I really cant understand why so many people seem so eager to write Crnac off after just 2 games, it's just ridiculous. Crnac is a young player who has been in the country for a fortnight and is at a new club, with new team mates, in a new league. I'd say in those 2 games he has shown some decent touches and certainly dont see how you can be dismissing him so soon. Genuine questions to those that have, honestly what did you think of Sargent after 2 games? or when he missed that sitter v brighton?
  2. 9 points
Why? Based on one cup game when he hasn't been in the country a week as was up against a defender valued at £65m?

I don't get the panic around Sargent leaving. As mentioned above Norwich have already turned down $20m for him, so clear they want him to stay and have put a big price on him. The only concrete interest is from the MLS and their transfer window has closed. Brentford have already replaced Toney, and have planned for Toney to leave all window so don't expect they have left themselves in a position of needing him to leave to get in a replacement. Even if they do want in an extra player should Toney leave, I highly doubt an injury prone, £20m+ Championship striker is who they will be targeting. Bournemouth signing Evanilson for £40m shows the kinds of markets mid-table Premier League clubs shop in these days. Pretty much any Prem team (apart from the 3 promoted ones) can just jump straight to the level above Sargent now.

Isn't the whole idea of trying to steal a march on your rivals basically about signing players that best fit your system, or identifying rough gems that need polishing? How many were really after Pukki and Buendia when we got them?

Norwich have been exceptionally good at getting deals done this summer. Cordoba, Schwartau and Forson all done very quickly. The club also managed to move on from Yildrim to Crnac in good time. Seems they have had a couple of set backs in the winger search, but I wouldn’t have them at the ‘scrabbling around’ phase yet. In the same way Norwich will finalise lots of U21 moves over the next 48 hours, I expect other clubs will also finalise who is allowed to leave and things will speed up rapidly. I’ve been pretty happy with every transfer so far and also with most of the linked players. Interested to see who comes in before the window closes and wouldn’t be surprised if it is a loan from a Prem team as a short term solution.

We've lost 25 goal contributions from Sara, and 14 from Rowe. That's nearly 40 goals we've lost. Crnac's best ever season is 8 goals. I like the business we've done so far but perhaps Knapper & Thorup should have dampened expectations rather than citing a target of play-offs. It's asking a lot from unfamiliar players from different leagues to hit the ground running, and for us to create enough under Thorup's style.

Crnac, who had two good well struck and on target chances saved by probably the best English goal keeper right now. Some people?

Statistically, I'd be surprised if we don't take a loan player from Chelsea. There is at least one per Championship club available, probably nearer 1.5 😂

Reminds me of Dave Allen and one skit attributed to him. DA: Do I like Irish jokes? I love Irish jokes, here's one. Paddy and Mick walk into a bar, the average IQ drops by half. Crowd: *applause* DA: I mean, you've gotta laugh at yourself on occasion, right? Crowd: *more applause, some cheering* DA: Now here's one, Paddy and Mick walk into a bar in London, the average IQ doubles! Crowd: *absolute silence* DA: Aw, come on, I thought we AGREED! 😄

PinkUn were definitely saying a winger to come in, JHT was always a bit more noncommittal on it - he stopped talking about the need for attackers after Schwartau arrived (I think). This signing pretty much killed the Reinier deal as well by the looks of things. Looks like Norwich haven’t been able to land their primary targets on the wing such as Matondo, so won’t add someone just for the sake of it. Forsyth has proven that he is good enough to provide competition so they have enough numbers in the wide positions. As soon as Norwich spent a large amount on Crnac, who had played a lot of football on the wing before coming to Norwich, it was clear he wouldn’t be just a back up to Sargent. Was personally surprised by the talk they might add another winger. Just one more midfielder seems about right, although even that will mean limited time for Gibbs.

Ok, I was bored at work today so I've written it: Goodbye Kenny McLean Though I never rated you at all You had the grace the stand and point While those around you toiled You stood out on the balcony Mad dog went to your brain They set a hat upon your head And "The Mayor" became your name And it seems to me that you spent your life Pointing in the wind Never knowing when to track back Or when to get stuck in And I would have liked to have sold you But I was just a fan Farkeball ended long before The pointing ever did

Is a joke based on someone's race , racist? Really? Have we completely lost the plot? because we are all ' county ' racists when it comes to Suffolk, or a certain part of it. Take it from me , the Irish love a smart Irish joke. It really isn't the words or the humour, it's the intent.

Hi guys, Just jumping in with a few bits that will hopefully help. In the first instance, please email nq-digital.subs@newsquest.co.uk with any issues you have. They are on hand to help resolves these. We are aware of a few of the issues you’ve mentioned. I will put some fixes that should help down below. Multiple sign ins Shortly after launching the app, an issue was spotted on Android devices after launch where the app was signing users out every 20 minutes. An update was released late last week to resolve this. If this has been an issue and applies to you - please make sure you have the latest edition of the app downloaded and, hopefully, this will help your problems. Restore subscription We're also aware of a similar issue with in-app subs not auto-linking on open on iOS which we're working on a fix for now. In the interim anyone experiencing this issue can just hit the Restore App Subscription link on the My Account or Subscribe screen to get back in. Password reset This is a new one on me. I will feed it back to the team and see if we can get it resolved. Again, drop the above address an email and hopefully they can resolve it. I can only apologise for the inconvenience. Connor

You’re claiming 2-0 to Oxford as being itk? Sums you up perfectly as that could not possibly be ‘known’ without you being part of a major fraud/match fixing scam.

Why is precisely WHY we can't sell him, only to be left with two players in Crnac and Schwartau who may need a year to bed in and get used to the league (and the pace of this league). It would be suicidal.

Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I was completely unaware they’re now seeding the clubs playing in Europe to keep them apart. Not only do they get a bye to the third round, they’re now given an easier game to reach the fourth by being unable to be drawn against each other. Every year I’m starting to hate football that little bit more, and the utter selfishness of the big clubs is largely the reason for it. Every rule change in the last 30 years has been to their benefit at the expense of everybody else. They scrapped the halving of gate receipts, got extra time scrapped in the league cup, have got replays scrapped in the FA cup, we now have hundreds of subs in a game which benefits those with larger squads, European competitions are forever expanding. They couldn’t even let the lower league clubs have the league trophy to themselves, they had to flood it with their under 21 teams. Utter greed! https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cd9de5kq7vlo

I think Doyle needs to be first choice in the centre at the back, looks very comfortable and absolute class there, not so much at left back

he is a big lad / looks fairly strong and can strike a ball i would be happy to see him on the bench some games , 3.48 he scores a free kick !! i know you should not get to excited over a highlight video but looks like he has great technique

Kinda why I was happy we didn’t go down the Dereham / King’s Lynn friendly route this Summer pre season. Yeah on one hand it’s great those grassroots clubs get the gate but equally they go for it and then you get unnecessary injuries to players. I recall we lost Pritchard when we played Cambridge in a friendly Farke’s first pre season because of a bad tackle.

Now now Hoggy, that's a tad disingenuous isn't it? Firstly you are comparing Goal Contributions to Goals, secondly, how many of the assists from Sara were for Rowe (or Rowe to Sara, but I think this number would be 0)? You are counting those goals twice. Finally (and admittedly a bit more tenuously), just becasue the player who got the assist has left doesn't mean that the player in his position wouldn't have made the telling contribution does it? Yes, we have lost the players responsible for a chunk of the goal contributions, but, that doesn't mean we have lost those goals...

That doesn't mean he's a centre forward though, and I think you're missing @Conrad's point. During his two matches so far he's been on the periphery of things but has shown glimpses that he's a decent player with good physical and technical qualities. I'm more than happy to give him the full season to settle and I believe he has the potential to be a very good player for us. But I agree with @Conrad . I don't think he's an out-and-out striker, and is more suited to playing on the shoulder of a centre forward, either wide or in behind.
  38. 2 points
Yes, but they have also said the replacements won't be like for like. Norwich aren't dropping around €10m on Crnac for him to be on the bench behind Sargent for 99% of the time like Idah was. The fact Crnac was straight into the team on the right, and then next game as a striker shows they see him for both roles. Another winger is needed for depth and also to push Sainz, who I'm not sure suits Thorup's style. A loan for Rabbi Matondo, who is primarily a left winger, shows that they might see that side of the pitch as the one that needs more strength.

Can’t believe I’m wasting time with an anonymous poster about a pointless observation about a signing we haven’t even made. I'm embarrassed to be honest . Let’s hope I have a more productive afternoon.

This partly why I think we are apparently stilll keen on Reinier, despite the Slimane interest.

Firstly as a coffin dodger i have 24 hours a day spare time and secondly after the Scum defeat last night to the Mighty Wombles for the first time in ages i thought i would see what the Scum fans had to say about it but thanks for your concern.

You actually mentioned the "lad from Sheffield" (Slimane) who is not a replacement for Rowe, but who Sheffield bought when they were promoted, because they believed he had PL potential. Thorup will be well aware of the abilities he displayed at Brondby. Don't forget, Buendia and Pukki were both players fans considered to be failures at their previous clubs. As for Rowe's replacement, I have no idea who they have previously earmarked as possible replacements, but what I am sure of is that the club will have done so for months (if not years). The evidence of the transfers brought in to date is that these players have been watched by the club for a very long time (see EDP reports). Not all transfers happen at the drop of a hat, indeed, very few do.

This thread keeps making me think of the opening to Candle in the Wind but "Kenny McLean" instead of "Norma Jeane." Then I get to the chorus and it becomes "pointing in the wind". When he finally does leave we should all sing a rousing rendition to see him off. I'll get working on the rest of the lyrics.

The key thing is that he's probably never going to be worth much of a profit to whoever buys at the price we will require. He doesn't represent an investment IMO which is why I'd rule Brentford out in particular- they will either get proven PL quality or someone with a tonne of potential + resale value. Sargent is neither.

Potentially the emergence of Forsyth has made them reconsider the need for another winger, if Kamara stays and is reintegrated into the team then Norwich have Hernandez, Sainz, Fassnacht, Crnac, Kamara and Forsyth. 6 players for two positions. I think JHT even mentioned the potential for Schwartau to play on the wing at somepoint.

At Norwich the toxicity is very often more between fans the anything. Between the ones willing to accept anything as long as we exist and the ones who want change and progress.
