If there were 'elite groups', i.e. a priority list such as: Group 1: 10+ away games last season Group 2: 5-9 away games last season Group 3: 1+ away game last season, priority members renewed from last season and STs Group 4: new priority members ...then I don't think there would be many complaints. Had a new priority member pointed out that they'd be very unlikely to get tickets for any decent away game, I don't think there would be much sympathy from anyone: after all, why didn't they either attend one away game or buy priority for home tickets last season? You could argue that it becomes a closed shop, but at least it rewards loyalty and everyone else has to 'wait their turn'. I'm not necessarily advocating this system, but I think you'd get hardly any valid complaints about fairness compared to one where touts, non-Norwich fans and people who have never really supported Norwich before are getting tickets ahead of those who went to several away games last year. I'm saying this as someone who isn't affected at all by the away ticket system, as I live abroad and have no intention of going to an away game.

Slightly OT but amused at a BBC summing up of the weekend action which had us "thumped" 4-1 by Liverpool yet Chelsea only "lost" 4-0 at Man Utd.

https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/norwich-streaker-why-he-did-it-1-6213839 Grant Sleight Fined £5000 and banned from Anfield for 5 years. A Liverpool fan who lives in Norwich and seeked publicity by approaching the EDP for the ridiculous article they have printed and looks like he is hero worshipped by his Facebook followers for what he did. Even talk of crowdfunding to pay the fine ! Probably got his ticket by joining the membership scheme as he obviously has a local postcode and possibly a purchase history but in my book he should have it cancelled and a substantial ban from Carrow Road like he has from Liverpool. Over to you Mr Kensall.

Must say im a bit disappointed by the way the club has gone about all this for this season. Yes, we, as a club would like to have more money. Are we to be the Ryanair of the premier league, make it useless to be anything other than a priority boarder, and clipping every passenger for every penny we can. The real daft part of this is that in football money terms the income raised by upsetting so many supporters is peanuts.

I don't agree with the term loyal for that very reason. Which is why I said classed as or claim to be. However by not using the term loyal yesterday I was chastised on here. Maybe you could have come to my rescue?

Not trying to top you Purple, just adding to the nostalgia and although memory plays tricks I think we saw Kevin Hector with Derby at the Carra for the first time under Clough a couple of seasons earlier in a 1-1 draw. Hector was some player, who signed before Cloughie switched from Hartlepool, but it was him and Peter Taylor who brought the best out of him, yet walking away that day quite a few of us thought we might have dodged a bullet. He tried stuff which often didn’t work, like a powerful downward header back across the goalmouth from close in when everyone, including his own teammates, expected a header on goal at the River End so that nothing came of it. But he seemed completely unfazed by that and there were other bits and pieces around the pitch which nearly came off and it was only looking back later that I think we realised we had been privileged to see the start of something special. Hell, I love football, can get as much pleasure out of looking back as out of seeing our brilliant squad today – well almost as much! 🤩

That piece has been pretty heavily panned in the analytics community. The 'intrinsic values' don't seem to represent reality at all and with no explanation how these values are determined it is a pretty counter productive article. It is basically a press release from this company with very little editorial oversight. There is no way Sam Bryam is worth £27m or Delph is worth £50m. I do agree that the Bryam deal was a very good one for Norwich though, but trying to put numbers on just how good it is seems redundant.

This is a humongous reach, backed up by nothing but a desire to not see the club as having done something wrong. Nothing about this membership scheme points to it being a start of members being more involved in the running and funding of the club.

So West Ham must have been relegated last season having lost 4-0 in last seasons first match at Anfield. Oh wait.... it appears they didn’t. How can that be? Did anyone else concede four against Liverpool or lose by a 3 goal margin? Let’s take a look. Southampton lost by 3. They must be in the championship this season. What do you mean 'no'? Cardiff conceded four so 'talk sh!te' presumably called.that one right. Watford lost by 3 and Bournemouth and Newcastle both conceded 4, so that’s the other two relegation places filled alongside Cardiff, right? It’s not right? Well surely one of them must have gone down? How can it be that they all survived. Arsenal conceded 5, Palace 4, Bournemouth and Watford both lost again by 3 and 5 respectively. They must have all had a real battle to not be relegated after results like that. How did they possibly finish 36, 15, 11 and 16 points clear of relegation. 5th, 11th, 12th and 14th. Well Burnley conceded 4. They must have gone down cos they don’t have any money either. They just started their fourth consecutive season in the Premiership you say? And I presume the pundits got it right when Huddersfield lost by 5 with only two more games to play. Not too difficult a call since they were already relegated by that time So 10 teams lost by the same or greater margin to Liverpool, two of them twice and 8 of them are still in the top flight. So to everyone, especially those who still haven’t learnt from the first five games last season, let’s just get a few more games under our belt before drawing any definitive conclusions from Fridays game.

If it was Adrian Durham then just ignore him. He's basically a Donald Trump-esque troll doll but switched around the orange skin / pallid hair for orange hair and pallid skin. If it wasn't him, then I still don't like him. Actually, whilst I'm at it, has James Corden ever said anything negative about Norwich as I'd like to have a go at him as well?

I wonder if we had won the match if we’d have definitely been labelled serious title contenders after 1 game🤔

It will be interesting to see if the club have been in touch with our streaking friend and asked him how he obtained his ticket, I would imagine they must be trying to get to the er ‘bottom’ of it. Perhaps we’ll never know, perhaps there’s a poster on here thinking ‘Oh Shiite, what have I done now?’

Pukki receives the ball from 20 yards away and has runners in support.....RVW got scraps from 50 yards or so and no support. Hughton tucked him up good and proper and ruined our team.... a shambles of a coach.....(nice bloke though apparently). Even Holt struggled with Hughton's approach. Fact is we'll never know, but give him the benefit of doubt.

Somebody may still wish to buy membership though. I understand how it's become all about tickets but lot's of fans like to be members even if they never buy tickets. The narrow view of all this is astounding at times.

Until the modern era of mega-money and overseas stars (yes, there really was such a time...) that was the greatest performance I can remember seeing from an away team at Carrow Road. Derby had McParland, Mackay, Alan Durban, John McGovern, Willie Carlin, Frank Wignall, Hinton, and Kevin Hector, whom we had tried to sign from Bradford Park Avenue. They were way too good for us, went up as champions seven points clear (in the era of two for a win) and finished fourth in the First Division the next season and won the title two seasons later.. The only good thing about that season was we beat Ipswich 4-2 away in the League Cup. Started the season with an away win then lost 2-0 at home midweek to Boro who only had nine men on the pitch after two sendings off. The Derby match was a terrific game as you say and I remember pundits going on about Willie Carlin but until I saw him I didn't realise how good he was

I have no idea how many Glastonbury tickets there are but for the sake of argument let’s say 200,000. You were told to be able to get any of these tickets there was a charge of £50 and for that you will receive a Glastonbury scarf and a picture of lasts years lead act and of course the only way to have the chance of buying a ticket was to purchase the membership. 700,000 people were accepted onto the scheme and 500,000 were therefore left with just a scarf and a picture for their £50. There would be a national outcry.

I paid £30 for 'Super Membership' for a good number of years and was sometimes unable to get tickets for home games - intrigued to know how this is any different, other than being a bit more expensive? Pretty sure the new membership scheme didn't come with a guarantee of a ticket for every game, just like the old super membership didn't.

In a normal world Trading Standards would now have a pile of complaints on their desk and would be carrying out an investigation, there would also probably be letters to that BBC programme. However we love our club and that’s the reason this is not happening. Just as a warning though Mr Ben someone will snap eventually and report the club or indeed trading standards will pick up on social media. It is illegal in this country to charge somebody to buy something they can’t have due to over subscription.

I have calmed down a bit now after yesterday, my blood pressure is back to its normal levels, but I have a serious question. on reflection it seems there would not be a scheme that pleased everybody, however if the scheme had not changed ( we already knew the rules for getting tickets ) would anybody have complained as such about not getting a ticket or would the system have just been accepted ? I suspect the latter with those not getting tickets simply in the majority accepting the situation and would probably go to FA Cup / league cup / less glamorous EPL games to build their points up.

Amadou has been here for 2 weeks and as far as I am aware had a full preseason before his move. His minutes therefore similar to our rotational midfielders this preseason. I would think the level he was at with the Sevilla team would be like many other new additions to premier League squads and ready to come in. We have brought him in as a proven DM in 2 of Europe's top leagues and we expect him to play a number of games that can lead to survival, that is in the reported loan agreement. TT was cramping early I believe, no injury report yet, but Amadou is a natural starter and if TT has a little niggle then of course a fully fit Amadou starts. I believe you get the best players on the pitch to beat a given team, cohesion is really important but so is individual brilliance in this league. I do think Marco would be under pressure this summer from a new addition and I feel as many have said Cantwell has performed, right now. That is my point, the guys performing right now you take advantage of. Last season Buendia, Hernandez, Vrancic etc had purple patches. You take advantage of that. The cohesion does not look damaged if we move our squad around a bit and I would say that being in the match day squad for ie. Marco, would still see him having some playing time. Do I think farke will make the multiple changes to what I consider a pretty settled line up that can get the results, no. I am a fan, not someone who sees them everyday. But I would see the team noted as a team that is performing now and one that can be settled.

I’m not sure that the £350,000 from this new membership scheme is very material in the context of the Premier League +£100,000,000 windfall, so I doubt that real motives were financial. Demand outstrips supply for tickets, the stadium capacity is limited even at League 1 level, there is a danger of bed-blocking new generations of fans and interest levels from new and potential customers (beyond the existing database) is at its very highest and must be commercially explored. Tickets at Premier Clubs are available at stupendously high prices, with many more fans willing to pay very high sums for single games (vid VIP coach offer on this thread). I also very much doubt that most - if not all - of the issues raised on this thread were not clearly thought of in advance by the Club. The unilateral, last-minute announcement - with an element of sliding it in on a good news day - implies a clear understanding that it was a poison chalice to change or not change, that many would be unhappy. Perfection was clearly not on offer here, so a bullet in shoulder was taken, likely to establish a deeper principle from the club of broadening the Membership base perhaps with a view to Members have a greater role in the running of the club going forwards. Self-funding models might well rely on Members funds and investment going forwards - Barcelona would be the pinnacle of such a scheme, where the Club is owned by the Members - so broadening the scheme at a point where demand was highest, availability inevitably very low, new fan engagement high and broader (worldwide) exposure huge. New money, people and interest must be welcomed for future development (even if in effect it can’t all be satisfied today). Doing it for £350,000 in this context looks highly unlikely. So the real reasons were something else. Parma

Hi JT, those invited are those that contacted the club at the outset and complained about the current set-up. i was invited but cannot go, but I have been in contact with the club this afternoon regarding the fiasco that this is after queueing at Carrow Road this morning. I really really do not think this membership arrangement was thought out at all by Kensall and his comrades, but having made the decision to stick with it, they have to, but they obviously hadn’t thought about the problems identified through selling just two away matches. It’s going to get worse for sure, and anyone who paid £35 for standard membership simply will not get a ticket! yes I agree it appears this was a simple money grabbing excise by NCFC to make up the shortfall of income brought about by the premier league rule of capped ticket prices, and that was the complaint I first made to the club. But the issues are now much more than that after the fiasco of today, which will be replicated many times this season for sure. Im pretty sure the office of fair trading will be taking a look at city, as might other agencies, you can only say they have brought it upon themselves.

Yep, agree 100%, trouble makers whoever they support should be ejected and if the situation dictates , prosecuted. Twenty something years ago I unexpectedly ended up in Norfolk for the weekend, city were at home to Huddersfield, I phoned the ticket office explained the situation and reserved a ticket/ seat. South stand, no problem. As I was alone I just sat back and enjoyed the atmosphere which bubbled up nicely as city went one ,then to up, after the second ,which I of course celebrated, more exuberantly than the first ,I was approached by mrs Plod, saying, very gently that I had to move," why , " says I. "Because they up there want you out", I turned ro see the huddersfield crew making gestures at me. I had been oblivious to the fact I'd been sold an away suuporters ticket . Now my Norfolk accent has never been right strong but in no way is my accent Yorkshire or even Northern. I was never asked by the ticket office who I supported. Genuine mistake all round. Mind you got the biggest cheer I've ever had in my life and was welcomed into the Naaarich section after being escorted by mrs and now two mister plods back to the green and yella bit. Final score 2 nil city. If only there were spare seats at the carra nowadays , like there was then😜, fans seated in the wrong areas could be moved rather than ejected. I bear no ill will towards the club, Huddersfield or the plod family for the above incident.
