Hi chaps Im a season ticket holder at Leicester and felt that you guys needed some praise today. Naturally im disappointed we didnt win considering our form and your league position (no disrespect) but we didn't do enough to win and more importantly i was really surprised/impressed with Norwich. That's the poorest we've played at home this season and these sorts of games happen but take nothing away from Norwich Defensively superb, particularly the full backs Aarons and byram, not to mention being very creative going forward. You guys always looked dangerous and have some talent in the attacking area's. Pukki constantly a threat plus really like Cantwell, quality player. Ive 100% seen a number of worse sides than you guys this season and playing like that you'll stay up for sure. Great support and i really like farke. Massively hope you do stay up

They the best side to visit us this season in my opinion, I dont know if it was a bit of a fluke, or their league position is misleading. We werent at our best, but thats not an excuse, we were also poor in some other games and still won those games. Whilst norwich halted our run. They pressed very well. If the game had another 30 mins, I think they would have won it.

That’s definitely the most negative way of looking at it. Good for you

We play much better against teams that play football. We now need to learn to play against the teams that try to bully us off the ball.

I didn't vote for a Tory Government, nor did I want Jeremy Corbyn running the country, however, what I did want was second referendum. Now, before you you right wing lot jump on me, here's how I see it now. I accept that there will be NO second referendum, I accept that we will leave the EU at the end of January 2020. I also see that the result DOES have some positives, ie. the certainty that business and commerce has craved for over 3 years and the fact that Boris' early ramblings seem more conciliatory and less dangerous than I might have expected. From an EU perspective, the early signs from them is that they also accept the inevitability of Brexit and the noises coming from the seem to be positive. The paralysis of the past 3 years will hopefully now clear away. I also hope that as Boris has no need to, he does't pander to the extremes such as the ERG and steers a more liberal path, and we achieve a decent deal from the EU which is softer than the RWNJ's would love to see. Finally, let's all get behind City and help push us toward safety for the rest of the season, the debate on here was great, the nastiness between fellow supporters not so great. OTBC

Very slowly we are starting to find our way in this league. With the return of Zimmermann, Vrancis and Hernandez whilst having a settled team we are beginning to find better performances over a whole half or such as today a whole game. Even last week against sheff Utd we were good in the first half but poor in the second. I believe the tide is gently turning in our favour. let's hope it's not too late. Green (and yellow) shoots of recovery?

Absolutely correct. A reality some of us have been pushing since day one, but which apparently some are still not capable of admitting to themselves because "We'll get a great deal" just like Boris says, as he is a paragon of virtue and honesty in a sea full of these deceitful remainers and their horrid facts. The best hope of this not being an unmitigated disaster is that Boris has a similar sense of self-preservation. We know he is not principled but will go whichever way the wind blows as long as it's best for Boris. Given the overwhelming majority he has, and the inroads he made into traditional Labour heartlands, will he decide that he is actually going to do some social good in a bid to try and keep them voting Tory, or will he decide that they have just leant him their vote as a one off and he has no chance of keeping them, therefore they will continue to be cannon fodder as he lines the pockets of his mates? It's actually quite a critical moment for the Tory party as well as Labour. The only way Boris can keep the Northern bloc voting his way after Brexit is done is to give them something to vote for. Someone (apologies I forget who) stated earlier in the thread that Corbyn has shifted the paradigm in terms of pushing politics back towards the left. I'm not sure how far that bears out, but Boris will certainly have to push traditional left positions such as not destroying the NHS and education if he is to retain the support of the North further than lending him their vote once to get Brexit done. I suspect he will continue to line the pockets of his mates, with some tokenistic bribes being thrown to the working class. Whether there is any substance to these bribes or not probably doesn't matter as it appears that they won't see through it anyway, no matter how transparent - soundbites win the day at the moment.

I said I’d do a report today come hell or high water, when people were speculating how many Leicester would score... so here goes. A cold clear day, perfect for football, already with floodlights on by kick off at 3. Put it this way, coming into the game one team was 19th and one was 2nd having won 8 in a row. If you were visiting from Mars I think you’d have struggled to tell which was which, but would have picked the team in yellow as the latter if you’d had to. Farke went with Cantwell and Buendia on the flanks after Hernandez a bit lacklustre last week, Tettey/Trybull, unchanged back 5 (phew) and McLean just behind Pukki. leicester did start brightly, creating one chance to shoot centrally from the edge of the box but it had no power and was easy for Krul, shortly after he had to be sharply down to push another shot onto the post and gather the rebound. City came into it from then on and a brilliant move by Aarons on the right let him whip in a low cross after a 1 - 2 and at the far post Pukki just couldn’t stretch enough to get it on target with the goal completely open. I worried it would be one of those days, but soon after a brilliant ball from Buendia- looking back to his best - allowed Pukki to run on goal beating Leicester’s highly rated CBs and tucking the ball into the corner with the keeper stranded. City pushed on seeking another but Cantwell was unable to get a shot away from the edge of the box. Things got a bit tasty when City put the ball out with a man down, from the throw Leicester sent the ball to their winger and City were waiting for him to return the ball but he was purposefully running to the centre and our defence suddenly woke up that he wasn’t going to, and swarmed around him at the edge of the box. He went down and was surrounded by furious players in yellow, the ref harshly booked Cantwell and gave a free kick, fortunately things calmed and Maddison passed the ball back to Krul. A few minutes later Leicester won a corner and Maddison had some deserved applause from the City fans as he came to take it. He curled it to the near post where Vardy was unmarked to flick it on and it deflected in off Krul’s arm, unfortunate for him in a generally excellent game but to have Vardy unmarked at the near post is unforgivable, surely a player must be defending there whether you’re playing zonal or man marking? As the half wound down it was a very equal game and the 6 minutes of injury time saw half chances ( but no real threats) at both ends. The Leicester no 14 who’d failed to give the ball back was clearly shaken by it (roundly booed by City fans whenever he got the ball) so I’m guessing it was a misunderstanding by him. About 10 minutes later he was subbed (before half time) having given away the ball every time it came to him after the incident. The second half opened again with a strong start by Leicester but City weathered it - a few half chances rather than a storm - as the half wore on City came into it again and had the better chances. Turns out Pukki was playing with a broken toe, a couple of times later on he was played through but this maybe slowed him just enough for their no 4 to catch him and do just enough to stop him getting the shot away. At the other end, Leicester were mainly restricted to set pieces and fortunately City were now looking sharp defending them. Vardy got away once and went past Krul well to the left of goal, but from a very narrow angle he put the ball the wrong side of the post with Zimmerman covering the goal anyway. At the far end I felt Leicester were very much there to be take, but Cantwell and Buendia were both clearly tiring heavily from about 75 minutes and I was disappointed Hernandez didn’t come on until 10 minutes later, and would have preferred Vrancic to Stiepermann when he finally came on. We really needed at least one change sooner. As time ticked down City looked more likely to score although Leicester were always a threat from set pieces. One flowing move saw the ball played from the right to Stiepermann, it seemed perfectly teed up on his left foot and last season he’d probably have buried it, instead he laid it on to Hernandez who had a worse angle and trying to create another opening the ball was lost. So in the end I was disappointed with a point, which tells the story really. The question is whether we can translate these performances into points against the less good footballing sides where we’ve lost most of our games such as Watford, Soton etc etc. Lots of good performances from the starting 11, Cantwell was good again, Buendia close to his best, Pukki superb obviously, and McLean continues to be excellent in the no 10 spot. Tettey and Trybull and our CBs did very well against a quality attack and Aarons looked superb like last season, Byram continues to be excellent defensively and is improving in attack as he gets to know the others. Krul again was a rock. this season is frustrating because we’ve shown repeatedly we can compete and get points from the top end Prem teams - I can never remember a City team looking so competitive in the top flight against the good teams, you’d have to go back to the early 90s. But it’s the less good teams we’re struggling against and we just need to learn to cope with them and we’ll be fine, problem is the season is so short that we’re running out of games. Fortunately the table is so tight that we are certainly still in with a real chance if we can only find some consistency.

I agree with you 100%. What a strange person, who decides when a supporter from another club comes on to the forum and makes positive points, goes off at a tangent and makes remarks which are not relevant to the subject.

Cheers Chris , your post much appreciated . We’re good enough , just need to find that consistency. Have absolutely loved watching Leicester this season , especially at Southampton !! All the best for the rest of the season . Apologies for previous poster , you know the one . No class .

He was class today. His movement was superb, and got in a few times against two very good centre backs. I think he thrived with a 'back to his best' Buendia behind him.

I can't help but keep thinking "what if?" when it comes to all of those runs by Pukki putting the defender in his wake, just needed one more clean touch. But that's how special he is. Every time he touches the ball I stand up thinking we're about to see another clinical finish. And I'll never stop talking about his work rate getting back to the midfield and deeper. Love him.

Three fouls on Zimbo by maddison and Leicester get a free kick??????

I take it back. Trybull made a blinding pass to start that. Buendia will get credit (and so he should) for a lovely assist, but it started from Trybull.

4-0 Leicester, Norwich going down to "consolidate" their position in the Chumpionship. Delia, her cronies and most of the Pinkun message board will be over the moon, happy clapping all the way to another dismal promotion with no ambition, no money, no clues. Ever been to a live match or do you just go to funerals on Saturday afternoons?

Possibly - the irony is that it was Mrs Thatcher who pushed so strongly for the single market replacing the common market. This required regulatory union (to harmonise the four freedoms) which is despised, rightly or wrongly, by Brexiteers. What I always find confusing is that the PM who did more than any other to bring about regulatory union is seen (basically on the strength of a couple of speeches) as being ant-EU. She more than anyone else in the UK is the architect of the modern EU.
  26. 2 points
If the EU allowed us frictionless trade and basically all the benefits of membership with non of the drawbacks that would be great for us. Unfortunately everyone else would wonder why they are staying in the EU while being undercut by the UK and so will question their membership End result being a disbanded EU with all of us dealing with each other (and others such as the US/China) separately with less power than as a single larger entity. So worse off than where we all are now. The same wouldn’t apply if Scotland left. Once they go you’re comparing the deal you do with them Vs the price of Wales and NI also leaving. Tiny populations in comparison with what remains of the EU.

I'm not going to argue the left and right but a lot of what I see on here is correct. Industries such as mine want some certainty (that will take at least until the summer - no WTO etc. else our own 'Operation P45' will go hand in hand with operation Yellowhammer). Some products have already 'migrated' out of the UK. The real truth is that in 2016 most of the Brexiters were talking about what is now known as softer Brexit - Norway, EFT and similar. It got hijacked by the right wing and due to her weakness, May's red lines, into a disastrous economic proposition. Boris quite frankly when he came to power, found himself in a corner (the Benn act) and simply surrendered to the only 'non May' deal the EU had offered - the NI 'border'. Yes it will eventually result in a reunification of Ireland but that's a price worth paying for the uber Brexiters. So Johnson is no longer beholden to the right - he wants to leave a legacy and so yes I think he will, nay must, position himself in the middle - indeed a 'EFTA' style agreement may well now happen - probably what most Brexiters would of bitten your hand off for pre-2016 referendum! Now the funny thing. None of this Brexit malarky will help any of our run down areas or industries including fishing. It hampers them all (i.e. where will Grimsby send processed fish too with external Tariffs?). Brexit was simply a scapegoat for Westminster inaction. However - as Boris must somehow try to show a 'Brexit' success to these Tory voting left behind areas he will spend oodles of money rebalancing the country - something which was long overdue anyway. Of course the underlying economic truths still stand - many of these left behind areas only grew in the first place on heavy industries - many of which have long since collapsed anyway - never to return. Yes some towns / cities must shrink!

That could happen. It might not, but it could. That said, there is one basic political reality which has applied all the way through and which will go on being applied. And that is that any Brexit deal has by definition to leave the UK economically worse off outside the EU than inside. Not revenge. Just commonsense self-preservation on the part of the EU. The UK would be demanding that the same reality apply if it was the UK that was staying and some other country leaving. The other point is that while the markets have instantly welcomed the election result because it finally gives a definitive answer to the question of whether the UK is leaving, because the markets like certainty, it also means, for example, that companies that have been able to hold off on inward investment decisions, on the off-chance the UK might Remain, now also know that will not happen. And foreign investment into the UK has already fallen significantly.

One thing you can gaurantee from this is that Labour will learn absolutely nothing from this defeat. Faced with two choices they will always choose the worst. The hard left will be scurrying around to cement their control of the party.

I've lost so I'm under no pressure to fight anymore. I'm just going to have fun. Whatever happens from now on is down to you. No more scapegoats remember. Good night and God bless.

Well said! Some people simply don’t know how to accept a compliment and say thank you. I for one have to admit that it’s been a long time since a fan from an opposing team came on here and shared such praise. It is such a relief. Truly appreciated LCFC85! I hope you guys keep disrupting the top of the table!

I have to say Emi frustrated me several times and especially for the last ten to fifteen minutes. At his best, he’s far too good a player for a club like us. At his worst, he’s a passenger, lying in the ground or standing with his hands on his hips looking aggrieved. He spent several minutes squatting while Leicester attacked near the end of the match and eventually stood up and ambled back towards the action, far too late to help. Maybe he was genuinely injured but he’s cried wolf too many times sadly. Contrast him with Todd whose work rate was - again - immense today.

I think this battling performance against arguably one of the best teams in the league shows we are good enough. But we can't allow a moments dalliance or switching off .... or any of the players thinking they belong here by right. Survive a season and the you've earned the right to call yourself Premier League.

What are you even talking about? We chose to leave the EU. If you leave a club, you lose the benefits of the club. That's not the EU making us worse off, it's the people who voted for Brexit leaving us worse off. If you extend the advantages of the club to people who don't belong to the club, then the club itself becomes pointless. It's not difficult to grasp....

Here we go. Many thanks to everybody for their suggestions - after much thought and some very tough decisions, this is what I've gone for in my final six: LIVERPOOL v Watford PRESTON v Luton AYR v Alloa BAYERN MUNICH v Werder Bremen JUVENTUS v Udinese BRAGA v Pacos Ferreira Thanks everyone for their picks, this was tough and this is possibly playing it safe but I thought it better to get a win on the board if at all possible than worry about potential returns. My second line is coming soon...
