Sad to hear of the early death of the founder of one of the greatest ever British bands. Much better than the AOR band that took its name

I'm not aiming this at you personally Parma, but this is the sort statement that really makes me angry. Most top level footballers make more in a year than the average wage earner in the UK manages in 20, so a decade of these earnings is the equivalent of 200 years work for the average person! What's even more frustrating is the idea that once a player has retired, they're suddenly unable to do ANY OTHER JOB and instead have to rely on the money they've made in their pro careers - where does this nonsense come from???? Even on a 'mere' 10k a week, these guys are literally coining it in, and we're meant to accept the BS that 10-15 years of this sort of money is somehow only just enough for them to survive on post-football? Since when did earning millions over a pro career of 10-20 years make you both a pauper and completely unable to work afterwards? Hard life for some isn't it.......

I certainly hope so, otherwise I was going home to the wrong bungalow for about 15 years. 😀

Just over six years ago the Scots were told repeatedly that the only way they could keep EU membership was to remain in the UK - since then England has removed Scotland from the EU. The outlook has deteriorated for most European countries so nothing unusual there, indeed almost all countries around the world, but virtually all economists and economic bodies are forecasting that the UK will be the worst affected in the Western world. I would say that the Scots have every reason to believe that their future would be much brighter outside the UK and released from the control of this most incompetent government - and actually it doesn't really matter what we think, the polls are now showing quite consistently that it is what most Scots already believe, and with every trip that the idiot Johnson makes to Scotland I'm pretty sure that lead will increase further 🤣

I really hope this is not the case as i am a great admirer of him despite the second half of the PL season. I really think he can make a valuable contribution with us in the championship. Clearly what i do not know is what he wants, what his family wants and what Norwich want. At his age he probably will only have one more decent payday, Norwich could get a fee and he was free but it would cost a lot to replace the Pukki of the championship season and he is fit and must have a good 2 or 3 seasons left in him. Some may want to cut and run with him but i for one hope he stays

From what I understand a lot of Turkish transfers are done by third party agents. That is agents that don’t actually work for the club or the player but try to make a transfer happen and then get a cut. I think this is why there are lots of rumours as these guys pump lots of stuff around to see what might stick. That is certainly the case in Portugal. If it is a real link I can see it tempting Pukki. He’s got one more big contract in him before he retires and 30 is often an age players look to move to get that big deal before it all starts to slide. Most well run clubs avoid these types of players so it is increasingly forcing them to explore new territories. Hence why we’ve seen a lot of older European players heading out to Japan again. I’m sure Pukki’s agent will have been contacted by various clubs to sound him out - but I feel it would be hard for any club to agree a fee with Norwich that both parties are happy with. On one hand I feel it very unlikely Pukki will leave - everything seems a good fit for him at Norwich currently and he seems the kind of guy who values that. On the other hand he may feel he’s achieved all he can with the club and have the urge to play top flight football somewhere while he still has the chance.

Magnanimous as ever. Thank you John. Subject to the profitability league, £30 will be winging its way to Nutty Ash.

I hadnt realised that was your pick. I would rather the bet was still alive and I'd won it on merit. Well done for taking it to the wire and all the laughs too. All it needs now is a congratulatory message from @TIL 1010 and the PUPs will be £30 better off.....

Turkish media are awful. They link every club with every player under the sun. Wouldn't read too much into it (from someone who lived there and followed fenerbahce for several years after I came back).

It would be a novelty for Norwich to score at all but don't try it as Paddy will probably send the men in white coats round to have you sectioned 😀

A bit of an impressionistic ramble around the subject of the UK and it's historical relations globally but no less interesting for it. Michael White explores how the UK is moving away from the EU, as well as trying to adapt to rather uncomfortable relations with Russia, China and even the US. Damning on the seeming lack of strategy and emerging isolationism... All at a time when a long term geo-political strategy is arguably never more urgent. https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/top-stories/where-does-the-uk-stand-internationally-1-6761191 You wonder if Johnson will yet go down in history for presiding over: * A no deal Brexit and economic turbulence * Catastrophic economic collapse and record unemployment / civil unrest following a poor response to the pandemic * Break up of the union (300 plus years)

My 200 was optimistic. It turns out all these loud individuals who want Delia out (600 in the group) couldn't muster more than £110 between the lot of them. *trying not to laugh*

Short one, but might be a bit tricky for some Can you name the three clubs who were relegated in 1994 All clues apply to one or more clubs - Play in red Joe Royle Red rose The Warden Cricket Dylan White rose Simon Templar None a City, but all three are two words I'll post up the answer to the clubs; and the clues before kick off tomorrow (at 3.30) so could you wait until then so as other 'bored' supporters can have a go, ta

From PUPs thread... Citeh score and Pukki misses a pen in the 1st half. Onel makes it 1-1 then Zimbo scores to put us ahead 2-1 with a few mins left. Krul gets a yellow in 94th minute for time wasting. When he finally launches it upfield Idah makes it 3-1. Result. If Carlsberg did the Norwich game...

I seem to remember that when he arrived Teemu did say that he had better financial offers elsewhere so he isn’t completely led by money.

Sorry I’m not sure what point you’re making. Parma said footballers have a decade to make their money. Indy bones went on an off topic rant about top level footballers. I said to be fair to Parma, he didn’t mention top level footballers, he just said footballers. So whilst I’d agree neither of your examples is particularly relevant, I’m not really sure what your point is?

Kent, the lorry park of England. 😀 https://www.kentonline.co.uk/ashford/news/the-reality-of-brexit-is-now-hitting-home-230749/ Rick Martin, chairman of Sevington with Finberry parish council, says people are concerned about what effect the project will have on house prices and quality of life. He said: "Brexit was the will of local people – 59% in Ashford voted Leave, in line with 59% in Kent overall – and many are now sadly realising the reality of what their vote entailed for their local area. ........................................................... To those who voted against this commiserations. To those who voted for it, you won, get over it.

So , let me get this right, thats Tillo with the helmet and Baton and thats Lakeyo ,pre cork hat days of course , behind the car.? You did have fun lads. I have no doubt some of them were great lads and lasses. From what I have gleaned it went from a Hippy love/peace and social housing ideology to anarchistic mayhem in around 5 years. ....a bit like most governments then. I didnt leave the Forces till 84, so when I went to have a look around,in autumn 84, it was already well on the slide. I was offered a cup of tea by one householder and accused of being an undercover cop by another.

I'm concerned they think i'm like their only obstacle from outing Delia FTW - I've learnt today one of them has screenshotted stuff i've posted on twitter and shared it to their private Delia Out group etc. I mean, it's not a problem but if they think i'm the only thing in the way of us getting a stinking rich chinese owner they're gonna be really, really disappointed. 😂

Must keep Pukki, he'll find his shooting boots again next season.

It probably depends on how he and his family like living in Norwich. Footballing wise, it has been the highlight of his career and the fact that he took that form into international games for Finland, so he may love us enough to want to stay. I hope so, on form he is a superb player, able to score, assist and work hard for the team. We need him.

I think MK Dons is a good move. He's obviously familiar with the club. Russ will look after him. I think if he stays injury free and has a consistent run in the first team, there's no reason he can't be a championship striker. Good luck to him 👍

I'm not sure drink does that to people. Maybe he used to live down Argyle st. and is having a flashback . As for Tillo saying he thought Lakeyos account had been hacked, it reads more like Lakeyo hacked Freddos account. Did you ever live on Argyle st Lakeyo?

1985 ban had nothing to do with Leeds fans. The Bayern Munich final was a decade before, those loveable scamps from the north west of England may be to blame slightly.

Sorry guys, don’t misinterpret me, UV levels certainly have an impact on the longevity of the virus, the issue comes in close communities where hygiene & segregation is an issue. This has a bigger impact on the spread of the virus. Secondly the immune response in warm weather climate, where poor hygiene standards are tends to be stronger, possibly the immune system is more hardy! I don’t know, just surmising. All I know is the bits I get told, one being that there are a few vaccines which are showing real promising results, the rich countries are buying the first doses to ensure their population are treated, vulnerable first, but also mustn’t be overlooked the significant number of vaccines destined to poorer nations. As for the proven to be safe, sorry that’s not entirely correct, the Oxford vaccine has been tested in the phase where over a thousand patients have been treated without any significant side effects, some have shown fevers and smaller issues, but not long term. The next phase oh larger number is now in process. Its pretty likely that the vaccine will be used from November onwards, the financial pressure on all countries is now impacting on lives more significant than Covid, just to point out June figure for UK average deaths is 6% down on the average, basically showing that some who died of Covid would have died of other causes by the end of June, July looks to be the same or better. I’m not saying this with certainty but with the knowledge of my friend in GSK. I think we should be cautious but hopeful, don’t believe all the ****e the press, there’s good news in treatments and vaccines, those who are working on them whichever country should be fully applauded by us all. There are a lot of fringe scientists who just want to get their name in the limelight and some should be gagged!

Finally...a thread with a few posters on this forum who see how it really is...ive been banging this drum for a long time. This is the true reality..other than Everton every club in the Prem outside the big 5 or 6 are on borrowed time. Many these days also yo yo spending vast more amounts of money than City...take Villa as example. We are undoubtedly the Premier top two divisions yo yo club, but we do it with a financial model thats unlike most other clubs, its had a wobble or two in the last decade but we now have, in DF and SW, a partnership that gets what NCFC are about, making good financial gain from getting in and blooding, then selling, good young players. Some may think we should change, spend a enormous amount of money from a rich benefactor...but there is hardly a single proven case that this route can buy you into a long term stay in the Premiership, never mind being on a par with the Manchesters or Chelsea's.. This is why i believe Farke and Webber should stay as long as they want..time itself will move them and bring others in anyway...as it will with Delia and Michael..but NCFC should always be here, run in a way that keeps it alive and in its current form its being run in a positive way.

There are no clubs that can maintain this stable premier league club fantasy some have. The ones that are there now are just biding their time. Remember when Stoke and Swansea and Sunderland and all sorts where nice and stable and we’re prepping for long term futures in the top flight. Even money doesn’t seem to matter. The sainted Bournemouth, who seem to have hidden the fact they are backed by a billionaire, are going down with us. If you are a Wolves or a Burnley you may think you are safe and sound but you are just renting your position in this league. Take Sheffield United, Excellent season and fair play to them, but it’s going to go wrong, probably sooner rather than later.

In the absence of rich benefactors every club has a rough place in the footballing food chain. Ours seems to be top half of the championship with odd forays into the PL resulting in a rapid return to the championship. If something goes exceptionally right or wrong the PL stay may be a bit longer or we can fall into League 1. I would take that , most seasons there is something interesting going on. When relatives were still around i used to go and see Carlisle their place in the said chain is league 1 if things are going well, league 2 most of the time, Conference when the wheels come off. Be happy with our lot, it could be better but also a lot worse and the main thing is we have a club
