Well, here we go folks. I had compiled a shortlist on Monday, and I think all bar one of those I selected have been mentioned by someone on here. My form has been so poor this season at even getting one right, it'd be a lovely twist of fate if fortune smiles on us this weekend. I've whizzed Eddie an extra tenner, so I think we'll have a crack at two sets of six - half a dozen 'bankers', and then a more speculative 'bonkers' six. If they all come in, I'll be cursing myself for not doing a twelvefold... 🙂 THE BANKERS Barcelona v Levante (1/7) Liverpool v Southampton (1/4) Galatasaray v Kayserispor (1/7) Dortmund v Union Berlin (2/9) Lazio v SPAL (2/9) PSG v Montpellier (1/7) THE BONKERS Udinese v Inter (7/10) King's Lynn v Kidderminster (4/6, my pick) Dundee United v Arbroath (2/5) Leeds v Wigan (1/3) Man Utd v Wolves (11/10) Barrow v Torquay (4/7) The bankers should be in the region of 1.8/1, and the bonkers should be around 16.4/1. Let's do this!

I mean, you have to love our fans sometimes. Despite getting promoted, no, winning the title on a shoe string budget with several of our youth academy players getting regular action, so far this season some of our fans think: - Farke has no man management - Farke has no squad management - Farke has no tactical ability - Farke cant make subs 😂😂

Don't know about irony but I heard that Coronavirus is best taken with Lime Disease.

I'm fairly confident that it's because it isn't ironic. In any way. Great thread Paul.

It's not "for whatever reason" he wasn't given a chance. The reason was that Farke, who watches him day in day out, didn't think he was up to it. A 34 year old Tettey (who's had a bit of a second wind) was deemed a better choice. Hard to argue with, to be honest.

I don’t understand the comments of he wasn’t given a chance. The players are given a chance every single day in training matches. It’s up to them to perform and force their way into the side. Farke clearly didn’t see enough from him in training to believe he should be playing

The towering centre-back revealed that he had considered going into teaching during interviews two years ago, after he was signed on a free transfer by his former Borussia Dortmund II boss Daniel Farke. Now with a Premier League career set to begin - once he's fully recovered from minor knee surgery in the next couple of weeks - Zimmermann has revealed he could have ended up playing in the second tier in Denmark. "Two years ago I was studying teaching," the German explained. "I was also in talks with a club in Denmark but they had just been relegated to the second league, so I wasn't thinking about that. "I was thinking about staying in Germany and doing a serious job. I had played five years in the lower tiers in Germany, so I thought I should focus on my future. "There were two options: study in Dortmund, which means my fiancée would have to pay the rent. Option two was Denmark but I had second thoughts about it. Then Farke texted me to find out if I had a new club. https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/zimmermann-could-have-joined-danish-side-1-6201180

What are Paul's views on the misuse of irony?

This feels like one of the worse days of my life. I understand why there are arguments about being a sovereign nation, but really all you need to do is watch Edd Balls "Travels in Euroland" to see where we have gone wrong and how populism can rise and poison the minds of vulnerable people. I dont blame those that voted leave, I blame the media and the politicians ( some are both } that drip fed a narrative of lies, what have we done!!

My very last ever contribution to this topic. What a shame that these idiots couldn't just go quietly. They won't make too much fuss as the pension hits the bank account.

Yep, c'mon Paul Moyo, explain the irony to us eeejits , who despite understanding the meaning of the word irony , fails to see how it applies I this case. Are we all thick and you are the smart fella who knows but wont say.....is that the irony?

Is one of them Alanis Morrisette? Then it could be ironic. She might have to swallow a Jagged Little Pill. You oughta know Paul.

Like I said, I feel like I'm missing relevant information here as to how it's ironic. Either that or I'm not entirely sure you're using the right word Paul...

Reminds me of 1999 when I was called a 'little englander' by a fellow Brit when I expressed my view that we should never adopt the euro to my german boss in Hamburg. It seems that history certainly shows in this case that 'little englanders' are far superior in commonsense than remoaners.

Quite a few clubs interested apparently, so let’s hope this is correct - not just Liverpool monitoring his progress, but Paris St Germain too. Must admit, I find our transfer business a lot more interesting these days than back in the times of Steven Naismith and others who’s names we’d nearly always had heard of previously.

For sure, he would have had no time at all for today's little Englanders but then history has never been the Brexiteers' strong point, not even of their own country never mind the rest of the world.

They have done brilliantly, but once things go wrong, which they will, they will be left in a mess. It's just a matter of time. Our model is built on stability, consistency and not boom m bust. Slow and steady wins the race

Of course that is not the view of the FT. It is only the view of a historian as an outside columnist, allowed to do so since the FT believes in giving space to opinions it does not at all share. The actual view of the FT on Brexit comes in its leading article, which could not remotely be regarded as welcoming a Happy Brexit Day. instead the leader specifically warns against just the kind of potentially ruinous trade deal with the EU the goverrnment says it wants: There is little point in trying to 'level up' UK regions while pursuing divergence from EU standards that would hobble industries that are vital to regional economies. It makes no sense to pursue a bare-bones trade deal with Britain's largest and nearest partner - the EU - in the hope of reaping benefits from a vaunted agreement with the US that may prove illusory. And the FT is hardly alone in this view. The Washington Post carries an article today from Carl Bildt, the former (right-wing) Swedish prime minister (so someone who knows what they are talking about when it comes to the EU and economics and trade) that itemises all the trade advantages the UK is giving up and the high unlikelihood of making up the loss.

We also gave them almost all of our fishing industry and many of our businesses while importing their criminals. A terrible deal indeed.

Shows you just how good our scouting and recruitment was in this case doesn't it? Any cretin can look at the goal scoring stats and say 'lets go out and buy the top scorer in the Championship' and pay a fee above £20 million for the privilege.

Plenty of those types of players at every club. There are quite a few in the Norwich team currently. Like King Canary I do worry about Farke’s man management at times. With limited resources Farke needs to get the best out of every member of the squad - and writing off a player due to a falling out or something is poor resources management. What if the next player Farke falls out with is someone like Buendia or Pukki and they disappear from the team?

They have definitely done far far far better than us without doing a Villa or a Fulham... Shows what can be done with sensible investment

Reports are he’s signed a pre-contract to move in the summer. Wouldn’t be surprised if Norwich are working on a deal to bring that forward to this window (which is what they did with Sitti), but if they can get agreeable terms they’ll just wait until the summer.

I don't 'hate' any other clubs. Some I dislike - that's all. 'Hate' is an awful trait.
