I thought after 70 mins it was Birmingham who looked tired. BTW Does anyone ever celebrate a win anymore? That's four wins on the bounce 67 points from 32 games (Have we ever had that many before?) If only we could go, enjoy the wins and then celebrate.

So tired that they played a lot better in the second half than the first. šŸ™‚

Nah, a couple of wins and Evans will give him another 5 years, he's playing a blinder šŸ‘

People are aware that the Championship is fairly competitive right? Also the fact it wasn't our best performance, but away from home on a cabbage patch ground out what was a comfortable win in the end? Genuinely not sure what people expect, especially given the horrendous conditions tonight? We're never going to blow teams away every week, but Swansea aside, have never really looked like losing in recent games.

I have to stop posting during the game because I write absolute rubbish when I'm so tense. Please ignore everything I said.

A poster that ought to remain nameless. Gave links in a way that was shameless. Some posters cried 'Nay!' 'To the Club we must pay! ' The perp .. of course,.... he was blameless. Boom boom!.

Having to listen to away commentary some weeks really makes you appreciate Chris Goreham. I always had an inkling that he was pretty good based off of years of listening and the ease at how you could follow the game without seeing it, but now comparing him to every other local commentator he is a clear cut above. He's a very good, knowledgeable, fair and insightful commentator and for me matches aren't as good to watch on ifollow when opposition radio or Phil Daly is on instead

Just had a cursory look at the table and was genuinely surprised at how much GD has swung in our favour recently. Doesn't feel like longer than a couple of weeks ago we were talking about Swansea's and especially Brentford's goal difference being worth an extra point, but doesn't seem like it now. The omens are looking good now, just got to keep it going and look forward to the Brentford game.

No, taken off so Hugill could help with defending their free kick. Hugill wins the header that sets us up for the third

My guess would be Sorenson at CB before Tettey. Tettey now resides in the "break open in case of emergency" category

Sublime substitutions by Farke tonight. Brings on Hugill and Sorensen to counter the height of Brummie subs, Hugill wins a header in our box, out to Rupp (another sub) who powers forward to set up Skipp. Job Done!

The pitch was awful and God knows what it's going to be like with two teams playing on it twice a week. Glad we've gotten Coventry and Birmingham out of the way.

You've got to admire the willingness of Skipp, who basically plays every single minute, busting a gut to get up there for 95th minute tap in. Love him.

Totally agree. Chris is great, and its really obvious when we endure others. Tonights was better than last weeks though.

Were we watching the same game? When we get outplayed at certain stages of the game are we really reaching for the ā€œthey were tiredā€ excuse? Give Birmingham credit, they played well. Overall though we were the better, more clinical side and deserved the win.

We're top of the league with one of the best defensive records around so I'm going to guess yes there is.

I have to thank my usual go to guys for highlighting it. It's a mildly depressing piece as I think a lot of it is correct. Another part which I fear is quite true. "It is frustrating for remainers who still crave a moment of vindication, when the fraud is proved beyond doubt and the tide of opinion turns. But for that to happen, Brexit would have to be measured in terms of trade and diplomacy. Those arenā€™t the leaversā€™ metrics. They long ago swapped economic argument for culture war bluster."

Sorry Hank, I didn't mean you said Farke got lucky. As far as this thread goes I'm sure I remember a few posts, from others, suggesting 'he got away with it'. But the forums issues make it too difficult to look back. My comment at the end was a reference to the posters who put 2018/19 down to luck and all the stars aligning. I think he answers the points about subs honestly in his interview. I don't know why he's not asked more about such things. In the past he's appeared genuinely surprised when asked about tactical stuff but always answers respectfully and honestly. A couple weeks ago it was about not allowing the horizontal pass. I can now see that by the way the players pass and move to beat the press. With regards to players returning from injury and making an impact again I would say judge him on his record. McLean and Krul seemed to make an immediate impact on their return from injury.

OK fair enough on the Corbyn point- but I would say it is pretty clear that from what you're saying that you'd rather a leader that pulls the party more to the left? Which to me would be unwise right now. We tried that with Corbyn and the population didn't respond well. I remember reading a study somewhere that the average voters social attitudes are to the right of the average Tory MP! So Starmer has to work to attract socially conservative voters too- there just aren't enough socially liberal, economically liberal types to win. I get the rage about the general public and their attitudes- I share it at times. But I think you massively overestimate the ability of LOTO to shape that public perception and Starmer can only work with the public he has, not the hypothetical one he might want. My general opinion right now is the path to a Labour majority is somewhere between extremely difficult and borderline impossible due to the situation in Scotland. Getting angry about polls this far out from a general election feels like tilting at windmills, especially when you compare where Labour are in the polls compared to two years ago. The long term is, IMO, about how can Labour building working relationships with SNP, Lib Dems, Plyd Cymry etc etc.

Thanks Parma! Your (two) posts have helped me look at our game plan in a new way. And actually its a kind of pleasure to discover a new way of looking at things. Like the OP, I was certainly one of the (probable) sizeable cohort of fans screaming at the ifollow stream wanting Farke to make those subs. Whilst I have often wondered about his subs over many games I have always forgiven Farke - for he is one of my all time favourite managers. It will help ahead to think of the 1-0 scoreline in a different way and Norwich being like a superbly schooled Italian team. There is a wider point I wanted to mention too because I think the point you've made is about appreciating things. Appreciation is an odd term but one I believe is one of the most powerful things we can all do. Perhaps I'm thinking too much because I've been mulling this over most of the night (sad I realise but that is lockdown). And I've been thinking of Voltaire and a great quote that has struck such a chord with me for the last 20 years"....In appreciation, we make the excellence of others our own property". What has this got to do with football I can almost hear you ask! Yet it does and your points support just that. I think this thread just shows how much every Norwich City fan cares and how much we want us to be a beautiful team. Football is so much about being entertained. You can watch a film and enjoy the action but then that is doubled when you also really listen to the score, to the colours used (I never knew film directors often consider whole colour schemes for every scene...occasionally for the whole film). Thinking about these things trebles enjoyment and...you've guessed it, appreciation. Then, it all becomes your happiness. Quite selfish really! Anyway at risk of being called out as an idiot (and I don't really mind because it I wanted to share a thought) I think there are more ways of looking at a match. I knew that of course already but your thoughtful post has just reminded me to be more much more conscious. Cheers šŸ‘

Abolish the lot of them. Archaic institution with zero value to anything. Totally out of place in modern society. Never understand the royalists who seem so pleased with having them for no obvious reason.... bizarre.

From News Now Toney was absent from the Beesā€™ matchday squad for that defeat to Coventry at the weekend, and speaking after the game,Frank revealedthat the striker could miss the next three or four games with a twisted ankle. As a result, it seems that as well as missing that clash with Sheffield Wednesday, Toney could also absent for his sideā€™s matches at home to Stoke and Rotherham, and their huge clash away to league leaders Norwich City a week on Saturday. Lewis Oā€™Brien targeted

Not sure why Bransonā€™s gender makes any difference - I would also have brought on Dowell, we needed someone to move the ball more quickly through midfield and I think he does that better than Onel or Idah. I thought Onel was really effective when he came on, much more impact than expected - direct, fast, and in the right areas. I guess that is why Farke is a good coach, and I run an U14 boys, and an U11 girls teams.

I think they sell it in Morrisons if i remember rightly... very moreish!

Other than Hernandez the rest of the subs were late and not only did we still win the game, we scored another goal. Again, maybe Farke REALLY does know what he's doing!

Totally agree. Scoring 10 goals whilst conceding 2 having come off the back of an alleged "wobble" is pretty damn impressive.

Well, we've been very poor haven't we. Totally underwhelming. Amazing Teemu goal aside. Birmingham easily the better team. Serves us right their equaliser. Farke will be furious at HT.

Thanks for sharing that Nutty - an interesting table, but I think you might be conflating the issues a little bit. Firstly, I specifically singled out Farke for praise in my OP for his use of substitutions in situations where we are chasing the game. I never described it as 'luck', and I don't think any other poster who has contributed here has described Farke as lucky in these spots either - that would just be unfair. Secondly, I respect our overall record in the closing period of matches is really good, but this will largely be due to those situations where we have needed to score. Particularly early in the season where late goals against Huddersfield, Wycombe, Sheff Weds, Birmingham, Rotherham, Preston, Brentford, Swansea (off the top of my head), saw us either steal a draw or bag the 3 points late on. Although I did already feel that overall our game management has been good, my OP was specifically in regard to the games where we took an early lead, couldn't put it to bed but then lost momentum towards the end. I thought a more willing use of like-for-like subs may help to mitigate this, but as Parma explained it is a deliberate action to stifle the opposition - so such a change would not affect the overall flow. That said, the point that remains a tad unclear for me is the use of subs for rotation and the match sharpness of our bench players, and I would maintain my belief that a more willing use of the bench in winning spots COULD have seen players like Hernandez, Dowell, Idah, Mumba and even Rupp come in to better form (yes I know they've also been injured). I respect why Farke hasn't done this, and no criticisms from me as we are clearly still doing the business! However, I'm not sure I would feel confident about any of these guys coming in and making an immediate impact if we happen to be chasing a game in the coming round of fixtures.

Yeah, it's not your fault, or your device, it's this forum (shock horror). Basically it's trying to store a cookie-file that's too large.
