean it is right, and I for one (and it seems, many others) are glad that at least last night, it was finally dealt with, in the correct manner. Ask Klose a specific question about Willian''s ''soft'' leg (btw, you seem to be in the minority who thinks it wasn''t) , and , now he has had a chance to see it, what he thinks Willian was doing, and looking for.
  12. Oh yes, and comfort, is not at the top of the reasons, why they have been used.
  13. Yes Swindon, in ''your'' day, that might have been the case. ;) I have had an ice bath, when I was playing sport, and it worked for me, and plenty of others. With respect to your link, that is not dealing with athletes, such as footballers, and the intense exercise (etc) they exert, over 90 minutes. That link talks about 40 minute runs on a treadmill, and then does say, "For now, there are few firm conclusions to be drawn."
  14. You are right, to a point, Hercules, but time, and the game, has moved on, and the Referees haven''t (can''t). This is a combination of their (Refs) bosses) and their own physical limitations, when you are trying to ask them to keep speed with the athletes of the modern era. VAR will definitely help certain things, and help the Ref''s get more decisions correct, and stop a certain amount of vilification of them
  15. I actually agree with your last line Ray, but that is because it is the current trend. Just because the pundits and Poll, say it was a penalty, doesn''t mean they are right. It just means they have been brainwashed, into thinking that any contact is a foul. The reason there was contact was because Willian drew the contact. Hopefully this is the start of a sea change in this thinking, and that we happened to be the first beneficiaries of this. History has been made!
  16. VAR WILL make a positive difference MP. It won''t be foolproof, but it certainly will improve things, and expose (change?) one or two cheats, and also help Refs. You are totally missing the point of it, if you think it is useless, and offers nothing.
  17. Plenty of stretching/ice baths/nutrition/massages, for 2 days and they''ll be fine.
  18. I''m so glad that Willian''s "penalty" was not given. I am fed up with, as others have said, the ball player''s leg, suddenly ''collapses'', into a non stride, and then makes contact with the defender''s leg.'' It''s about time that these type of ''incidents'' were highlighted. Morata''s was another one. Jenas''s comment about ''entitled to go down'' was pathetic, but unfortunately, prevalent, in the game. Well played Referee, for being strong, and it is quite unusual for a Ref to be like that, in such a situation, where the underdog is away to a ''Big team''.
  19. Well played lads. Very proud. Now rest and recover, for Saturday
  20. I thought Timm was immense, until that header.......
