Have been following this thread from day one, and today i received my first dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccination, so kind of brings it to life for me. At the time of writing (3.5 hours after the jab), no ill effects.......

This thread is about Simon Hooper not the laudable job amateur refs do in facilitating lower pyramid and youth football. Hooper is an example of the scarcity of refs allegedly good enough at this level. He is on the select list - a professional referee- making it back onto Prem games have twice been removed from prem appointments . Most infamously for us was the Palace game in 2015 (his first ever) where his performance was so bad he was immediately removed and did not officiate in the Prem again until 2018 . In 2018 He did 2 games . Why only 2 ? We can only guess From 2020 he is on the Prem. if you look at his appointments you will see a general lack of getting the “top six “ teams . Unusually for an experienced ref on the list, he still gets more EFL games than prem. This suggests POGMOL still don’t rate him after all of these years . Go to soccerbase.com and compare him to , say , Andre Marriner who rarely steps down from the Prem . Hooper enjoys support of POGMOL but only to a point . As I say they are not giving him the big games . Hooper tries to climb the ladder by giving percentage decisions . The fouls on Pukki and their striker last night that should be pens , are given on the half way line . He gave more decisions to the defending team in their half because it is less controversial. He missed a clear corner simply because he had his angles wrong . He was inconsistent in his yellows. His “speaking to cooper” made him look weak. He had been called by the 4th , and did nothing - only a slight smirk as he walked away. Among 22 elite athletes he looks ridiculously overweight and unfit and more often than not is behind play - the refs call this “reffing from the centre circle”. Hoopers only saving grace is that there aren’t enough Refs on a standard acceptable to POGMOL so they have to stick with him on Champ and lower reach Prem.

Well done Mr Apples. I make that £27.01 added to the presentation pot.👏👍

I think that certain media sources have acted irresponsibly this week, there should be no talk of easing lockdown for some weeks yet.

Looks a little light defensively (and I don't think Hanley has done much wrong to be dropped). 🙄

Perfect, thanks. As someone with a young family I recently took ownership of a second hand Kia Sportage. I hope I don't come to regret not asking for your advice first.

I'd think twice before writing Pukki off and saying he's 'lost it'. A lot of people, myself included, were saying this last season but he has come good again this season and probably will again.

Yes assuming things continue as expected regarding infection rates and vaccination program late April early May. This whole vaccine passport thing is a potential nightmare. All the old codgers ****ing off to Ibiza for some partying with the young guns left at home working to pay for their pensions.

I am rather hoping that the fine Leaver minds on this thread can produce some positive news. The MSM including the Express, Mail and Telegraph are full of negative stories related to Brexit. Surely, it can't be all bad news?

Excellent. Sane & balanced. The only think I might add is that we shouldn't underestimate how much of a surprise package we were 2 seasons ago & now every team sets up to negate us before doing anything else. I suspect that's a large part of SheffU's problem. I think there's little alternative but to battle on & trust the sharpness & confidence will return. Still a long way to go yet & I think (well hope anyway) that will be the case & as a consequence results will improve. Onward & upward!

Are you still showering with the players Jez?

But he was around the squad and did well. We have a wealth of experience on the bench but how many are playing well or in form? I can recall at least 2 matches this season where Martin came off the bench and positively influenced the match and a couple of starts in which he looked very decent. I can’t really recall the same of some more experienced players.

Yeah, in the cold light of day I can see that Hooper's performance was very poor last night. I'll always try to stick up for referees where I can, but on this occasion I was a bit overzealous in defending him. @Crabbycanary3 and @Graham Paddons Beard both made a lot of salient points.
  15. 2 points
To be honest I think he has had enough chances in the last three games combined to have at least scored one.

Quashqui was superb and offered unparalleled performance in the suburban environment. Dussindale velour is a far cry from the potted and mottled tundras of South Norfolk however and thus Dacia was really the only choice. We're running the Duster Ambiance Prime in Beige Dune - it wants for nothing. Best, TG

To be clear this a question for you True Grit, not Moxey, who I imagine is more of a Ford Focus kind of guy.

This will look like hindsight. I should have posted at the time I had the thought! A few weeks ago some posters were saying we would murder a side soon, and I mentally demurred. That isn't really, for good or ill, the way we are set up and the way we play. This isn't at all a perfect comparison (not least because we don't defend the same way) but it is not unlike Italian football of that era when teams aimed to win 1-0. We are content to not bombard the opposition goal but play the ball around loking for that perfect moment. It is the polar opposite of the old Wimbledon POMO theory of getting the ball in the opposition penalty area as often as possible and hoping the pressure will lead to a goal. A plan with very few moving parts and workable even if individuals have a loss of form. By contrast our plan involves loads of moving parts and is at risk if key individuals lose form or are unavailable.

I love these thanks Twidio. They look nailed on to me. I've placed them with Bet 365 where the potential return is £33.38. Here are the details... Partizan 1/7 16:00 Sat Grasshoppers 1/3 17:15 Sat Rangers 1/10 12:00 Sun AC Milan 2/9 14:00 Sun Olympiakos 2/9 15:15 Sun Zagreb 1/3 16:00 Sun Two tomorrow and four on Sunday. It's going to be great following these and I can't see beyond a double winning week for us PUPs. Good luck Ryan and all you PUPs🤞🍀💪

Thanks for the heads up 👍 I can get Channel 4 here, looks like I'll be having a few work at home days 😎

Pretty likely. But I’ll happily take second - and think that’s where we will mostly probably end up. But surely Brentford can’t keep this up for the rest of the season? They’re bound to have a couple of blips along the way which will keep things tight at the top. Must say I am enjoying the profits as I keep sticking them on to win after they go a goal down 😆

No doubt Brentford will come back to win 6-1 of course. It seems to be a bad idea to take an early lead against them at the moment.

If a professional like TG gives his verdict on a 4x4 we should sit up and listen. He's been out there doing the hard yards with the boy scouts in the back of his ride, when TG speaks, I listen.

Sorry Cap'n missed your thread. Apologies.

Hopefully Emi will grow up, develop as a footballer and learn not to respond to provocation. (In this regard he could learn a lot from Cantwell who is also targetted a lot by the opposition).

It all really depends upon the terms of trade. It would appear ownership passed to the importer in this case I would guess at the fish auction as would be expected.

Her non-apology apology is fascinating in the way she attempts to shift blame away from her cretinous self: “I was allowed to believe things that weren’t true.'' Allowed?

The bookies agree with you. Latest Promotion odds from Betfair have Brentford as favourites, us second favourites and Swansea a fair way behind as third favourites.

He wouldn't have been around the squad in the first place if it wasn't for all the injuries. Now we've got the majority of our players fit again, there's just not room for him... look at the experience we had on the bench last night! Barden, Zimmermann, Giannoulis, Mumba, Tettey, Dowell, Vrancic, Hernandez, Idah... I guess Mumba is the only one there who Martin might be preferred to? His time will come, but probably not this season unless we get another spate of injuries.

Il Pirata is one of the numpties who have nailed their colours to attacking Cantwell for some weird reason. The fact that he attacks Cantwell, after Todd was our best player last night shows just how out of touch with reality he is.

Close of play on a quintuple Nelson. I shall now have to stand on one leg until resumption of play tomorrow. All true fans will do likewise.

I have already said that was in direct response to a post (which was quoted) suggesting we shouldn’t stop lockdown until we have fewer than 1,000 infections a day. All those countries you refer to didn’t have vaccines, so they needed to prioritise extensive infection control. I agree infection control is important but only to the extent it impacts hospitalisation. We have huge numbers of flu infections, common cold, various other things every single year. They don’t cause hospitals to be overwhelmed . But let’s remember flu can kill tens of thousands even with vaccines. Before flu jabs, in the lifetime of many posters on here, 80,000+ people died in single flu seasons not all that uncommonly. It’s highly dangerous, yet we live with high levels of infections because jabs help us keep hospitalisations down. So infections per se aren’t the issue. Of course, without vaccines, reducing the number of infections was the only way we could keep hospitalisations down. But with vaccines, we can live with a higher level of infections and still not have hospitals being overwhelmed.

Josh Martin, this season, is not the answer. The answer is getting Dowell and Hernandez up to to match fitness asap, playing Vrancic deeper, and keeping Buendia's toys in the pram!

this. Was busy last night. Why he was with the under 23's and not us is another question however..

Nailed it. I've said this for years. Also, I'd like to see referees mic'd up. Not only would it allow fans to hear referees justify their decisions, it would let us hear the nonsense they have to put up with. Players may also think twice if they knew their friends, families and children were listening and they'd probably be ashamed of themselves when they heard themselves back after a game.

This is a joke right? Coopers 3-5-2 more than matched our 4-5-1. Second half they sat back and let us have the ball after the second goal.

A few weeks ago there were threads saying that we were better than 2018/19. Now we've lost our mojo, we're not a patch on the side of 2018/19. Two years ago, people complained that our defence wasn't solid enough. Now, people are complaining that our attack isn't productive enough. Who wins the Championship with a brilliant attack that scores 2+ goals a game, and a brilliant defence that concedes less than a goal a game? Find me one example. Maybe this management game is actually quite difficult, and Daniel Farke is doing a pretty good job? Just a thought.

We were bang average against a better team, yes. That has a lot to do with Buendia, because he's the man that turns us from a good team into an excellent one.
  48. 1 point
That sometimes you lose? That you can't win every game? That no team, ever in the history of the Championship has not lost a game? That we're still top (admittedly, for now at least)? You choose.

Cheers ICF. I intend to be much more of a forum "minimalist" in the future! The Mirror picks up really quickly on stories or scientist opinion I find ....and someone there must be a keen chart person because they do love a table and a graph. Good that the timetable seems on track and it's just about supply rather than our ability (which appears very very encouraging and shows up the best in people). In terms of the latter, how nice it must be to be a health worker / nurse and do something really positive like vaccinate folk (and get such great feedback from the public in so doing). It must be restorative as an experience when they have faced such constant pressure.
