Good video and it seems Stuart Webber hasn’t just been spending his time “up mountains” as suggested on here. He seems to have been a very busy boy.

An unproven kid that no sod has heard of from a poor league..... Right up our street, is he injured too?...... 😏

You mean the pundits who pick 2 relegated sides to go back up every year because it’s the easiest thing to do and lazy journalism? Personally, I feel we are one Pukki injury away from disaster and the squad doesn’t have enough goals in it but we should at least make the top 6 in my opinion, but we don’t have enough quality for top 2, although in truth I’m not sure who does as this league always seems to deliver surprises, I mean how many people tipped Forest to go up or Huddersfield to make the play offs last season?

That's was a good watch , a damn sight more entertaining than watching a Southgate team.😬cmon you lionesses
  6. 3 points
The Lionesses showed real intensity and desire in this game tonight (and in the Spain game), I’d love to see that in the mens team instead on the insipid ‘must not lose’ attitude under Southgate.

Why does the women's game need to continually be compared with men's (if that is what you're inferring, as you don't actually say so). As you say, its entertaining, so just give it a rest (EVERYONE) and enjoy. And did you not see Almunia and Gomes play?

Even though I thought Sunak at least understood the pros and cons of any policy, the elephant in the room was Brexit and the damage it's doing to our envelope for economic growth. It was fun when both said Brexit wasn't to blame for the Channel fiasco this weekend when everybody else says it is. I guess neither can be called honest as to really telling the unpalatable truth. Such is the Tory party today and its articles of faith. We obviously have a cost of living crisis but oddly we also have labour shortages (as exemplified by enormous shortages in the NHS yesterday). Stimulating the economy when you have labour shortages and pressure already on wages is simply a recipe for runaway inflation. Very obviously Sunak is getting exasperated with Truss who is trashing any notion that the Tories are the party of economic competence. Meanwhile SKS shrewdly refrains from promising to re-nationalize some industries (rail is falling back to the govt. anyway) - It would cost billions but from where at present ? It's ever more clear where the true economic competence lies these days.

Because that worked so well with Naismith? and why on earth did we buy Buendia and Pukki...never heard of either of them -bit part players in minor leagues and Pukki couldnt even make it at Celtic...total waste of money 😉

I think comments on here are a bit negative about the scheme. Shocker for this forum. I normally make most games but last season for a host of reasons I missed a few. My seat in the south stand only failed to sell once. Last season the system changed so you could ask for the money to be refunded to your credit card, a big step up from only being able to use for club purchases and maybe even only tickets. So a positive experience of this scheme last season. Will seats sell this season? Probably will depend on our form. In the premier league seats will sell because casuals will want to see a top tier game. In the Championship when away allocations are not fully taken and there are more casual seats available, then I think resales will depend on whether or not the team are pushing for promotion.

I thoroughly enjoyed it all. No fear (Southgate take note) and players running at the opposition who to be fair made it a smashing game. The fans made it a fabulous night and its just what summer evening football should be. Well played Lauren. Lets hope Milot can imitate you on Saturday and run the fullback into oblivion.

Although to be fair most people on here seem to hold the view that you are a t w @ t, you’re the only person disputing it 😉

It has for me, and I limit myself only to YouTube and the HYS on the beeb. The vitriol just on those two platforms, ‘go down and stay down’, ‘waste of space, don’t deserve a place in the EPL’ etc., made a disappointing season positively miserable. I’ve perked up a bit but it’s ridiculous that a part of me doesn’t want to see us get promoted again. I mean, I’m awfully proud of my city, and my club, and it’s painful to read such rubbish. Unfortunately it’s difficult to distance yourself entirely from it.

Isn’t this when we usually do well? It’s when we actually spend decent money we usually get it woefully wrong.

Yes WBB. I have no problem with normal 'Tory' policies of independence and self help - but I also see a role for the state to help those that need it and to do things that only the state can do - defense and those 'natural' monopolies. The NHS (a 'left' idea) nobody seriously questions. What I can't abide is those that can't call a spade a spade and be honest about it. Until such time as we can honestly debate the failings in our economy then we cant 'fix' them. Putting up needless barriers to our largest nearest export markets (and as you note emptying the NHS of our EU workers) is clearly one of them!

That has largely always been my position. I don't begrudge people streaming games they can't otherwise view but if you choose to stream them illegally when you have a legal option, you can't complain about the club's finances.

I don't think Sargent is anywhere near as bad as you are trying to make out, the main problem was that he was a square peg in a round hole. A Sean Dyche player signed for the team of a poundshop Pep. I suspect we'll work out Huddersfield fans weren't too fussed about keeping Sinani in the near future, because he blows hot and cold, and Sargent will end up nailing that wide right spot. Completely the wrong signing, so was Tsoliz, in a year where we needed to try and stay in the top tier. That's on Webber. He'll do well in the Championship. I'm willing to bet £10 (for Nutty Nigels thingy bob) that he registers at least 12 goal contributions this season (that's goals and assists, e.g. 6 goals and 6 assists) if he doesn't leave in either this window or the January window. Prepared to take that bet?

There are two worries on the Pukki front...who will provide the service and what in God's name will we do if he picks up a serious injury?!
  33. 2 points
Very reliant on Pukki. Farkeball well suited to Championship. Prem lite football not special in the Championship. Though a better version of it might keep you up a year. Buendia a rare gem. No obvious difference-makers now. Buendia plus Pukki gold dust. Everybody else looked and felt better as a consequence. At least somebody will play the Skipp role this year. That facilitates everything else. Squad is deep, though not special. Asking players to ‘go again’ when they know - deep in their hearts - that the premier goal that they are asked to chase won’t include them next time is a tough sell… We have proved we come up top level short. Most have proved they are not good enough. A massive overhaul is not financially viable. Better players than others have are nice, though weapons remain key. It’s all on Pukki really. Smith has quite a tough job - and he’s a bit of a mercenary journeyman (which is football normal). Farke somehow wasn’t and we knew it. So did the players. The club failed at the top level. The recruitment failed at the top level. The finances failed at the top level. So what does Smith now sell them differently that sticks? A disappointing 8th. Or anything up to 1st if Pukki stays (fit and not-just-world-cup keen). I’ll pay £5 to Rays Funds for every place Norwich finish above that… @nutty nigel 👍🏽✨ Parma

I confess that was the first women's match I've watched from start to finish and I really enjoyed it. As someone else has said, comparisons to the men's game are pointless but ignoring everything else they are tremendous athletes who were still sprinting at the end - I'd love to see their running stats. The ref was still carp though! Good to watch a game with no macho stuff or cheating going on tbh.

If this comes off and the new shareholders are a good fit and improve the club and ultimately the 1st team then, yes they will have done a great job. Fingers crossed that is the case.

They caught my eye in the fan hub in the city centre when I went in to buy my away shirt... £45 a pop, though, if memory serves, so I couldn't justify getting both.

That's all you ever put, people are missing the point. Do explain, couldn't care less if you are closet brentford fan, the facts are he had 3 seasons after taking over a playoff team ( also bringing in 18 players one preseason) to match or dare I say improve, he didn't, the next manager did, its quite simple. To comment on your edit, first of all, you appear to be quite an angry individual! Secondly, I believe villa needed to make a steady appointment (in the fans eyes!!) at the time with Smith being a villa man, had they have gone for his assistant they probably wouldn't of had to spend quite so much!!

The superficial factors have us in the top two:- The fact that relegated sides are always strong promotion candidates because their squads are riddled with Premier League experienced players ... if not always Premier League level players! The fact that we have parachute money to rely upon. The fact that we supposedly have good strength in depth at Championship level. The fact that we have a proven c. 30 goals a season Chumps striker in our ranks, along with quite a few other quite costly recruits. The fact that we can readily(?) fork out up to £12m for a young Brazilian starlet to re-enforce the ranks. However, reading between the lines: It has yet to be proven that Dean Smith is a good fit for the club. An itsy-bitsy pre-season has failed to reveal any style or pattern to our play. A super yacht adrift and rudderless? We are very reliant upon previous flops like the Sarge, Rashica suddenly coming good at the lower level, youngsters blossoming and Cantwell continuing his renaissance. We seem to be willing to take a big risk in the vital striker department by being over reliant upon a 31 years old being capable of repeating past achievements, let alone lasting a tough season unscathed. With the likes of Hugill, Sinani and Hernadez suddenly prominent in selections, we seem to have taken not one, but two steps backwards, in as much as they are all players we have previously shown a willingness to unload. Cautious (very) optimism is the order of my day. This lot is very capable of catching a cold. Even that very first game could reveal inadequacies in our (lack of) Summer's dealings, irrespective of the fact that our two (yes, just two) acquisitions since the last Summer window shut are not ready for the opener.

Kone’s form may well be decent in the MLS but the Championship is a different beast altogether. One for the future and does MLS exp translate to English football?
