To perform an extremely complex operation to remove Ivan Toney from Grant Hanley's pocket.

Hi all, This is Wooster’s daughter. I’m not too sure if I’m posting this in the correct place but I know my Dad had some friends on here and I just wanted to let you all know of his sad passing on Sunday morning. It has been a shock to all of us as we hoped he would have many more years left. I just thought I should let you all know how much he enjoyed the forum and hearing from all of you. He’d always tell me of the fundraisers you’d do together and the laughs he had with you all. I know he’ll be celebrating Norwich’s win up there. All the best to you all

Absolute rock tonight.. MOTM without a doubt. Work rate amazing...

I think the undertones here that Goss was a bit average are wide of the mark. He was early in his City career, perhaps, but in that 92 season and the Europe one he was immense and a club legend.

It should be illegal for him to play in the championship, like a game cheat code. Unreal plerrrrrr

I still fancy Brentford to nick something here. Always got goals in them.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if it isn't either Emi or Skipp, your opinion is wrong!

I hope they do...on that evidence its one less relegation place to worry about

Greatest respect to Norwich. You are top on merit over the season to date. My contrasting view to some above is that this is not a season defining game for the Bees tonight, I see it as a bit of free hit for us. Win and we close the gap a litlle; lose and we have plenty of games to fight it out with the teams below us for what will likeley be the one remaining automatic place as we have to avoid the palyoffs at all costs. Would much rather you go up anyway rather than those Hertfordshire lot or the strange breed from West Wales who seem to have developed an irrational hatred for us for reasons that defy understanding. I hope at least it is not a repeat of the horror show on my last visit with the drubbing we got then.

Tonight's game is more about the psychology than the points. This is actually our most difficult remaining fixture against the second best team in the league. If we're going to lose to anyone then this is the most likely one. So a defeat would neither be entirely unexpected or a significant blow. The fact remains that, in all but one of the last 30 or so Championship seasons, 90 points is enough for promotion and that means we need just 20 more points which is 6 wins and 2 draws. I would argue that it's the 7 games against bottom-half opponents that follow which are where we would expect to pick up the bulk of our points. 5 wins would leave us requiring 5 points from our final 5 fixtures. Tonight's game is about the spotlight and the pundits. It's not really a big deal for us. We've already lost to Bournemouth, Watford and Swansea. The way we've quietly and efficiently gone about winning our less glamorous fixtures means we don't actually have to beat these sides. There's no pressure on us. It's a free hit tonight.

The years of lies needed to win the referendum, elections & push this deal through Parliament has had a deeply corrosive effect. We are out, and the facts of how it is working speak for themselves (so far, so bad). But this is not enough, not only does Brexit have to succeed, and be seen to succeed but the EU has to fail to satisfy a certain monomania. There is no evidence of either happening and both are highly unlikely.

All this brexitting gets a bit confusing. I'd love some of these people to go back and read their contortions and see how ridiculous they are being: "Luckily the UK had left the EU because if we hadn't we would not have had a successful vaccine rollout, even though we were technically still a part of EU mechanisms when our vaccine rollout started. EU members cannot do their own thing while under the auspices of the EU, even though EU members are doing some things to do with the vaccine on their own while being members which is a sure sign that the EU is falling apart."

Gibson has transformed the defence this season. So much more solid and assured with him in the side. Another leader in the side too

Respectfully disagree. Compared to some his analysis is spot on. You can tell he has played the game at the top level and knows his stuff from beginning to end. If you care to listen to Radio Norfolk now (20.18) he is still in full flow with perceptive analysis.

As much as I love watching Buendia, and tonight he was a class above,I would go for Skipp. At least 8/10 every game.Has been the difference this season....and what about that full length block at the end.Class act for someone so young.

    This. Goss was quality.

Emi looked knackered towards the end... noticed him walking back while Brentford were breaking on about 88 mins. Not surprised though as he puts himself about that pitch like a man possessed.

Toney looked very confused after the first 10 minutes. Is a centre back allowed to outplay him? Should there not be an enquiry into how Brentford's best player in the world was allowed to not score 7 goals against a team which is toothless in attack?

Brentford fan here. Came on to say that you deserved the win today. I was watching some of the predictions on either messageboard before the game and laughed to myself. 4-1, 0-4 etc. Wouldn't swap that about fandom. There were a couple of moments which could've changed the game ( Canos fluff, Toney half chance, and potential foul on Pinnock in the area which i'd need to see back) but generally, it was a great display from you, and the quality was clear to see. We might be seperate in points now, but i'm sure we share the same joy of our teams doing well in the current climate of the world. A little ray of light. Enjoy the rest of the campaign and I hope we play you twice next season.

The major fishing company you refer to is Fal Fish. It is on an industrial estate a mile and a half from my home. Employing about 140 people, many East European, its product comes to the factory from local fishermen. Its product goes to Morrisons supermarket, where it always has done. So nothing has changed except Morrisons have bought out the local owners. Directly across the road is a factory employing a similar number. It is Curver, an injection plastics company from the Netherlands, owned by Keter, an Israeli company. Their products, while sold in the UK, are also sold in the EU. The factory was originally built with European money to house Case, a US company that manufactured jcbs. They were succeeded by Contico who also manufactured plastic domestic products. So tell me, which factory is benefitting foreign sales and exports more?

I certainly see your point there but still side with Farke's view that the best approach is to see all games as having equal importance. Perhaps there's a genuinely deep and interesting philosophical question underlying this debate regarding the degree in which it is possible to abstract the importance of an individual game from the totality of games played over the entire season. Let's assume for the sake of argument that we all agree that 95 points guarantees automatic promotion. Would it matter in the slightest who we beat to achieve those 95 points? Would any of those points represent "bigger" points than the others? At the same time I recognise your point that a victory for City tonight would increase the gap between us and Brentford. So perhaps the "correct" answer to this question is that it is both "the biggest" and "not the biggest" game of the season depending upon the perspective from which one views it. Now if that isn't a proof of the Postmodern world view I don't know what is.

I will add ... 'and also their ego.' Above all others this team and its fans seem to rate themselves so highly. They need their balloon spiking in order to bring them back down to earth. The same way that Bournemouth went.
  47. 2 points
Farke is spot on when he points out that each game is of equal value. Contemplate the claim that the next 5 games are the most important games of the season; would you prefer we beat Brentford but lost the next four or lose to Brentford and won the next four? Of course we know the answer to that, but in both scenarios it shows that the Brentford game would not be the "biggest" game of the season.

I expect us to win, but the beauty is that regardless, the worst off we can be is 4 points clear, and at least that would make things a bit more exciting for the remaining games. But make no mistake, their fans know in their heart of hearts that a draw for them just isn’t enough. Watford are breathing down their neck, and Swansea already go above them if they do the business with their games in hand (if that were the case, then that would make Swansea the 2nd best side in the Championship and not Brentford). There are others threatening their position too, and 3 points is vital for them I feel if they harbour any desire to avoid what they do the worst - the playoffs. They simply cannot afford to lose this game. And that will highly likely play right into our hands. I wouldn’t mind betting we’ll start the game slowly deliberately, letting them come forward just enough to open them up. Get the first goal and then things start becoming a bit more desperate for them. A win for us puts us in a great position, but make no mistake, the onus is far more on Brentford. Can’t wait 😜 I reckon Max Aarons will particularly have a really key role tonight, apparently their Sorensen isn’t exactly the best tackler in the world. I hope for their sakes this Mads Bech Sorensen chap is blessed with a lot of pace and energy, or it’s going to be a very long night for him.

Makes sense... in fact, that’s exactly how football works, isn’t it 😆 Loving the notion of Pukki/Buendi/Cantwell as toothless. They can double-manmark one or both of the latter two but can’t see them managing that while playing their usual game. If they do win, though, it would be their ‘Leeds away’ moment (but without keeping/taking them top, so not really) and should be a sign they might have a fighting chance (no more) if promoted... subject to T&Cs. The likes of Swansea & Bournemouth, on the other hand, do know how to beat Norwich but even they can’t do so consistently - we’ve swapped victories this season with both. (Edit: oops, not replayed Bournemouth yet. Can’t write them off but they’re exactly not on form)
