Imagine if he hadn’t been sacked. I suspect the results would be pretty similar to where we are now, and Daniel would be getting a torrid time at the matches and certainly on here. He has left with his head held high and that is probably the best outcome we could have wished for, for a much loved manager.

Definitely suspect Todd's advisors are the problem. Similar crap with Josh Maja.

Just because the standard of our on-pitch performance is dropping like a stone, that doesn't mean our supporters also have to plumb the depths. The results may be cr@p at the moment, but let's at least retain something to give us a bit of pride in the club.

Some of the crap aimed at Idah was an absolute disgrace. That kind of blatant racism is why we still take knees.

Nonsense....Farke had bar Zimmerman , a fully fit squad for the whole of his season ...and we were sh!t There was undoubetly an upturn in performance after Smith's arrival which has been derailed by 11 injuries/covid cases

Well, with all the abuse he’s been subjected to on here even though he’s barely played I kinda hope he finds a new club and really shines for them. He had two decent seasons, a homegrown lad as well and this is how he’s treated.

Alcohol combined with your football team losing I guess can drop the mask but if it's not in the heart it won't come out if the mouth.

Is that the 'model professional' Agbonlahor talking on a rent-a-quote radio station. Park him in the Jamie O'Hara bin section, nothing to see here. I do like Michael Bailey's most recent article on Gilmour though and agree with the points he has made. Billy Gilmour: Does still want the ball unlike others Never stops running whatever the score Is genuinely trying his best Not suited to play in this formation / a team fighting for their lives every match He's the wrong player at the wrong time, no slight on the player himself.

Distinctly different players in different positions and at different stages of their career so I'm not really sure how you can compare. Stieps took a while to peak with us and if anything that peak was short lived but even so was a very important player for us. Josh needs time. I've been critical of him, but you can't knock his workrate and I hope he achieves a bit of success with us.

The only thing worse than a self funded club owned by a couple of know nothings would be a self funded club owned by 40,000 know nothings.

These arent first team players though I'd argue our first Xi if all fit are Krul Aarons Hanley Gibson Williams Rupp Normann Gilmour Rashica Pukki Cantwell 9 of those didnt start at Palace We have to judge Smith and whether the players are performinging for him when theyre playing and fit In a fit squad there were players yesterday who wouldnt be anywhere near a premier league team

When, oh when, are people going to realise this has not worked, accept it and move on. It's time to end it now and draw a line under it. Cannot people also realise and understand that Billy Gilmour did not come here for our benefit. He came to gain experience of Premiership football and for Chelsea to see if he could handle it. He came here for his benefit and he came here for Chelsea's benefit. Not ours. When are club's going to realise they are being used by the biggest, richest, most selfish clubs and that the Premiership condones it. Billy Gilmour is just part of Chelsea's farm, nothing more.

This is a joke yeah? Nobody could be that thick? If you can't see how nine seasons in the prem gives you the money to invest in squad depth then you're beyond help.

Pretty poor attitude. It’s not his fault. He’s trying. He’s not showed any kind of attitude problem. His parents watch all our games abd were no doubt there at Selhurst so how do you think they would have felt? it’s not Gilmours fault Webber has assembled the worst/most powderpuff set of midfielders in premier league history. Had he been able to learn his trade alongside Normann and a proper athlete/physical presence in a midfield trio he’d probably have done quite well. But he’s playing as a holding midfielder on his own half the time and he’s not strong enough to do that.

I agree with most of your comments. The one who should have bit the dust is the one who signed the cheque for that complete load of rubbish in the summer window. Bet for sure it was not DF. He clearly pointed the finger at Farke , perhaps he should have looked where the other fingers were pointed as well. Did little old Brentford sell their best player? Guess you are right about his ego. Can't ever say that about Daniel.

Difficult not to be Captain Hindsight here but I think there are three key areas we went wrong. 1- the central midfield. It was clear to almost everyone that a powerful, athletic defensive midfielder with a bit of bite was needed. This need only increased when we bought Gilmour in, who clearly needs protection. All I can think is that Webber rates Sorenson higher than Farke or Smith seems to and felt he would step up, as neither PLM or Normann fulfilled this massive need. 2- thinking too much about the future. £15m on Gunn and Tzolis, both of whom seem like players for two or three seasons time, if ever, was madness. You can't spend that sort of money for the future when you've not sorted the present. 3- a lack of leadership. Difficult to screen for this but the weak mentality we showed under Farke 2 seasons back remains despite a high player turnover. Our heads drop easily, we lack organisation and we seem incapable of doing basics like keeping it tight to start games. As you the OP says when you go through it player by player you can make a solid case for each signing but as a collective it hasn't worked.

Add to that a possible reputation for being a trouble-making diva and I think you can cut that 30m by two-thirds.

I had thought the canary trust had folded but finally they have commented about something clearly haven’t witnessed anything else wrong with the club then

There's another point to this. Farke revolutionised training at the club. Training sessions were increased and the tactical elements of playing his system were complex and took quite some time to adapt to. Days off were moved to allow recovery sessions the day after games. It will have been a less than simple process to rip all of that up and alter the tactical setup. And whilst some say that there were signs of improvement under Smith, my own view is that we looked to have tightened up defensively but at the expense of attacking output. We scored 2 goals in Farke's last game in charge, we have scored 3 in 8 games under Smith, with two of those being goalkeeping errors and the other an absolute wondergoal from Pukki. To be honest, under Smith I think we've had 2 good performances out of the 8 games, Wolves and Man Utd. We were incredibly lucky to beat Southampton and, but for that, Smith's record would look completely horrendous. I don't blame either manager though. In all honesty, this squad simply isn't anywhere near good enough. With all of our best players fit all season, we might have a chance. But that never happens. Every team has to deal with unavailability of players. When you scratch past the surface of this NCFC squad, what is underneath is completely sub-standard.

We probably needed 3 x £20m signings ...not 11 signings totalling £65m+ It was was quality not quantity required. And actually, that would have worked out cheaper as it would have been only 3 wages to pay, not 11 We identified that we needed more height, strength and physicality and didnt really get it. If we indentified Ajer and Billing as players we needed, we should have gone and made sure it happened. If we lost out on targets because we fell short financially because we signed the likes of Tzolis for £10m, who Webber afmitted was a player for the future ,then its reprehensible. We needed players for the here and now

Who in all likelihood is going to stump up the cash to a) buy a controlling stake in the club and b) then put in around £200mill (finger in the air estimate of additional 150mill for transfer/agent fees and 50mill for the extra wages) from their own pocket for us to then finish, what...15th? Where is the attraction for a business person. Without Saudi-type money I don't think our ceiling is realistically too far above where we are unfortunately.

I do class this place as social media and tbh when you read any thread about the likes of Cantwell, Sergeant and Gilmour it’s as toxic as any other social media platform. People talking about how much they hate them, slagging them off. The game doesn’t need hatred in it, of anybody.
  27. 2 points
It wasn't "one or two" shouting the Gilmour chant though was it? Unforgiveable to personally abuse an individual player, whoever it is and even worse when he's a 20 year old trying to do a job for us which is not in his natural game. The ignorance of some of our supporters is unfortunately fairly obvious at every home game.

I said last summer what I felt we should do. 1.Offer emi a massive wage increase to stay- you don’t sell your best player on promotion. 2. replace Skipp - the most obvious and important task. I got shot down for perpetually banging on about this one- but the need for physicality was self evident. We didnt 3. sign a couple more BIG athletic players with some experience that is it.

What attempts? Since the St Andrews Hall meeting well over a decade ago the only 'protest' I can remember being talked about was the farce of a plan to fly a Delia Out banner over Carrow Road. Which was rightly ridiculed when it never happened. Absolutely nothing is stopping you and all the other posters here who want a change of ownership from getting organised to try to make that happen. Absolutely nothing that is apart from bone idleness.

For crying out loud mate. Give it up. You do realise you a simply arguing with a couple of wind up merchants and a few of their alter egos? They are simply taking the michael and will continue to do so until you stop. These are the facts, I suggest you and that other fool digest them: This forum has thousands of members and countless posts, you are simply arguing with a couple of our usual suspects. There are other NCFC forums, with less WUMs to choose from We have a proud history of celebrating Scottish players here and our currant captain is very well respected. A very few people chanted at yet another hapless display and yet you feel the whole county of a near million people joined in. Other than yesterdays unfortunate chant he has been well supported here by fans (not that you would know this yourself) We have been terrible all season and unfortunately, despite it not being his fault, BG is constantly bigged up as our saviour (this couldn't be more wrong) just because he came from some plastic's supporting club in London. We have yet again (despite the injuries etc) recruited badly for tis season and yet again are seeing an opportunity slipping away, we are seriously pi55ed off and angry. Things are likely to get a lot worse if this continues. Your attitude towards the majority of Norwich supporters, who have not turned on BG or others is poor. Yet you wonder why a few give it back? Finally, you will not win on this forum, you are being played and frankly I (and I'm sure I'm not alone) am embarrassed for you. For the love of god, re read this and sign out. You are doing no one any favours other than the usual forum wind up merchants who are having a field day. These are people I suspect haven't even set foot in CR for years.

This is shameful! A complete sh’t show of a thread! He’s a 20 year old kid learning the game. He hasn’t hyped himself, he’s playing in a very difficult environment with absolutely no CDM support and you lot expect miracles. Give the lad a break. It’s not his fault at all. Most of you I expect are grown men! Pathetic!

I mostly agree with that but I wouldn't go so far as to say that Skipp's loan has come back to haunt us - we knew he was here for a season and he did a fantastic job for us, and as it happens in his case I'm not sure that we really had a young player of our own whose development he blocked - arguably Sorenson I suppose? But either way this summer Webber knew we had a huge gap in the squad to fill with the departure not just of Skipp but also the legend that is Alex Tettey and yet he managed to spend a very considerable amount of money without addressing that gap including signing goalies that we didn't need (who is definitely blocking the development of one of our own) etc. I don't see that as a failure of the model but a straightforward c**k up by our Sporting Director.
  35. 2 points
I’m not sure the loaning of Skipp “came back to haunt us” - he was directly involved with our promotion. What has come back to haunt us is signing inadequate players because we don’t have enough money to attract prem quality players because we are “learning the lessons of Naismith” . And whilst our finances are so fragile that they can be derailed by signing one player (Naismith) (or by the way completely saved by selling one player - Maddison) we will never be able to compete in the Premier League. We will continually live on this apparent knife edge . .

Simple answer to this, is the owners actively advertise the club for sale and then is open and upfront about the offers. If they actually do have the best interests in our club, this is the very least they should do... will end the frankly silly "there is no one out there" talk... or prove it right. Who knows until its tried? New ownership doesn't mean automatic premier status, running the club as it is now automatically leads to our relegation and a trashing of our reputation. Please explain how sticking with our owners improves our club?
  37. 2 points
Agreed with this 💯. I was having a chat with another poster on here the other day, even the loan signing of Skipp has come to haunt us. We need to use the players we buy or develop rather than rely on developing big club players - we can’t afford to replace them if we get promoted and they ultimately block the development of our own, which I thought this whole self sustaining model was about…

In most places this is called not honouring the agreement you made when you joined the EU. The people of these countries are very happy with the EU and the benefits it gives them.

Cheap shot? Saying a last place team with only 10 points at Christmas doesn't have the players to stay up? You serious? If you want rainbows and unicorns go watch Ted Lasso

They can stick their title, F.A Cup, state of the art training centre and ground expansion where the sun don’t shine. They haven’t got our model and owners who are true fans.

He is far from a moron and we've not gone backwards since he's arrived whatsoever, we've had 10 senior players out injured and some fans don't seem to think that's a big deal. It would severely hinder a top 4 team let alone an already weak squad like us.
  42. 1 point
To be fair, being a Norwich fan, the number of good players you could count on one hand could easily be 9 or 10.

I personally despise social media and this is the only platform I'm on if you were to call this social media. Social media is a place for pond life to get together and air their dreadful or ridiculous opinions. Twitter especially is a cesspit of toxic manure.

I don’t think anyones said this lately but they say the definition of madness is trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result each time. We didn’t bring in a solid DM, and we brought in lightweight midfielders… again. This is what baffles me. Until we’ve got a squad consisting of solid, physical players down the centre we’re always going to flop in the Premier League. Man.. I feel so jaded right now…

Our recruitment has been poor for about four windows now. While I appreciate that's only part of his role, it is the most high profile part and the heart and soul of the organisation. It's looking ever more likely that we lucked into two incredible signings (Emi and Pukki) that hid a multitude of sins.

Although I will totally back Farke as a legend here, he had an identity in his style even though it was tough the first season he stood by it and we were very successful with it. He changed it this season and we looked worse…..should have stuck to his formation and system not changed to the pressures put on him. Unfortunately it was correct to let him go to get someone who might have kept us up, I was vocal at the time of the Smith appointment that he wasn’t in anyway an improvement given his track record and stand by that even more so now. In my opinion he doesn’t warrant any lei way or excuses, if things don’t improve in the next five games I’d be very happy to give him the boot and bring in a young up and coming manager who’s been successful at lower clubs working on a budget. Smith won’t get us up next year in my opinion, Smith suits Webber, someone happy to be in a job at a premiership club and won’t put pressure on those above him! This clubs in a very lethargic circle at present with owners who are happy to be a top championship club, Webber with no pressure on him now he’s got his claws into the club paying him and his other half a good wage for little pressure and players who follow the mantra from above that maximum effort isn’t expected at Little Old Norwich city, the fans fill the ground every game so must be happy at what they are producing! We lack proper leaders off the pitch and on it, we lack a vision that we got when Webber first came, it’s not that Webber changed our club in his five year plan, the club changed Webber from a dynamic visionary to the Norwich way, that will do as we have no money and can’t compete!

I think it stretches back to last season where we were overly reliant on Buendia and Skipp. Farke also didn’t play Placheta, Idah or Sorenson enough. We never got to see what they were capable of. Now they have to show what they’re about in the harsh waters of the Premier League 🤦🏻‍♂️
  48. 1 point
Some players do not live up to their price tags. What is so special about that? We sold Pritchard for 12 mils, now - still at 27 - he's rated at 2,5 m and left Huddersfield for free. Tzolis and Rashica can easily become our next Wolfsvinkels. Chances are that their valuations will drop by the end of the season.

At the moment its hard to see us getting near to the paltry 21 points of two seasons ago!

Alongside a ball winning DM Gilmour would look a different player. No doubt alongside Kanté he would show some of the quality he presumably possesses. For us, we do not have any DM to speak of (a shocking omission on our part last Summer) so he is being asked to fulfil a role he simply is not up to. A complete luxury for us and one we cannot afford. If we can unload him mid-term we should look to. We have other priorities (the aforementioned DM and a CF that offers a different threat) that he simply is completely unsuitable to address. Even if we recruit to accommodate him, he’ll be gone in May anyway.
