  1. Bring back Chippy. It seems no one wants to put money into NCFC, or if they do, they don''t want Delia calling the shots about how it''s spent or how the club is run. While she holds the majority of the shares don''t expect any significant investment. First game of the season and we hear what a load of rubbish! Well, unless you were either on another planet entirely, let''s perhaps concede that the majority of supporters there (excluding Col U fans) were in fact correct. We had gone down 5-0 BY HALF TIME. We had just been relegated to a division most of us have no experience of (ie over 50 years ago). We had a sell out crowd, that fact alone an amazing example of how many supporters the club has. Now Chippy, I don''t know what you think qualifies as rubbish, but a total no show (barring a few players) almost certainly does. A 2-0 defeat would have been bad enough, had we played as we did Saturday. Where was the team work, the passing, the cohesion, the thought, the leadership? Nothing evident and once Colchester woke up to the fact this would be their easiest victory of the season they were away. Maybe some of the players hadn''t played in front of a large crowd before, in that case they had probably expected those with that experience to guide them (ie our senior players and not forgetting the management team, all of whom had played at a much higher level than we do today). Where was the guidance, the thought, the tactics? Clueless the lot of them. I am sure most of us will continue to support the team, we all sing and back them, but come on, how on earth can ANYONE congratulate or even support such a fiasco, words fail me. You can call me a moaning whinger all you like - frankly I couldn''t care less. I have, like every other fan, every right to express my opinion after the complete and utter fiasco such was we witnessed on Saturday. To be honest I don''t think you could pay 17,000 fans to sit and watch anything akin to that ''game'' and show the support you would consider positive. It''s time supporters sent direct messages to the club that enough is enough. Saturday was just another Charlton, it shows Gunn and co have learnt nothing and have nothing positive to give either. The sooner they are all relieved of their jobs the better. Those who still have faith in them must be diminishing by the hour. As for the most "critical" fans in the country - you have to be joking. I would say we are one of the most long suffering. What other club would have put up with our record over the past 5 or so seasons. Indeed since Delia and co have been on the board. As someone said yesterday, San Siro to Somerset. Exactly. As for the players you think are not up to it, again, merely symptoms of the disease. They may, or may not be good players, but with a management team completely incapable of getting any response from them, where can it lead? The question is Chippy, does Bryan go before we are faced with a second successive relegation battle?
  2. Ron, you may well be right. It''s frightening reading isn''t it? Whether or not she, or any of us, are committed Christians or not, we have to remember that NCFC is a football club, and while it''s fine to have upstanding morals and good intent, when these values extend to letting completely incompetent staff hand on to their jobs, someone has to step in and advise her that really, she should make some harder decisions, or if she feels unable to do so, to have someone else do it for her. And for me, therein lies the problem. Her ego (fuelled in no small manner by a faction of supporters who come to the match because of her - believe me, there are some) has become NCFC''s downfall. When things are going well she will bask in the glory, when things are not going well, she has her staff do the dirty work. It''s not just a highly dangerous or laughable policy, it extends to seeking publicity outside of sport, witnessed in her recent cookery series, where there were a significant number of cameo pieces of her and her family at the club, including match days. While this, you could say is all welcome publicity for Norwich, you could also argue that it cements a focus on everything but football. We are known in some quarters as Delia Smith''s Norwich City, and sadly this seems to have become fact in her mind. Whether or not Michael is party to her beliefs I am unsure, but someone has to spell it out to her before things turn nasty, as they will, should Saturday''s fiasco become a norm on Saturdays.
  3. LQ - the only positive thing as far as I am concerned is the publicity the two season tickets holders have given the club. They should not be banned or anything like that but given a season ticket for life (or would that be further punishment?). Today at work I spoke to people who normally have no interest in football who asked why they did it. I gave them my opinion saying some of us had had all we can take, and with meetings, protests and everything else, these two have now put the club and its sorry state all over the back pages of the national press. Quality stuff lads. We all owe you.
  4. It was Shaun Lawson, aka the Bigfeller who wrote a fantastic post on here at the back end of last season, he''s usually found on WOTB, but have a search for his posts on this site as well. Quality stuff, wasn''t it, he was also on Canary Call.
  5. Well I just don''t know what to say, except Delia and Bryan deserve each other. The fans, the city and the (once) proud heritage of our beloved club certainly do not. The more I think about it, the more I want to do the same as the Season Ticket Two. At least then I would be spared any more of this fiasco. When oh when will those with the ability to change things, ie Delia and Michael see the light? What more harm do they have to inflict on our football club. Sorry, I correct myself, this is no longer a football club, it''s a joke. Can they not see that allowing Bryan Gunn and his team any more options/chances is suicide? How can they think he''s the man to rebuild? They certainly are not - little by little the Delia regime has all but destroyed a once proud club. Look at us, we are national news because of a disastrous plummeting down the football ladder. A 7-1 loss at home and the result. A hug from Delia! Surely it could only happen here. As if Charlton wasn''t enough. Two relegations Delia, how many more would you like to preside over? I thought yesterday was bad, but this news is even worse. I don''t doubt the OP''s words, and believe him. I just can''t face turning on SSN as I would fear for the health of my TV. Just how low do we have to sink before this woman and her hangers on stop, admit defeat and walk away? What do we do , the fans who have seen through all of this, what on earth do we have to do to stop this farce, this destruction of our club? I have never, and I repeat never been closer to walking away from the club than I am tonight. When I think of the great games I have seen and the fine wonderful people I have met through supporting Norwich City, the thought of Delia giving Bryan Gunn another minute in charge makes my blood boil. To think we, the fans continue to allow her to continue - I just don''t have the words. I am struggling to remain calm. I really am. But this absolute farce would test the patience of a saint. Fellow city fans, just where do we go from here?
  6. Added to all of that, funnily enough I read something on the scoreboard after the final whistle. Now I had already seen a circus, but wait, another brilliant, just brilliant piece of planning by them up high. Pay to watch the first team train!! Excuse me, we can pay £1 to watch them train on Thursdays, 10.30 am to 12.30 am. Words (probably a good thing as I struggle to keep this clean) escape me. Prior to yesterday I thought nothing could ever get so bad that I was totally embarrassed to support this club, but this, added onto what surely must go down as our worst display ever - please, someone tell me it was April 1st on Saturday.
  7. I don''t know what LQ has said, or indeed anyone else, maybe I missed it, but sorry, until I actually hear Delia herself say someone else is in charge and makes all the decisions, then sorry Butler, I assume she and Michael and the 60% odd shareholding is. Without knowing too much about the new board members, I think yesterday is something which we have to pin on those who have been here a little longer than a matter of weeks. Frankly it''s as if the summer never happened. Gunn is still there, Delia is still there, the only changes have been one set of players have been replaced by more of the same. Pinky and Perky, God, it''s far more serious than that, it''s the English version of the Muppet Show. However, I eagerly await some sort of board statement regarding yesterday''s fiasco.
  8. Butler, it''s taken some time, but this time it has to be the main culprits. Manager after manager, player after player, only one constant in all this failure. The majority shareholder(s).
  9. Butler, you know me, a more compassionate and forgiving person you couldn''t hope to find, BUT We are talking about professional footballers (well so we were led to believe). Not all of them were new, what excuses can Drury, Doc and Semmy have? Is it that they can''t take the fact they helped relegate us last season? As for the new boys, well, what can you say. - personally I am sure some of them will go on to be adequate players. Some at least were before coming to Fortress (formerly) Carrow Road. Even Chris Martin has played in front of the same size crowd against quality teams. Only Wes, Cody and young Tom Adeyemi emerge with any credit from the game. Especially Cody, why we have to ask was he not on from the start? And after half time, why did Gunn wait ten minutes before bringing on any subs? Let''s face it, he was found out last season as being completely unable to manage the team and is only in the job because Delia and Michael think he and the Ian deserve it. What the whole squad need now is someone to get them motivated. It should be down to them, but lets'' face it, neither playing in front of a full house or for our shirt was enough. They had no game plan and after the first sign of pressure folded like playing cards. Where was Gunn or his coaches? What did they say at half time? What indeed did they say pre match? You are right, we badly need someone like Flem on the pitch and haven''t had anyone of that stature since, well Fleming. But most of all we need an experienced PROVEN (capitals just for you, Delia) manager who can get us out of this mess. Though God only knows who would be mad enough to take NCFC on at this time.
  10. Bob you are not alone in being ashamed. It''s a shame you were subjected to the views of those who were making it painful for you, but sadly the efforts, thoughts and utterances of fellow supporters paled into insignificance compared to the nightmare played out on the pitch. You can''t call it a match as that signifies two teams. There was one team, Colchester and eleven so called players in Norwich City colours. As I was at the opposite end to you (Lower Barclay) I can''t really recall anything out of order chanted towards the team or Gunn. The fact the crowd started singing the classic Gunn "no hair" song after about 5 minutes and the words stuck in my throat. Vivid recollections of Charlton came back and I couldn''t sing it, and probably never will again. There were plenty of expletives used, and there always are, it''s a football match and even in family areas you are going to get people mouthing off, it''s the nature of the beast. During matches where we are losing we get boos, name calling etc. Yesterday was something else. We lost 7-1 at home in a league we haven''t been in for 50 years. I am sorry but I think the crowd, considering the circumstances behaved well. You state this is a new Norwich City. No, it''s not, it''s the same NCFC we have had for the past 5 or so seasons, a team who are lacking in determination, team spirit and guile, coupled with a manager who can''t motivate them and a team on the pitch without a reliable and upbeat captain to sort them out. Looking further up the food chain we are still owned by someone who gave Gunn, Butterworth and Crook the job because "they deserved it". That''s right, rewarding failure and just crossing fingers and hoping for the best. The players may well get better, but not under those conditions. IF they can''t react to putting on a good performance on the first day of the season, react positively to a full house then they should not be professional footballers. Patience and faith. For those of us who have been here since the start of Delia''s reign, the patience is wearing thin. The faith went years ago. Yes it was a wake up call, but ask yourself, just who needs to be woken up.
  11. Okay, it probably shouldn''t have happened but can you really blame them Jas? All of us have feelings and there is a point where we all snap and say enough is enough. What surprised me is how well behaved city fans were yesterday considering the circumstances. To be honest with you if I were 20 years younger and sat in the City Stand I would have done the same. As you say the Crewe occasion we were invited, but yesterday was a spur of the moment decision by two fans who simply couldn''t take anymore. They may or may not be banned. Who can tell what the final outcome is. But I can guarantee they will have made their point to the management and the board. On that alone, they should be applauded.
  12. Smithy, didn''t know about this (haven''t had time to keep up with much lately), can you fill us all in with what''s said at the Capitals'' meeting? I am sure many posters would like the opportunity to learn just what is said at that event.
  13. Well, we certainly got a match to remember for all the wrong reasons. All I can say (without being banned forever from Archant boards) is that yesterday was just a prime example of just how far our club has fallen and the folly of letting someone have complete control of something and where it can lead. I feel completely powerless - I guess we all do. What else can we do? We can have meetings, we can protest outside the ground, but ultimately it doesn’t seem to register with the two people who can effect change. As long as NCFC can attract sell out crowds nothing will change. We change managers, what happens - only further debt, humiliation and descending the football leagues bit by bit. We change people on the board. Will the new personnel make a difference? We can but hope that they do. Personally I would like the new CE and the other two to INSIST on an emergency meeting for the board to decide once and for all just who is capable of taking our club to some sort of stability. Delia has had her day - for some she should never have had the chance to influence any sort of decision making. The past five years or so we have paid the price over and over again for it. All intention now must be on finding not only investment to buy her out, but to also seek out the truth about whether she REALLY wants to sell. We can all see what is happening on the pitch, it doesn’t take a football genius to realise it’s a mess. A complete and utter shambles. But, sadly until Delia and Michael can accept they will not get back what they put in (unless they make a truly concerted effort to find BUYERS) we will lurch from one crisis to the next. And finally, I am angry, not just disappointed. Not with the performance yesterday, but with the quote of the year (for me). Delia thought Bryan Gunn should be manager because “he deserved it”. Sorry Delia, he does not, and not one person associated with our once great club deserved yesterday. We deserve people at NCFC who know what they are doing and can rebuild the club from top to bottom.
  14. Fonejacker - best for atmosphere, go for Lower Barclay E block, preferably towards the back of the stand where you will be able to remain standing, or the Snakepit. I occasionally watch from the South Stand (reserves) and it''s a good view but there is NO atmosphere apart from goal action during a first team game. IF you want to sing, stay in the L Barclay or Snakepit. Pubs, depends on what you want. Traditional pubs, best pre match is Coach and Horses on Thorpe Rd (opposite the Post Office sorting office), if you fancy a bit more of a trek, the Jubilee on Leonards Rd (just off Rosary Rd) or in the city centre itself try the Murderers''. Someone else had suggested the Cricketers'' - also on the same Queens'' Rd is the Rose (well recommended) and just off there on City Road is the King''s Arms, also well recommended. If you prefer bars there are numerous choices on Riverside. Enjoy your trip to Carrow Road.
  15. Nice to read a post from you again Mystic. I can relate with some of what you say, but despite some fans'' delight in a Doncaster free zone, I can''t help feel that though he did contribute to some of our more memorable "bad times" he was ultimately an employee with someone higher up pulling his strings. That being the case, we will all have to hope (another big in word with the board) that the new personnel have greater quality in all areas which will in turn help to turn the club around. But for me the same regime still holds top spot, and unless (or until) it''s obvious there has been a massive overall change in their thinking - and more importantly their actions, I really can''t see myself warming to much that happens off the pitch. Investment, ah yes. How hard that vital ingredient was worked for and sourced we will never know. If Notts County can attract the likes of Sven, then what about us? Who is working to bring NCFC to the attention of those who can build us up again to something like the force we were in the 80s and 90s? Delia and Michael I am afraid were totally responsible for the way Doncaster worked while he was at NCFC and sadly it will take a good number of years before we are back to anything like the good old Norwich City of old, both on and off the pitch. The happy clappy element is just a symptom. We need to address the causes for our demise. No, it''s not the fans, and ultimately its not even the managers or players. It''s the whole ethos of Delia and Michael''s Norwich City Football Club, and until that changes I will have to remain on the outside of the acceptance club.
  16. Butler, spot on as far as I am concerned. Sadly I don''t have the time at the moment to log on here too much but always look out for your well reasoned posts. However hard I try I can''t get excited about much at the club now. I realise my expectations for NCFC are probably not in line with those of most fans, but wanting to be like everyone else was never an issue for me. Success (however you would describe that) at this level is NOT good enough for me and never will be. Like you, I will, as ever, give the team my support, but the support stops there. Hope to catch up with you at some point during the season!
  17. With respect to Pete, what else can he say? Surely no one expects him to put his career on the line by saying anything controversial at all, whatever he privately thinks. Trying to look at this objectively, I can''t see why the MD of Archant was appointed. He brings no money to the table. Does the business of running a newspaper and its many spin offs contribute to helping running our football club? For that answer we have to wait and see what Mr Phillips does do. I am sure the board or Mr Phillips will say that there is much mutual benefit. Again, we must wait and see. His editors obviously have some degree of freedom. However, as NCFC is only a part of their paper I wonder really just how much more attention will be paid to the club, given we have now occupy a very low rung of the football ladder. Of more concern to me is whether the editors and management of Archant will actually change their stance at all regarding how often their staff writers openly criticise the club or how many letters they might publish from readers who want to express their views. We all know that certain columnists will criticise the club but what about the reporters asking searching questions of the manager and board. As Say Hello to the Angles has said above, the board of directors needs to be not only cross examined but watched very closely from now on on a number of fronts. We can''t sadly change the past, but we can start to ask some pertinent questions when the need arises. If Archant are now seen to be even more unwilling to do this, surely any bile will be directed now at the MD. Do we turn to Radio Norfolk now then as our independent media source?
  18. Well done Nutty. I will of course be up for entering the same guesses this season!! Unless you are desperate, don''t ask me to pick them on anyone else''s behalf though!!
  19. Hi Beau, like you I haven''t had the time to post much either and am a bit behind the times regarding the latest news, but like you can''t see much has changed. We have the same manager, appointed it seems because he was there (and in the opinion of Delia, because he deserved it). The board has expanded, but no new money as yet. While the new board members may have serious business credentials (and I am pleased to see at last we have some on board) Delia and Michael still hold majority shareholdings, so what really has changed. It''s still their toy and still their say so. I am seriously worried re the possible conflicts of interest appointing the MD of the local newspaper onto the board of the local football club. New players. Well history tells us we don''t do much this time of year. We are giving players trials and have made couple of signings. I am willing to wait until a few league games have been played to make my mind up there. But we continue to be shunned/outbid by our rivals in the same league which doesn''t hold out much hope for either August dealings or indeed later on in January. As for the rebate. Well it went pretty much as suspected. Did anyone really know many ST holders who did leave their money with the club? We all had our reasons for our decision, as discussed at the time, but the size of the budget the manager does have doesn''t worry me as much as how it will be used. I am yet to be convinced that Bryan Gunn and his coaching staff can take our club forward. Hopefully they will, but I a remain to date a sceptic. Cynically yes, we could think the money may be used elsewhere. I will take them at their word that it will be used for new players. It all depends on who we can get/wants to come here. Added to the rebate kitty we assume is money from the sales of players going out. Has this been confirmed by anyone at the club? The need for a striker is our perennial problem. We haven''t had a decent one for years. We are unlikely to get a great one now, so have to hope we can discover one (Cody?) or one of our youngsters can move up a few gears. Personally I am worried about the ''culture shock'' of being in the Third Division as far as the players go. The difference for them in terms of style, pace, etc. To say nothing about standards of referring. If we are in the bottom half of the league come October I will be worried. Just like last year. So, yes a feeling of unease is there Beau. And to be honest, until things really change at boardroom level, that feeling is going to stay.
  20. Depends how they count them. Amongst the 18,000 odd are a large number of families, so presumably one person will be applying on their behalf and we are not talking a lot of money when it comes to under 12s are we? So if we count all families as one ST holder I would say around 70% will claim the rebate. If it''s higher than that the board will have to come out and make some sort of statement and clarify their plans for next season and confirm WHO is going to be appointed to the board and also clarify WHO actually has left. And to Nutty, no, sadly I don''t believe much they say anymore. All trust in the board has gone.
  21. Nutty Yes, we are part of NCFC''s failure in part, just as we are part of the failure of this country''s government, and anything else you care to think about, but that''s hardly the point. Neither of us make decisions at NCFC, we suffer them (or in the brief periods of success) we celebrate them. Failure or success isn''t the reason I renewed. I renewed because it''s my club. As it''s yours and every other city fan''s. It''s sometimes difficult to remember this when we are run by a bunch of incompetent people (now numbering just three). I wouldn''t say the ''happy clappy'' forums were put on for any other reason than for fans to meet the guests and ask questions. The context and feel of each forum relied heavily on who the guests were and what position we were in at that time. I have been to most of them and can''t say I ever ''welcomed'' the likes of Doncaster. The Roeder one certainly not - his first words were to question the press presence. He was also late and made no apology. Disillusioned. Indeed, for a number of years, didn''t start last season. We had the Worthy Out meeting a few years ago (the one you didn''t attend!) where there were many similarly disillusioned fans. But this season (and last) have been worse, as the attention has moved on, past the manager (who usually cops for the blame) onto the board, such is the height of this disillusionment. How do we get back to being happy with our club? Success on the pitch Nutty. How do we achieve that? Apart from a Roy of the Rovers fairy tale, when Gunn buys in 10 great players for less than a million, we have to make major changes and only 3 people can start the ball rolling. As for NCISA''s events next season, I can''t comment, we will have to see. Again it depends on who is at the club to attend such an event. Can''t see one with the current manager happening anytime soon really, can you?
  22. Nutty, I didn''t say people go to Morrisons as a form of protest, rather because the standard is better and the price is cheaper. If we are given a choice, we sample all there is to offer and then make our choice based on what we want, price, quality or whatever. The facts that the drinks/food at CR is cheaper than other grounds though doesn''t matter Nutty, it''s what''s available on a matchday that counts and if you can be bothered to walk across the road you will find endless choice at Morrisons. Fans turning to NCISA now and asking for independence? Think this has been going on for some time to be honest. However it''s difficult for me to have an objective opinion on this as I am both a member and a committee member. A few years back NCISA were regarded as being too cosy with the club. Some probably think we still are. Again, all based on very personal opinions. Being part of failure? Not for me, I want NCISA to be stand up and say what their members are thinking, to represent them. I have not felt part of our club for a long time, certainly long before this season. Long before Roeder too, though he certainly did much to galvanise me into accepting the club was indeed tearing itself apart. Failure though has been endemic for many years. From the top down. Is the committee in a difficult place. Depends again on who is stating that fact. IF all NCISA members told us in no uncertain terms we were not representing their views then, yes I would accept that we were. IF a significant number did, yes we would be concerned. In the recent past we have held a forum with Munby and Doncaster which was well attended and gave members a chance to ask questions. Then St Andrew''s Hall where fans had the chance to say their piece. There is a lot of anger out there Nutty, and not from the usual suspects. In the past month I have talked to a lot of people, some who I didn''t even realise were Norwich fans, including a very large proportion of ST holders. ALL of them are claiming the rebate and some of them had a lot to say on the issue. Yes, football is a strange game and like you say, all could come good next year. We just don''t know. Will fans still want to be independent. Again, all down to that word. Choice. I will, because at present the club doesn''t have a supporter group who I feel represents me. Maybe one of the new ideas from the board will be to form a supporter group? Who can tell? Happy clappy forums ? Yes well maybe they will come again. Can''t say I have been to one for many a long year, but will look out for them. Can we be all things to all men? No, impossible, until every single city fan is either brainwashed or we have ten years or more of success. You can decide which will happen first.
  23. USA Canary - the reason you might assume people are boycotting the catering areas of NCFC ( I have to assume you do travel to Norwich on occasions to witness this for yourself) is that there is a very cheap supermarket directly opposite the ground which (sadly for NCFC) does pies and other eatables better and cheaper. I know quite a few people who work in Morrisons, including a manager, and the profits soar on matchdays. What does this say to you? That all Norwich fans are boycotting the bars and food areas out of spite/because they disagree with anything to do with NCFC or is is simply the food and drink is better/cheaper and they are ''voting'' with their feet/wallets? I haven''t bought much inside the ground for years for this reason alone. £1.50 for a bottle of water in the ground, or 15p for a bottle of water in Morrsions. You do the maths! The only area NCFC do triumph over Morrisons in is alcohol as we are not permitted to bring alcohol into the ground. Therefore the bars are packed at half time. Beer is terrible though. Pubs around the ground also say that the matchday trade far exceeds any other day for them. Again, this is not anything to do with fans'' opinions on NCFC just having a beer at a pub or bar is preferable to that on offer inside the ground. As far as I know a boycott of merchandise from NCFC is not official policy with anyone.
  24. Minimum to expect. As promised, some changes at board level. I am not holding my breath, but hey, we were promised! Until we get changes in policy and philosophy it will just be more of the same old same old we have witnessed for the past few years. Doesn''t necessarily have to be personnel changes, but changes in thinking. Nothing has changed yet as far as I can see. Same old stuff churned out. Yes we have bigger crowds and a larger ST holder base than other clubs in the league (but we had that in the Championship and what good did it do us?). Same personnel same thinking - an average finish. Anything from 5-15th. Could be worse if Gunn carries on as he left off at Charlton. We have next to no players left, and pre season starts at the end of the month. What money we have for players is anyone''s guess. What that money gets spent on, again is down to the managerial team and on their showing last season I have no confidence in them turning things around. NCFC needs a radical shake up, starting in the boardroom. Only then will our fortunes change for the better.
  25. LQ, do excuse me for being dim, but what exactly is match related infrastructure? Can you mean, the pitch and the stands? Carrow Road used to be a football ground.
