Gone to MK Dons until end of season. Fingers crossed for him that he can stay fit for a bit and get some football under his belt. Hopefully we can send the Norfolk Cafu a few more players to bolster his squad when we want to send them out on loan

Teemu was just awarded as Finnish Athlete of Year 2019. A trophy which includes athletes from all the sports. He was actually participating the gala in person and had very visible Norwich City pin on his chest. More merch sales brewing here in Finland.. 😉

Great news. Not for the fans though. Its not their fault. Certainly paints our model and financial situation in a good way.

Brexiters are welcome to trumpet tiny pieces of good news. But as that FT article states, the overriding picture in the motor trade is of international investment being at best delayed and at worst halted/scrapped. And the picture is the same with investment from overseas in UK business and industry generally. There are two political truths about Brexit. The UK is leaving the world's largest single market and around 60 trade deals the EU has negotiated on our behalf around the world. By definition any trade deal the EU offers the UK has to be markedly worse in terms of our economy. Secondly, unless that trade deal gets the UK out from under EU rules and regulations in a significant and visible way, and the more significant and visible the worse for the UK the deal will be, then Brexit voters will start to wonder what was the point.

Thanks, qualification really has been such a huge thing for all of us football fans in here. It was live award show, so he was actually let to fly to Finland to receive the award. But his walking looked all good, no limping 😉 He was actually just 3rd footballer ever to win that award. Ones before have been Jari Litmanen and Sami Hyypiä, so he is in good company.

What has Drmic done wrong? He's a quality player. Makes no sense to critisize someone for being injured.

I’m really surprised that a number of people want to bench our second highest scorer and most creative player after Buendia. Yes Cantwell can frustrate at times but he scores goals, we are a team that desperately needs goals so benching him makes no sense to me. Plus he was one of the few players who I personally thought didn’t go missing against United.

Love Todd, he's certainly not yet the finished article, and occasionally naive and sometimes frustrating.....He will improve, whether that be with us or at pastures new....... Like Mr Maddison, enjoy Todd whilst it lasts......I want him to go onto better things......I'm pretty sure he will.......

I don't know, but in the Championship my ticket works out just over £20 a game which I'm more than happy with.
  13. 2 points
Why would they loan him back to you?
  14. 2 points
Because of Pukkis age he isnt going to command a massive fee. Equally for how we play we know just how important he is to us. As things stand hes probably worth more to us than anyone is willing to pay.

I always think it's a bit of a misnomer to talk about the no 10 for this current City side. Reason being that our attacking formation is so fluid and the players are so interchangeable in the attacking positions they take up (particularly Todd and Emi) that you can't really pigeonhole them as right winger/left winger/no 10 in the way that you could for many other teams. (Hernandez does tend to stay out wide a lot more when he's playing though).

I am still amused by the arguments on here. The future of all these large businesses is being decided in board rooms in Japan, Europe, India and the USA usually by non-British directors. They don't care one jot for Johnson's 'stirring' or Brexity jingo words to the local Brexity Brits - that's just local small scale politics (the mushroom treatment - keep them in the dark and pour on BS). All that matters is the the bottom line and what makes commercial sense. The die is now cast. The consequences are no longer in your hands.

You have done this all the way through. Quoted the FT when you think it shows Brexit in a good light (as that piece does but only in a limited by-comparison-with-all-the-bad-news kind of way. It is hardly a gushing endorsement, is it?) but ignoring the vast preponderance of its news and comment column inches the FT has published demonstrating the stupidity of leaving the EU. The idea that a change of editor at the FT would somehow alter its editorial stance in any serious way on the most cataclysmically dumb and economically damaging decision taken by the British people is nonsense. The FT will argue for making the best of a bad job - it already has under Barber's editorship - but that is just practical commonsense.
  19. 1 point
At not much of a tangent, this from the FT's George Parker: Only in Britain could you have a raging P1 debate about whether Big Ben should “bong” for Brexit but virtually no comment on the fact the Treasury hasn’t produced an assessment of what the @BorisJohnson proposed trade deal would mean for jobs and prosperity.

Whilst tettey is doing brilliantly he clearly tires and Amadou still isnt getting a look in. I always thought godfrey would be his natural replacement. With our defense looking more solid with zimm and hanley, any thoughts about trying godfrey in cdm role when fit. I doubt farke would ever go back to this but might be the balance we need

Let not get to carried away with the Idah game time thing. Yes he scored a hattrick against Preston reserves but he has mile to go before he’s a first team regular capable of leading the front line in a team pushing for promotion back to the premiership. This is a big part of our problem we put to much faith in people at this club too early and on very little evidence. We’re a professional “Top 26” team who will need a proven goal scorer at a level equal to that which we are in.

Word on the street is Tottenham are after Cancelo from Man City who can play RB. Im assuming they've been priced out of a move for Aarons this window, if there were any truth in the rumours. I don't expect him to move until the summer at the earliest.

Interesting that the video ' Memberships Explained " optimistically says that casual home tickets will cost £30 in the Premier League. I wonder if that means they'll be looking to charge £40 + when teams like Leeds roll up next year ?

Can I ask the obvious question then? If we have no FTA with Japan as seems likely very quickly - why would Honda close the UK? Could it possibly be that outside the EU it's supplying a small mature market with likely high tariff barriers to elsewhere hence makes no sense? I will give you a bit of insight into the mindset of people who have closed sites. Nobody does it lightly - its very very expensive on the bottom line (let alone all that political grief) so usually you err on the side of 'milking' with minimal or only essential investment in non-loss making sites to keep them going where you aren't sure about their strategic future (yes it might be the odd £100M) for the business overall. I suspect that Honda couldn't see much future in Swindon and with Brexit and the challenges to the car market generally forced a strategic review. The axe fell. They don't have a Brexit problem anymore! No doubt other car companies are going through similar machinations and I fear with similar results. Is the site strategic? Is it profitable? How will Brexit affect it? What investment does it need to remain profitable in a rapidly changing world? Can we rationalise? Keep the faith !

It's at the top end of prices in the Championship so don't think that with relegation they could have done much more than freeze it. I certainly think, rightly, there would have been a lot of flak if they had raised it... pricing out poorer fans etc... the right decision all things considered. Bargain if we stay up... god came over all a bit "Lakey" there...
  28. 1 point
Why did they feel the need to change it in the first place. Such a load of balls just to get extra50 quid out of a lot of people.

Frozen, just like their transfer fund! Just think all that extra PL income, and our next two years relegation PL payment. Richest debt free club in the Champs is their only aim.

Less than the current 3,000 of the EPL would include Cardiff, Hull, QPR, Derby, Brentford and if the Scum get lucky they only give us 2,000.

When Honda finally goes here in Swindon, it was nothing to do with Brexit, it was Honda changing the way cars are distributed. In fact it was not helped by the EU agreeing to a trade deal with Japan !
  33. 1 point
Yes I guess supply and demand dictates the price. It’s a little surprising though us being a community club who always put the fans first.
  34. 1 point
It's a key difference. Whilst making mistakes scouts are able to see our younger players potential at the top of the English game because they can watch them play against the best players in the world. It's far less risky than a James or a Maddison who hadn't played a single match in the Premier League.

£500k for your standard bong. Extra big bong would require a customs union.
  36. 1 point
If you want to roll the dice put Duda straight in at # 10. It’s why we arranged his loan.
  37. 1 point
Sure, but the price for 'potential' in the case of Daniel James was £15m. For Ryan Sessegnon it was £25m. For James Maddison it was £23m. But for some reason everybody is saying all of our young players are worth £30m a piece, when that seems to actually be above the current range when applying the domestic player premium. Market seems to give something more like a range of £10m to £25m for young English players with potential, I don't understand where this £30m figure has come from that people keep banding about, feels very optimistic to me, we saying our youngsters are so good that they will raise the threshold of the entire market? There are other young talents who don't play for Norwich for the big teams to fight over, they aren't exclusive to us, that Aaron Connolly looks the business, and Aaron Ramsdale at Bournemouth, Eze at QPR and McNeil at Burnley. I think some fans are going to end up a bit disappointed by some of the transfer fees, the upfront money in particular, I expect to see transfer fees which come packed with clauses and sell on percentages. They may go on and succeed like Maddison, but they could end up back in the Championship like the Murphy's. The other day somebody said £40m a piece for the three defenders, yet Harry Maguire had two years of regular England caps and three full years of Premier League football to realise £55m. Out of the young bunch the one who is closest to being 'ready' for the XI of a stronger team at this level is actually currently on our bench, Jamal Lewis by far the most consistent... is Ryan Bertrand any better, for example? Max Aarons perhaps the most valuable as he's a year or two behind the rest. I'd expect a Cantwell fee to be something more like £15m + add ons, he's good but he's just not at the level of a James Maddison.

Personally I would argue caution with this 'try X at 10' thing that comes around every now and then. Buendia and Cantwell benefit massively from sitting in the half spaces, which is why both routinely pop up with telling contributions these days. Todd in particular really doesn't deal well with getting bullied and has almost zero aerial presence, both of which are a big part of our version of a #10. I'd say both players, as our 2 most productive attacking players after Teemu, are better off playing where they've been played.

I'd be amazed if Duda starts on Saturday as he has only played 49 minutes of football since the end of October. More likely to come off the bench.

Properly humbled to be given the task of picking this week - especially given that this week is the anniversary of us loosing Ray. Hopefully I'll do the lovely old boy proud! Look forward to seeing all your suggestions - I'll be looking to select the final six late Friday evening. Also wishing the best of luck to my good friend Gary with the City bet picks.

I understand what you're saying, and what you're getting at, but Hernandez unfortunately isn't, or hasn't been, doing what you're saying. And certainly the reality is: Cantwell has 6 goals and 2 assists this season in the prem. Hernandez has 1 goal 1 assist (but playing half as much). Cantwell actually has 1 key pass per game on average. The only player in the entire squad who has a better ratio is Buendia. So contrary to what you say Cantwell is actually the most likely after Buendia to create anything for us. I agree with the concept of Hernandez being a better option as our attacking 3 are in danger of becoming too similar and we need someone with some additional pace - but Hernandez has largely been ineffective.

Certainly not sorry to see FFP cheats Bournemouth in the predicament they are....knew exactly what they were doing when promoted a few seasons back and then given a £7m slap on the wrist. ...spending £20m + on players when being allowed to play in the Premier League in a 12,000 seater stadium The premier league has a habit of catching up with these small clubs , who overspend and reliant on one individual rich benefactor, i.e Wigan, Fulham.....if they go down, might be a while before theyre seen at this level again #FairyTale

There are some fair criticisms of Farke that can be made, such as questionable substitution timings, defensive lineups while playing at home and some appalling differences between first and second half performances, but overall I feel that given a stronger squad obtained from through more investment in the team and more options to change a game off the bench he’d have done enough to get us safe.
  49. 1 point
I couldn’t agree more. If we’d played this formation from the start of the season we’d be mid table by now. It’s mad that Farke didn’t change to a 541 in recent games after we went ahead, to hold onto the lead. Instead he brought on players like Hernandez as an outlet, who don’t support the defence or worry the opposition too much. Although I love the attacking play, Farke clearly lacks the defensive tactics to grind out key points, while I’m tired of reliance on a predictably weak 4231. 541 in defence and 353 in attack suits us so well, as the only width we need is from the wing backs. Our quality comes down the middle of the pitch through Cantwell, Buendia and Pukki (perhaps also Vrancic in some games). IMO Farke should be focusing on not conceding and supporting the exceptional 3 to do their thing.

Most likely thing that might happen in a match sometime is a three centre back line up, with Godfrey as the middle man, but other than that, Godfrey is a centre back. Something like - Krul Zimmermann Godfey Hanley Aarons Mclean Vrancic Lewis Buendia Cantwell Pukki
