Isn't a man who played for them, even winning a European cup with them, currently occupying a near top spot in the league that he manages in. He's probably hovering over his phone right now, waiting for that call.😉

There was a fair old turnout tonight and I was very grateful that my old workmate Roger Smith had saved me a seat close to the front and everyone appeared to be in good spirits. Fortunately for the Board we got the points on Saturday else the mood of the shareholders might not have been so friendly. The early business was concluded quite quickly with both Stephan Phillips and MWJ been re-elected to the Board unopposed. Ben Dack then gave us a rundown on the finances most of which you will know from reading the accounts. A few of the points I picked up on were as follows. Last years income was £36.5 million while this years income will be £126 million but costs will go up from £42 to £81 million. Ben stressed the point about the increases in players contracts and their promotion bonus. The losses of £33 million this season should turn into a profit of £16 million next season. Zoe Ward next gave us an overview of what they had been doing regarding the training ground upgrade and the first phase of The Nest. We also had the now customary promotional video showing the players enjoying the new facilities and the community work now going on at The Nest. Good to see our club at the forefront of this sort of thing. Zoe stated that the object was to make the club one of the top 26 in the country and thus recognising the difficulty of permanent Premier membership. Questions were fairly routine stuff for us regular attendees. Money for transfers, Ground expansion, Sponsorship deals and are we selling anyone in January just about covers it. There will be money available should we need someone in the window but Stuart Webber was obviously cagey about how much and of course the usual mantra about not needing to sell with the observation that of course everyone has a price. So nothing we didn't know or suspect already. Somebody had a moan about the shirt sponsorship and various other commercial failings but was quickly silenced by Ben Kensall's claim that commercial income had increased by 83%. Mr Kensall also said that there would be an announcement on away membership some time before Xmas. Daniel was asked about VAR and largely said what most of us think. There are some good and bad points that need to be ironed out but we must try to keep stoppages to the minimum. The main point of interest for me was that there now seems to be some serious thought going into ground expansion. The recent purchase of two strips of ground, (one alongside the main stand and the other behind the Barclay) make it possible to begin to plan for developments on that larger footprint. Ben Kensell stressed that this was still very much long term with all the usual caveats about Premiership money etc etc. Call me a pessimist but I doubt very much if we are talking about anything starting within 3-5 year timescale. However for those expansionists among us it is a straw to cling to.

Not interested in any of this "discussion" about todays tragic events other than to say there were some ordinary people who became real heros today, god bless them!

Byram has to keep his place, as does McLean, so I'd go with that Darth. Hopefully Amadou will show his class in midfield. At last!!

Strange there is such negativity about our ability to fill a larger stadium. I would say it is essential if we are not to lose out on a generation of supporters. I regularly stood at games with attendances in excess of 35,000 in the 1970's when the population of Norfolk was significantly lower than it is now. We could clearly fill a 40,000 stadium for 6 or 7 Premier League games and if we were looking at 35,000 we would probably fill it for half of the Premier League games. The most important factor is long term support. We want to be in a position where people can get tickets to take children to games. They are the supporters of tomorrow and as a business we need to get them when they're young. Ricardo, was anything said about safe standing?

Sorry Surfer but I find this very uncomfortable. People out innocently walking have been murdered for no good reason and their relatives will be desperately trying to come to terms with their grief. Going overboard! I really don't think so. How insensitive can you get? The fact that the 12 students killed in California only resulted in a few column inches says plenty about US and should give you pause for thought. not the time for political point scoring.

No. We'd certainly have many more season ticket holders as well as more sales through greater availability.

They asked how I was going to vote and how I voted last time, also my thoughts on subjects like Royalty and climate. They decided I could clap as I wished, but keep my mouth shut !

They tend to ask enough questions balance the audience. I suspect @SwindonCanary answered enough to fufill the requirement for the slightly dim, failed motor industry expert, doesn't like foreign kids but likes Cornish caught fish quota.😋

I am a great believer in setting achievable targets (Something the Labour Party knows nothing about). If we set being in the Prem every year as our target then we might fail by May next year. We've shown that we can get promoted by recruiting the right people, as opposed to just spending money. The aim now is to make that mantra of "The Right People" permanent.

I wondered how long it would be for someone to have a go at scousers. People died - fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, sisters and brothers. Does it matter where they came from? Did the people at the front contribute to the pushing at the back? I doubt it, but because they are from Liverpool it somehow makes it ok to lessen what happened. Would it be ok if you said the colour of their skin contributed to what happened?

In the meantime Ljungberg tweeted: " I will give everything I have to put smiles on faces again." Let's hope he keeps his word, and when the final whistle goes on Sunday, he'll see a stadium full of smilig faces.

It's people like you who support the terrorist sympathiser Corbyn that should hold their head in shame. You allow these people into this country to kill innocent people. Anyone who votes Labour is voting for a friend of terrorists. And its fanatics like you that help the ultra right wing thrive. I'm sorry but my two year old great granddaughter can reason more clearly and sensibly than you. And its people like you who let Germans and Argentinians play football for Norwich after they killed our people is why people vote Tory? Course not. You need to just sit back and reason things out a bit instead of this maniacal hatred of Corbyn for all the wrong reasons. You never mention his policies. Just that he supports terrorists. And that is why you have become an object of ridicule on here.
  26. 1 point
Which one would you say were untrue ? Grammar a bit ropey. All of them. Corbyn does not support terrorism or terrorist groups. But tell me all knowing. Has Hamas ever operated outside of Israel or the West Bank? So because they attack a nation that is quite happy for them to do it so they can retaliate in force. they are terrorists like Al Quaeda? No. Are the protesters in Hong Kong terrorists? Seems like it by your definition. The difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter lies in the fact that while a freedom fighter sometimes may be forced to use violence, he can not use indiscriminate violence. The one who uses indiscriminate violence, that is the terrorist.

Look at the date and then when Trump was in Afghanistan. What bit didn't you understand Jools? Guido can't help you there?

I saw some disgraceful behaviour from both sides on social media earlier, false tweets being sent around proportions to be from Corbyn, and posters claiming the entire things was architected to help Tory support. I am truly saddened by the state of politics and general political discussion in our country at the moment.

Although in my opinion a good manager/ coach , it seems a bit early in his career for a move like this. I'd have thought someone like Pochetino would be more likely. A couple more decent seasons with us and it would surprise me less. Dortmund are regulars in the CL , it's a big jump from our current level.

He is a low IQ WUM that doesn't have the nous to write anything more than the same old tripe over and over. His attacks on Todders are just puerile drivel as he knows most are glad to see a local lad doing well. Most of his posts are just a few words as he struggles with his native language in written form , never mind providing a valid argument as to why he spouts such tripe. Maybe he's proud of being the laughing stock of the board, as saddos often feel that any attention, even negative, is better than none at all....to them it validates their existence . Should feel sorry for him really, but I dont.

I heard that 6% is hung parliament territory. That would be best for Britain IMO.

Panelbase opinion poll today gives a Tory lead of 8%. That's three now with leads of 7%, 7% and 8% in the last few days. That's very close to hung parliament territory and still two weeks to go.

There is a lot of myth attatched to the idea of huge gates back in the day. I would suggest people look at the facts first. Yes, the present limit is a bit on the small side for most games but we should also take into account that in most of the last 20 seasons we have been involved in either a promotion or relegation battle. I often wonder how things would look had we been in a similar long featureless run as our rivals south of the border. During the 1980's and 1990's and despite much of the time being in the top flight, our average gate fluctuated between 14-18k. That fact alone suggests to me that we should proceed with caution. I watch a lot of Championship football on Sky TV and there is nothing worse than seeing vast areas of empty seats. 32k-35k seems about right to me but the real question is whether an increase of 5-6 k increases revenue enough to justify the expenditure.

I imagine Arsenal are going to be hard to stop now this weekend. The players will be playing for Ljungburg now and not Emery, which they seem to have had little respect for. Be thrilled to come away with 3 points on this one.

Reported anyone lately because you've had your feelings hurt?

I agree and that would totally defeat any financial argument other than the point by Keelans Grandad of all the extra income available from commercial revenue such as big concerts, which in turn benefit the local economy. His point makes total sense as if it makes the extra money I don’t think the club would be to concerned with empty seats, I just think that loses the atmosphere. Pity we can’t invent a stadium that like a sliding roof can slide out to provide more or less seats based on the number of seats sold.

This country is truly f***ed if people are still prepared to vote for a pathological liar just because he says that he can “Get Brexit done”. Of course, that might be a lie too. There hasn’t been such a poor choice between parties since I was eligible to vote (1981). Neither of the big 2 can be trusted.

Jools is becoming so obsessed that he might need an ice statue to stand in for him. Where do you get your facts from? Oh yes, an anti Labour, ****ed in the dorm, bunch of Lord Snooty's who lie through their teeth. No surprise they are taught to lie at an early age. And last night's failure for Thatchead to turn up because he cannot win any debate when it is more than head to head because he has lied so many times in his ascent from journalist to PM that even a Cray computer couldn't remember them all. Then this morning, he sends his pater to lie for him on the breakfast news. Why is it so important says Johnson Snr? Well so important that your son was prepared to sacrifice his life by lying down in front of a bulldozer. I have to shake my head in despair. This election really has come down to Brexit only. So OK we accept that the Tories will probably be the leading party after a Brexit argument. But what about the argument by Farage, who couldn't attend the debate last night because he hasn't got any other policies, that Johnson's is not Brexit and is worse than Mays deal? The policies of the party's are just deliberately being obscured by the nastiest, most devious Tory party individuals I have ever had the chance to despise.

Indeed, I think most people have seen my stats on this point. Increasing population may fill the gap long term but I am dubious that we need anything bigger than 35k long term. And I also rate it happening anytime soon as very long odds.

Thanks by the way Ricardo for the great report. The comments re the expansion do seem to tie in with what I reported he said from the consultations. I have a sneaky feeling though that this is moving a bit quicker than you think. I base that on Webber only being here now for a limited time, would he not want this as a legacy if possible, the repaying of the 1 bond ( lots of people making a profit ) so lots of people ready to risk their hard earned cash in another project and Webber and Kensell don’t throw money away so even if it was cheap why specifically buy the land now if it was not going to be used as other than our stadium this as he said at the consultation is waste land. My fear with a 35000 - 40000 seater stadium is that the people of Norfolk do not in the future lend their support and we finish up with a half full stadium lacking atmosphere, but that’s just a personal thought I know many are in favour.

The warning signs were clear at Hillsborough; It was a potentially (more) dangerous ground. This is Wolves v Tottenham Hotspur at Hillsborough... in 1981.

How do people keep supporting Boris? He's scared to debate the other leaders on the environment. He's scared to let Andrew Neil interview him. He's a pathetic shill who is not prepared to be scrutinised in any meaningful way as he gets embarassed every time he does because he's a pathological liar and a shyster.... yet still some people are too thick to see through his transparent shell.
  46. 1 point
Not really. It was a recognition of reality in that if we can't be a permanent member of the Premiership we need to be at least challenging in the top 6 of the Championship. I realise that doesn't please everybody but it fairly reflects our historical status.

I suspect the families of the innocent will never get peace from this. Even if a jury had found him guilty there would be a constant nagging feeling that others were at fault as well, causing further frustration for those who lost loved ones. It certainly would for me. This was a combination of errors from individuals and corporations. A complex investigation from an ever changing and dynamic set of events that ultimately led to the dreadful death of 96 football supporters who had arrived early to gain a good advantage point. However to suggest one man is entirely at fault for this tragedy firstly can not be proven to the required criminal level and secondly does not sit right when you look at the incident as a whole or the general culture around football at the time. Huge lessons have been learnt from that terrible day which benefit many supporters now, though that is of course small comfort to the effected.

Leitner has been perhaps the most disappointing player this season for me. I don't mean it in a "Oh God, he as been awful" perspective... Rather, I really had him pinned as a player who could translate really well the PL, due to his technical ability. He had a solid run of games in our poor run and I was disappointed that he didn't perform better than he did. He has always been a bit of a liability defensively, but could rely on his ability to control the midfield from deep. He's lost a lot of form and confidence which is making his defensive slights show a lot more. The villa game is a great example of this. With Vrancic coming back in to the picture, I think Mo is going to have to work extremely hard to get back into a starting xi. Especially if we are potentially looking to play a pairing of Tettey/Trybull/Amadou more often. If there is any truth to the rumours he is being an **** behind the scenes, he will have to nip that in the bud ASAP - or he will likely never play Premier League football again.
