Indeed- He was fantastic for us when he first joined. Did he have a poor season this year? Yes. But was that down to injuries and becoming a 3rd choice winger? Yes. End of the day Onel is someone who loves this club. He loves Norwich, he loves everything to do with the club and our city. He has talked at lengths about how norwich has 'saved his life and career and helped him live his dreams' many times. I have no problems with him staying here as this club truly is special to him

Good luck with that hope. Jim Smith is revving up to full pessimism mode even though the transfer window hasn't opened, and Highland Canary has just found an internet connection after apparently being marooned somewhere the other side of Neptune for pretty much the whole of this last season.

Of course they're a big club. Most people know of them. They're regular participants in the Champions League, often featuring in the knock outs. 50k every week. Regularly competing for trophies. They're not among the elite but they are bigger than we are, and some Premier League sides.

Compared to tax evaders, refugees take very little out of the pot. I wonder why some media elements seem so keen on peddling that. Especially certain media elements who don't always pay British taxes themselves with their cases of Rothermere Syndrome.

No. What Remainers , including here, said was the following: That freedom of movement was good economically for the UK, and the Brexit desire to end it would be damaging. Already proving true. That those who wanted to end freedom of movement would quickly find it had damaging unintended and unforeseen (at least by them) consequences. Already proving true, as Norwich City, among many businesses, have found.. That the claim by Brexiters up to an including Boris Johnson that the UK could get out from under freedom of movement while somehow keeping its total access to the single market was a lie. Already proved true. That the supposed restoration of sovereignty by ending freedom of movement would be shown to be a sham as soon as trade talks were started with the likes of India and Australia and it was found that such countries would force extra immigration on the UK. Likely to be proved true in the future. PS. To be clear, I am not suggesting those running Norwich City wanted to end freedom of movement. It would be surprising it they had done, given that it has, as I predicted here a worrying number of years ago, already started to adversely affect the transfer policy which is a cornerstone of the business model.

It's always been a great political irony that the far more democratic model followed by the EU for its MEP elections brought forth the likes of Farage, who had been a complete failure in the British one.

I think sadly that the fact he stayed last season after relegation and then played a huge part in getting promoted, earns him the goodwill to get the big move. He probably could have moved on then (for less money most likely) but stayed and knuckled down. Agree though that even 40million seems cheap. He provides so much to the team.

I'd be very disappointed if that was the case. Once we've paid our chunk to Getafe, that's only Ā£24m up front, which is about what we got for Maddison. Given our financial position and PL status, we need to hold our nerve on this one. Ā£40m should be the minimum, really.

The current badge is clean, not too cluttered, and clearly represents the city of Norwich and our nickname without being too fancy (the lion and castle together is the Norwich coat of arms). In a previous discussion someone made the point that the ball could use a bit of a modification as it's a bit primitive compared to the rest. I could accept a few "panels" added to it and maybe 1902 tucked in somewhere, but IMO we have a pretty recognisable and indeed iconic badge that's suitably distinctive. No real need to do much with it.

Why??? I assume that you forgot a small but vital word in that sentence but I think we can get your drift. So what practical difference would it make if Miliband 'embraces Brexit'??? Answer: precisely zero and if anyone on here followed his lead ................the same. The UK is now lumbered with the absolutely sh*t deal that Johnson and Frost negotiated (and now realise themselves is absolutely sh*t). What Miliband, or anyone else thinks about it is irrelevant after the deal is signed especially as it is not just a deal, it is an international treaty which as the idiot Johnson has already discovered (unbelievely this seems to have come as a surprise) cannot be changed unilaterally. Of course the argument about whether Brexit should happen and if so what sort of Brexit should it be is over. We know the answers to those questions; Brexit has happened and we have left with deal - a truly appalling deal from a UK perspective, and a pretty poor deal from an EU perspective but one which nevertheless meets all their main objectives. So there is nothing whatsoever we can do about it other than to point out to idiots like you as the lies and the myths unravel and the damage to the country increases that this is what you voted for. So suck it up and accept some responsibility for the unholy shambles that is unfolding all around you - and brace yourself for the tax rises that are going to be necessary if we are going to even attempt to repair the twin smoking ruins that are our economy/national debt and our public services.

Lots of Tory MPs on the boards of property management companies with massive stakes in office buildings, cafes etc in city centres. That's the only reason I can see for the government trying to force people back. I benefited from occasional WFH prior to the pandemic and have been 100% WFH since March last year. I work for a London consultancy and the feedback they've had has been virtually unanimous, nobody wants to go back full time. I'm lucky enough to work in an industry that can work effectively remotely, the only issue is the client expectations but even they have been somewhat re-aligned. I won't be going back into the office more than once a week and any attempts to get me to do so will simply result in me finding another position with more remote flexibility. Why? I can work efficiently at home with my own desk, IT setup etc. I'm not distracted by other people having conversations around me, or interrupting my focus with questions. I don't have to worry about a commute, if I was still leaving at 7 and not getting home until 7 I wouldn't have spent a fraction of the time I've enjoyed with my 18-month-old daughter. Instead I can get up and let the dog out, get my daughter up and dressed, have breakfast together as a family, take her to nursery and still be at my desk for 9am ready to kick on. I can be at home for contractors etc who need to come around (we've recently moved into a house that needs renovation work), take in my own packages, nip out for groceries/chores etc as and when I need, no need to cram everything in at the weekend. I personally couldn't give much of a stuff about the "social" aspect of work, I like focusing on my own thing and then scheduling time in to discuss, demonstrate stuff and get feedback. All the other stuff is just fluff that I don't care about.

I feel we are at a pivot point in this, it might go either way. The following report indicates a worrying aspect for sure: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/coronavirus-news-live-covid-wave-b1858698.html And Hancock too is clearly not entirely sure whether we will be delaying the 21st June: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/coronavirus-news-covid-vaccine-uk-lockdown-latest-cases-deaths/ So...one of two ways. I remain though on the side of caution, taking my line from the scientists rather than (this set of) politicians. The latter, let's not forget it, got it so wrong in November / December after a previous reminder of what might happen last Spring and I cannot be certain they won't make further mis-steps. That businesses are opening and hospitality especially, it is extremely important too. I wonder whether some kind of 'hybrid' measures might be brought in from 21st. The messaging needs to be clear.

I don't really understand why players not selected for the final Euro's squad are turning out with only 10 days to the start of a competition. This match should be trying out tactical experiments to see if those in the final squad can hack it. Southgate has lost it in my opinion.

I'd personally argue that football as a whole should be taking our approach, rather than unsustainable financing provided by ultra-rich, owners, with players having crazy power to hold clubs to hostage, and even crazier wages that nobody can sensibly justify no matter how hard they try. We should be trying to move the sport away from 100 million pound transfer fees, and 500k a week wages, not insisting that a clubs measure of ambition is based purely on how rich their owner is...

Many seemed to be a bit perturbed by the idea that the badge would change when suggested that it was a project Webber was contemplating. The biggest fear about any change to me would be the badge losing some element of character and just becoming a bland corporate logo like Juventus have done with their badge. I like the badge currently and don't know how it would be improved upon -- I tried to mess around with the logo and made these but it is hard to be beat the current badge.

To quote a manager in a recent Athletic article: ā€œIf you keep players against their wishes, they down tools. The only time I had anything any good out of that player was the November, when heā€™d stopped sulking. And by the time the end of that month came he was thinking about moving in January, so youā€™re back to the same thing. ā€œWith a player like that ā€” someone who is an important player ā€” from the moment they say that they want to leave, weā€™re ****ed as managers. Theyā€™re not going to give you commitment and they can be a bad influence in the changing room.ā€

This is ridiculous, we should keep him to have any chance of staying up. This would be like Brentford cashing in on Toney now they've got promotion. Exactly, that isn't going to happen. It needs to be silly money, and I think he's worth a lot more than Ā£30m, as a player but worth even more to us and our chances.

Only issues with loans for me is that Norwich will need players to really dig in next season and be able to ride long periods with no wins. Loan players will always have one eye elsewhere. While things are going well, loan players can be great and no different from a permanent signing, but when the atmosphere is not great they can be hard to pull along. Could really see this with Duda last season - he turned up all motivated and enthusiastic and was excellent on his debut and a couple of following games. Once he twigged that Norwich weren't likely to stay up you could see him just give up a bit. Can definitely see the benefit of permanent signings in a relegation battle as they are much more invested in the fight than someone who knows there is little consequence for them on the outcome. (This doesn't apply to all players of course, but it is hard to know before they sign which way they are likely to go).

I can get on board with this but I think the club needs to lean more into it if that's what they want to be. Delia & Michael are very public about their distain for the finances of modern football but outside of not spending much I don't see much 'counter-culture' about us. Longer term I'd be fully behind the club committing to some sort of 'manifesto' of what they will do differently to other clubs. Things like a commitment to a certain % of fan ownership, supporter representation at board level, committing to using Premier League money to bring down ticket prices, certain numbers of tickets set aside for younger people from lower income families so they can experience live football. I understand this wouldn't be popular with all fans but at least we'd be clear what we're standing for an fans can take or leave that.

Well a race to the bottom is a pretty good example of the Brexit Plan. The thing is @Fen Canary, we had a system that pretty much worked, was pretty successful when the UK was in the Single Market and Customs Union. There was room for improvement and an economy that didn't work for everyone BUT this was the result of British choices and economic policy. Brexit, and the Brexiteers ripped this up. And you know what, everything is a little bit crapper. Things are breaking down and bureaucracy is increasing. Simply put Brexit made this worse, and on this thread there has not been one single improvement directly attributed to Brexit identified on here by those who "knew what they voted for". We are talking about the immigration policy. Freedom of movement has gone and a new "Australia style" points based system introduced. Clearly the new system isn't working unless you are a xenophobe whose only interest was to keep out people who were different to you. Clearly the new system is leading to resourcing issues across hospitality but also the care sector, NHS, logistics, construction, and agriculture. Face it, it is crap, much like most of "Global Britain". It is also nastier and more mean spririted. Your failure to undersatnd the eceonomics of this is telling. It is not just an extra 50p on my coffee. It is fewer businesses, jobs & less tax revenue. The UK is poorer, we are poorer. This may seem pretty negative, and in fact it is. The country has gone backwards and the people who took us backwards seem to have no idea of how to turn this round. Instead they drive on, making further damage. The icing on the cake is the Northern Ireland protocol. Frost and Johnson negotiated this, said it was wonderful, forced it through Parliament and now, finally, bleat it is unworkable. Like much of "Global Britain".

Asked what appealed to him (the new CEO of Ipswich) about the project, he said: ā€œJust look at it [indicating the Portman Road stadium]. I'll tell you a quick story. A couple of weeks ago myself and my family drove down one evening ā€“ it was a good three-hour drive ā€“ and we drove to the back of the Cobbold Stand. ā€œAnd there was literally a lump in our throats just looking at the size of the stand, the tradition of the stand, the font of the writing on the stand. My other half said to me, ā€˜whatever you do, don't you get rid of that font on that stand. That means somethingā€™. Nobody has given any other ideas than "w3 n33ds M0r3z oV d4 MONEYZZ!!111!!!" That has literally been it. No ideas or concepts about how to achieve that, requirements of a prospective new owner, what we'd potentially lose from our current setup, no comparison between our current owners vs similar size club owners, no acknowledgement of our over-achievement based on finances alone, no understanding of succession. That's why @sgncfc likely referred to it as the 'same, tired old arguments', without putting words in his mouth.
