Incredible run he’s got them on since Jan when they were at the wrong end of the table. Really pleased for him.

The negativity on here is unbelievable. Who cares what Leeds or Sheffield are doing? We're top. We could be 4 points clear at 5PM today. We've won 9 of the last 10. We've got a decent looking run-in. As long as we keep doing what we've been doing for most of the season, no-one else matters.

A handful of games left. Give it a rest. Who knows who will be available and from where and at what cost. Let Webber and Farke do the thinking in the Summer and enjoy a crucial match day today. PS I am glad you got his name right though!👍

Last season LDC you were basically saying we were going to win every game. You cant have it both ways, otherwise you have to respect that you've no credibility and people will call you on it.

So essentially you're contrary for the sake of it? Shock.

Just back from the game. What a win, what a team, and what a ****ing atmosphere. That away end was another level today. Thought Trybull was MOTM, broke everything up in the middle. Nobody had a bad game. Pleased with the reception Krul got, that was an outstanding show of support. It was clear how much it meant to the players today, and Farke is one of our own, yellow through and through. Edit - Special mention for Buendia too, thought he was outstanding too.

I think everyone but Ipswich is looking over their shoulder.

Excellent. Difficult conditions against a strong team who do quite well at home. Brilliant.

Or a Sheff U win with a Leeds straight red and a bad injury

This lad has come on so much since he has nailed a first team place. Always a threat at corners and great pace from defence (showing his midfield credentials). No wonder Daniel Farke has stated he could be world class. And that header today was worthy of a Steve Bruce performance....the tenacity to get to it was remarkable....he was virtually horizontal as he headed the ball back across the keeper. For all the wonderful stuff from Pukki and Buendia, this performance today was stunning. He never has a bad game. Made the winner today.

millerrafe, a small passage pf play. 5 attempted fouls. 1 foul. It looks like players getting frustrated by better players.
  13. 2 points
It was the worst result, from the information we had at the time, for our chances gaining of promotion, which most people are mentally prioritising over the title.

LDC, we are not the Manager and we are not the players so it matters not one jot what we think. We are supporters and being a football supporter is all about enjoying the moment, being positive and being optimistic. Where is the fun in being miserable and thinking that no game is easy when you are top of the league with a handful of games to go? Save that for the next time we are struggling to avoid relegation.

Lakey, your constant negativity is driving me crazy 😬

This was the best one I found: I can already see Phillips in a Norwich shirt. It's fair to say, the mood is negative.

WBA play Brum on Friday night too - could be just the 3 by the time Leeds play. They are at home to Millwall though - whatever the stewards are being paid for that one, it's not enough!

The weather played its part today, made it look much closer than it should have been. Credit to Rotherham, played the conditions better than us, that said, we've still found a way to win. The sign of Champions?

People, hold your nerve ffs, and keep the faith

If the aim is promotion first and foremost then it does matter. Some seem to be assuming that we're just going to keep on winning. The problem being that having 2 clubs right on us with little buffer a slip from us can see us drop out of the top 2 more easily. Surely people can understand this???

Last night I was fortunate enough to appointed secretary of the Canaries Trust, taking over from Mike Reynolds who had been in the post since start up in 2002. I am very honoured to given this responsibility as Mike is a hard act to follow and has been the main stay of the organisation throughout it’s existence. I do have some experience in this area as I was secretary of NCISA for 7 years. I am very proud of my time at NCISA and feel we made a difference at that time. The Trust is a considerably different animal to the Independent Supporters however, and I am having to learn some very different skills not least how shares work, something that was a closed book to me until recently! I feel that this is something of a watershed not only for me personally but also for the Trust, and I thought now would be a good time to attempt to dispel some of the negativity surrounding the Trust and eradicate any misconceptions. The main aim of the Trust is primarily to acquire shares in the football club on behalf of NCFC supporters. While that might not seem of great importance right now when things are going really well, the thing is with football that you never know what’s just around the corner. Ask Blackpool, Bolton and Coventry fans. Some clubs have actually been saved from going out of existence by their supporters trusts and while we hope that never becomes the case here, it’s nice to know that you may be able to make a difference. We have some great people in charge of Norwich City FC at present and long may it continue. Delia and Michael however aren’t getting any younger though and they won’t be here forever. Who knows what might happen then? Football is very unpredictable. At present the Trust is the 14th largest shareholder and the aim is to make that even bigger. When I first joined the Trust, it was run by some very good people who worked hard behind the scenes. I do think though that they would be the first to admit they weren’t very good at selling themselves and raising their profile among NCFC fans. Consequently, they were seen as this rather dark shady organisation nobody knew much about, and dismissed as rather irrelevant, especially as they co-existed at the same time as more high-profile organisations such as NCISA. That is no longer the case. The Trust has changed beyond all recognition. A lot of the original members have departed and been replaced by younger more dynamic people (not including myself here btw!). They have brought new skills and knowledge with them especially in social media and in marketing. The present-day Trust Board is quite different to the original one I joined in 2014. A bit like Triggers broom! None of the Trust committee are in for their own ends. I have heard in the past suggestions that the aim is to get one of us on the board. I would like to put that to bed once and for all. I can assure you that none of us have any aspirations to be on the Norwich City board. Personally, I can think of nothing worse. It’s stressful enough just being a fan without the knowledge that your decision making can have far reaching implications for the team and the club in general. I have nothing but respect for Delia and think she must have an incredibly thick skin when you think of the criticism she has had to take over the years. When things have gone pear shaped the brickbats have inevitably ended up her lap. All the Trust committee give up their time freely and are very often left out of pocket. I can tell you that at last night’s AGM the treasurer paid for the photocopying of the accounts with is own money and that isn’t cheap these days. I’ve been on the committee 5 years and not once have I heard anyone request an expenses claim form. It’s also a common misunderstanding that some of us especially Robin, are always keen to get their views heard on the radio and television. Canary Call excepted which is after all a phone in programme and designed for just that, I can honestly say none of us have ever rung up the BBC, ITV or a radio stations saying ‘This is my view. Put me on air so I can tell everybody’. If we’re on there it’s because we’ve been asked. We’re all quite shy really 😇 We work very closely with other fans groups. Proud Canaries, Forces2Canaries and Barclay End Norwich are part of our umbrella organisation and attend our monthly meetings. We work very closely with the Norwich City Fans Social Club and have a good working relationship with them and make sure any planned events don’t clash . We also support each other’s events and fundraising activities. We are certainly not in competition with them. The key word I think is ‘social’. That is not our remit and we would be the first to admit that they are much better at this than we are! Several us are regular contributors to Eddies Funds for the CSF weekly bet and meet up regularly with other PUPs. In my role as secretary I shall be pushing for more of us to get involved with this worthwhile and enjoyable enterprise. Neither are we aspiring to become another NCISA. The Independent Supporters were more of a debating platform about matters on and off the pitch and did an excellent job as such. Although each of us may hold personal views on things NCFC and on other aspects of life in general, these are not necessarily those of the Trust and I hope we make that quite clear on social media. The committee is a broad church and there is a wide spectrum of views on everything including politics, Wes Hoolahan and whether or not corporate polo shirts look good on ladies.. We see ourselves more of a critical friend than anything. We do hold a memorandum of understanding with the club which took a long time drawing up and this gives us a vehicle to reflect concerns that we are hearing from fans if they arise. Two of us regularly attend the club’s atmosphere group meetings so we have had a ringside seat for the wonderful work done this season by Barclay End Norwich and Along Come Norwich and the fantastic flags and atmosphere project. We’re not just there on behalf of the Trust though. If you have any views or suggestions, I would be pleased to take them along. More recently there has been as shift in our stance in that we are trying to be more of a part of the Norfolk community at large rather in the way that the football club has been doing over the past few years. Not all of the money we raise goes into share purchase. We have raised considerable sums for the CSF. On Boxing Day this year three of us including me, plunged into the North Sea for a sponsored dip. Despite assurances from my friends at the Look East weather department (you know who you are) that ‘It'll be all right because the sea temperature is higher than the air temperature’ it was bloody cold! We did however raise over £1300 for the CSF and I’m still alive so it was all worthwhile. On a foul night before the Swansea game with the support of the football club a couple of weeks ago Trust members joined the Norwich Food bank to collect donations. In total over 700kgs of items were collected. It proved so successful that we might make it an annual event. More recently as you might have read as it attracted a certain amount of derision on here, the Trust has become involved with the project to put free sanitary products in ladies’ toilets at football grounds. This is a nationwide initiative - 'On the Baw'. which was started by three young women at Celtic and is now supported by 75 other clubs. We are aiming to be the 76th. What’s not to like? So, to finish then I’d just like to say give us a chance. I am happy to engage with people on here, on social media and of course in person. You can usually find me in the Snakepit on match days and often in the Nelson with the PUPs afterwards. My Twitter account is @reephambird and I am on Facebook too. You can also email me reephambird@gmail.com. I would be delighted to hear from you. If you’d consider joining, that would be great too. Obviously, we need money to buy shares and it costs just £12 per year to own part of your club. www.canariestrust.org contactthecanariestrust@gmail.com OTBC. One City Strong.

I don't disagree with that at all. I didn't say it because the post was about next season. In hindsight, it was probably a post for the end of the season. Here's to 3 points today!

Imagine supporting a Team in Blue and white, who are you? Millwall, Everton, Brum or 1p5wich? Your songs are sung by everyone else, you can't be identified by your colours, yet your identity is what defines you. We're the only Club in Yellow and Green, every football fan knows who we are, without even seeing the badge, that's a powerful image, one that we should all be proud of.

Another Krul bashing post, do me a favour. He's our best option for the remainder of the season. Yes he'll probably need some competition next year whichever League we're in. Is it too much to ask for you to support the Team? That's all of them, just for the next nine games, to see us over the line.

Great post Kathy and good luck in your new role. Thanks for taking the time to explain the current status and activities of the trust so clearly. P.S. I for one am fully behind the free sanitary products project. Shame it has to be done at all but all the best with it.

I try to be positive in face of unecessary negativity and err on caution when others get too positive for their own good. Best not to get carried away with negativity - it only makes engenders more negativity - and best not to be celebrating until there is something tangible to celebrate - and for me that means promotion. We are not there yet and as I said, there are no easy games. 😉

I think we have to remember that on another day Teemu could have had 2 or 3. And they were ones he scored with ease, sitters to him. So we could have won it but three or four with a bit of better finishing when to be fair, they played as well as they could but didn't really look like scoring just threatening.

You wouldn’t want to play WBA or Villa in the play offs, I’d love it if Leeds ****ed it up yet again!

Yep and they've got Sheff Utd and Leeds as their next two home games! Go Alex!!

We keep slating him, saying he should be replaced in the line-up, and he keeps BANGING them in.

The general thought was that, once again Leeds would blow it. Maybe this is the start.
  41. 1 point
EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS IT WOULD BE BETTER IF LEEDS WON. Some of us are just looking on the bright side and back our chances of beating the 22nd best team in the league...
  42. 1 point
Yep- even though Sheff U winning isn't great for us, if we win today then it doesn't really matter.
  43. 1 point
Sheff Utd are set up to be hard to beat without being defensive, but have goalscorers of quality. Basically they are like us under Lambert, we didn't have great quality in the way we do now but players who run thru brick walls and we had Grant Holt.
  44. 1 point
As is often the case in games between two teams at the top, neither gets to play the way they ideally want to. SU are much better than dogged and well drilled.
  45. 1 point
They're a dogged well orgainzed ,well drilled side Sheff Utd undoubtedly....but quality wise?....all I would say is it would be dissappointing to lose out on automatic promotion to them

Sigh.. No we're superb. Maybe I didn't caveat heavily enough just how well I think we're doing in simply saying 'exceptional season', this has been the best footballing Norwich side I've seen. But that does not mean there are not football issues that can be discussed and debated on this football forum designed for discussion and debate... What I was trying to highlight in those stats is that we would be capable of even better if we could just stay focused for the full 90 minutes (plus injury time!!), I don't feel like this is an unreasonable thought to have. I DO NOT think we should be invincible or not concede goals or make mistakes, but we should be capable of making results easier for ourselves when we get into a good position in games, and I think the timings I listed show that we sometimes do let things slip and offer the opposition a free leg up back in to the game. It must be said that often this happens during games when we have played brilliantly overall. But this compounds the issue in a sense as all we need to do is maintain the high level of performance throughout the entirety of our matches; we would undoubtedly be sitting through much more relaxing afternoons at Carrow Road and have a better goal difference to boot too. I think the fact that these games have occurred almost exclusively at home does show there is something in this. As I said, I don't think anyone would find it more frustrating than Farke himself, we always seem to have to do things the hard way! Which is fun for us fans (at the final whistle), but from a professional point of view, I'm sure Farke would've rather we just saw the game out and maybe got another goal or two against Millwall when Leitner scored to make it 2-1...

Actually this thread reminded me of a random thought which popped into my head the other day. If you're a fan of one of the many teams who play in boring blue and white you must go to lots of games where it's really difficult to tell if fans wearing a blue shirt are supporting your side or the opposition. This will never happen to us City fans.
  49. 1 point
It matters to me so much I have to be yellow or green if playing board games and I won't play as blue. Ever.

FTW yes this info comes direct to us and you will receive an email in the next few days - I know this as I’ll be the one sending it!! Welcome aboard and thank you for your support. I’d just like to add my support to Kathy’s initial post - we’ve come a long way as a Trust since I joined, due in part to some really dedicated volunteers on our board, and with the addition of some new board members in the last year or so we’ve really increased our combined skill set and started to reach a wider audience. I love being involved in the Trust, and I can’t tell you how proud I am of our recent successes, especially the Foodbank collection and the comparatively large increase in our shareholding in the last few years. If anyone wishes to make contact direct with any queries or suggestions please find the Trust on Twitter @canariestrust or me personally @mandiemoomoo or drop me an email mandiemoo@btinternet.com Thanks.
