9 pointsOutrageous that he never got a testimonial or goodbye game. Probably the player who's put his body on the line for us more than any other in the past few years and he's greatly underappreciated as a footballer. I'd love to see us organise a friendly against Paderborn or another link up club or something to say goodbye to Tettey, Stiepermann, Trybull etc.

5 pointsNormann starts tonight for Norway in their World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands if anyone fancies watching him outside a highlights reel, should be interesting. Incidentally, Brentford (and also Norway) legendary CB and all round wonder footballer Kristoffer Ajer, who just this week celebrated the Bees surviving relegation this season after picking up 5 points from their first 3 games, only makes it to the bench after being deemed ‘too good for international football’ by Brentford supporters and so therefore sits out tonight playing in a competition that’s below him.

5 pointsI understand they're introducing 'Flogging a dead horse' at the next Olympics. You're the odds on favourite with the bookies.

3 pointsI wrote a piece about Normann here; https://link.medium.com/i9F7yoGBcjb He’s unlike anything Norwich have had under Farke, and to be honest, I’m not sure I’ve seen many players like him at all before.

3 pointsMclean is better than Lees Melou in my opinion. Mclean will be vital to our survival this year

3 pointsWith Timm Klose exiting, there are now very few of that team from the year that changed everything, the team that surprised everybody to take a group of unknown Germans, free transfers and players from the youth team and make them into a side that surprised everyone, never gave up even into the depths of injury times and gave me and many others one of the best years I've ever had as a Norwich fan. The classic line up was probably: Krul Lewis Aarons Zimmermann Godfrey/Klose Tettey Leitner/Trybull Stiepermann Hernandez Buendia Pukki subs: Vrancic, Rhodes and Cantwell I'm taking a moment to raise a glass to that team and all they achieved that has made this transfer window and hope possible. Hopefully Pukki, Aarons, Krul, Zimmermann and Cantwell will be around for a while yet and the others will go on to enjoy the rest of their careers safe in the knowledge they achieved something magnificent that year.

3 pointsIn the real world he's failed to be the most popular person on 8 occasions, on one of those occasions a man in a dolphin suit was more popular that Nigel. 🤣

2 pointsYes please and a Werthers Original to suck on, I would have said a Fishermans Friend but then I realised the response that request would have received...........

2 pointsSo where are Jools, Swindon Canary, Bill .....maybe one or two others? Seem to have disappeared. They often had a lot to say about Brexit. Has the subject bored them or are they doing other things? I've found it strange. Anyone know? You get the sense that chickens are really coming home to roost now and lots of comments are emerging in the main media (and on social media) that Brexit was probably not a great idea. There is a veritable winter of discontent coming isn't there? Fruit incapable of being picked because workers were sent back to the EU, fishing becoming uneconomic, lorry driver shortages, certain goods being in short supply, building materials prices increasing. The argument appears to be whether its Brexit or Covid. Yet, it's clear to many that it's the former that is the biggest influence. We left without agreeing to a single market, without a customs union, with no "dynamic alignment" but instead we went alone as a third country with a FTA .....yet now we find ourselves trying to negotiate grace periods, extensions, fewer trade barriers and tackling bureaucracy though now, we're a sole voice. We are no longer part of the club so lose any influence we had.

2 pointsBruce's goal remains my most exhilarating football watching moment, if you weren't there, particularly if you were too young or even not born it is hard to appreciate the visceral nature of football at the time. I think that has been lost. That said Carrow Road was a true **** hole, building site on one side, teams changing in portacabins, and a undercurrent of violence prevalent in football and wider society generally. All that and the Binners, although in decline, were coming off the back of a decade of East Anglian dominance and a series of what must be admitted were fine teams.

2 pointsNormann is a very attacking, defensive midfielder. Sounds a contradiction, but he makes lots of defensive actions in a game, but also takes loads of shots and gets into attacking areas. He isn't just going to sit deep and sweep up like Skipp did. Whether he takes Gilmour's role or not is far from clear, can actually see a system where he plays alongside Gilmour in a sort of double pivot.
-
2 pointsIt's OK, problem solved, Dido Harding is going to implement a beer supplies track and trace system. 😀

2 pointsYes I was there, I was 12 years old. I was a season ticket holder with my dad & we sat in the south stand. I remember my dad grabbing me & we were both jumping around like a couple of lunatics. My dad has since passed away, but looking back always brings a smile to my face. The final at Wembley is something which I will never forget, my dad & me having a brilliant day together. I had a raffle ticket for us to win 1-0 & the prize was a £10, which was a lot for a 12 year old. But I nearly didn’t win, because of Mark Barhams effort, which just went over the bar. Happy times indeed.

2 pointsYou clearly haven't read a thing produced by the Road Haulage Association. Even before brexit the RHA said we were about 40-60,000 drivers short of requirement. Brexit has significantly exacerbated this problem, as too has Covid. This issue will not be resolved by clearing a backlog of trainee drivers. The short to medium term solution is obvious, but sady we have a government that would rather see empty food shelves, and vegetables rotting in fields, than lose face and allow EU drivers back into the country.

2 pointsI looked at this too, but they have made several high value sales including Tomori, Abraham Guehi, Giroud, Zouma. Tomori, Abraham and Zouma were sold for nearly £90m between them, covering the Lukaku signing. They have done some pretty astute business.

2 pointsThe fruit loops are out in force. He was on the bench for Liverpool and Man City, so that rules out a weird idea of cooling the hype? Why would you not have him at least on the bench off the back of a good performance (and start) in the cup that week. Farke said he was a doubt. People saying it’s weird he finished the game… does every injury we see happen on the pitch? No, he’s young and enthusiastic, he might have felt fatigue but pushed on through because he was having a cracking debut. The next day it will have tightened up and he would have realised there was a strain. Now actually read what’s been said, 2-3 weeks. So 2 weeks suggests we are already half way through that. Now read what’s been said about the Greece fixtures, he would be available for their later two POTENTIALLY. I mean come on guys those are this weekend/next week. Isn’t it obvious they’ve told him to come out in the hope he might be able to make the World Cup qualifiers, even if it’s the last one. It’s really really bizarre the angle some one here immediately jump to ‘oh Farke is bad with players’ ‘Farke doesn’t tell the truth’. He’s literally been as honest as you can be about this.

2 pointsThis is exactly the gist of my earlier comment about the dysfunction at the heart of Brexit - many indeed most of those that support it want more protections from true global competition - not less as per 'Britannia Unchained' and this Johnson (its not really Tory) government. I've always argued that if we went towards a true US model it could work (minimal benefits) but not this conflicted lets have European social benefits and protections but otherwise 'global' free trade Britain. It's pure poppycock. Suggest we immediately raise the retirement age and pensions to 75, and force all those retired Brexiteers back to work. How dare they be idle!

2 pointsFantastic news - you can keep attacking the club for failing to sign a defensive midfielder.

1 pointSo a huge, massive season defining relegation 6 pointer coming up.. Well, for Arsenal 😉 What 11 are we thinking we should play then? I think I'm going for..
-
1 point101 in three seasons for Juventus, 29 in 31 Serie A matches last season. People just look at his age and assume he must be finished, but he really hasn't dropped off much from his peak.

1 pointYep agree. I could have added farming, Erasmus and financial services which arguably are less Covid related. Oh...and Northern Ireland to add - definitely Brexit. Then add in the worsening global reputation and it becomes quite a list😐

-
1 pointProbably as expected - good luck Timm, thanks for that goal v the binners!! From the BBC: Posted at 18:01 Klose leaves Norwich in mutual agreement Norwich City Swiss centre-back Timm Klose has left Norwich City after a mutual agreement to end his contract. …..just noticed, that was my 10000th post, too!

1 pointThat’s how he got the job in the first place! Took advantage of the gullible anti foreigner brigade! Without the great work by the science medical and logistics not to mention those who dedicated their spare time to help the vaccine roll out we’d be in a real mess. This government should be held accountable for the Covid years and an independent investigation should be held once we get back to a level of normality.
-
1 pointI was in the River End for that game, the crowd surge and celebrations when Bruce scored was nothing like I had ever experienced before and have never experienced since..........
-
1 pointUnder-rated classic! There’s something about the complete change of tone from cheekie cockney chappies to mournfulness that gets to me.
-
1 pointWatching these signings many seem overpriced and a little desperate. Makes me realise just how good a job Webber and his team have done for us getting the: - right targets (players with massive performance potential and massive sell on potential) - right deals (not putting us over our heads in debt and unshakeable contracts) - right time (ie not last minute)
-
1 pointThe binner commentary is rather amusing. Starts: "Gonna do it. We're gonna do it." Finishes: "Sh!t. SH!T." All in 35 seconds.😀
-
1 pointIt will need reminding to some, Cambridge, as seen on the Tzolis joining up with the national side thread, but Farke handled Buendia exactly as he’s handling Tzolis right now. He refused to rush him into the first 11 because he knows what he’s doing. Proof right there that we shouldn’t doubt his handling of such prodigal talents, and the timing of their integration into the first 11 👍
-
1 pointI think and hope Normann will start so Farke can stick him on his compatriot Odegaard and mark him out of the game. I’d also hope Kabak will start as I feel he’s best equipped to deal with Aubameyang. Full back selections will have to be spot on as Arsenal will probably go 4-2-3-1 and use Pepe and Saka as the wide options. Their defence is terrible so I’d certainly back our attacking players against their defenders. Also absolutely imperative that we don’t concede early so the crowd gets on their backs and we’ve got a real chance of coming away with at least a point from this game.
