1. I think it''s fair to say most Norwich fans were unsure of the appointment of Alex Neil, however were always going to get behind him. There was an element who had a gut instict that all would work out, however, in equal measure theirs was an element who never gave him a chance before calling him a cheap appointment or uninspiring at best, some saying Phelan, Warnock or McCoist 😂😂😂would have been a better appointment!! It''s fair to say most Accies fans had so much faith in him, now Norwich have had a period under him you guys are now seeing what we had previously seen. Will be interesting to see what business he does in the transfer market, he showed at Accies he would stick by most of the squad however he also showed his ruthless streak by bringing in a new goalie (McGovern) on the back of our promotion when many of us thought the previous keeper (cuthbert) was not necessarily a weak link, possible a point worth noting for existing Norwich players that no ones position is safe. Very impressed with how the Norwich players have took to Sir Alex, many would never have heard of him but they have bought into his ideas and philosophy when other players with bigger egos might have shown themselves up with a ''big time charlie'' attitude. Good luck for next season and beyond, hope Norwich continue to thrive under Alex and Frankie.
2. Arrogance on here (from the minority) is astounding, not just on this thread but over several, would appear that if you are not in some wee clique then your comments are not welcome. For the record, yes we do look at #siralex career, we want him to do well, continue to progress and be a success, the fact that this would result in Norwich being successful is a side issue. It increases the profile of our game which it badly needs. It''s without doubt that the Championship holds a higher profile in the SPFL, eng#and is much bigger than Scotland and gets money thrown at the game, but don''t get ideas above your station, Eng#ands best are still miles behind others. The £££ is the deciding factor, just look at Martin o''Neil who left the English game to come to Scotland, I seriously doubt he was excited about the prospect of playing at Fir Park opposed to old Trafford. Know your place, be grateful of support and best of luck. For the record, we fucked Airdrie 5-0 in AN''s debut as manager.
3.
a manager who does wonders with limited resources. Sounds perfect with a Board who want the cheapest option Im afraid. IF you were on the Norwich board at the start of the season with the parachute money from the premiership would you as a outside opinion, have gone for Alex Neil or Neil Lennon as your manger to get promotion back to the premiership.. Answer honestly? Is Alex Neil better than Neil Lennon as a manager?
Is that Neil Lennon who had no managerial experience when he took on the Celtic job?? Who Celtic fans had huge doubts about? I can''t tell u who is better, Lennon took on a huge job, won the SPL a few times with no competition, I honestly think that it would be difficult for ANYONE not to win the league as Celtic manager currently. Good results in Europe under Lennon but possibly a flash in the pan!! Put it this way, I can''t see how Lennon would have had the same success if he was Accies manager, for 20 months Neil has had Accies punching above there weight. No guarantees in football but I''m confident Neil will certainly not take Norwich backwards or standstill!!
4. Further to the above, I can''t see Neil being a player/manager, he''s very good up here, dirty as well but the English Championship will be too quick for him, wouldn''t be surprised to see him play reserve team football and coach youngsters through a game, he done this with James McCarthy (everton) and James Mcarthur (palace) He isn''t daft and will know he has to make a go of it as a manager, he will concentrate on this.
5. I''ve read quite a lot of this forum since ''Sir Alex'' was announced to be in talks with Norwich, some of the negativity is simply ridiculous, however I do understand some fans are sceptical about his ability, I''ve posted elsewhere on here but I can''t stress how good Neil has been for at Accies when he took over with zero managerial experience. I probably don''t appreciate the size of Norwich City but Neil shows great promise. Accies are a very small team, to get us into the premier league is a great achievement in itself, to get us to 3rd after 20 games and 3 points behind Celtic is nothing short of a miracle. Yes I know The scottish league is poor, the step up in standard of league is vast however the step up in terms of ability of player he is working with on a day to day basis is even greater. Neil gets the best out of his players, here he has players playing the best football of their careers, albeit they may be limited in ability in comparison to some Norwich players but that''s not what we are debating. His managerial record is short but so far - taken over a floundering team sitting near the bottom of the Scottish championship, won 6 from 8 games, shows he can motivate. - first full pre season, brought in a few of his own players but with bulk of the same squad, got us promoted via the play offs, shows he has an eye for a player and continued to improve players who he inherited. - continued development of young players, got them playing consistently well - this year we are playing teams who have resources we can only dream of, we are beating them comfortably, never took a hammering despite the step up - plays good football, with better players, the standard will improve (so will the opposition) but we are a small fish playing in a big pond (for a club of our size) Norwich appear to be a big club playing in a league below where many think they belong. I''m aware he didn''t have an illustrious playing career but that goes for nothing, equally he doesn''t have vast experience, but what he has done in 20 months at Hamilton is incredible. Another wee while at Accies would have done him no harm but if his career continues to develop at a fraction of how it has gone previous Norwich will have a fu(king great manager. Hopefully u have a good scouting system, he will need help identifying players of the standard Norwich require to kick on, hopefully Phelan stays by his side and offers him guidance. Players who don''t respect him possibly don''t belong at such a big club if they can''t show the professionalism a supporter would expect, it''s them who will lose out as Neil isn''t one to take nonsense, hopefully he will rid your club of any deadwood and improve it with new hungry players or develop what appears to be a quality youth system. Best of luck, Norwich will be the first English result I look for, same with a lot of our fans. #InSirAlexWeTrust #OTBC
6. What a load of total push talk!!!! How many times hav you seen an Alex Neil team play football??? Hoof all?? It couldn''t be further off the mark, ball on the deck, goalkeeper o fullbacks, short sharp passing a 4-2-3-1 formation, high intensity pressing off the ball, giving numerous teams a doing who are much bigger in terms of stature, currently 3rd in the league, (not a great one) but it''s the equivalent of Norwich being In a champs league place at this stage of a premier league season. Neil has proved already he can galvanise a team. Recruit well Play good football Bring youth thru He is lacking in experience and the appointment may or may not work but for fuck sake give the guy a chance!!!
7. Neil took over Accies at at time our previous manager had gone very stale, I think he won 6 out of the remaining 8 games and that season playing In the Scottish championship, this is the league that Accies probably belong in terms of a historical position of the club. In his 1st full season we made some really good signings, got rid of a bit of dead wood and had a really good season, pushing Dundee all the way in the title race ( resource wise they are a much bigger club) We went into the playoffs defeating Falkirk over two legs the. Took on Hibs, again over two legs, a poor home showing was soon forgotten when we beat them 2-0 on ther on patch, and the job was done in a penalty shootout. This season Neil has made some brave decisions, and brought in stronger players again on a budget that''s a fraction of our rivals who trail us by just shy of 30 points. We have beat Celtic on their park, thumped Motherwell home and away, beat Aberdeen by 3 and several other really good results, all under Sir Alex leadership. I appreciate Norwich is a step up and a big one for him but he certainly deserves a move. His biggest task will be gaining respect from higher profile players and also identifying players to recruit. He has done this at Accies but it''s a different level in the championship Neil is a gamble but at least his ''short'' record is impressive. Oscar Garcia, McCoist etc have a bigger profile but they have been failures, warnock has achieved in past years but appears past it.I know who I would rather take a chance on. If sir Alex does go, accies fans will be gutted but equally delighted for the man. Aw the best.
