I think the rules amongst the hard-line fantasists are pretty clear actually Purple. There are 3 that I am aware of: 1. You must not doubt or deny that there is a long queue of billionaires fighting with each other to spend squillions and squillions on us if only the socialist cook would let them. 2. You must not doubt or deny that a change of owner automatically brings success or that all potential owners have nothing but good intentions. Any new player that we bought would be brilliant and we would not waste a penny under new owners. To even question what you would want from a new owner is to "look a gift horse in the mouth." 3. You must not doubt or deny that all other clubs are better run than City - they never buy bad players, charge less, have better facilities and treat the fans better. To break any of the above means that you a) lack ambition and b) are "an apologist." 🤮🤮🤮 The good news is that there is treatment for the condition but it does involve complicated surgery to remove parts of the frontal cortex of the brain. 😇

See the thing is, I don't benefit from any of this charade of a sport. I don't care if we're in the PL. In fact my experience at matches gets worse every year we are up there. The trade off of football for TV is that it spoils football for supporters in the ground. I accept that some who go to games see it differently but I don't see any advantage to me for our club being in the PL or being owned by a state or whatever. I'm not interested in the reflected glory of other people's money or fawning over the TV superstar players of the top clubs. I just go to support my team. I love it when we win and am disappointed when we lose. As a supporter in the stadium I believe I can help achieve a result. Now I accept that the richest owner is more help so if a club is state owned us legacy supporters don't really have any value in comparison. I like the fact that my season ticket comes with a fixture list. But then it becomes useless well before the season starts as so many games are moved for the armchair brigade. VAR obviously improves the armchair experience but spoils the supporter experience to an unacceptable degree The cameraman stands in front of me to give the armchair brigade my view when they need it. So I guess I'm part of a dying breed. Soon everyone will be a spectator fawning over the TV made superstars and seeing them in the flesh will be the only reason to go. I'll keep going though. Eventually they might even feature me on Sky TV as a crazy old legacy fan who still believes support matters more than other people's money.

Normally I hate international breaks and really miss watching City play. I can honestly say for the first time in 45 years of supporting Norwich, it’s not been the case this time around. It’s been a relief not having to witness another sorry performance and yet another defeat. I’ve enjoyed the sunshine, the outdoors and family time and felt far happier for it. Like others have mentioned before the love of football and perhaps (I never ever thought I would say this) NCFC is dwindling.

I would add a few. 4) The club has to be declared as being for sale because never in the history of capitalism has someone made an offer for a company that hadn't been put on the market. 5) Planning to leave the club to a relative is an unparalleled disgrace because never in the history of capitalism has that ever happened. 6) Tom Smith must be useless as a potential owner despite it being apparent (certainly based on the absence of information or insight from posts here) that fans have little or no idea of his capabilities or possible lack of them.

Deehan was always severely underrated by many Yellows. Some of this was was because he willingly stepped into Walkers shoes after the latter resigned and a section of fans regarded him as a 'Chase stooge'. The other reason (of course) was that he had the audacity to join ITFC in the swop deal with Trevor Putney! If those Yellows could lose that blinkered view, they would acknowledge an outstanding player who from the very first time I saw him, played with 'his head up' thus giving himself more time on the ball than your average bustling striker. His movement and awareness were on a par with Pukki and he was vastly superior in the air (not difficult of course!). His goal stats are not at Pukki's level who was / is (arguably) a more 'natural' goalscorer. Not only was Deehan a top class footballer but his much recognised coaching skills in his partnership with Walker in that glorious season and a half, set him right up there as a true NCFC 'legend'. So sad to hear of his struggles against that terrible illness.

Thanks Kirku. You seem to me one of the more balanced posters and whereas I can see how we can all get dragged into nonsensical arguments where we get misquoted or idly misunderstood by accident I commend your admission that perhaps you were yourself guilty today. I myself have on occasion snapped at posters who can't grasp shades of grey as opposed to binary solutions. Most posters even when I disagree with them often have a kernel of truth or insight in their argument even if disguised or poorly made. Nobody on here wants the war in Ukraine to continue but its a question to me it seems of choosing the least worse option.

    1) Have you got anything to back up any of your opinions? 2) Putin's goals were predicated on a quick victory in Ukraine. If Ukrainian defence, and western arms and sanctions, have altered that calculus then that can be seen as a positive thing as it lessens the chances of a wider conflict. The Russian military has been degraded and its effectiveness exposed as weaker than many analysts predicted prior to the war. This again contradicts the logical conclusions of your appeasement strategy, wherein Putin is emboldened and the Russian military unscathed. However, it is extremely unlikely that Russia will climb down significantly or withdraw - it simply is not a viable position politically or culturally.

Firstly, no Russian astronaut has ever landed on the moon - where on earth did you get this? What an absurd thing to say. Secondly, neither of these points has anything to do with their ability to "re-arm with efficiency". You might as well have quoted us the recent CSKA Moscow results, for all the relevance of that.

And their remaining, totally scrupulous and not at all dodgy, owner has pumped in almost £700m!!!! I'm so close to being done with football that this is what the premiership has come to and everyone says that it's "the promised land"™ and we should do everything we can to get there and 'establisg' ourselves. If that is what it takes then **** that, I'm out...

Interesting that you describe it as a "military incursion" rather than an invasion of a sovereign country by over 180,000 troops with the intention to overthrow the Ukrainian government. The build up of masses of Russian forces on the border of Ukraine from North to South was evident on 13th Feb, do you now accept that you were totally wrong to say, "I find that the acceptance of hearsay by amplifying it by the hundredfold has got nothing to do with facts or truth. Enjoy your sunday, according to the US the Russians are about to invade, because the US says so."? Surely you can't deny that the US intelligence was spot on, because that is precisely what happened. It also strikes me as very bizarre to describe Putin's actions as "making mistakes". What he has done he did with clear intention, these are not mistakes he made but illegal acts of war and war crimes. I guess you will want to take back this statement too, "Putin is far too wily to be goaded into a war with Ukraine, most of Ukrains populations believes Russians to be their brothers, they do not want war either."? No one would suggest you take anyone's word as "gospel" in a situation like this. However, I really don't understand why you have decided that Putin is to be trusted above all others. The man is a violent kleptocratic dictator who has brutally supressed the free speech that you rightly have claimed in the past is crucial to a democratic society. I completely get that you are motivated to expose the ways in which the "establishment" corrupts aspects of political life in the West that undermine its claims to represent a genuine inclusive democracy. What I don't get is that you aren't equally as motivated to expose the astonishingly corrupt and murderous regime that Putin has presided over.

There's a great deal of difference between them and the only reason you are living peacefully in a prosperous western nation is because the US took on the role of worlds policeman 70 years ago. If they hadn't been instrumental in forming NATO, Soviet tanks would likely to have been sitting on the channel coast, probably before you were born. Unfortunately, thanks to Trump, the US has begun to relinquish its role and we are now seeing the resulting mayhem (lately in Afganistan and now Ukraine) when the big fish swims away. This has all come as a mighty kick in the balls for Europe who failed to heed warnings that cuddling up to Putin might not be such a good idea. At least they have finally seen the reality, the question now is whether it is too late.

Spot on! I have repeated many of his previous claims in exact quotes back to him and all he does is refuse to take responsibility for what he said, or cuts out the relevant part of the quote and pretends he said something different. His only other tactic is to bleat about personal abuse while being happy to throw about personal abuse himself.

I think this comes down too not having enough training /practice on offensive actions on a well defended (modern) foe. Simply they believed their own (as did we) rhetoric and the limited previous actions in uncontested third world countries. You may note that largely the Ukrainian air force and conventional air defense systems are Soviet! However moving on from observations about the Russian military ineptness (or Ukrainian success)- What I find informative is that the right seem to resort to an isolationist view - try to ignore Putin, head in sand, and hopefully he'll go away and leave us alone.

"I cannot accept the scenario is plausible" - is based on nothing but the baseless opinions someone who has a very loose grasp of reality, as seen by your bizarre assertions of Russian moon landings. Your opining on the Russian population's view of aggressive military action is again wide of the mark, given their attitudes to the war in Ukraine - a country with significant cultural and personal ties to Russia and the extent to which the Kremlin controls the information landscape. The fact that you think Russia had "concerns over the expansion of NATO" and their "demands in the Donbas" yet again show your willingness to appease their aggressive actions while swallowing the Russian deflection tactic of "this is all because of NATO expansion". Here's something that sums up that viewpoint:

I think it is different. The point as I understand it is that these 15,000 Chelsea supporters own the pitch itself, presumably as a way of ensuring the ground/land can only even be used for football, and whoever buys the club/company does not buy the pitch. That is not the same with Norwich City, where the pitch is presumably owned by the club/company and would be part of any purchase deal, unless sold to a multitude of fans beforehand.

    2) Yet they have put a man on the Moon and have the world's second-largest nuclear arsenal. If the scenario you paint is to be accepted, then NATO should invoke Article 5 now because one way or another, whether it be along war of attrition or one that resorts to less conventional means, Ukraine cannot win alone if Putin's aim is to completely occupy the country. I cannot accept that the scenario is plausible, and feel that Putin is sufficiently wary of NATO's strength to risk venturing beyond his current brinkmanship. However, let's hope Ukraine doesn't become his litmus test. Who knows what formulates his thinking though and is it beyond reason to assume that, despite his autocratic status, the Russian people (and particularly the vociferous younger generations) would be unable to tolerate such aggression, the ensuing isolation and a reduction in the living standards that they have come to enjoy to the extent that unrest within his own borders would become Putin's biggest concern? In the next few days we will find out whether Putin's pledge to withdraw from the Kyiv area and concentrate upon the Donbas is real or just a tactical ploy. In the next few days we might find out just how "promising" the current round of peace talks really are? I, for one, have never suggested that Zelensky should have waved the white flag the moment Russian forces entered his country. What I have suggested was the need for compromise, from the outset, with regard to Russian demands in the Donbas and concerns over the expansion of NATO. I believe, perhaps naively, that less blood would have been shed if he had been as flexible in his thinking when first confronting these issues as he now seems to be.

The thing with idealists is that they let the perfect become the enemy of the good. Of course we all wish things were different with Putin but we have to act to constrain and minimise the damage to the world. At the moment that means arming and supporting our Ukrainian friends to defeat Putin's plans in Ukraine else we will eventually be having to fight a larger conflagration much closer to home.

I know (personally) more people with Covid or who've had Covid in the last month (including me and my family) than at any other time during the Pandemic. We're now pretty much back to living as normal and it's being allowed to run free like flu, coughs, colds and any other respiratory disease normally do (for the first time since the start of the pandemic). Hospital numbers peaked at 20,000 in January and have been creeping up again, last time I checked they were going towards that level (we have the same issue of how many are in hospital because of Covid and how many "with" Covid, my suspicion is that it's an increasing number where Covid is not the cause. I suspect we've probably already passed the peak of the latest wave, but I appreciate as VW has pointed out, there's probably a problem with so many people being off in some sectors. And by the time the next wave comes around, we probably won't actually notice it. But as a pandemic affecting our health at the national level, it's already over IMO and has been for a while. You can't impose restrictions on 65m people for this. It's only places like China that are still struggling with it.
