All stems from a panic sacking last year.

He's popular in the dressing room. Mainly because he makes the rest look like professional footballers.

Thing is he's done nothing memorable for us since he came here. There's absolutely nothing in his credit account.

Just back from the game.. exiled North Lincs Canary. Disappointing result, obviously. Looks to me like we are still trying to play the same way we did under Farke, with the aim of feeding Pukki. Problem is, we lack the right players. I actually think the issue is ‘quarter back’ player who sits deep rather than a number 10. It’s too slow between the lines. Dowell and Cantwell probably have enough with that player behind. It doesn’t look like Nunez is that player, and it certainly isn’t McLean. It’s a Vrancic type, one Skipp carried out superbly as well. Anyway, Big Andy O. First time up close watching him. Don’t get the hype, looked slow and uncomfortable on the ball. Hanley’s distribution better. Possibly just a bit of rust after injury. Hull barely threatened, but got into us and fired the crowd up. Still, this should have been a routine win. We started well and should’ve got a goal up. In that heat, you really didn’t want to be chasing the game. Absolute comical goal for Hull. IMO, there looks to be enough there for a playoff push and we need to stay calm. Nunez is a right player. Tenacious and progressive, and will only get better. And what a goal. I want to see more of Gibbs, looks very good… and much less or Rashica - terrible. Ramsey showed some good touches and positional awareness.. encouraging. Sargent, bar winning the free kick for the goal, showed little. I said in the match thread, I’m scratching my head as to how we lost again. But equally, there were a couple of awful periods. I thought Smith made good use of subs which got us on top for the final 20 and really should’ve earn’t a point. But it didn’t, and perhaps actually his team selection to start with should’ve been better, and probably included Gibbs. Smith has to find the key to unlock this squad and quick. I feel the (assumed) joint decision with Webber to build around the key players of the last 2-3 years could prove to be his undoing. This is a proper relegation hangover. Too many players with baggage who don’t look up for it. Pukki is a huge worry in that regard.. the body language from him, Hanley and Aarons after Hulls second was telling. To finish on a positive, Nunez looks to be the next player we’ll be lucky to witness in a Norwich shirt. A joy to watch and MOM.

No idea how people are blaming Dean Smith for Max booting the ball at our own player two yards in the box. The setup and selection of the side has been correct and we've been much the better side.

For whatever reason, I’m clinging onto the next two games to see two wins and kick start our season. I’m definitely a fence sitter (sorry Buh) but purely based on a few little factors that raise questions for me. Nunez to me looks good, I have seen the green shoots of some positivity (Gibbs basically) and we have been a tad unlucky with our injuries yet again BUT it’s just not happening fast enough and after over half a season, a pre season and three very winnable games not won I am losing that optimism and hanging over towards the ‘Smith out’ side of the fence. Come Friday I’ll have made my mind uk whether to get behind him fully or get behind the call to replace him fully. It’s earlier than I would usually commit but it does boil down to identity for me and it’s a cliche but I don’t see one really yet. Teams don’t fear us, they should and we should be better than we are.

I've seen nothing from Smith to suggest he can raise the level of our players. Farke was incredible at it. How is Smith a step forwards whatsoever? We wasted so much money sacking Farke for effectively no reason. We've gone backwards
  9. 5 points
We should never have sacked Farke and anyone on here who was glad we did, when we did, let this be a lesson to you

I've moved on, but it's nice to remind the idiots that wanted him gone just how much damage their stupid tantrums did.

Hands up ... I'm a big Webber fan still! I admire his long term thinking and bullish focus. He's making us a far stronger club from the roots up and I find it amusing that, for some reason, he isn't allowed to make an error of judgement when the rest us are. We'll miss him hugely when he's gone.

How has it got quite this dreadful??? Cardiff last season 17th Hull 19th Wigan League 1 Mug swilling clown out!!!!
  13. 4 points
Well, firstly we blew all money from the sale of Buendia on adding squad depth instead of bringing in 2 or 3 Premier League ready/quality players to replace the outgoing Emi and Skipp. Then we decided it wasn't Webber's poor recruitment that was the problem, no, it was the helpless manager who had a bigger hole in his midfield armoury than the sinking Titanic. We then clearly didn't get our first choices of manager so having sacked Farke, killing the intertwined relationship between the team and the fans we panic signed a recently sacked Premier League manager who had managed to spectacularly underachieve at a team that had spent absolute millions on the summer recruitment of top talent. We have then proceeded to become a completely soulless, tactically inept and disengaged team that cannot score and cannot defend. So yeah, that pretty much sums it up I think.

You ruthless little turd. Redeem yourself by making the bold decision to sack Dean Smith within the next few weeks (get your replacement lined up first this time), appoint somebody on the up, a progressive young manager with some balls who can command a dressing room and motivate a group, and I reckon you can get fans back on side, your position might feel untenable right now but in reality football fans are fickle. We all know, including you, that Dean Smith isn't working out for whatever reason. We know you won't ever admit on camera that it was a bad appointment. That's fine. Just sack him and we'll accept that as your admission that you got this one wrong. We all make mistakes. Admittedly you've made quite a few over the past year or so, but lets say you blow hot and cold, you're a 'form Sporting Director'. You might be a kn-ob but you are our kn-ob for the time being, you've made a couple of good signings this summer now appoint a manager who knows how to use them, if you want to f*ck off in a year then go for it matey, but how about we try and finish on a high? Three step plan: 1. Sack Dean Smith. Come on, he's never coming good, he stands there like a rabbit caught in the headlights or supping a cup of tea. Lets be frank, he hasn't got a clue has he. You know your stuff, you can see this can't you? 2. Get the next appointment right. Take a punt on a German if you like. 3. Be as cocky and arrogant as you like once we're winning games, we'll take it if the sexy football matches the ego Thanks.

Questions and concerns about Smith are absolutely valid. We've got two home games in the next week, and if they don't go well then the fans aren't likely to sit on their hands and mumble. I'd rather we'd have stuck with Farke than appointed Smith, personally, but we are where we are. If Smith goes, then appointing Dyche would be utter suicide for everything we've built in the past five years. If Smith goes we need to move back towards the style that Farke gave us, not further away from it.

A dinosaur unfortunately. Decent players are regressing under his and Smith's methods.

Maybe it's time to stop trying to make all our players fit in with Pukki. He can't be the main man forever. I already feel bad for this suggestion...

main issues 1) poor appointment after Farke. We needed a progressive manager on the up not a tired old school coach licking his wounds after being sacked by his boyhood team. 2) complacently relying on an ageing striker and not signing quality back up 3) selling Buendia and losing Skipp and not replacing them adequately. Nunez may well be the answer - but far, far too late 4) making McLean undroppable. He points and does nothing else

My main issue with Smith, is he doesn’t seem to have any luck. And my main issue with an unlucky person is luck is usually just a collection of the intangibles coming together to affect things, not some superstitious force. I understand all the context for where we are but the guy couldn’t buy points right now. How we capitulated today was beyond poor, should have had the game mostly done and dusted in the first 20 mins and we walk away with nothing. I still think there’s no way we would or should get rid of him so early into a rebuild. But this is a really big week for him, can’t deny that.

Really disappointing result. But, in Nunez, it looks like we may have one of the players of the Championship on our hands and should build a team around him accordingly.

If you criticise the right things, no problem. If someone could tell me what's wrong with the way DS has coached and set-up the team for today, I'm all ears. I'm not even a massive DS fan, I didn't understand the initial appointment and you can go back and see that in my posting history. But he's set us up to attack, we've limited them to long-range, speculative attempts bar the one defensive catastrophe which happens to all teams, including us under Farke. We've not taken our chances, that we've created more and much better opportunities of than our opponent, away from home.

Better sides actually score goals when it matters and do not give away easy goals. Better sides are not such predictable losers. Better sides actually win games. If we are the better side today, we will go on to win this. How confident are you of this happening now?
