  1. Seen enough tonight to know we''ve brought in yet another dud striker. Missed a sitter and slashed at a half chance but worse than that he just didn''t get into the box enough. Very, very disappointing debut. On the bright side though - KYLE LAFFERTY!!!!!!! A proper striker when played in his correct position as tonight proves FFS. Another positive - a clean sheet at last and even more amazing - no sloppy goals given away - now remind me, who was missing for us at the back tonight?!! Now for a cup run...
  2. Brilliant result and performance from the lads. Great goal too by RM, his planes, trains and automobiles around the country trip after the birth of his child last night prove what a great ambassador he is once again. BUT the undeniable fact is he gifted them the first goal by giving the ball away. FACT
  3. "5 games in and at least one sloppy and totally avoidable goal has been conceded in each match" "Russell Martin''s credentials as a centre half and a captain will be firmly put under the microscope" I take absolutely no pleasure in my two main observations/points coming home to roost in the same move. Only Ruddy''s brilliance spared Russell Martin''s blushes in the first half or it would''ve been 2 glaring RM errors and 2 goals conceded.
  4. As you seem to know everything about me Tilson surely you don''t need to ask me when I graced the turf of Plantation Park?!! It was the mid 90''s actually but I don''t remember Smudger playing alongside me. You fancy yourself as a detective so I''ll let you do the rest...
  5. The Pig & Whistle, Westlegate has definitely got it.
  6. "Ruthers1, do you still live at home with your mum?" Lol. Don''t tar me with your own brush. I''m the exception not the rule on here Grim!
  7. "Did he ever come back and eat that pie ?" Actually I did. I came on here just after the Play Off Final and admitted I was wrong. I wonder why you or Happy Clappy haven''t managed to find that post?!! And IF I''m wrong about our defence being the worst in the league this season I''ll happily do it again.
  8. "To further rub salt into the wound we eventually end up with the poor man''s Neil Lennon in the shape of Alex Neil" And we did - you can''t deny he felt like the poor man''s Neil Lennon back on January 9th. Hindsight is such a wonderful thing however - which is why you''ve brought this up now for the first time Happy Clappy. We''ll never know what Lennon would''ve achieved here last season with this squad. He may even have got us promoted automatically, who knows.
  9. "And then in the next, he''s an uneducated football baffoon who wouldn''t know a good player from Andy Hughes. " I know a buffoon from a baffoon though ;-) You''re the former. FFS.
  10. "But Anfield is one of the tougher away games and to lose there would be more about the performance than the result IMHO." And that is where YOUR argument is laughable. Anfield is no longer one of the tougher away games I''m afraid. Just ask West Ham and Bournemouth (who would''ve won there too without corrupt officials!) Also I didn''t single out Anfield I paired it with the visit to Upton Park next week because neither of these opponents are exactly pulling up trees at home this season (just 2 wins out of 5). So you''re yet another poster who can''t (or won''t) read posts properly.
  11. "Reading between the lines the OP is hoping for a defeat at Anfield" On the contrary, I''m hoping for a win and to be proved wrong. Don''t you people read posts properly?!! When I say worst defence by the way I''m not talking about five games, I''m talking about the last 43 games played in this league as we''ve used virtually all the same defenders.
  12. "Maybe then, just maybe, we can go to places like Liverpool and snatch a win..." You''re sadly deluded if you think me backing Martin on here will give us a better chance of snatching a win at Anfield. Sooner rather than later however the penny will drop and the lack of quality and a leader at the back will be horribly exposed. Unfortunately we won''t be able to do diddly squat about it until January when it might be too late to stop the rot. I''m a massive supporter of the club and team BUT I won''t say black is white when it''s clearly not: The manager is outstanding, the midfield too but the strike force is below average and the defence the worst in the league. That''s not a lack of support on my part it''s simply being truthful.
  13. "I like the positivity of saying that Sundrland, Stoke and Bournemouth are already 3 teams worse than us. 17th or better then, happy days." Kurious- Where did I say they were worse than us?!!! Very curious.
  14. 5 games in and at least one sloppy and totally avoidable goal has been conceded in each match. To make matters worse we haven''t played two decent Premiership sides in a row yet with Sunderland, Stoke and Bournemouth all set to be scrapping it out at the wrong end of the table. However, Liverpool and West Ham are about to change all of that. These next two games both away from Carrow Rd represent the real acid test for our defence and will tell us a lot about how shrewd our transfer window dealings really were and how well equipped we are to survive in this league. Russell Martin''s credentials as a centre half and a captain will be firmly put under the microscope over the next week or so and I genuinely hope he proves me and the rest of his doubters wrong. Here''s hoping...
  15. "We''ll never play you again!" Sung to rival Championship team''s fans after we''ve been promoted to the premier league. We always do of course!
  16. "Can''t see Newcastle going down." You''re obviously not watching tonight''s game then?! Absolute shambles, team bus turned up late, shame it didn''t get lost completely on this evidence! They can''t string 2 passes together let alone fashion a shot in anger for the Wally with the Brolly. Plenty good enough for em'' though.
  17. Newcastle, Bournemouth and us unfortunately. Sunderland will do their usual late escape act by hiring Big Sam this time around to lift them out of trouble late on.
  18. "Rubbish, your posturing was exposed and you ducked out of answering the question by resorting to "we need a quality CB". Your OP was simply starting another negative thread after all yesterday''s positives." OMG! I do believe you''re being serious. Lighten up FFS.
  19. "That''s interesting ruthers, who did you play for?" Blofield Utd Lapps
  20. "Were you a centre back in your playing days ruthers?" Yes I was Lapps, and even at Anglian Com level I never saw any teams switch off at set pieces to such an extent as City are currently. Also, I can''t believe the number of posters who thought the reference to zonal marking was a serious observation. It was sarcasm aimed at the total lack of marking going on.
  21. "Would it maybe help Alex Neil and the team if ruthers1 explained to them exactly what they should be doing." Easy, we move RM to right back and give ''his'' captains armband to a natural leader and organiser at centre half. All these goals we are shipping to free headers from set pieces are totally preventable and are due to laziness at the breakdown and resumption of play. A Tony Adams type character is what we need to give certain individuals a verbal volley to stop their minds from wandering in these dead ball situations.
  22. "Nice try Ruthers but time to review and update your stats, we aren''t conceding two goals a game. Conceded 9 goals in 5 games. That''s 1.8 a game." We''ve played nobody yet, 5 average sides including the bottom 2 in the table. Our average goals conceded WILL be somewhere between 2 and 3 per game come the end of the season. Sorry for repeating myself but this means we will need 3 goals to win a game as has been the case thus far.
  23. "Nobody cares. Sod off until next week." Then why reply German?! I''m here all week.
  24. Of course statistically (& with plenty of hindsight) we''d have beaten Stoke, B''mouth and S''land by only scoring 2 goals. That''s not my point. My point is we leak 2 goals every game (on average) and therefore need to be scoring 3 to be sure. If we''d have scored 2 goals against each of the 3 teams mentioned above they may not have been ''killed off'' and may have got a further goal themselves feeling that they were still in the game. Based on this my prediction is that our only wins this season will come in the games we manage to score a minimum of 3 goals (bang on so far) in. How many clubs do you think we''ll manage that against? My guess is only 5 or 6 which won''t be enough to keep us up unfortunately.
  25. As Cloughie once said "I''ve never seen a space score a goal!" Surely we are going to revert to man-marking after conceding from yet another set-piece to a goal scorer given the freedom of Carrow Road?!!! Before you all wet yourselves yes, I''m being sarcastic. Great overall performance today but as I said before a ball had been kicked this season - with our dreadful defence conceding an average of 2 goals a game we''ll need to score 3 goals to win a game. And so it''s proving to be.
