If ever there was a lack of research and understanding. There is literally about a month between Maddison and Buendia in age. Remind me which one has been playing Premier League football for the last three seasons and which has been in the Championship 2 out of the last 3 seasons? Maddison is the better player as of right now, and he is "homegrown".

The fact that other sponsors, who are basically hard-nosed business sorts who will focus on the bottom line first, also noted objections to BK8 apparently seems neither here nor there. Denigrating critics as "woke" is the last card of those with no plausible counter-arguments.

This is just Media talk !! i have Heard from my Man ( unnamed for many years with some great info in the past that i have shared on here ) Everything is going really well on the Transfer front incoming all Norwich targets have been idenified also we have even agreed terms with some players on the out going front there is one downside another one of our star players is leaving , Buying players is like buying a houses sometimes you are in a chain , someone buys x that club wants our player so we need a replacement

Not so . The Argentinian Simone Hooperez enjoyed a (brief) spell as a ref in The Primera División until in a bizarre twist of fate , he was run out of town after disallowing a goal scored by an over head kick , by Diego Maradona for Bocca Juniors against River Plate.

Aside from the VAR issue, I think the refs have been letting a lot more contact happen and have not been giving the kind of cheap fouls that players "earn". This has made for much more flowing games and less stop and start football. I'd love to see the Prem reffed like this next season.

I know, I thought the thread entitled 'Spurs' was about cowboy boots. Easy mistake to make 😉

Explain how? Because of Emi’s track record playing in a successful team in the PL for several years? It actually shows what the ability to take decent free kicks and corners is worth 😉.

His legs had already gone by the time we bought him. He wasn't getting a game for Everton and didn't have what we needed either physically or mentally. I'm fairly certain that at the time our recruitment was rather impulse driven rather than the current stats and attributes based approach: 'Aye, he's a good lad' was Alex Neil's answer to performance analysis. While I will maintain that selling Buendia was the best business we've ever done, buying Naismith was undoubtedly the worst. We signed him on a 3.5 year deal reportedly with no relegation wage reduction clause in January 2016 so we were still paying him one of our biggest ever salaries for two years after we were relegated until we paid him off for the final year, presumably stumping up the majority of his wages due. Over £15m in total blown. It nearly bankrupt us and stands as a stark lesson for all those who claim we 'lack ambition' by refusing to make the same mistake again.

Agree. Putting the English refs to shame . Consistently telling players to get up - something you might see once a month in England . Not giving free kicks for falling over . And VAR reverting to “clear and obvious” as intended . Much better . POGMOL have a lot to learn , but they are too arrogant to take any notice .
  12. 3 points
Exactly. For "minor" decisions if the error is so obvious that it can be overturned before the goal kick is taken, then nothing is lost. If it needs two or three re-watches and the goal kick has been taken, play on, umpire's call. It's really not difficult to get right. Likewise for offsides. If you need to draw lines on the screen to check whether they're onside or offside, you go with the decision on the pitch.

Indeed. Israel have 81% of adults double dosed ( all Pfizer ) and only have that 19% and 2.6 million children unvaccinated. Their take up in the younger groups was getting low so they introduced green passports and most then came forward. They felt in the adult population any adult not yet vaccinated was unlikely to get vaccinated so they lifted all restrictions completely 1st June to vaccinated and unvaccinated. The only restriction is that in small enclosed places you must wear a mask, but even that is now being looked at. Their case numbers are below 20 per day and deaths average 2 per week. It is expected assuming children are not vaccinated that ‘ herd immunity ‘ will be reached by the end of the year. Their Pfizer quoted efficacy rates are fast approaching 100%. They are the ongoing data for Pfizer so if immunity begins to shrink we will probably hear from Israel first.

This is why I have such little respect for so many transfer opinions on this forum. People just don't actually think through what they're saying. It's like they don't know how football transfers, or specifically player values, work. But they do love anything they can b!tch about. Classic fag packet maths.

Can you imagine if these types of player, manager and chairman interviews were commonplace in this day and age, getting to hear Farke's reaction as he loses his best player, stood right next to him, for a club record sale before the chairman discusses his contract on camera.

Perfect VAR this evening for the penalty to the Dutch. Brief delay, ref goes to the monitor and gives the pen, correctly IMO. I wish we could have it like this.

Here’s how you tell if Jim is being serious. Does his post (attempt to) cast the club in a bad light? If yes, then he’s being serious.

These "hopeless" comments had me reflecting a bit more. One trouble we have is that the UK government is not being led by someone able to be serious about many things. Cummings obviously has an axe to grind, however its telling that his emergency meetings contain Johnson's rambling stories and jokes (see extracted quote from This Week). Compared with Starmer, he is a polar opposite. You could say Starmer is ultra serious and somewhat personality-less. Hence, perhaps he is less popular? But honestly, who would anyone want to lead a country? And in a pandemic. I would want the more serious 'technocrat' type. It seems to me that being the PM fulfils a tick in 'world king' ambition but it isn't about service to the country but service to Boris Johnson. If and when Sunak takes over (in a year perhaps?) we will see a wholly different leadership (and probably make up in quality of cabinet). Dominic Cummings has signalled that he plans to continue his campaign against Boris Johnson’s “chronic dysfunction” after he published texts from the prime minister in which he describes his health minister as “totally f***ing hopeless”. In a 7,000-word essay, **** says Johnson told “rambling stories and jokes” during emergency meetings.

Jim, you seem to lack a bit of self-knowledge, you and Kenny Foggo, railing about mobs and outraged vocal minorities. What do you think you are if not part of a vocal anti-Smith and Jones minority using cyberspace to make it look as if you are the voice of the majority of the fans? Have you forgotten the fiasco of the banner to be flown over Carrow Road, for which about two and six was raised?

  31. 2 points
Oh do **** off with this lame duck effort to blame the failings of the club on some fictional "vocal minority" part of the fan base. There is no conversation to be had. An organisation with the importance of the club within the Norfolk community must value it's integrity and relationship with its fans above all else, and most definitely a measly £5m. A club with premier league money - even a self funding one - should be able to cover a £5m shortfall in budgets without too much fuss.

Considering Kieran Dowell whacked in that corker against Derby and looks like he takes a good corner and set-piece, I think he's already in the building.

Absolutely, I think the worst thing about VAR is the lack of 'benefit of the doubt' being given the on-field officials. If they miss something obvious then yes, point it out. But if you are drawing lines then it wasn't clear and obvious. I guess the problem comes from where to draw the line (quite literally in VAR's case). They decided to take the stance of if it is offside it is offside, even if it is a fingertip, so fair enough they've stuck with it and been consistent. Don't think it is within the spirit of the game to govern it like that though. As you say, with cricket you get 'umpires call' where there is a margin of error in the reviews and it reverts to the on-field decision. Football should absolutely be doing the same, otherwise it completely undermines the referee

Rafael Behr in the Guardian has one of the very best analyses I have seen of Johnson, but beware - reading it may make you very depressed. Full-on Marvin depressed: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/jun/16/british-politics-drunk-brexit-spirit-boris-johnson

I'm sure you're right, I've not kept up to speed with the level of side effects being reported for the different vaccines. But let's face it, the level of side effects have been tiny given the vast number of vaccine doses given worldwide and I'm pretty sure we'd have heard about it if any of the others did produce common side effects. But it does seem AZ has some side effects among some groups with very low risk from Covid, such as women in their 20s with no underlying conditions. So for them it clearly makes sense to have Pfizer not AZ, and I work with some people in that age group who have made exactly that decision this week, and it's fair enough. I had AZ and I was happy it was available at the time. Plenty of other medicines have side effects which we ignore just because of familiarity e.g. someone mentioned the risks from a long course of aspirin but no one would blink an eye at being prescribed that.

There is currently a "catastrophic" HGV driver shortage that is very close to impacting on all food supply chains. Tesco had "crisis talks" with ministers yesterday and there have been calls for the army to help deliver food. This has been worsened by a huge shortage of trained warehouse staff. This is hitting schools as we speak, and that's before the hospitality sector have fully reopened and during the quieter summer months. This is a direct result of Brexit but has been compounded by CV19. Remember the empty shelves last year? The supply chain was largely unaffected but the shortage was due to demand side panic buying. Now imagine what those shelves might look like if consumers are panic buying because of supply chain issues? It's not good. At all.

You’re really overblowing the hardcore **** links Purple. My understanding from the reporting is it was one girl who was apparently a BK8 sponsored influencer who also apparently moonlighted in **** on another platform. Its like saying Baywatch was heavily associated with **** because Pamela Anderson made a sex tape. The soft core stuff was super overt, much like Dafabet, doubt it was missed it must have been known.

To be fair to Ben, he did a lot of good for the club over the past 7 years. Yes the BK8 debacle might be poor judgement but on the whole he fulfilled his role very well. Shame it seems to have ended the way it did but as with an things if it is because of that then the blame has to lay with someone

I have been told by somebody who uses Twatter that McNasty has raised his head and given glowing praise of Ben Kensell followed by Jake Humphrey and Darren Huckerby. No doubt Mick Dennis will add to the circle of wagons being placed around the club.

How out of touch are you? Any senior executive taken on gets a minimum 6 months notice period if it is a permanent appointment (for tax reasons). After three years service, that notice period doubles.
