  1. It may be significant that several players have now publically stated that they want the loan players to stay, Drury, Greeno, Mulryne to name a few. These three in particular know that with Hucks and Crouch in the team their own ambitions are about to be realised Don''t the club owe it to them to go for this? Imagine the dressing room if Hucks is sold to Sheffield Utd, and Crouch just sits in A Villa reserves. Wouldn''t like to have to motivate them to play then, would you? Hucks was great on saturday, so was PC - they all were. This is the team that can lead us to the top, to the prem. We deserve it, the club deserve it, but most of all loyal players like Greeno deserve it. He wants it to happen. Now tell me about restraint and keeping within our means!!! We want promotion, if you won''t listen to me, listen to OUR players!!!!
  2. thanks diane, i was trying very hard to see the other point of view, all i know is on the 13th of December whatever happens i will be proud to watch Darren Huckerby play for our club, he and Peter Crouch and Kevin Harper have come in and lifted us to another level, which sadly we were unable to reach without them. For that i will forever be grateful, as you say, passion is a force you cannot fight, and i for one don''t intend to, good or bad. As you say, we are all entitled to our opinion and I actually respect people who don''t hold the same one as me, if we all had the same thoughts and opinions this board would be dead, so good on you Mook. Diane, how do you plan to celebrate the signings of Crouch and Hucks then? Also, give another site a try, carrowroad.net/community, you will find a bunch of real football fans on there too. See you there.
  3. having read the man over the years i could tell his tongue was rather firmly placed in his cheek!!!!!!!!! and to those of you on here who don''t want the above to happen what a shame, thanks for the news SI, where did you find this news?
  4. i can only speak for myself here, but i have been investing in this club for over thirty years, they have had enough of my money to buy a whole hucking team!! it won''t go wrong, how can it, half way nearly through the season and we are second because of the loan players, if we keep hucks and crouch we will go up.
  5. mook, i don''t want to get personal about this mate, i am sure you are a loyal and true canary, we all are, if we weren''t we wouldn''t be on here would we, we would just go to the game and it would end there, we wouldn''t spend what is probably too much time on websites, writing letters to the pink un, to the directors, etc etc, all of which i plead guilty to in the past three months. I have many a time taken a long hard look at myself, i can''t boast 20000 consecutive games, i have missed big games over the years for family stuff, when i couldn''t afford to go, no one can really claim to be the number one fan, we all are. But what i do feel at the moment is this season we have been given a golden chance by both worthy, who incidentially i rate for the way he stands up to the board, if not always for his tactical decisions, and the board for getting the loan players here in the first place. He has brought in three players, who i am sure even you have to agree have helped us to that second place, and it is great - but please, if they go, we won''t be second at the end of the season - do you really think we would be second but for hucks, crouch and harper? That is what snake pit rebel, diane, myself and rainbowchaser amongst others are saying. We want to take that chance to have the premiership experience again. I know there are always fans who will watch anything, as long as they are in yellow shirts, that is not me and you can call me disloyal, perhaps i am, i have my limits, like most people, but i cannot sit back and watch this club throw away our best chance in years of escaping the nationwide. I really can''t. I know i have said this constantly on many a post, and i will continue whatever the decision, whenever that may be. If the board buy them both, i will be on here congratulating them. And i still think things can be worked out, but they are making such a meal of it, both of them could be our players already, and the deals sealed. I want the best for our club, and we have been here long enough, how much longer before you yourself would want some answers? If we don''t do these deals, if we don''t get promoted soon, some even tougher decisions will have to be made, Worthy himself won''t stay forever, Green, Drury are both premiership standard, how long before they go? We are all after promotion in this division, but this year we have the golden opportunity - we have a great, great chance. Sorry, i cannot sit back and do nothing. I have tried to speak to various people on the board, but they don''t consider one mere fan worth talking to. Fact. So i come on here and other boards, to discuss our options. That''s all there is to it, yes, i do want our club to risk it all and go for it. Call me disloyal, call me mad, but i tell you something, mook, i am as passionate about this club as you and everyone who holds a different opinion.
  6. well what have they done, you tell me? if they pull these deals off, i will be the first to say thank you, and i will, be here to see it but all they have said in public is the usual predictable money related stuff, we haven''t got the money, can''t risk the club we have heard it all before, we have been here too long, this season we have the means to get out of this division, if we stay here much longer we will be left without any decent players, how long do you think green will stay after this season if we fail to make the play offs, what about mcv, mulryne, and worthy? that lovely new stand is going to look great, half full - you can call me everything under the sun, and most of you have, i don''t care, all i care about is getting this club back up where we all want it to be i repeat, if they are doing or have done the deals, well great, if not, then the consequences at the end of this season could be dire. We cannot run at 4m losses forever. We don''t need to just buy hucks and crouch, a new stand don''t win promotion, nor does a fancy restaurant, the board has more than stabilised this club, now it is time to go for it it''s now or never (with apologies to elvis!)
  7. was that goodbye? i hope not, if so, then the board want to come out and explain why no money, yeah right, there is always money if you need it like to build a flash new stand? what use will that be if we have no players and no manager left come the end of the season if the board don''t get their collective fingers out i have said this so many times, Si, i am sure you know my line by now, but it is so obvious to everyone bar the board to get promotion we need a better team than anyone else, with hucks and crouch (who were both great yesterday) we will go up, without them, no chance and as the other players of any merit drift away, i hope they can justify having cold feet, cos they will need to.
  8. well we did today 1-0 hucks and if they had never been here, what position in the division would we be in today, second? no chance of course southampton could afford hucks and crouch. But we want to be a southampton, don''t we, so we have to bite the bullet and take a chance, for once in our lives we have to take a chance we haven''t had glory days for a while, and i think it is not too difficult to see why last time, take a chance on a couple of players to stengthen mike walkers squad - no way, chase had built too many stands! next time, martin o''neill, where would we be now if he had stayed? It is painful even to contemplate how we threw that one away. and now, our best chance for years, we (and i mean the board here) stutter for three months over buying our two loan stars, huckerby and crouch. Oh yeah, i''ll be protesting alright, you watch me!!!!
  9. hiya mook well if they can magic up money to build a stand, then they can find a couple of million for a couple of players who will bring us many more the money is there, we can still get crouch on a loan, no one else has come in for him and villa don''t want him hucks wants to stay here and will take a cut to do it, we are not taking so much money it is impossible to do either/both deals. We have several high earners coming to the end of their contracts (abbey, roberts) notman retiring, add that up and it will go towards paying hucks and crouch. If we did nothing, and they leave, do we then repeat the process and pay the same loan wages to two/three new loan players, because nigel doesn''t have a big/good enough squad to do it without them. He has stated that many a time. If we don''t go up, who is going to go at the end of the season? Well greeno, drury, mcveigh and mulryne! You think they are all going to stay after seeing ''us'' throw away such a great chance. this division is so even this year, no one is running away with it, we were mid table when the three came, now we are second. God i don''t want anymore of this division, and surely the board don''t either, but they have to do something one year, we won''t get promoted just for building a new stand or having delia''s restaurants. i would be delighted to come and talk to the board, but they don''t give a toss about what ordinary fans think - i have tried to get to talk to munby and was told he was "too busy"! Well not doing deals he ain''t.
  10. maybe i was the one who told you guys and i will tell you again if we sign hucks and crouch we will get promoted, we have struggled in the previous three games prior to the crewe game and we were still 2nd what does that tell you? That it is an even league, we only have to play at half speed to keep our place, yeah, we could have played as we did against millwall, walsall, etc and be four or five points clear, but we didn''t and we''re not, but bringing mulryne in has done the trick today, we were a totally different team out there today, a first class goal too by that ''luxury'' DH too. We are aiming (well i hope we are) for the prem, we need luxury players with vision, skill and that little bit extra, and god almighty he is playing for us, and if he stays (which he will) we will get promoted !!! It''s simple, all that is needed in this division this year is a little bit extra, and we have that - if you were lucky you saw it today, given the service from a mulryne fuelled midfield, hucks was just great! Another few games like that and maybe a few more people will start believing it every team will go through a dodgy lean spell, we just have, and we have got through it - just enjoy, the football today was at times inspired. We can have so much more of it it is all down to choices, do we want to go up or not if we do, the answer is simple sign hucks and crouch. No excuses, no messing, just sign them.
  11. in reply to everyone, whether they are pro signing hucks, crouch, or whoever i think we all agree we have to do something When is the board going to wake up to the fact we have to spend to get out of this division, are they expecting some sort of medal for having a ''nice'' family club and as for the new stand - that will look SO good half empty next season when we are still here because they all hesitated and didn''t do anything for god''s sake, huckerby WANTS to stay here, he doesn''t want to go to wigan, w brom, sheff utd, etc etc, all these clubs would love him, despite a lot of fans here and elsewhere suddenly deciding he is just an average player. Compared to beckham and owen, yes he might be, but he is decidely above average in this division. How do the board explain that we are currently in second place, and that with a dip in form for the past 3 games, we could have been top by now!!! This is not all due to hucks, i am not saying that, but a large part of it is. Why can''t the board see this? Do they want to see the likes of ipswich take out place, they were in admin recently, but manage to buy one of their loan players, he may have not commanded the fees of a huckerby, but at least they are doing something meanwhile munby sits silent, and treats us all like mushrooms. As for Crouch, who knows, it is all as clear as mud, why don''t we do something a bit more positive, offer him a full season loan, talk to O''Leary, sort out Harper too, and as for Hucks just buy him!!! He wants to stay, he is not going to cost millions and command 20 grand a week, come on, he isn''t stupid, if he wanted that money he would still be in man city reserves, he wants to kick start his career, and do it here. Wake up board, before clubs wanting promotion do something about it, leaving you to drool over empty, shiny, new seats sorry for the rant guys, i am just so incredibly frustrated with the lack of action!!! Rant over. Maybe i should go on the 606 rant line!!!!
  12. is this april fools come early, or worthy''s idea of a joke to tell the board to get their fingers out and sign a decent striker could be, anyway, kuqi is going to ipswich, we have hucks and crouch, who needs him? get the deals sorted norwich, before the rest of division one swoop!!
  13. like your first suggestion of three upfront your second suggestion is far too brave for any manager to try, and worthy would never make that many changes, more''s the pity, they were crap on tuesday, there should be wholesale changes!! i would like to see shackell given a chance - but think holt may return to the back four, don''t laugh, i can see it happening. Rivers in, yes, and mulryne, who should have been there for the past few games, what did millwall and walsall prove, we can score at will, attack and provide service to hucks and crouch. Holt and Francis are too similar, and create nothing between them, francis and mulryne in centre with mcv/hucks on the left and crouch and hucks/mcv upfront with him. I am still not sure which position suits either of them best, would like to see them switch around to fool the opposition. Green edworthy, shackell, flems, drury rivers, francis, mulryne, hucks/mcv crouch hucks/mcv this is far too attacking though, could produce a big win and we don''t want to go top, do we? yes, we do, we are aching for a ball passing display - on the floor and no hoof and hope please!!!! I know this team won''t happen, but you can dream can''t you?
  14. yes, brilliant stuff susie but i think you have to accept people in general are fickle and forget quickly to all of you who now want hucks to go, if he does i hope you can find it in yourselves to be positive when we are looking up the table from 13th place if he goes, who is going to replace him, no one currently at the club i suggest, or he wouldn''t have come here in the first place - boy do we need him and crouch!! If nothing else, the last three games have only emphasised how much we need both hucks and crouch, we are a very small squad!! Susie, yes, every point you make is valid, and i wish everyone could stand back sometimes and think a little about what those three players have contributed in the past three months. I was disappointed about the last three games, but it only made me hope more and more that the club is doing something behind closed doors, it would be such a shame to waste our great start.
  15. you must have read my mind mate yes, indeed, we will see the day when holty finally plays in every position this is ridiculous worthy, we are losing points fast play mulryne and we just might score some more goals, get passing again and use the undoubted talents of messrs crouch, huckerby, mcveigh and rivers (yes he needs to come back too) please, do it, and do it saturday
  16. maclean may be doing the business at scunthorpe, but that is a million miles from division one and where we want to be aiming for. Worthy may or may not be interested, i am sure he has learnt his lesson in publicising his intentions in the press, which is why none of us have a clue what is going on, good or bad. He maybe looking elsewhere for a replacement for crouch or hucks, but i think not, he has got this far, why would he want to step back and trawl the lower leagues for a quick fix. Sometimes it works (drury) but mostly it does not (abbey). Worthy knows who he wants and that is the player he has been quoted as saying "he is the best i have ever worked with" He is not going to give up hucks without a fight; extending crouch''s loan is a good deal easier, but just as much part of his game plan. If hucks really wants to stay here, he will. And he does.
  17. I too would have liked to have seen Mulryne playing yesterday, all in all I rate him as the most complete and talented player we have. It is no coincidence that recently our most attacking periods of play and the ensuing goal fests have all occured when Mullers has been on the pitch. Some say he is not consistent, no one is 100% consistent or sensational over every single game. This is the first division and with the exception of Green (who is in a highly specialised position) we do not have any world beaters. We do have highly capable players who are better than or can meet the standards of similar players from the other teams in div one. Mullers is one of those. It would have been great to have seen him influence the game yesterday, the game crying out for someone to boss it, and he is the man for that sort of role. I don''t know the full facts, maybe he wasn''t quite fit enough, and yes, we got a point and are second, but I came away feeling very disappointed that we weren''t carrying on from the Walsall game in terms of tactics - Preston were by no means that fantastic and we could have beaten them to go top. Scary thought eh, and it could happen on Tuesday. I hope Mullers returns then with Francis in midfield. We have to be positive at home against Coventry and Crewe. With Huckerby and Crouch playing and Mulryne feeding the front players it could be really good. Let''s hope it happens and we don''t throw away our golden chance to be top by the start of December.
  18. exactly rebel come on, he may be good at division three level, but so would most of you guys on this board this is just stupid, we need nigel and the board to put all their energies into securing hucks and crouch not spending time on someone who is unlikely to make the grade in division one, as someone said, if he were that good, rangers would have sent him somewhere else, sorry scunthorpe, but 24 goals for you is not what we are aiming for for god''s sake board, act now or we will be in this division forever!!
  19. thanks for your response peter appreciated
  20. for peter raven, administrator: does the board read these posts as they are put up on here, or do they just assume we are all united in thinking what they would like us to think do you or anyone colleague print these posts and put them on any desks would really like to know thanks
  21. uni your wonderful post on the thread ambition has been well received mate!!!! please do send it to the board, we cannot just sit here and worry about the situation regarding this club and the big decision it has to make - i think i can echo both Rainbowchaser and King Juan in saying you have summed up being a city fan admirably if you need any assistance i will be pleased to help i for one cannot just sit here and watch history repeat itself, i don''t know what to do really, i have tried to get a meeting with munby, but was fobbed off, there is the ncfc forum at Fakenham on december 8th, so i will be attending that (if it is still on) i hope it won''t be too late by then uni, go for it mate, we are (there are always some exceptions!) all behind you they have to know how we feel!! this wonderful team of ours could be really great, could achieve promotion, we are not talking bankrupting the club, we are talking buying the most talented player i have seen here for years, about extending the loan of another who we desperately need in his role and possibly buying (for 300k) a right winger who can defend. this is not going to push us into admin, it will push us to the premiership go for it uni, you are a real fan, i salute you
  22. shall i send you some estate agent blurb now then rc? let''s all hope they get their collective fingers out and show some decisiveness!! If Hucks were to go to Wigan, it would be like giving them all the points we had so far won come on board, if you are really looking after the fans'' interests, start listening NOW
  23. so aptly put unimiller you are so right - but don''t expect the board to even be remotely interested in you you and me (and everyone else) are only fans and we count for nothing, except to be patronised and told this club has been returned to the fans yeah right so do something constructive then board, sign hucks and crouch - we have been telling you long enough, but you don''t listen to us do you!!! a brilliant post uni - made me laugh initially, but i am sure if they fuck this one up (not buying the loan players) by the end of the season it will make me cry i have been a supporter for many years, and love this club, but as you say, there are limits we are now standing where we were after Milan when Mike Walker asked for funds we could have gone on to be really something - but Chase blew it, you know the rest this must not happen again, we have a golden chance, to return to the premiership and all the talk will then be football
  24. couldn''t agree with you more franco I think we would lose Worthy before the end of his contract - he wants to get to the Premiership and if we don''t go for it and get the loan players, especially Hucks and Crouch, we will be throwing away a golden chance. Pushing the boat out may not be as drastic as some would want us to believe. Sources say Harper is £300,000, a snip for him - Crouch could be kept on a season long loan for now and Hucks'' latest price seems to be around 850k, he will of course have to take a wage cut to stay here, but why wouldn''t he, he gets to play every week, a great chance of re-establishing himself - instead of sitting it out in Man City reserves. He loves the area as we all well know already. He isn''t the problem, it is the board who still think we can achieve promotion without the three, or by getting in some replacements in January. We have the best now, why swop for some inferior models? We throw this chance away and sink to 10th position and the consequences are dire. We are still losing money, that will continue, despite the new stand, we will almost certainly lose Greeno, Drury and most importantly Worthy. This is Mike Walker and Milan all over again, I sincerely hope this time this board can look ahead and go for it. We cannot sit and watch Hucks go to Wigan, West Ham or Millwall (all recently named as being interested). That is like giving them the points we have already worked so hard for. I put my trust and faith in Worthy to deliver, if anyone can, he will. Keep the faith
  25. yes, i think that we will get huckerby, but the waiting is doing my head in how can we not go for this golden opportunity how can we not, last time we let it all slide away, this time we must get hucks, and crouch and harper to if at all possible this division is wide open this season and if we want to get out of it, those three will more than do it for us come on board, go and get your man (men!)
