Amadou also went in goal for a game under Bielsa after the Lille keeper was sent off and all the subs had been used. He was Bielsa's 'Kalvin Phillips' at Lille, he'd break up attacks and be the first pass in his own team's attack. He can pass well, generally 90% completion rate, and would often hit big diagonal passes that are such a feature of a Bielsa team. The more I look at videos and read about him, the more I am impressed with this signing.

A rather decent season preview in today's paper if you fancy a quick read. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/aug/06/premier-league-201920-preview-no-14-norwich-city

If he doesn't sign, he can fukcing walk back.

Norwich paid for his private plane, they wouldn’t pay for it to take him on a tour of English clubs.

Hopefully he gets shown around Burnley before signing anything. That will be one competitor out of the way.

One of the worst effects of the internet has been people seemingly thinking they don't need to pay for things anymore. Music, journalism, movies, sports- why pay for it when you can get it for free? Fine if you'll put up with the adverts- then come the ad blockers, as why should I have to see adverts when reading my free content? Then ad revenues decrease so adverts become more and more invasive and content gets slighter and slighter and clicks become more important so you get reheated transfer gossip and boring lists with no original insight. All a race to the bottom because people have decided they deserve this stuff for free.

I agree with the thrust of what you are saying. We are as good as we could reasonably expect to be given our funding model and the nature of the current transfer market. Some people seem to think that we should be spending millions on signing new players. This is not the right time for that for a number of reasons. Even though we could afford a few higher earners, it would upset the rest of the squad. There is also no guarantee that a £20m player would be successful in our team. I am hopeful that we will continue to sign promising youngsters and unheard of foreigners and develop them into top level players. It's a double win strategy because the cost of failure is minimal (low fee and wages) but the prize for success is, at worst, an asset that can be cashed in. While the spectre of relegation is not to be ignored, I believe (and seemingly the management agree) that our best chance of survival is to retain the unity and ethos that saw us take the Championship by storm last season. I have never seen Norwich play such good (thrilling, attacking, entertaining etc...) football. Let's not rip that apart without giving it a chance at the next level.

These Drinkwater rumours that are still circling the web are laughable! They’re reporting he has £100k per week wages and calling them a ‘stumbling block’ to the deal. More like f*cking Mount Everest!

What would you prefer? The Sport? There’s a great article in the Guardian today about baked potatoes, so that’s two things.

My pal just said... He flushed the toilet over Portman Road and his frozen sh!t plummeted to the ground and caused £500 worth of improvements 😂 Tbf, a frozen turd would probably perform better than most of their players. Not so great in the heat, though...

Hopefully he had a huge dump over Portman Road; not that you'd notice much difference either way. OTBC

If someone could bug his car so we can track that too, that would be great.

Apparently he is insisting on a release clause if he hears or reads anything even remotely related to that Black Lace song. It'll be like trying to suck a fruit pastille

An interesting one to ponder & a nice problem! Assuming a favoured 4-2-3-1 formation for the vast majority of games, you'd have to fancy Leitner. But McLean has earned a shot and Vrancic could be ideal alongside him. What about Trybull? Even Tettey might have something to offer over the season. The unfortunate Thompson needs to go out on loan. If this signing comes off, it creates lots of new options, e.g. McLean or Vrancic further up the pitch for the last 20/30 minutes. Trybull will probably hold the position while Amadou 'acclimatises' but for me, this is the most exciting signing of the summer. It will probably signify the end of senior incomings this window, leaving the domestic loan option free for January.

If Amadou gels into the squad ethos (and doesn't upset the apple-cart wage-wise) and delivers 30+ league appearances, this could be the key signing that helps to shore up the leaky defence, allowing the front four to do their thing, supported by our two full-backs. Fingers crossed indeed!

I don't think it was ever Amadou or Dozzell. Amadou is flying into Norwich today to sign the paperwork. He could of course hate Norwich and Colney and change his mind, or his agent might get a last minute offer from somewhere else - but it looks 99% certain he'll sign on the dotted line.

Does anybody else think he seems to be exactly what our midfield is missing? 😉

I like this fact. A team full of leaders is something the Lambert glory years were marked by.

Just noticed that Bielsa made him club captain in the 2017-18 season, so his character must be pretty good in terms of fitting into our squad.

Definitely going down - and finishing rock bottom. Going into an EPL season having paid a top transfer fee of £750,000 is a complete joke. The club seems to be under the illusion that re-signing existing players is the same as team strengthening. Well of course it isn't and the club will be ruthlessly exposed in the big league. The defending is still the same as it was under Alex Neil. They cannot defend any ball into the box and get alarmingly opened up by bog-standard balls through the middle. Klose loses his head, Hanley and Krul are not EPL standard and Zimmermann will be too slow. Godfrey probably the best, but still learning. Let's not forget both Newcastle and Brighton considered Hanley and Krul no good at this level. But of course the biggest factor mitigating against survival is Delia herself. This ownership model is 30 years out of date and the club has not moved with the times. You cannot go into the EPL on the basis that you are not going to spend any money. The best players go to the clubs paying the best money. End of. All Norwich City's activity this summer and the statements coming out from the club indicate that they are fully prepared for the Championship by August 2020.

We'll be fine The PL is littered with players who have cost a fortune and have turned out misfits. As long as our players don't share the 'litle ole Norwich' mentality of some on here we will finish far higher than many think. We are there by right, by being the best out of 24 teams, by having a fully focused and committed squad. Onne that has shown it can dig out results when needed. And I don't thinnk any of us coudd say hand on heart that this has not been the first season where there wasn't a scapegoat, a player not up to it or not fully committed. Because in my long years of following City there has always been one or two 'square pegs in round holes, players you would love to ship out... but not with this lot. We may not do a Leicester, but we sure won't do a Fulham either

I think one mistake shouldn't rule a player out. Buendia was caught spitting at a player in Spain the season before Norwich signed him, good thing Norwich didn't think that was against the 'team ethos'. The Amadou thing looks very real now - being reported in France by Yahoo France who are generally pretty good at this kind of thing. Unless someone else jumps in, looks a likely move.

There's something so cool about the way he runs at people with that straight back posture. Ronaldo levels of confidence. Looks like a star. Would be astonished if it comes off.

It appears Lorient were trying to drum up interest by saying Arsenal wanted to buy him when they probably didn’t. Later he said he didn’t want to play in the PL just yet and hoped to move to Borussia MG. So that 18m pound figure may have been a bit of an invention by Lorient as well. But it does seem an unlikely move for us. That said, he can apparently play wide as well as up front, so it might be plausible, especially if the price is much lower.

It means that based on the quality of the chances we created we scored twenty more goals than would be expected. So our finishing was pretty clinical. We need that to continue as it's likely we will get less chances in the Prem.

I can understand that it is galling for those that work in the media that there is so much material for free. Nevertheless if they expect people to pay for media, it would have to improve the standard of what is delivered. I have taken out digital subscriptions in the past but stopped because of the low standard of what is printed. As someone of an "older vintage" pretty clear to me that the standard of what is printed has declined sharply over my lifetime - most newspapers - even broadsheets - are little more that "opinion comics" designed to feed their readers prejudice. In younger days, newspapers used to print the full text of speeches/ parliamentary debates etc and carefully separated fact from opinion. Even the tabloids had investigatory journalists - anyone remember John Pilger and Paul Foot, both writing for the Daily Mirror? I will continue to get my news for free - by getting a free newspaper with a small spend from Waitrose.

That's the key question though isn't it. If he's good enough. I really hope he is but I can't get too carried away having never seen him play or even heard of him until this rumour. It sounds promising and I hope he is the missing piece (and I agree with you) but I can't really comment. To be fair, Webber and Farkes track record is pretty spectacular so far and probably deserve the benefit of the doubt.

We're in good shape though if we get this guy. 2 top class keepers, both full back positions covered, 4 good centre half's, wide options in Buendia, Roberts, Onel, centre mid quality of Leitner, Trybull, McLean and Vrancic, No.10's in Stiepi and Cantwell and forward line of Pukki and Drmic. And then add to this others like Tettey, Thompson, Srbeny and Idah. Think this might be the last piece of the puzzle.

It's obviously impossible to know but I do think we are for the first time going up playing the right style of football. That's not technically true because Lamberts style was massively effective in that first-season but I don't believe it was a long-term solution. I don't think the board did either and they then went too far the other way with Hughton. But this time round, I mean just look at the rule changes to aid teams wanting to pass out from the back - we've adopted a style that the Prem wants us to play. We've not had a team capable of possession retention like this in the times I've supported the club. That could be valuable in changing and dictating tempo's in games where we start to lose control. People thinking we'll be comfortably top half are probably under-estimating the challenge somewhat but overall; with the obvious caveat of luck on our side, I think we stand a real chance of survival.

I forgot Vince's posts, despite blocking him, would still sneak through if someone quoted him-so cheers, Well b back...😁 Typical Vince cobblers mind. Must be a world record for a stuck needle on the record... 92/93 swung on that one game, the comeback and win against Arsenal on day 1. It gave the players the sort of surge of confidence and self belief that clung to them for the rest of that season. I know Liverpool is a nothing to lose fixture and if we lose but play well then yes, its room for hope, regardless. If we get battered then we have the players and coaching staff to turn the negative into a positive thing and they'll sure as hell react in the right way. But what if we were to get a point, or, miracles can happen, managed to win? What would that do for everyone? No one game will ever make a season. But it could help define one. Here's hoping...

We've not spent that much, but we've added four top quality players from top level teams. Heise is also like another new player and we have quality and depth throughout the squad. If, as looks likely now, we add Amadou and Rhodes we'll have had an excellent window. I'd compare us more to Bournemouth and hopefully we'll not only survive, but push on as well.
