That's the trouble of trying to be a self-financing club! In modern football the only way to succeed is to have a rich owner.

Just proving that for every success there is abject failure. And Fulham is abject failure. To think that spending money is the only way is a risk. It has worked for Wolves but not Fulham. Its all about getting the right players to play the way you want them to. DF has achieved that this season against all the odds. There is no way following that success that we would do anything different. By 6 May, we will be one of the favourites to go down. So what.

Not comparing due to Webber, but using Huddersfield as an example of the smallest budget Premier League team for the past two seasons spending over £28m on three players in their first season - even if Norwich spend less than the lowest spending team (and considering Norwich will receive more broadcast money due to a new larger deal) I highly doubt they won’t break the £10m for at least one player. As people have rightly been saying, Norwich don’t need a whole new squad, they need a few, quality additions in a few positions. That points towards a strategy of spending a decent amount on a few players. I’d go as far to stay it would almost be negligent of Webber to not spend big on some new talent. The money will be there to spend, better being spent on players than sitting in the bank.

Burnley are 4th from bottom, yet they have more than double the points of Fulham and Huddersfield combined. That is the reality now of how difficult its becoming for any promoted team to stay in the Prem for any length of time. Firstly i tend to look at our club and accept that we are a yo yo club, but that in itself is a massive accomplishment, how the heck we manage to even get into the Prem time and again with practically zero ownership investment is almost unique to NCFC only. Next, instead of comparing our club to any other club, for example Huddersfield, would rather compare this seasons (almost there!) promotion to the last one under Alex Neil. A young, inexperienced Scotsman plucked from Hamilton to take charge of an aged team who had been there...done that. In a decent position already in the division, the young Neil turbocharged his enthusiasm into the team, leading to that memorable day out at Wembley in the Play Off Final. But then into the Prem..that whirlwind 6 months withAN hit the reality buffers quickly. His inexperience, coupled with a team more than showing its age, combined to show us all how ill equipped we were to handle the brutal rigours of life in the Prem. So, on to this time around. We dont need rocket science to know how very difficult it will be to stay up. But as for the club itself, it has been root and branched, transformed, in a way that it wasnt last time around. There is a definite plan this time, the team may be unknown but they have youth, energy, togetherness, tinged with a modicum of experience, and a spirit that is a million miles from those that gained promotion last time out. And i believe last season was vital, not just for the players, learning new ways under a foreign manager, but for us fans, just learning to be patient with our club again!. So please, let every fan not get to angered, impatient, disapointed, at a situation that sees City in the bottom 3, even though the guys on the pitch did their darndest. Because, staying up, going down, whatever, DF and SW and the players have given us a season thats turned out to be more than memorable and deserve our support well beyond next season, however it turns out. And even Lambo has done the perfect job down at Porterloo..its the complete perfect season to be a Canary fan, may never happen again, so treasure it guys.

Ruel Fox scored a penalty for us against Man Utd at Old Trafford on December 4 1993. It took ten years before another away side scored a league penalty at Old Trafford, and in the interim only one other had been awarded, and missed. It is not conceivable that in a whole decade only one obvious foul had been committed by Man Utd players in their own penalty area. And only a few years ago one of the top referees (I forget the name but it would be instantly recogniseable) admitted (this safely after he had retired) that when it came to giving a big decision - like a penalty or a sending off - against Man Utd his first thought was about how Ferguson would crucify him afterwards if he got it wrong. Of course the moment a referee thinks like that, instead of being objective and thinking of Team Red against Team Blue, then they are much less likely to give the decision. Now Ferguson was an extreme example, although Wenger and others come to mind, but in general it must still be the case that referees are more wary of giving decisions against big clubs - and big-name managers and players - because of the media roasting if they get it wrong than against smaller teams with less media-powerful managers. I don't have time to do the research, but I suspect that a survey of how many penalties we have been awarded in our recent years in the Premier League would produce a very low number, even taking into account our position as a struggling team that might genuinely might not be expected to win that many.

Signing 12 new players, it's almost good to see them have failed so badly. The players that got you there deserve a chance. Wolves are a great example how a few sensible signings can improve your squad, not replace it! Sessegnon hasn't exactly set the world alight either

Totally agree, but you just know that after our first thumping next season we'll get an influx of absent posters gleefully telling us how Delia's lack of investment has condemned the club to being the laughing stock of English football...

Leicester. For the Norwich bet, Norwich to win and over 3.5 goals. 2/1. Bit tight imo but QPR are not very good.

This, and I'm saying it now, before anyone says "sour grapes" the Premiership is a cr@p product, it's no longer competitive, just a vehicle for the Big Six to make money. Look at the table, every season there's a yawning chasm between 6th and 7th, off the top of my head only six Teams have won it in 25 years and the top six are normally in place by the end of September. I understand that we need to be there, finances dictate that, but a Season like this one is where the excitement is.

High court has given them another five weeks to finalise a takeover which takes them to 8th May. The safety people have allowed the game to go ahead at the weekend so it looks like they will finish the season.

Is he talking about the ever decreasing attendance? I might even have a flutter on them not coming straight back up next season.

Passlack - Zimmerman - Franke - Heise Trybull - Leitner Steipermann - Srbeny -Hernandez Could stick Vadis or de Leat in there too if you turn your screen sideways, Can't imagine it'll be long before we can finish this team out and out though.

The penalty is Paddon's against Blackpool 35 minutes in. You can clearly hear "in the net" and see the crowd clapping in time with that.

When looking into home advantage the research I found linked it to officials tending to give decisions more in favour of the home team. Anyone who’s been to a match at ManU - or Rotherham- will find that very understandable. Ive never looked for research on the bias in favour of bigger teams but TBH it’s not something I feel needs statistical backup, it’s clear to me from watching games. VAR is certainly not perfect but hopefully it will help. Overall it’s one of those things about football that the cards are stacked to a degree in favour of the big teams which makes wins over them even more satisfying.

Seriously? I've heard plenty of former professionals, 'experts' commentating on games making statements like you won't get a penalty for that at Old Trafford. Or, Robbie Earle, who said we never expected to get anything at Stamford Bridge, when talking about refereeing decisions. Indeed Referees themselves have admitted that they felt pressurised when officiating the bigger games and, while I sympathize with their position, the sport is too important to allow that to have such an impact on the game. Some of the decisions are laughable, they aren't even contentious, if it goes against a Big Club it's all over the papers, if it happens to Bournemouth it barely gets a mention.

At least we will have another season of not having to play them

I agree, Alex. The lads have proved themselves in the Championship and they absolutely deserve an opportunity to prove themselves in the PL. My only concern and I truly mean my only concern, is that we make too many mistakes in defense that we can get away with in the Championship. In this league we can make five defensive mistakes in a game and maybe be seriously troubled about three times and scored on once. In the PL we will be unequivocally punished three out of five times. Other than that, I’m truly going to enjoy watching the lads have fun rising to the occasion!

I've been saying that the Premiership is bent for 15 years and once VAR comes in and levels the playing field, the Big Clubs will b*gger off and create their own, full time European Super League so they can maintain their 'dominance' both in financial terms and in terms of generating support from around the World.

Really hope this happens at some point. Like you i've no idea how the club will implement it but really do think with our fanbase we have the potential to grow the support further and would love to see the capacity around the 35k mark. I also hope that should we be promoted and struggle next season (not that I have any reason to think we will) the fans remain behind the owners and remember that Fulham style spending is no guarantee of success. For as long as the players are playing for the manager as well I hope we stay loyal to Farke if this situation. Huddersfield an example of how twisting can make no difference whatsoever.

Hope not, Badger! Should we go up, and keep staff intact, I think we could be next season’s ‘surprise’ package, I really do. The lads have proved they’re comfortable playing neat pacey creative one touch football, there is some genuine quality there - that fills me with promise alone.

Ignore them, like we did Lambert at Carrow Road. It will hurt more to be seen as an irrelevance than to acknowledge them in any way, even negatively. I would hate to think we ever became so poor and unequal that they considered us insignificant, lets do that.
  34. 1 point
How about ignoring them as the irrelevance they have become. Whereas promotion to the Prem helped us clear a very nasty debt, they are in no position to do that unless they do as we did. But that is going to get harder to emulate. They will be no different than Bolton or Yeovil for us.

Don't think Rhodes is the right fit for the EPL. He's been sat on the bench for most of the year, would command a high transfer fee and wages, and doesn't fit the 'young and hungry' mould. Would be very surprised if we signed him on permanently – not the right fit if we go up, and too expensive if we stay down.
  37. 1 point
Whichever league we are in no negativity towards our players. Don’t destroy what we have. As Webber says if in the PL there will be weeks we get stuffed and that’s the time to pull together

Nothing against Angus, but Krul better suits what we needed from a goalkeeper this season. The leadership and wealth of experience he has is invaluable.
  39. 1 point
One thing is for sure, we won't bring anyone in who isn't a fit for our dressing room and the way we play. No good plucking "good players" out of thin air while ignoring questions about character, temperament, technical ability and suitability/adaptability for our style of play.
