Bl00dy typical. Delia tells the boy Farke to spend time on PR stunts when he should be spending all his time signing a centre back, finding a formation that enables us to score more goals than the opposition and developing a cure for Covid-19 so that Adam Idah is available for the Rotherham game. I'm not re-newing my season ticket.

Brilliant. Nice to see the club reaching out to people. I'm not surprised though cos that's the Norwich way !!!!!!

Tommy Robson (a Peterborough legend) sadly passed away this week. Why would you mention him I hear you ask..... Tommy was the player on the receiving end of Kevin Keelans famous left hook when he was playing for Northampton Town. He started out with Newcastle and the team picture below shows Tommy along with two players who later joined us, Albert Bennett and Ollie Burton. I believe Albert and Tommy remained close friends throughout their lives until Albert passed a couple of years ago. I believe 'Smith must score' knew Tommy, I wondered if that punch was ever mentioned in conversation.

Yes that's the path for Starmer. Tell people we are about to hit an iceberg unless the Government takes immediate action, and then be in place to organize the lifeboats and rescue afterwards. He can also help head off the power grab that all authoritarian cabals try and make in a crisis. For the Tories, they will have to rely on their media friends to explain that it's only a small iceberg nobody could have reasonably seen, that the EU towed it into the ocean, but in any case it will melt by the Summer so everything is going to plan. Everyone should just stay in place while they sort out which officer will become Captain. Oh and tickets for the lifeboat are available for sale.

Sinani has a brace already. Still got plenty of time to complete his hatty for Luxembourg

Absolutely, because none of the other goals scored in the Championship this season have come from defensive mistakes by the opposition. Only ours...

I'm not really sure what the point is. Very few clubs sign young players who instantly are ready for the first team, without spending 10s of millions even at this level. If we were happy with midtable this season then it would be easier to integrate these youngsters and give them game time but how many on here would be happy with that? Few if any, I reckon. Its hardly surprising that they'll go out on loan for at least a season.

Yeah I did. Wasn't impressed to be honest, thought it was very poor. A few moments of promise but much of it was very bland and not particularly imaginative or funny.

Nonsense. Count the number of goalie errors in a season, then count the number of slips on penalties. On top of that, there are far more undercooked backpasses - they don't all have to lead to goals. When Idah scored his, he just took advantage of it. Beckham, Terry, Pukki - about the only three slips on penalties I can vaguely remember in years as opposed to being a clean connection that was saved or off target. Put it in perspective, Pickford's made 5 errors leading to goals in the Premiership since the start of last season, and that's just one goalie in the Premiership. According to the Premiership stats last season, 47 goalie errors lead to goals. I don't think you'll find any specific stats for penalties missed due to slipping when hitting it, but as a rule of thumb, you're generally looking at 70-75% of penalties going in. If you were to compare to a total of missed penalties, I'd think you're about right. But missed as the standing leg gave way? That's very rare.

This is my problem with our sucession planning; Last year we signed Sam M, Melvin Sitti and lets add Daniel Sinani to that. We obviously wanted to stay in the Premier League and had we, I could understand these three going on loan. However dropping to the Champ surely these to be utilised, not re-loaned. Promotion as to be our aim, if we get promoted, these 3 are back to sqaure one. To add insult to injury, we've now got one fit (loaned) left back and a struggle to put the ball in the back on the net. If the answer is, they're not good enough then you have to question the investment we have made.

Exactly. Some errors are far more crass than others, so saying we only scored from an error and dressing it up as a bad thing, which was what @CDMullins said, is a little bit moot. Misplaced pass = error. Let your man run on = error. Mistime a jump = error. Fumble a bouncing skidder into your net = crass error. Relatively few goals are scored against settled defences (and Egil Olsen knew all about that as that was the prime rationale for him coining his long ball style of play with a wide target man to terrorise small full backs). Consider errors to be the result of pressure exerted during the game. Errors can be legislated for. Losing the standing leg on a penalty is outside that. Doesn't happen very often at all.

What you see is what you get with Daniel Farke, that is very evident. A nice gesture to make some of our deserving key workers week. I love that he’s our manager, I’ve never heard a previous manager say before that their blood runs yellow and green. And it’s genuine, no question, he’s one of us, not just another coach who’s here as a stepping stone. He may not get everything right, but that’s ok with me - a faultless manager or coach or indeed human being just does not exist. I believe we will win at Rotherham, no matter who leaves in the coming days. The transfer window will close and the noise will die down. He is the man to get us back on track after a disappointing campaign that personally I don’t think any coach in world football would have navigated with ease. Nothing but total respect for the bloke.

Wikipedia reckons it’s now Hoolahan with 42 caps between 2012 and 2017 whilst with us. Bowen had 41 caps in total but a few not with us by the looks of things.

"I suppose if the academy can wash its own face through loan fees and more modest sales of those who don’t quite make it and then deliver a couple of first team candidates each season and the occasional big sale then it’s more than doing its job." Exactly, a quiet revolution has taken place at the club over the past few seasons. Firmed up by the bond issue, the ensuing improvements facilitated by this, the appointment of a loans mananger and the obvious upturn in aquiring promising youngsters from here, there and everywhere; to the extent that even the most fervent follower must lose track, it is my considered opinion that, along with our tremendous support, the NCFC Youth Policy is our proudest boost. We rank among the elite twenty or so clubs with Academy 1 status:

The other point about having an academy, which I don't think has been made so far, is that if you don't have one, or if it is not well regarded in the game, then these players, some of whom will turn out to be worthwhile, will go to the academies of rival clubs. I have seen some off the wall arguments on this message-board but questioning the overall wisdom and the actual results of our youth policy is one I hadn't expected to see.

    Not so hard to pinpoint Norwich England caps ...as there havent been.a huge amount?! Watson - 6 caps Woods - 4 Barham - 2 Reeves - 1 Boyer - 1 Green - 1 Ruddy - 1

I think Phil Boyer was our first English player to be called up......think he played in what was called the England B team, but I might be wrong there.

  39. 1 point
To be fair, considering Farke just pulled in forty million wallet-sized queenies in this window alone from developing defenders in Lewis and Godfrey, and probably has another twenty million in Aarons, he's probably earned the right to say when he thinks a defender in the youth team is ready to make the step up.
  40. 1 point
That is probably the most stupid post I've ever read. We made £45m from the Murphy's and Maddison which paid for the promotion winning squad which included loads of our own talent. Idah and Martin are first team players without even being out of their teens. If anything the conveyor belt seems to be ramping up even more.
  41. 1 point
I am necessarily against it. It cuts both ways. It gives us a chance to get in on loan players from the Premier League, but also gives them more time to tempt away Cantwell or Buendia or Aarons or all three (and, no, I don't think all three will go). Just as a possible (stressing the 'possible') example Leeds can if they want go after Cantwell, and take their time sorting it out, because the deal for Cuisance, the Bayern Munich player, fell through late on.
