Try not to be such a massive TW*T!! Farke said in the press conference that some of the young players are having some problems in their personal lives at the moment. That could mean many things, but whatever it is I hope that Todd (assuming he's one of the ones Farke's referring to) and whoever else he's talking about are able to get over these problems and move on soon.

And just when I thought we had already reached the bottom of how silly posts there can be. So, you'd really want one of our best performers in the match to give public apology that he had run out of steam to cover fullback who played himself out? After his first game here? Really?
  3. 8 points
We're bound to get some crosses in.
  4. 6 points
**** me there's some awful suggestions on this thread, think I'm changing my mind from 'undecided' to 'give Farke a 20 year deal' if this is the best we can muster. 😂
  5. 5 points
We can add this to the bottom of the barrel level of thread quality. Seriously, he's one of our own players someone we are meant to back and obviously has something serious enough to keep him from playing going on in his life to stop him from being available. Why is it some on here and other places want to jump to the immediate negative. It sort of makes me feel like we don't deserve good players or success because too many of our fans are tosspots
  6. 5 points
If he was out because he wasn't focussed or some such, Farke would have said so. Not getting a transfer away, not being picked for the team or whatever else is pure conjecture. Personal reasons are just that. Personal.
  7. 5 points
What would the statement need to say? What sort of message would settle everyone down? Are we looking for some sort of arbitrary target? A number of points/games or Farke gets the bullet? An apology? Vote of confidence? Given the various levels of panic/disappointment/reactionary nonsense/Corporal Jones' etc; I doubt anything they said would do anything to relax folk and would likely just pour fuel on the fire. They gave Farke a new contract about 20 minutes ago, about 10 minutes before most fans seemed delighted with our transfer window. Given that contract, the club position regarding the manager seems to have been made clear recently. I don't really know what else you'd want them to say.

Indeed, far too late to cry now, unless you know some billionaire who has money to chuck away. Yoyo is probably the best we can hope for now, along with WBA, Fulham, Sheff U and one or two more. I don't know why people get sniffy about it, some clubs are stuck in the same League for donkeys years with no hope of it ever changing, at least we get regular helpings of joy and get trips to the elite more than once in a lifetime.

Yes, we ARE a yo-yo team, but so is half the Premier League. With the exception of a few seemingly permanent residents, mostly from the large metropolises, all clubs fluctuate up and down the divisions, and always have. The statistic that we hold the record for PL relegations is true, but only because we are successful in quickly regaining promotion. Perhaps we should have stayed in the second tier for donkey's years, then we could be a big team like Leeds or Derby. Most teams promoted to the PL only stay for a few seasons, often just one or two, so why are 'little old Norwich' always being singled out as the embarrassing team who have no right to be in the PL? Our success in the second tier gives us the undisputed right to be promoted. If we go back down again because the gulf between the leagues is too great, then so be it. We are no different to any other team in climbing and dropping - we are just more successful than most at quickly recovering from relegation. Nearly all clubs are yo-yo clubs.... we just have a shorter string!

I wish people would stop it with this '15 games on the bounce' cr@p. It's 5 games ffs. You can't bung two seasons ago into the equation when it suits

Roy Keane or Bryan Robson. Both were excellent players with a winning mentality.

3-3 draw away at Reading. 2-0 down in the first half, but fought back to take a 3-2 lead - only to concede an equaliser 5 minutes into added time at the end. Two more goals for the prolific Tom Dickson-Peters and another goal for the equally prolific Abu Kamara.

Some interesting rationalisations masquerading as analysis. Fact is, we won the Championship the season after being relegated. Very few teams do that. Heck, only about one in three manage to go back up. We not only went back up, we won it with a club record points total in the middle of a pandemic. Throw in the fact that Buendia wanted out pretty much all the way through that season and was our best player, and our second-best was arguably Skipp on loan, and Farke's had to somewhat rebuild a team upon getting promoted instead of having a very settled one. Lob in a Covid-affected pre-season where two friendlies were called off, the opening fixture list from hell and losing the first four was always an extremely likely outcome. Even then, we were two close offside calls against gaining two draws. Losing to Watford is reason to be annoyed, but not to panic.

P43 W5 D6 L32 F28 A89 GD-61 - WIN RATIO = 11.63% He should be sacked. His PL record is abysmal. He doesn't have the ability to adapt to this league. Changing managers isn't pointless. Let's face the reality, it would be difficult for a new manager to have a worse record in the PL if we're being honest. We definitely have a squad capable of picking up points in the Premier League. Take Brentford for example (no I don't wish we were Brentford), they haven't taken the league by storm, but they have picked up some decent, solid points. Yet we won the league last season with a record number of points, finishing comfortably above Brentford. Yes, on paper Brentford's opening fixtures have been easier. But, this is Farke's second shot at the big time now. We lost Emi, but the squad definitely has more strength and depth to it. However, never mind picking up a win, we don't even look like picking up a point. You don't go from 97 Championship points to the current shambles unless something is inherently wrong. The team looks lost at times. Farke doesn't look like he has learnt anything from 2 seasons ago. Give him more time? How much more time? What is the point? The last 4 years has proven that Farke and his coaches can't sort the defence. 43 Premier League games have shown that he can't set the team up to handle the opposition's power and pace. We don't impose our identity enough on the opposition and we are far too predictable and naive in our set up and thus make things too easy for the opposition to create chances as easy as a knife slicing through butter. At the start of the season I was feeling positive and fairly confident that there were at least 3 worse teams in the league than us. Now I feel that we are the worst team in the league. We just don't have an identity, we've lost it, where's it gone? We're far too soft and naive. Southampton have had some horrific Premier League results over recent years, but I looked at their result and performance at Man City with admiration. The way they ground out a point. Sadly, we don't look anywhere near close to doing anything like that against anyone in this league.

In a heartbeat, everyone keeps going on how good he is, but the reality is he’s not very quick at closing down, switches off defensively and just shown that he’s not a premiership quality player. Trouble is we have an inexperienced youngster who looks a better choice or a loan player to sit alongside Gibson who is a little prone to injuries. I’d like to think by the end of October Kabak & Omobamdele might be the natural partners who could compliment each other. I’m not keen on three at the back nor three in the middle as we’re trying now, it’s inviting too much pressure and slow build up. I’d much rather go with two holding covering players then three behind either Pukki / Idah or Sargent. Back to the system we’ve always played under Farke. It was certainly working last time up here till injuries Covid killed our chances even with a less prepared squad. For the record McClean great squad player who can pull a great performance out the bag, but at this level he really looks out of his depth, no stain on his willingness just that premiership is too good for his level. Just my opinion and I’m sure most won’t agree. I’d be looking to finally play the best side we can put out, for me it has to be! Krull, Aarons, Kabak, Omobamdele, Giannoulis Normann, Gilmour Rashica, Cantwell, Tzolis Pukki. Risk at the back with youth, but counter that with mobility and enthusiasm. More threat to make other a little more uncomfortable. As a addition, shows just what a great job Skipp did for us last year, we really miss him this season.

I’ll bet you any money you like we lose, but one thing we do know is you won’t be there watching it. Some of us are there watching it mate seeing for ourselves the inadequacies, the lack of ability, the lack of power and pace, Arrogance is surely some armchair worrier who thinks because he owns a fcuking stupid hat and has seen some highlights on sky goals that he has a right it tell others what to think. you’re beyond arrogant you are an idiot with nothing but some stupid hard on for German men with bad haircuts. How dare you tell paying fans, fans who have pumped money in for 35+ year what they can think.

I've stayed away from the forum for a good 24 hours though tempted to like some posts. Your common sense though has brought me here. I still support the project which you've more than hinted at: * Signings that I have been intrigued about and bought at good prices (for us). Never thought we could attract a player like Tzolis for example. Farke has been a factor * I like the fact that there is harmony between board/management and we are not seeing the kind of upheaval we have seen at other clubs (Sheff Wed, Derby...many others) * I didn't expect many points from those first 4 games. Then we lost yesterday (Farke has yet to win a point against a Watford team I heard). Am I panicking? No, bollux I'm not. Am I resigned? No. It's still early and it feels to me like we have a brand new team. Nothing like 20/21 in the Championship. And...though we won the league, we HAD to bring in new faces. Everyone (well, most) were pleased with the window. Jeez, two played their FIRST ever game yesterday. The moaning on here is justified for a poor performance....but talking of sacking the manager now is beyond stupidity for our club. * I will wait til 12/13 games are played before giving up on my club for the season and resigning myself and my expectations to relegation if we don't get many points by then (feel we need a minimum of 11 by the time game 13 is played). I watched Chelsea blow Spurs away today. They have the England captain and a whole load of experienced players and a very experienced boss. It happens. Last year Southampton lost a match 9-0. Hell knows what this place would have been like if it was us. Hasselhuttl is still there. I say this to make a point about perspective. Is it Farke's fault that Ozan missed his marker yesterday? That Kenny McLean made an horric attempt at a clearance gifting Watford the chance? Too often folk cannot wait to jump on the manager blame wagon. I don't expect there are many managers as motivated than Daniel Farke in being a successful manager in the PL right now. He has said as much. What is needed now is real support not trial by keyboard warriors on social media. When times get hard you have to support in my view. A few weeks ago DF couldn't do much wrong. Then we lose 4 games we knew were difficult and played crap for 60% of the fifth game..... We are seeing more like 2 strikers up the field and a virtually new midfield and 50% new defenders. I realise this is an unpopular post for maybe 60% of posters on this board right now but (and I will leave my usual temperate persona here) I couldn't give a f*ck. I would ask for a bit more patience to see if we can turn this around in the coming weeks. Sorry. Long rant.

It’s sad that so called supporters want to stir the pot over any single detail they can to intensify negativity around the club they purport to love. It makes me wonder if some sections of fans, and that’s not solely restricted to NCFC I might add, are actually happier following a club when they have their chance to get upset and angry. But I know the answer, and there actually are people in life that really do derive pleasure from feeling like that. Anyway, regarding Todd, hope all is ok with him - not my business to know, and nor do I need to know, but in situations like this, I think unless you’re a complete fool/a-hole then you should always give someone the benefit of the doubt and respect that maybe just maybe there is a private issue that is of far more significance than a 3-1 loss.

I see Wycombe are now planning legal action. I suggested at the end of last season that this could happen.

Way too short for me. He's having to somewhat rebuild a team whilst getting promoted into a league with a notoriously large gap between its current standard and the league they got promoted from, which is an unusual set of circumstances. Most teams that get up tend to be a shade more settled and you're seeing that to some extent with their starts early on. This is the downside of having spent a large sum of money, by our standards, on potentially better prospects than what we had before and then having to integrate them into the team. I would actually argue that the biggest criticism that could be aimed at Farke here was that he'd previously built a team that was a bit too dependent on one player in Buendia for a flash of inspiration or excellence that could unlock an opposition side, but we still did something tremendously unusual in winning the Championship the season after we were relegated as bottom side in the Premier League. Unless his players indicate otherwise, he's earned the whole season for me. Think Leicester City after winning the title, it was clear from their performances that Ranieri had lost the dressing room late on in his reign. That's when you need to change. Although I'm less "pro-Farke" and more "anti throwing everything overboard at the first sign of discontent and potentially putting a lot of excellent work into reverse". We've just got back to becoming a genuinely top-drawer outfit for bringing youth into the first team so even if Farke was to go, I'd be after a similar sort of manager in this regard at the very least.

In time you will realise that there is no end product in supporting NCFC. It will never be a fixed thing. The ups and downs are the things that will bring you a lifetimes pain and pleasure. Forget about end products and just enjoy the ride.

Is premiership a fail in your book? I don’t know what you expect? As most will certainly confirm I’m no Delia lover, I’d be happy to see a change, but it’s not come, it won’t come in the current environment so I’ve come to terms with it. That’s this club, we can’t do anything about it! You might think you can but the days of mass protests are a bygone era. Football has become a greedy monster which has been allowed to grow, fans should have been more vocal back in 1993 to stop the sky & betting regime taking football into where it is now. Over paid players, greedy agents and little loyalty both ways, leaving fans of 90% of clubs moaning as you are. That’s football, sorry but if it’s not your bag anymore then you have a choice.

I hope the matter doesn't arise, but if you won't tolerate it, what will you do? You have already booed and tried to undermine the player's confidence - as a warning. What will you do next as proof that it won't be tolerated - what actions do you have in mind? Or is it just hot air?
  34. 2 points
Who knows why the people booed. Maybe there was a whole range of reasons/targets. But ultimately the players were on the pitch where the boos were directed so would surely assume it was them? These are the players we need to keep us in this league. The transfer window is shut and the money spent. For me booing these players is probably not the most supportive thing we could do. But each to their own.

Losing the fans would be correct, I think you are reading it as lost the fans. That is of course assuming that less that 40% wanted him sacked a week ago etc. There is significantly less faith in Farke now than there was at the start of the season..ergo he is losing the fans.

    The teams I feel we are competing with for survival over the whole season are Newcastle, Burnley, Palace, Southampton, Watford and Brentford irrespective of current league placings. on this basis the current mimi league table is: P - W - D - L - F - A - Pts WATFORD. 1 - 1 - 0 - 0 - 3 - 1 - 3 NEWCASTLE. 1 - 0 - 1 - 0 - 2 - 2 - 1 SOUTHAMPTON 1 - 0 - 1 - 0 - 2 - 2 - 1 BRENTFORD. 1 - O - 1 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 1 PALACE. 1 - 0 - 1 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 1 BURNLEY. 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 NORWICH. 1 - 0 - 0 - 1 - 1 - 3 - 0 Of course this doesn’t take into account each teams results against the rest of the league. if you think there are more likely candidates for a survival fight feel free to nominate them. I’ll update the table as the teams play each other.

Isn't is obvious that he's not up to Premier standard? I know he's a big character ' in the dressing room', but the simple fact is that he's not mobile enough at this level. Keep him as a squad member maybe, as and in the Championship, but really need to improve on this important position. Also Kenny same as above. Rupp also not offering enough at this level. Tough decisions Mr Manager
  40. 2 points
The only arrogance I can see is yours in demanding a statement. The loyal fan base who go to matches must presumably be quite aware of things as they see it all on the pitch and they could as well, if they have the mind, try and understand the issues and context of various situations. Some would raher start lumping together results from two seasons ago with this one, neglecting the fantastic season in between, some would ignore the fact that we have two good new players who are earmarked for the forst team and have only been training with us just one week. Some would ignore the fact that we have had the hardest start to the season with the way the fixture have fallen. Statements? The only statement we need is on the pitch in the next game.
  41. 2 points
Rubbish. You think the manager is scared? This was the man that turned a losing mentality into a winning one last season and how did he do that? By improving the squad and instilling belief. He did that when he came to Norwich and he did it again last season. He'll do it again if our those fans that are fickle don't spoil it for him. No-one likes losing five in a row, but throwing away a coach of Farke's capabilities and mindset would be foolish. He is still the man and imo will prove that in the coming weeks.
  42. 2 points
The 15 match run thing is irrelevant in my view. We were always likely to lose the first four games this season - anyone can see that, but it is this 5th one that hurts the most because it was against Watford - but then that is just one game - where we played two brand new players and it was clear they weren't integrated well enough yet. If people want to add these five games to two seasons ago, then that is up to them - but it is just another stick to beat the club with when really it is disconnected. The real test comes now and how we react to the Watford defeat - whether the new players can get up to speed or whether the right combination of players can be found, if the players stop making mistakes like McLean did etc etc.
  43. 2 points
Football is a team sport. Last season we had one of the best defences in the division with a very settled back four. The Watford game was played with two new players in the back line. We also had two out of three new midfielders playing (one on debut). Up front we also had two new players playing. We had 6 new players in all playing. A number of whom were late signings. Plus we're now playing 433. If that amount of change isn't a recipe for misunderstandings and individual errors I don't know what is. The Watford game came too early for us with all the late signings we made. If we could have afforded to sign all those players in pre season and bed them in we would have done so. Then maybe we'd have had a different result. Anyone who thinks that the Watford result means that Farke is a bad manager or that our new players are poor signings is running the risk of coming back in the next life as a dung beetle. This was always going to be a tough fixture.
  44. 2 points
On that research you are on about, he would have had to say that we had 6 new players from last season playing today. Watford had 5. One of their players was signed after ours but is already bedded into their team. The difference is we have signed players who are either very young, have no Premier league experience, no top level European league experience or a combination of the above. Watford signed players for the here and now. Players with lots of Premier league experience. They might not be for the long term but they are ready now. Even if our signings come good after a while we will have a big game of catch up to play.
  45. 2 points
Stop actually putting what's said into context. Wont go down well.
  46. 2 points
It's not the first time Farke has started the season slowly. Yesterday was a big step in the wrong direction, but Farke needs a few more games at least to try to get a tune out of these signings. Let's see where we're at after the Brighton game. As for the project itself, that must not change. Anyone who has been to Colney in the last few months will testify how massively our infrastructure has improved, and the players we're producing through the Academy are only going to improve as the fruits of our off-field labour are harvested. It may be that Farke's tactical style proves insubstantial for survival in the PL, but he is ultimately expendable (much as I love him). Until such time as we have very wealthy owners, the project is absolutely the best manifestation of this club I can envisage.

Lets do a bit more shall we? First goal taken from the highlights on youtube. Dennis is between Kabak and Aarons. Rashica and Williams are too close together and neither are closing down the Watford full back. If Kabak doesn't know Dennis is there he would expect a shout from Aarons. Is that communication there? Does Kabak know Dennis is there? In the end Kabak is week and fails to hold off Dennis coming across him and Aarons just watches. Nothing Hanley can do about that, all about one of Rashica or Williams being much faster in closing down the ball and Kabak dealing with the ball in. 2nd goal, this is the angle from the NCFC youtube channel of the moments leading up to the freeze screen you shared. In the run up to this those players threaten to run in over the top as we have been pushing up. The radio Norfolk commentary suggested that several players were caught due to an airs-hot by Sissoko. In either case, moments before, they were closer to the half way line, with players pushing forwards. Hanley is clearly concerned by the pace of Sarr and has decided rather than risk off-sides, to try and get closer to marking the space. If you look at where Sarr is right here, you can see why. However, if the ball here is played to Sarr, he is on side, you would have a reason to bemoan Hanley. However, he is trying to get across and I can understand what he is trying to do to try and counter the break and get across. Straight after this, in the footage, he is clearly communicating with players to get back and into shape. He is gesticulating, and pointing. The freeze shot you show, has players sprinting back to do so. He is clearly telling Normann to get over towards King too. Moments after this. Normann is facing King having been told alerted to his position and the threat. Williams has started to turn to face where the ball is being played. Look at the space between where he is and where the player he is going to close down is. Neither Kabak nor Aarons are close at this point, in fact, Rashica is further back. Look how much space the two Watford players have in their half. Again, if they bang one over the top into the channel at this moment to Sarr, then yes, Hanley is playing him on-side. But they don't. It is, however, effectively 4 Vs 3. There isn't another player closing down either of the two Watford players in their half. Thi This is just before your freeze frame. Normann has somehow allowed King to get inside of him, not just beyond him. Hanley is getting Kabak to come in and get Sarr - you can see him looking at Kabak and pointing. This is because he will want to go and close King down. With Normann, the best thing I can say here is that he knows Williams needs to close and see's the threat of the 2nd Watford player - however, stick with your runner... Just after your frame where the ball has been played. King has got inside and away from Normann, Williams didn't close down quick enough. The ball played into the channel on the edge of the box cuts them both out. Hanley knows he has to react, King would have been onside whether he was inline or not. Kabak at this point realises he should have been sprinting back. Hanley looks to close down the space King is now in. Now we are 2v2. Kabak is just behind Sarr but goalside if he can get back inline with him. Hanley having looked to close King down has realised that he has gone too wide now so is better holding his run in line with the post. He doesn't now know where Sarr is though, having given this responsibility to Kabak who's job it is not to communicate this at least. This is dreadful. Sarr brushes Kabak out of the way, Hanley unawares, goes to try and block the cut back. At this point, when I was coached, I was told if a player beats you, get back to your goal line. Kabak just stops. Hanley puts in a challenge but is unable to stop the shot. If Kabak follows in towards the goal to Krul's right he stops the shot. Aarons has also stopped though is out of the picture and would also have been towards the back post if he had kept going. If you want to single out any blame here I think you are just wanting to bloody your pitchfork. 1) The two Watford players should not have had so much time and space as that. Where are our other midfielders? 2) Williams should make a choice much faster. Follow King or close the ball. It's a tough call but you have to commit to one or the other. If it was me, and I am certainly not a pro, at the point of the decision I would have stuck with King. Their full back will have to come forward with the ball and you can close him down when there is less space for King to play in to. Going out to him at this point would just allow him to tap it past you and run or play the ball he does into the channel when we are not ready to defend it. So take the choice that cuts out their runners and slows down their play by keeping the ball in front of our defence and not behind it. 3) Normann - as a more experienced pro also needs to make a choice and communicate. Help Williams with the decision. If I were him, help Williams with King then when their full back advances, go to close him leaving Williams with King. Again, with only two attackers looking to get on the end of the ball at this point, marking them means they play it to another player further from our goal or they play a ball that has to be very good. At no point should the blame for this goal be on Hanley. He doesn't play any of the balls forward onside. He is actually the first to get back and try and form a defensive line. Hanley is the first to react to McLean's slice. Kabak play's King onside. McLean dashes back to try and stop King and then follows on to try and stop the shot on the line. I don't blame McLean, slices are horrible. But if you watch the passage of play from literal moments after this Kabak isn't pushing to run back he is holding his arm aloft to claim offside. In this day and age there is literally no point to claim for offside until the ball is dead because you have VAR there is no point. By doing what he, and to be fair, others including Hanley did, all they are doing is taking themselves out of the game. Now, to be fair to Hanley, he wasn't going to get back to tackle King. But Kabak arguably could have. It's a horrible result. And I am as gutted as most folks are I feel. I have said a few times that I remain to be convinced by the 4-3-3 formation. I also suggested caution to those suggesting Omobamidele and Kabak should be our starting pairing. Especially on this evidence. However, the one thing you'll never find me submitting to is that a defeat like this is ever one player's fault. To seek out a scapegoat, to try and paint every goal as their fault, IMHO, is incredibly lowly behaviour. It's a team sport. In football you have at least three banks of players before the goal keeper. Questions start at the front and work their way back. Ultimately one commonality in the three goals is midfield. The first for Rashica not closing the ball down fast enough to prevent or rush the cross. The 2nd for Normann not sticking with the run of King. And sadly the last due to a horrible slice from McLean. Could the defence have done better? Yes. Williams and Kabak for the first, Williams and Kabak for the 2nd. And to me, as both are what I would call decision making decisions, you have to say it is down to experience. 9/10 you are better making a choice and sticking to it. Easy to say if you have played 20years of footy, even at an amateur level as you face similar decisions just not with the same level of players. And to be clear, I am not scapegoating Kabak, Williams and/or Normann. I think all three are communication related and experience related. That means we are not working as a team effectively. Voices are not being used, shared or heard if you ask me. Having been that youngster in a side of more experienced players on some ropey Sunday league pitch for James 1st way back in the blurry days of 1998/99 I can tell you, those voices telling you to stay or to go close or to jockey are invaluable. After a while you pick it up, you start getting a feel for the game and knowing. You still need help in trickier moments but you start to get an idea. It's the same again when you move clubs, you relearn what they want you to do. Some teams want you to close, some to drop. You listen, you adapt, you learn. These are team goals to have conceded. The defending as a team is poor, the focus should not solely be on the defence - each of these attacks and goals have involved midfield positions in front of the defence.

Ridiculous. No reason to sack him whatsoever, not even a question that should be asked, but if anything, he needs time to get the best out of the new players.

I have never booed my team and never ever will. You can be very upset and frustrated with the performance today but booing achieves nothing. It in fact makes matters worse imo.
